for Sung Si Kyung i recommend u all of his albums.. (there r 3 of 'em), Shinhwa 6th album or My Choice (compilation from their 1-4 album + new song), Tim (only his debut album for this time being), Wheesung, IMHO his 1st album is better than his 2nd, and ParkJiYoon, her latest album is nice ;)
and as for Rain, i havn't heard his 2nd album yet.. but his 1st album is okay :)

i superly duperly love G.O.D! in fact their music got me into korean stuff coz i first encountered their music while shopping for utada albums. their songs were being played through the store's sound system and i liked the music so much i bought their 5th album without even knowing who they are.
if you want to, check out this record comapany site www.sidus.net they have tracks from their artists' albums to sample. the site is almost entirely in korean but i figured it out quite easily.
Shinhwa is good too. you might want to check out The Incredible Song Thread in the Downloads forum coz you might find some korean tracks there that other members have uploaded to share. or even just look around the downloads forum. :wink2:

"It's been a long time since I've performed, but I've learned a lot and have become much wiser" said Dabi, former female star of the co-ed duo "Bijou." The 26 year-old Dabi, (real name, Choi Hee Jin) has kept her fans waiting 3 long years for her musical career comeback.

After Bijou split up, she had been keeping herself busy by doing minor acting, studying music, and traveling. She had already graduated from university, but she felt that she needed more worldly knowledge to feel comfortable with herself and more secure with her future plans. After her long hiatus, Dabi has finally picked up the pieces and is ready to start afresh.

The debut album is titled "The Natural" for a specific reason. Dabi wanted to pursue styles of music she was not allowed to explore before, and express sides of her personality through her songs. She wanted her songs to have a natural, lighthearted feel, much like her own character, so she took charge of production and wrote 7 and composed 3 of the songs featured on the album. Her newfound knowledge and years of artistic experience are evident in the record, and Bijou fanatics have expressed their delight in the unique style Dabi has portrayed through her sweet melodies.

Dabi stated that she "did not want to focus so much on making a hit track." She believed that "the essence of music lies within the feeling put behind it. If the music is only made to sell, there is no real emotion in the sound, and it is not really music." Trying to ignore the pressures of her anticipated comeback, Dabi instead concentrated on making beautiful, agreeable music, lighthearted and without the burden of surrounding expectations.

The chosen title song is a dance track called "Never Say Never," composed by the legendary Kim Yoora. The style is somewhat French, as Dabi takes a liking to French culture and tradition. Although her performance will be a fast-paced and exciting one, the rest of the album is definitely not modeled after this one song, as she has experimented with R&B, pop, jazz, and other genres, diversifying her listening audience.

I also love Se7en! He's so cute, and I love the way he dances much better than most singers...

I don't listen to much Korean music, although I am Korean... I remember a couple summers ago (I think it was 2002?), I went to Korea for a month and all I watched there were the music channels on TV.

I used to like the song by Jadu, I think it's called "Eu Ack Seh." I have no clue what that is in English because my Korean sucks. There was also BoA's "No. 1" and "My Sweetie," but those got old after a while...way over played. Shinhwa's 5th album came out that summer, and I liked that one a lot. Another CD I like is G.O.D.’s 3rd album, which is just titled 3rd Chapter (...I think).

Anyway,i have this korean singer to recommend.I dont know whether u guys have heard of him before,his name is Han Kyung Il and i think he's gaining popularity in Korea.I only knew him when my friend from South Korea sent me a Han Kyung Il's album entitled No.1.I have heard of the whole album and i'm really amazed with what this guy can do.His songs are pretty cool,especially this song called "Swear" (i'm madly in love with it-it's just so so damn good!).I think u guys can know more bout him on www.hankyungil.co.kr

Hmmm, I'll just briefly mention artists who I think are really worth listening to and haven't been extensively covered.

Epik High - Hip-hop sounds so fun and light when you're hearing it from these three guys - nobody does it quite like them. Their background music shows the eclectic taste of the group, and even from listening to the English lyrics, you can tell that these three aren't about what American hip hop has become. Their messages are worth listening to and have a very human, very real quality to them. Recommended tracks? Pretty much anything from their album, Swan Songs, but I'd definitely give Fly and Let It Rain heavy listening.

Gummy - This is a very recent love of mine that developed after one too many visits to Lisa's clubbox. She's part of mboat, a division of YG, that also houses Wheesung (used to anyway) and Big Mama. I like her better than Lexy - she's got the soulful style I like, and as good as Lexy is, I think Gummy pretty much owns her as far as powerful voices goes.

I've discussed this with Kahel before, but her style and her voice is reminiscent of Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige; her songs consist of ballads, jazz, and r&b with a very old vibe to it. What makes Gummy different from Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige is her style tends more on the jazz side, and her voice is no where near as husky or low as Mary J Blige. Boy can she sing, though. I actually like her second album better than her third, but "Ani" from her third album is definitely worth a listen.

Clazziquai - This group hasn't gotten nearly as much loving as they should. Their style can best be described as a mix of acid jazz and pop (think an upbeat version of lounge music), and the only thing to be said, really? They're so smooth. Alex's soft vocals will positively melt you away. If they're not singing some soft, pretty lounge music number, they're singing something upbeat made for a club. I've yet to hear something from them I haven't liked. Tracks to get you hooked are She Is (from My Name is Kim Sam Soon), Salesman, Speechless, You Never Know, and Sweety.

SG Wannabe - As far as I'm concerned, they're the freaking kings of ballads. Sure, greats like Sung Shi Kyung get their own pedestal to be placed on, but no one does a ballad quite like this group. Their music is dramatic, orchestra filled, sad and depressing in every way - their voices are perfect to break your heart, and love them for giving you that kind of release. Recommends? Gwang, Saldaga, 24 hours.

Lee Soo Young - She's the queen of ballads. I didn't understand why at first, but then I listened to Colors of My Life, and it made sense. I really like the ancient and Oriental feel to some of her songs - it gives her songs a sense of timelessness to them. I haven't listened to her half as much as I should, but so far, I like I Believe, Wheel Reel Li, The Moment (LOVE THIS SONG) and Andante.

Aaaannnnd, the final one because I couldn't resist: god.
At first, it took me awhile to get used to them, but they are worth listening to. They mix a lot of old school into their music, and their songs can appeal to people of all ages. What really makes them wonderful? The sincerety in which they sing every single song. You can really feel the emotion they want to convey. I'd recommend their 4th or 7th album to everyone. As for tracks, 2Love / 2<3, Innocence, The Reason Opposites Attrack, Gil, One Candlelight, To Mother, and Into the Sky (<- This is like a goodbye to fans for many years to come and once you start to like this group, listen to this. It will have you crying your heart out. TT)

And yeah. Haha, K is also recommended, though I haven't listened to him nearly enough to accurately tell. And this is what happens when I have nothing to read. ._.

@ theskyisgreen: the same here! i mainly listen to kpop. there are just way more korean artists than chinese (at least that's my impression).
the only chinese musicians i listen to are the most popular, like Jay (of course :-))and maybe NQMM, S.H.E or Wang Leehom.
but there are like two dozen kpop bands/singers i really enjoy... and some of them i wouldn't even consider to be mainstream, like country kko kko or park hyun bin

don't know if anyone here still listen to her anymore, but Jang Nara is still one of my favorite kpop artist, and Boa too.

Most of the recent boybands, i just listen to it if they have a good song out, but definitely not a fan of any of those groups.
