hello...first of all...let me introduce myself here...i'm newbie...actually i've been registered in this site a few months ago...before the download section requires password to access, i'm a passive member....huh really enjoyed to download so many stuffs from there....but since it required password to access..i -want or not- have to be active here..because i love all the stuffs in download section....
ok..back to the topic...
formerly, i wasn't a jay's fan....i didn't even know about him...Because in Indonesia -where i lived- it was hard n rare to find out about Jay Chou..the media here prefered to talk bout F4,5566,n other oriental artists whose the series TV had been on TV here..i just heard bout him once in the media...it hadn't attracted me yet...
but bout six months ago..i started to like Jay Chou...because one of my college friend was a big fan of Jay... Wow i had just realized that Jay's songs were really cool and i liked them...he also got style..cool...
next i started to searching more things about Jay till I come here...wow great this is the most wonderful place to have almost complete stuffs about Jay...(until it required password...T.T)
I even made my college friend jealous..huhuhuh... he just asked me where the hell i got all the complete stuffs about Jay....:brows:

I've never really heard of Jay until my best friend kind of beg me to go to his first concert in Singapore. I can still remember me threatening to bash her up if the concert was not good since I paid quite an amount then. However, the next day, I've become a fan of Jay Chou and swept a copy of his albums in the CD store.

I guess I fell for Jay's live performance first then his music... haha.

Well, I had a writing/roleplayin game called Kabuki Arc. In any case, one of my characters/muses, Kazuki, "decided" that he liked Jay Chou. And because I wanted to understand what kind of music he liked, I went and got a whole bunch of Jay to listen to, and immediately got hooked.

Actually I started off with his 2nd album, Fantasy. And how did I notice him? Well, haha, one of my idols, Vivian Hsu "introduced" him to me... I was browsing through this chinese newspaper and Jay was at the back of it with the lyrics of Tornado. Then I saw that the lyrics was written by Vivian so I asked my friend if the song was nice... I like Jay b/c he is a such a great composer. His sounds are far more unique than other artists. I like most of his songs even though I don't have a clue what he is saying, but language isn't that important. Besides that Jay seems like a very nice guy & he acts cute. lol.
I found out about Jay when I did further research about him after seeing his mv of Fearless.

I liked Jay Chou when I first sampled his album, Common Jasmine Flower(Qi Li Xiang). I heard some samples on iTUnes, and it didn't interest me. But when I went back to China and bought his cds, it sounded better. I like his music because his songs are easy-going. It took a while to get into his songs for me, but once I did, I enjoyed them.

I just started listening to Jay and haven't heard his first/debut releases. I'm hoping to get the 7th album in US. I hope it's good, because his newer cds doesn't sound as good as the old ones.

about 3 years ago I was transferred to a private school in QingDao. Turns out a lot of the guys there liked Jay. I saw his posters at music stores and commercials on TV but I never really knew his name until I heard the guys talking about him.( I was in 4th graade when this happened) I kept thinking that Jay was this showoff and a wannabe cool guy, everytime I saw his picture I would say:"what a moron". Then the guys became my friends after a while, and they sang "Dragon Fist" in music class. I suddenly liked it because the beat was so Americanish and western. I then bought the "Eight Dimensions" album and listened to "Dragons Fist" non-stop. My chinese wasn't very good since I lived in America for half my life. Thats how it all began. I started to like Jay more and more. My cousin got Ye Hui Mei for me the day it came out. I listened to it nonstop. And aftfer my chinese improved I learned a couple of songs. The first song I learned was Sunny Day/qing tian. I fell in love with the western style of that song, it was so great to listen to, the lyrics were easy to learn too. I learned more and more songs. By now, I have every album, every EP, almost every book, all the live CD's, live DVD and VCD. I fell in love with collecting Jay's stuff. Jay really changed my life, He did something that no one else in this world could ever do to me. He made me like music. Thank You Jay. I think that Jay is the most talented artist ever. He can do it all, sing, dance, rap, write lyrics, compose, play basketball, sing with a womans voice. I can't believe I said those mean this about him. He truly id extrordinary.

i only liked him after i heard Qi Li Xiang and i used to get that hyper feeling when i listen to Jay and my friends used to criticise him and run away when i talk about him. i still love him but i guess i mellowed.

When I first started college, I was really homesick and lonely. I also had no clue that there was this other realm of music outside of what's heard in english. I met my best friend a few weeks after I started school and he introduced me to some of his favorite asian singers. Interested, I started browsing the net to see who else was out there. I heard about Jay in Year 2000, when his first Debut Single, Black Humor was swinging around the internet, my older cousins would sing his song, and I started listening to his songs, I was only 10 back then. Then I bought Jay, his debut album. And I listened to it for about a year, I lost the CD, so I was like dayum. About a year later after that, it was late 2002, and I saw Jay Chou's CD Fantasy, and Eight Dimensions in a Chinese Store, I bought em and I liked them very much. Yet again, I stopped listening to his songs and I was into Rap/Hip Hop, and on year 2004, I knew this thing called Downloading and I got a Program to Download Songs, I went to search on website about Jay Chou's songs, and I got this website, Jay-Chou.net, I downloaded all the songs from Kazaa, all the songs I knew from him, and some of his new songs and new albums, like Ye Hui Mei, Orange Jasmin. Since then, I listened to his songs non-stop, and yeah, it's sad but it's like been barely a month that I discovered that JCNET has forums, or else I'd register earlier!

First song I heard was Si Mian Chu Ge, yeah, just a year ago. Really late into it. But after that I got hooked and listened to all his old stuff too. I like him because he's a great lyricist (or whatever that word is) and no matter what, I haven't been able to dislike ONE of his songs. They're all too catchy. Like most Cd's have three-four good songs and the rest are crap, just filler. But every single one of Jay's songs are good. None are just filler. :D

I like Jay for many reasons:
1. He's a GENIUS
2. He's multitalented...his music never gets old...there's always something new
3. He's a pro in playing the piano (how many pop artist actually received professional training?), and he would be teaching piano if he wasn't a pop artist now XD
4. His MVs are AWESOME - LOVE his directing
5. He is always improving himself
6. He doesn't try to let fame get into him
7. He's an ordinary guy that just became popular because of what lies in him and not how he looks

He's just unique and I truly appreciate his work as an artist.

I've been listening to him ever since he released his first album :) That was like, 6 years back? Hee hee... apparently I am growing old too. Anyways, here are the answers to your questions:
1) How I got to know abt Jay Chou
- My bf (back then he was still a friend) used to fetch me around in his car and he was playing the first Jay album. It was the song "Xing Qing" that got my attention :D then i checked out his other songs, and then he released "Fantasy" and I got hooked! And here I am, 6 years later...
2) Why I like Jay Chou/What I like about Jay Chou
- I like the fact that he has something a lot of other artistes today do not have - TALENT! :D His ease of playing numerous instruments amazes me and the way he incorporates various instrumental and musical elements into his various works adds a touch of uniqueness and individuality in his music. I love the meaning behind his lyrics and the way he sings the songs... almost heart-wrenching! hehe... :wink2:
I guess that's about it....
oh, no, one more thing... and it's forums like this that cultivated my interest in his music too :) Because without forums like this, I wouldn't know what he was singing (i can't understand mandarin)...

I actually heard about Jay along time ago, but didn't hear any of his songs until last year. Been away from the music/film industry in Asia since my sister moved away. She was my main source!! haha...

But anyhow so his first music that I heard Was the Chopin CD last November. I can't say I fell in love with the CD immediately. I liked a few songs. But the more I listened (it takes a while to understand what he's singing) the more I loved his music. So I went online to check out his lyrics, which made me love his music even more. The meaning of lots of songs were very true to the core. I think he is very talented and his ability to mix the western and eastern music is incredible. I've even fallen for his rap and fast music. Though I must say his slow ones are the ones that I enjoy far more.

And so I started to go online to look into more about him. How he's like and all, and thought that was pretty cool. That's the only thing I am sad about because I kind of liked that shy guy him that I was reading about. So, that would be sad if all the fame has changed him.

Then I heard when he sang the Jacky song in half canto and half mandarin and I could just fall in love with him. He just had such a nice voice. Of course, him singing that song can't compare to Jacky, but still it was nice.

Still, I did not know how he looked like. So I googled him to see his pictures. haha.. And heck I am not young. I've been gone and stopped being star crazy so long ago, but he brought me back. I hadn't looked up star information for .... at least 6 years. I had heard that he wasn't all that good looking, and some people totally just bagged on him. I can't say he is the hottest guy alive or anything, but he's pretty cute. At least, when he is clean cute. That face I can dream about.. hehe...

It's kind of funny that I am only starting to listen to him, since I could have had access to his music so long ago. But he was the one that brought me back into the world of Chinese music again. Everyone is talking about how his music is not as good, but I find the new ones just to be as good. Still Fantasy has western, eastern, and a feeling of Chinese music from back in the days. It's a nice twist to it.

I haven't seen him act or direct, but I guess I'll look into that soon. But I'd rather he stick with music. It took him so long to come out with Still Fantasy from last album. And I guess no matter how much he might be a great actor or director, I think I'd rather hear him sing so much more.

Hi, i fell in love with him, ever since i heard his hit, Jian dan ai in the past... so far he's the only star that gives me the feeling that he's innocent and good even though so much of the media tries to write bad things about him. i like jay because he is just so talented! i like his voice -- it's quite unique if you ask me, and he composes very well! although most of his lyrics are written by vincent fang he has some that he wrote that i love! ^O^ he can dance very well, and his MV's are getting much better-- even generally directs his own MVs now ~ so cool! he's just really great. and he can play the piano and other instruments. also, i have never heard him try to incorporate english into his songs which i find good, because from what i understand, his english is probably not fantastic and he doesn't need english for anyone to love and enjoy his music!

haha! i fell in love with jay after listening to the "Ban Dao Tie He" that Iron Box song. i loved "tornado" [which was my first song i heard of his] but i didn't know who he was at the time. then he came up again when i was watching this MTV type show that was playing top 10 most popular music...and Jay Chou's Iron Box was number one. then i started ta look up his music and all that, so i just fell even in more love with him.

Why do i like Jay:

firstly he is different from other singers, he isnt boastful and he well mannered.
also i admire the fact that he can compose music, act and direct. he is willing to help fellow artist by writing them a song and supporting them through comments plus being special guest at concerts.

i never found out about Jay Chou, until a classmate started listening to him in class but still i didn't care, until i saw the movie Initial D. the song Piao Yi (Drifting)
got me into him and so i borrowed a album off him which was Fantasy, until this day i never returned the cd. just couldn't let go. eventually i paid $20 for it. $20 well spent! :D

Well, let's see...Simple Love, Love Before the Century, 1943, [Park] Fair, 7-Mile Scent, and such music are just classical collectibles that I've never gotten tired of listening over and over again. Of course, those are just some of my favorites. And please excuse my translation, I am just trying to make a point. Anyways, I hope to see him throwing a concert in the States. hehe..how I got hooked? hmm...a colleague passed me his Jasmine Orange CD (Qilixiang). I was never one to like Mando or even Canto Pop..the only ones I know were Andy, Aaron and Jacky..and even then I dont even know their songs. Well can I help it when I'm neither Chinese or Cantonese (I'm Malay/Indo btw..from Singapore and I dont speak Mandarin let alone Cantonese..yeah you go figure hahah).

But after that..the CD was on my desk, in my car and if my colleague hadnt wanted to leave the company..I would have kept it..hahah..Well suffice to say I got out to buy my own copy of that wonderful CD. Both of your profiles are locating you from Vietnam. There's a bunch of vietnamese people in my town, but I do not find one to like Jay's music, yet.

Also, listening to his music is appreciative, but if you can understand his lyrics, it's what dwelling in the realm of heavens feels like. Although, on many of his songs, his pronunciations are very off, and at times, he's just "skiing" through the lyrics. The result is a humbled and genuine Godly creation of appreciative music. That's why I like his music so bad. But honestly, I do not think he looks that good, though he's getting better looking recently.

I agree, there aren't many artists who can do that in the Asian Music Industry. Most are just either good looking, had some reputation with other things, or simply can sing, but can't write music. Jay struggled in the beginning, but his first album debut rocketed him out the wazoo. I still listen to his first album nowadays, it's been so many years. Wow, no one ever done that to my tiring ears. Another artist worth mentioning is Hikaru Utada from Japan. She's also a talented artist who wrote her own song and sang them, also made record selling albums.

It all happened because of my lack of listening to Jay Chou's songs.
My mates and I went to the local karaoke box 2 days ago to do some singing and we realised that there was limited English songs available. So, one of them being a Jay's fan selected all his songs. The rest of them couldnt read chinese for their lives and I could.

But during then I have not heard of a single Jay song despite him being so darn popular around here, so i had to listen to his first verse and chorus to familiarize with the melody before my weak attempt to sing. (and my mate keep giving me the incredulous you-dunno-jay-songs look) That was when love struck. :shy: Singing along, I realised that he actually has incredible songwriting talents and a great singing voice. and I kept asking around about him from my mates and they were all, "OMG you actually dunno [insert any Jay's song]?"

as a new fan, I'll been singing his songs especially Jian Dan Ai (Simple Love) around the house till my bro got annoyed and I just bought Qi Li Xiang which is an awesomely awesome album btw.

Although I am a bit ashamed to say this, I never actually heard of him until a friend who gave me a few days ago the song " Fu Ru Xue ". After I heard it I fell in love with his voice. Now that I seen some of the posts around the forums I realized I never actually seen how he looks like. There are a lot of reasons why I like Jay Chou. The main thing is that he writes/composes his own songs. I really like when a musician does that him/herself. He also has nice vocals and is extremely talented music wise. He can also sing with a lot of emotion to where it just makes you go 'wow'.-- and love him more. He also is open to starting new things, like acting. Even though some people says his acting sucks, I still think that he was pretty good. I decided to get Initial D and Curse of the Golden Flower because of him. =].

Jay Chou really caught my attention in his movie, "Curse of the Golden Dragon". While I was beside a guy I dated then, I was looking curiously and adoringly at Jay Chou. After, I started researching for his name and everything about him

Of course, I like him because he is truly drop-dead georgous! His stunts in the movie (Curse...) was artistically done. Then I learned of his music. His songs fill my MP3 (and nothing else!). We are born on the same year and he is a Capricorn (which is compatible with a Taurean) and I can say, I love dreaming about Jay Chou!
