Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's chest

I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and wanted to give in my input,
For those of you know don't know the movie features Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightly, Orlando Bloom, Gore Verbinski

For those of you who don't know, this is a continuation of Pirates of the caribbean . The cast was top notch, I think Johnny Depp couldn't have been better. But what bothered me about this movie is, unlike most sequels, such as Lord of the Rings, this movie could not stand on its own. If you did not see the first movie, you really had no idea what was going on. The movie rested compleatly on the first movie. Captain Jack Sparrow is cursed and is forced to be a part of this freaky moster crew unless he can break the spell. Will turner and his girl friend Elizabeth's wedding are crashed by some bad guy and they hook up with jack again after a long complicated plot. The movie is funny, but as you could see I could barely explain it in a nice concise review. I do recommend it to kill time, but be warned its not as great as the first one and yes, there will be a Pirates of the caribbean 3. :dry:

But what bothered me about this movie is, unlike most sequels, such as Lord of the Rings, this movie could not stand on its own.

I got bored halfway through the movie because although I caught the first one, I have a bad memory which meant that I was getting a little lost on what was going on.

Some bits of the movie were rather slap-stick-ish and I have to say that Part 2 was just prepping the audience for Part 3. Usually, Johnny Depp can be counted upon to save a show but I have to add that even he couldn't save this stinker of a show.

i thought the movie was pretty good. jaohnny depp was awesome in the movie as in the first one. it was funny, full of action, good special effects and had a great cast and i can't wait to go watch the third one.

Lol, despite watching the movie like 4 times in the theaters, i didn't give the story/plot a high rating. because it was really quite average, nothing spectacular, like the first one which totally wowed the audience. this one was just... yeah well, average. other than for the classic scenes like captain jack, will and james norrington fighting on that wheel etc, and of course the really funny bits where will and the crew swing around in the cage to the funny music, and jack and the fruits... i would say that non-potc fans wouldn't like it too much.:oops: but oh well. it's very obvious that this is just something for them to link to the third movie, which is sort of the most important one, i guess. let's hope the third movie will be really great. :D

the plot wasnt that great..but i really enjoyed watching it as i thought the movie was pretty funny. and also johnny dep and orlando bloom were quite good at acting too. it was funny..but the story line was kinda bad.
i dont really like the cliff hanger tho!!! >.<"

I think it wasn't as good as the first one. And I agree about it not being able to stand on its own. I can't really recall what happened in the first movie so it was a bit hard for me to get into the sequel. And to make matters worst, I was really tired and dozed off for about 10 minutes. :shy:

The first one always better than the next one. I won't go watch it again because I am those who have good memory ^^ if not I will tell the others step by step what is going on next. The overall for the movie is good, I love every actor and actress, I love the effect, the music and sounds. Johnny Depp got to be a pirate in real life lol Orlando seems like the main charater in this part anyway. The story line is nothing, just like the another adverture movies. I can't eat Octopus for such a week :rolleyes:

I was really looking forward to this movie, but after two and a half hours I was speechless. It didn't meet all my expectations.

The first one was better. This one was funny, real funny, so funny at times that all the whole theather was crunching and I couldn't stop myself, but not enough for a 2 hrs and so thing.

The very best and already mentioned is the acting, Johnny definitely did it again. Jack is hilarious!!! The special effects and make-up were great too. I love the scenery. It took me far away.

Music/Sound wasn't very noticeable. Take note everything is super boom in the cinema.

Story/Plot, I agree on it being to tied to the first part. I made my friend who hadn't watched the first sequel by telling him that it wouldn't have anything to do with the first, but actually he was asking what was happening almost 1/3 of the time while watching with me!!! The end came too suddenly and unexpected. Thrilled....

it far surpasses no 1 in terms of everything. johnny depp reprises his role again with perfection and is hilarious as always.

they're quickly on the production of the 3rd already...aiming for a release nxt year!

But i think this movie is very hillarious (esp Johnny Depp)..

I was actually bored while watching this sequel. Many times. I really adored the first one, and this one didn't come close at all. Certainly, Johnny Depp had some great scenes, and the movie had its funny moments, but really, the movie just doesn't satifsy. I can't remember how many times I wanted the movie to end. I went with my dad to watch it since my friends had watched it already, and I told him it would be good. :oops:

I've watched the first one several times; I'd probably never watch this one ever again.

OK...well. First of all, I love the first movie. It's like...WAY better than this one. But this one, well it was okay. I'd LOVE to watch it again, and the acting (especially Johnny Depp's!!!) was just awesome. Ok...the music. First of all, I personally liked Klaus Bedelt's music better. More original, catchy, etc. The story, well...I mean, Barbosa lived in the end. What the heck??? Too many problems!!!

Indeed, the second one was a bit careless in the plot and I really like the first one better than the second. The second one lacked good climax and turnaround between characters, but at least it made the fan happy that the second movie came out.
