No we're not always finding ways to punish you guys. The latest version of vBulletin has a built in infraction system so I decided we can use it. With Jay's new album looming in the distance, we always get the n00bs and leechers around this time.
Infractions are like warnings basically. People complain how we don't give warnings when taking action, so now your prayers have been answered.
Most important to remember:
You give infractions on the post a person made.
A person cannot get multiple infractions on the same post.
How to give infractions
1). Clicking the orange arrow button will take you to the infraction screen
http://jay-chou.net/images/modguide06/infrac0.jpg
2). This is what the infraction screen looks like -> CLICK (http://jay-chou.net/images/modguide06/infrac1.jpg)
If you select Warning Only, it means they won't get the infrac points added on. They are just warned/reminded to follow the rule you have selected they broke - same as just sending someone a PM to remind them to follow the rules. At this point, you may decide to dock rep points from them as well, in which you will state in your PM.
The spam ads/solicitation infrac doesn't have a warning bc I've always hated that the most. It is an automatic 10 pt infraction so use it when appropriate (more about what points do later)
If none of the default reasons are appropriate, you can create your own Custom one. The Expiration Date is just what it says, after 10 days for example, the infrac or warning will expire and their infrac level drops by whatever amount the original infrac was.
Below the infrac (not shown in screenshot) is a texbox where you can send a personalized PM to the person as well.
Whether you personalize it or not, the person will get an auto-PM telling them they just received an infrac from you. No this is not anonymous at all.
The PM looks like this if you're curious -> CLICK (http://jay-chou.net/images/modguide06/infrac2.jpg)
The post a user received an infraction on will display either a red (infraction) or yellow (warning only) card and looks like this:

How to reverse an infraction
Mods and above only: If you change your mind about an infrac given you can reverse it.
It's very easy, just find the post in which you gave the infractio to..click the infraction card (as the screen above shows), and it will take you to the reversal screen. It's pretty self explanatory from that point forward.
Social group members: You will have to ask any Mod or SMod to reverse it.
What do the infraction points do? What happens when they get a certain amount
Once a person gets 10pts worth of infractions (remember warning do not accumulate points, only infractions) their forum permissions will be demoted all the way down to what a user in the newbie! group is allowed to do.
Their usergroup display status may still say Registered Users+ or whatnot, but their permissions are docked majorly. So they will not be allowed to change avatars, use sigs, enter the downloads forums, access the plaza, etc.. and are only allowed to post in the Newbie Sanctuary UNTIL the infrac(s) expire and they are below 10 pts.
