David Tao's new album Tai Mei Li caused a bit of a stir after it was leaked out just like F.I.R's new album. if this was a publicity stunt or not it sure recieved a bit of media attention.
this song contains a lot of Tao's great ballad singing as well as some experimenting with RnB.
my favourite song in this album is Olia. the lyrics are very heartwarming and a simple accompaniment showed off Tao's exceptional vocal skills. when i first got my hands on this album, this song was the one that was constantly on repeat on my
MP3
Tai Me Li- (too beautiful) is also the title of this album and so i had high expectations for this song. hearing the piano and strings immediately lifted up my spirits and the flowing ballad i must say did put a smile on my face

Wang Bu Liao- (can't forget) the start of this song put me off quite a bit with the half rap "can't get you out of my mind, no no, yea yea". this song isn't quite up there with my favourites of Tao but i do praise the lyric writing
Jin Tian Ni Yao Jia Gei Wo- (today you shall marry me) is the only duet in this album and features Jolin. The whole "Jolin in the house, uh, DT in the house" was one of those cringe moments in this song that put me off. The lyrics are very cute and the tune isn't bad too.
This album consists of a lot of typical Tao ballads but he is also beginning to experiment with the likes of RnB and Rap. Kudos to him for this new album and hopefully after many times of listening to this i may like it just as much as i loved his previous albums
recommended songs: too beautiful, olia, every side is beautiful, bu ai- won't love

I gotta say, for Wang Bu Liao, I always liked the beat, the song itself has a catchy beat to it, ( I guess its not a surprise then that Jay wrote it, I didn't know that ) but like I've said before, David Tao cannot do hip hop, or at the very least cannot pull it off as well as other artists. Although I will say the song has grown on me and it isn't that bad, it still doesnt fit him.

Personally the songs all aren't bad, but unlike older albums, none of them stand out. Yes they are all pleasant and nice to listen to, but in my opinion, none really jump out at you and grab your attention like some of the songs on his older albums did.

All in all, I agree with shez's review.

Wang bu liao is written bya Jay????Isn't it an old song and the only difference is that David Tao just sings in a modern hip hop style???:glug: hmm i got lost in here but it doesnt matter coz the song is really nice and it's the best so far....Really dont like the way jolin sings in the duet omg she sounds so childish, it was like listening to 5 years old girl singing....

Wang Bu Liao isn't written by Jay >.< I believe it's a remake of an oldies song.
I doubt Jay, David Tao, or Wang Lee Hom for that matter will ever write or sing songs written for each other. I tried to listen to this album, but nothing stands out. They should have ixnay'ed on the olinjay. Though that particular song is catchy, their voices just don't compliment each other very well.

I'm not a big fan of David Tao, but I did hear the duet with Jolin, and I agree with general sentiment that though it's a cute and fairly catchy song, it doesn't really work, as Karen said, they don't really compliment each other very well.

Oh, and I totally agree with the 'DT in the house/Jolin in the house' comment, it's just awkward and I really do cringe whenever I hear that part. Tao says her name in a very odd way (Joleen?) and it's very distracting.

Personally, I felt that this website is quite nice. Sentimental songs are my cup of tea. It is easy listening. I agreed with Shez's recommended songs.

i was really excited to listen to his new album especially the remix/remake of wang bu liao.. i really liked his remake of moon represents my heart so i was super excited to listen to this remake, but i was pretty disappointed. my intial reaction was "what the crap is this rapping" and thought it really took away from the original mood/tone/emotion of the song..

the other songs on the album were pretty good tho..

i especially like 自导自演的悲剧 and 太美丽. they sounds so pretty.. =)

overall, i did not like his album this time compared to his last album.. the album is boring.. too much mellow songs.. im expecting something like shun wu bing fa.. songs sounded too much alike.. unlike his last album.. every song is unique in some way - different feel for each song..

but i personally like track 7 & 9.. songs were soothing.. duet with jolin was ok.. ddnt like the 'jolin in the house, dt in the house' part.. wang bu liao is really off.. the rapping part is really really bad..

Hey I like this album! Maybe cos it has a lot of ballads haha... but his mid-tempo songs were great too! Like Chase (Zhui1) , I Don't Wanna Know (Zhu4 Ni3 Xing4 Fu2) and Walk On made me happy haha..

And his Tao2 Shi4 Qing2 Ge1 (Tao-style-ballads) like Tai Mei Li, Zi Dao Zi Yan De Bei Ju (How Long ) & SI Ceng Xiang Shi (Finally ) I thought were great.

Bu 4 Ai4 has the soulful feeling... the American soul-style kind of song.. Interesting song.

I loved OLIA the most. So beautiful, and like what shez said, "simple accompaniment showed off Tao's exceptional vocal skills". The music arrangement was beautiful. The whole song;'s beautiful.. His voice's just so soothing & warm in OLIA.

I couldn't stand the duet he sang with Jolin though. They really cannot complement each other. It's so not David Tao..

I would recommend this album. Easy-listening, nothing too fanciful, but great vocals & great music there.

The song I liked most on his cd is "Mei Yi Mian Duo Mei", which I think is track #11.
I don't like Jolin's voice in the duet. She sounds so childish, and has weird word pronounciations. And the wedding song part in the end didn't fit well.
Overall, I liked maybe 2-3 songs.

I actually think this album on the whole is rather forgettable other than the duet which stood out simply because it was a duet. To that song's credit, it does have a rather catchy melody that's kinda sweet... and yes, it would have been nice without the 'DT in the house' turn-off moments.

first of all, let me establish that i am a huge David Tao fan, every since his first album.

the first song i heard was "Wang Bu Liao" and i cringed when i heard "Wang Bu Liao, can't get you out of my mind, no no, yeah yeah". make up your mind! is it a yes or no? i love all his previous remake of old songs but this one... :?

like you guys said, in the duet, the "DT/Jolin in the house" was totally unnecessary. that being said, that song has very sweet lyrics and i like the MV. i'm not a jolin fan so i might be bias here but i find her english pronounciation/accent quite fake.

as a whole, i was slightly dissapointed in this album, maybe because i had quite high expectations of it. what do you guys think?

David Tao "Too Beautiful"

First Impressions - Not So Beautiful

The song tracks have all DT's trademark soothing smooth vocals but I am quite disappointed with this latest offering from the "Founding Father of TW's R&B music".

忘不了 in which DT injects an oldie tune with his new R&B version is what he has been doing all along since his debut chinese album (望春風), where he tries to give a new twist to these familiar oldie hits.

My next fave song is 自導自演的悲劇 which is the typical kind of DT song that I love. Even the duet with Jolin which I anticipated, is only so-so only.

This is not to deny that DT indeed has immense talent with song-writing, and his vocals are really great. This album is not up to the usual DT's standard. It is somewhat lacklustre as compared to the previous compilations. The other songs are all pretty forgettable, and the lyrics are... can i say boring... The saving grace of the album is the packinging which is really VERY beautiful.
