Let's get right down to it. French films are for girls and pussies. Mais non, not Banlieue 13. This is a non-stop ass-kicking adventure from start to finish, brought to you from the same guys that made the excellent Thai movie Ong Bak.

The athleticism of the leads is nothing short of amazing. The action sequences of the movie blend fighting, acrobatic work, and the sport of freerunning, which originated in France and more or less consists of jumping from high places to low places without regard of safety. The best part about it is that the actors don't need stunt doubles--they do everything themselves; this includes jumping from rooftop to rooftop, from rooftop to the ground. It's some crazy shit.

NOONNNNNNN! What of the story? There's not really any. The first half of the film is spent in exposition, getting you acquainted with the two heroes. One's a streetwise gang leader, one's a tough cop. Are they going to join forces? Will they have conflicts on how to get things done? Is there a girl they want to save?

I won't spoil any of that for you because I'm sure you already know the answer is yes. But the story means absolutely nothing. Enjoy this film for what it is; a completely mindless action flick that'll leave you wanting to watch it again just to see that French guy's rock hard bo... uh, see the awesome action sequences.

No, there is no cheese (although plenty of wine) in this movie. There is some surrendering though. Vive la France.
