Anything we should watch out for? (without giving away spoilers)

At first I thought this movie was a comedy because of the title (for some odd reason) but I heard that it was really, really bloody. It was originally going to be rated NC-17, but they took some things out and made it slightly less gory. That tells you something...

The website for the movie is really cool. :)
Even the actors themselves commented that it is really gonna be gory.

AHHH I wanted to see it.. I heard it was really good. But is it rated R? Grr.. if it is, then I'm going to need a fake ID.  :D

well, this is vol 1, and vol 2 will be out in feb 04. the reason it was split up to 2 cause the movie was too long or something, but we all know what the ending is...lol..just look at the title of the movie. in addition, if you liked pulp fiction you will like this one. = ) its like an bloody violent anime

i wanna see it again so bad!

I'm probably going to see it next weekend. I'm not that excited to hear that it's so violent though.

Seiichi
10-13-2003, 05:40 AM
but its bloody and violent in a surreal way...its like how anime like to exaggerate things...u know when u cut someone's head off the blood dont spray out and splatter every where on the wall. lol....

I just saw it yesterday... the only reason that I wanted to see it was because of Chiaki Kuriyama (GoGo), she looked really good by the way and had a really intense combat scene with Uma Thurman (who also looked great). I still though have no idea as to what genre this film is in (comedy? drama? action? SATIRE?). Quentin Tarantino makes alot of pop-culture references in his movies--this one being no exception to that rule. I didn't quite get all of them though because pop culture (American or Japanese) just doesn't happen to be one of my strongest suits. Regardless, you don't have to be so aware to enjoy the movie (or hate it) in my opinion.

It is pretty graphic and very violent, but...I thought that was kind of expected from Quentin Tarantino. Despite all of that, it was actually a very comedic film, kind of dirty humor, and Uma Thurman's character AKA Black Mamba or The Bride, was kick-ass! She was the embodiment of "Hell hath no wrath like that of women scorned"!

I hate gore.. I cringe at swords too. Guns are just so much cleaner.. sword fighting is so.. gritty.

jayx8318x
10-13-2003, 05:49 AM
Sword fighting is awesome cici!
It takes (at least a decent level of) skill to sword fight, shooting a gun is just one simple move, and boring to watch.

cici bebe
10-13-2003, 06:16 AM
Yeah, I have to say it's way cooler than guns.. But I'm quite the scaredy cat (though I don't like admiting it).. I don't like bloody scary things. I'll probably be grabbing my friend's arm the entire movie..... Nevertheless I must see it!!!

 *shudder*

it was entertaining enough...not something i would die to see. there's no ending to give away..hence "vol. 1". but lucy liu annoyed the hell out of me as expected, though i guess she could have been worse. definitely bloody, but not in such a gross way that you're completely repulsed by it. overall, worth seeing.

Seiichi

in a surreal bloody and violent way, it made me laugh...i love some of the lines int there....too funny.

10-13-2003, 07:00 PM
I thought Uma Thurman's moves were too slow. Especially in the Samurai scenes... I dunno. I didn't really believe her martial arts prowess because her moves were kinda slow... and kinda messy. Lucy Liu was faster, but I guess that's because she's had some training before?

Anyways, Go-Go kicked ass. I wish she was the main character.

Btw, yes, it was bloody, but the blood was so fake (fountain like blood spurts?) that I wasn't offended at all.

I saw the movie on Friday, the only stupid thing was the guy checked my ID to before I could go in. I think the movie is AWESOME. It was the best time I've had in a theatre. I love the sword fighting. It makes me want to buy samurai swords. Some parts of the movie are disturbing...like the anime part. But overall the movie was a funny and action packed.

What an unexpected revelation at the end eh?

the trailer made me laugh but it still made me want to see it because of all the sword fighting, too bad it's rated R, but that's ok my friend's the floor manager at the cinemas, hopefully he'll let me in for free.

Anyways, Go-Go kicked ass. I wish she was the main character.

FINALLY someone agrees with me~!

i just saw it like an hour ago. Quinton Teritino has yet to let me down.
i agree with Chun Li that Umas moves were rather slow, but she lacks the training that others have had.

i ADORED the anime sequence and the cinnamotography was the best i've seen in a long time. (this is comming from a film student major).

the angles, the cutting, the lighting.....it was all up to perfection.

i anxously await the second installment.

the reson for it being in two parts is because directior/writer Q.T. didnt want to make a 3 to 4 hour film, but he also didnt want to cut the hell out of his story.

RANDOM FACT: Q.T. had written 8 pages of this story around the time he made his film "Pulp Fiction".

Saw it on opening night ....i think this is actually the first Quentin movie i actually saw from the beginning until the end.

The movie has a very Quentin feel to it, gore, blood, swearing....heheheheh you get my meaning. ;)

Like the way it was film although i don't know if i would go for the second one....the violence in it is too much for me...will see when the time comes for Kill Bill vol 2.

i only saw the trailer to this movie, but i heard from critics that this will the most violent movie made in the USA... but what can you expect from a Quentin Tarentino film?... i've watched Pulp Fiction a long time ago... don't really remember if it was violent... i think i'll wait for the DVD release for this one.

Not what I had hoped for.
It was alright, some parts were too slow. Parts that I was hoping to be spectacular turned into a disappointment (Uma's fight with Lucy)
The anime part with Oren Ishii's background was cool though. Go-go Yubari = cool
Not dying to see it again or anything, the blood and gore got tiring after a while.
The soundtrack was pretty good.

*possible spoiler*

Some parts were just over the top unbelievable it was funny. I mean getting beat up by 5 assasins and shot in the head while you're pregnant, and STILL lived??!! haha

*end spoiler*

However, the revelation at the end makes me wanna see Vol. II

the blood stuff was ment to be funny.
am i the only one who got it?
Q.T. films all have that type of humor in them.

like in Pulp Fiction, a guys head spatters all over the back seat of a car, but he got shot by accident. see? funny.

maybe im just a sick and morbid person, but i find things like that hillarious.

i saw it yesterday and ummmm...wasn't planning to see it or anything...but just ran into the session...literally...hehahah^^

newais i fought it was really gory when they first used da samurai swords to chop body parts off...i was like...wtf? the blood just squirts out like a fountain....i was like.....ummmm....aiiight.......

but i liked the manga mix....it was good!!!

when uma [forgot her screen name] was going to the loo tho i fought the angle was terrible...it made my head spin and i felt really dizzy!!!

overall i fought it was alriht...even the techno was kinda good....can't wait to see the next one now....but lucy lui died....gosh they killed her off so quickly....

newais are there like 5 volumes to it or somthing....cos they only managed to kill off one of the viper assasin squad or wateva in one movie....so is it like a l-o-n-g movie series or....?

fill me in pplz....cos yeah me clueless...^^

no there are only 2 parts to it. she actually killed two if the Viper squad. the reast will be destryed in the next one.

the only reason why there are 2 parts is cuz the director Quentin Tarantino, made the script too long and didnt want to create a 4 hour movie, but he also didnt want to cut anything from his script. that is why~! o.k. now you know.

as for the blood spraying......that is the comedy element that carries throught all Q.T. films. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY~! not gross or offencive.

I just watched it today.

All i can say it's fun!~ The fighting scenes are great, though i feel that the action could be even faster. Only the last battle was a disappointment, it was pretty short and too much dialogue involved.

It's a pretty simple plot, i must say. But the very visual scenes make up for it. Especially the animation scene. I thought it was very welll done. To me, all those blood spurtings and limbs flying around were very comical, like that in manga but in real life. The music for the entire show sounds so good, i think i am going to get the soundtrack! Overall, it gives a very retro feel for the entire show.

My favorite character got to be Go Go Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama). I like the part where Uma Thurman was describing her and her madness and she was there, stabbing the poor guy and with those funny conversation. And yes, she looks so cool when she pulled out the knife as O-Ren Ishii asked her to check for anyone suspicious outside the room.

That was one part which i find it real funny, it's when the aeroplane is flying so near to the buildings when Uma Thurman is arriving at Japan~ Won't it crash into the buildings or something for flying at such low heights? And the buildings seem like they are actually model buildings from what i have noticed, so is the aeroplane~

I just saw the trailer again, and found some scenes not shown, perhaps they were cut or going to be in Volume 2? Well, i will find out soon coming Feburary.~

d/l ing films is wrong.
have you been to a theatre lately? before every movie starts they have a comercial that speaks out AGAINST doing this kind of thing.
movies arent made for free you know.

i just watched the film the other day with some friends of mine. at first i didnt even know what the film was about at all and was quite hesitant to watch it with them because they said it was really gorry and i figured it would be like those really scary jap or korean flicks with the really disturbing images and stuff, but after the first few minutes i was completely amazed by it. the cinematography was incredable!! the so called gorryness was so exagerated that it was hilarious, like the spraying of blood by a little cut!! hahaha. its one of the better films that i've seen in a long time.

has anyone seen the "grudge" as well? its that korean flick, also called "JU-ON", i think we had that topic up awhile ago... anyway, if anyone did see that as well, did you also notice how the beginning of both films we very similar? they way they showed the batterd woman dying and the errie music?? please correct me if i'm remembering wrong!!

CANT WAIT TO SEE THE SECOND PART!!

is it based on something japanese? cuz it's obviously got many japanese elements in it. quentin tarantino obviously is not japanese, so why did he do this movie? ... yeah i watched kill bill vol. 1 and i'm going to rent kill bill vol. 2 sometime. is it better or worse than the first? it was so violent though; but it wasn't a typical action movie, in my opinion. sure it had blood & gore, lots of it, but i think it had some artistic elements to it. not sure if i can pinpoint it, but it's really unique. (as all quentin tarantino films are i'm sure.)

MonkeyKing

vol . 2 shares nothing really in common with vol.1 apart from the plot n characters.... there is not massive blood gorey scene (well one but very short).... i think Queintin did Kill Bill cos he is a big movie buff n wanted to expand his horizons n cos he was a fan of Asian action movies, he took the challenge up. he (and uma thurman) actually came up with the concept behind kill bill during Pulp Fiction (u can find info like this on the Kill Bill Vol.1 DVD :bleh:)

Haha OK just saw Kill Bill 2 cuz it came out on DVD. I remembered enough of the first volume to get by.

One thing I wanna know is.. how the hell did Uma Thurman survive after getting shot in the chest by Budd?! You know, before he buried her alive? What happened to the bullet wound? She should've been half dead, so how was she was still able to punch her way out of the coffin?!

I still haven't seen volume 2, I'm gonna rent it out from the video store tonight, I think. I thought volume 1 was very funny, and a great movie all up. Very influenced by the classic Japanese film "Lady Snowblood", I think, they even used a song from the Lady Snowblood soundtrack.

but i thought the shotgun was really loaded with real bullets or i dunno? cos she was bleeding that much now was she? if anything, the blood she had was from the fall and impact of the shot...

anyway, ... i love kill bill as u can tell from my avatar and banner

i've watched this a while ago... i like the action and dialogue... the blood scenes were a bit extreme, but it's still very entertaining.

as for vol. 2, i've watched it a few weeks ago... i like the first one better because of the action (and gore)... this one had more long-winded dialogue... but the fight scenes are still very good.

Oh Kill Bill is love <3

I liked the first volume much better though, because it was more oriental, more action, more esthetic. The second one has way too much conversations. uuugh especially the last one with Bill, it was just so boring, I want ACTION! I thought they were going to going to fight, with guns and swords, fists, etc. o_O it lasted about 10 seconds and Beatrice ends up killing him with her 5 point-heart-attack-thingie. ... I was expecting more blood than that!

and my favorite character is, of course, Go Go Yubari. She's such an adorable little psychotic girl!! plus, she's very pretty as you can see on my icon. I would love to be her friend. =]

The second one has way too much conversations. uuugh especially the last one with Bill, it was just so boring, I want ACTION! I thought they were going to going to fight, with guns and swords, fists, etc. o_O it lasted about 10 seconds and Beatrice ends up killing him with her 5 point-heart-attack-thingie. ... I was expecting more blood than that!

that's why i had to fast forward some parts that's a little long-winded  ... but i'm sure i didn't miss out too much important info... my favorite was that fight scene with that woman with the patched eye (forgot her character name  )

haha I pressed the FF button a few times too!
I think her name's Mountain Snake. Ok that scene was disgusting but fast, my friend described it to me before I saw it and his description was much grosser than the real scene -_-;; She squashed the eyeball with her bare feet!!

I probably missed a few important dialogues, because I don't understand why Pai-Mei taught Beatrice the 5-point-heart-attack-thingie...

lol, i'm glad i'm not the only one who did that

thanks for the reminder... well, that part was disgusting, but the fight scene was great!... i've been anticipating for that scene since i've watched vol. 1

as for the 5-point-heart-attack thingie, i don't think it was explained why Pai-Mei taught her... unless i missed that part from ff-ing too much

Love everything in this movie!!
The part in the hospital kinda gave me a creep...
And I like the part where Uma fought in the Japanese restaurant, and the Japanese gal...she's so gorgeous but in a creepy way.
Overall, I think Kill Bill 1 is much better than Kill Bill 2

Haha OK just saw Kill Bill 2 cuz it came out on DVD. I remembered enough of the first volume to get by.
One thing I wanna know is.. how the hell did Uma Thurman survive after getting shot in the chest by Budd?! You know, before he buried her alive? What happened to the bullet wound? She should've been half dead, so how was she was still able to punch her way out of the coffin?!
Exactly! There's like blood oozing from her chest and she could barely get up after getting shot and then all of a sudden, you see her punching her way out of the coffin with ease!

What the heck? That part just spoiled part 2 for me. I tried, but I couldn't suspend my disbelief (though I could for part 1 where she basically butchers the Crazy 88 nonstop haha).
