In order to make things more organized and current in the debate forum, I locked and deleted a lot of previously dead discussions. I deleted a lot of older "news" threads that were not relevant anymore and I used my own judgement to keep/discard threads. If you're upset that I deleted something / locked something totally cool and that you want to discuss them, read the paragraph below.

Please, when you look at these old threads, don't think that you cannot talk about these topics at hand. This clean up is so that we can get a fresh start and a fresh look at a lot of the issues that have come up and may have new ideas supporting / disproving them. If you are too scared to make a first post about such and such topic, PM me and I'll put up a post for you and credit you for the idea. If you want one of these topics to be reopened and/or a new thread started, but you don't want to start a new thread, reply here and *I* will summarize the old thread for you and put up a new thread so you can talk to your hearts content.

I organized the topics we have into a handy directory. I'll be reformatting topic titles so that they fall under these categories if I ever get around to it. I may end up being lazy and not doing it.

judes I don't have a topic per se, but if you're considering doing the featured debate idea from time to time, I want to suggest a certain type of debate I really enjoy.

I got this idea after visiting a Final Fantasy VII forum, basically the age old debate of which girl Cloud (the main character) loves. Those debates span hundreds of pages and it's just astonishing what people can come up with based solely on interpretation of fictional material! Anyways I just find it more entertaining than legal or biblical or moral debates >.<

I love how in those debates, no amount of facts, opinions, nor evidence will support either side conclusively. Because people will continuously pull stuff from the given material, and interpret the same idea 3-4 different ways. Nor will either side ever back down. Because basically there is no right answer since, being fictional, the author can swing either way anytime he wants. If that makes any sense. So basically, a debate over some idea from a movie, book, popular culture, or whether Jay ever loved Jolin haha <kidding>!

It's just hard to think of a certain topic that many people will know about...but that's where I'm getting at, seeing as there aren't any pop culture debates listed above.

oh that's a good idea, karen. i know how intense people get about their fictional characters and canon/fanon drama. now to think of something that everybody will like though, yes.

fishie, hey that's always a possibility. i've spent many a night reading arguments about whether lily was originally in love with snape or if sirius really does love remus. then i just run off and write my own fanfic about inappropriate things that are so not canon.

hmm...something that a lot of people would be interested in arguing about...
