Welcome to JC.net's
Newbies Sanctuary! :welcome:

JCnet is a big forum, with several sub-forums and threads that leave many of our new members dizzy. We started this forum to encourage newbies to familiarise themselves with the foruming-JCnet style, while giving you space by relaxing the reinforcement of rules. This will be the one true sanctuary for newbies, for everyone to "test waters" before you head out into the wider world. We will "remind" more than actually taking "action" on you. So, go ahead and post, don't worry if you make mistakes. Below is a brief survival guide intended to assist you with functioning at this site.

[Newbie’s Survival Guide]

1. Have you read our Forum Rules (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152) yet?
Please make sure you familiarise yourself with our rules and abide by them.
As a new member, if you cannot follow these rules after guidance, we will confine your posts within the newbie forum. If you continue to disregard the rules after warning, you will be banned.

2. Do you know who your moderators/admins (http://www.jay-chou.net/staff.php) are yet?
Contact them if you need help, or use our Contact Us (http://jay-chou.net/forums/sendmessage.php) form.
The Newbie Sanctuary moderators are ColaPoP (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/member.php?u=4808) and pamujung (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/member.php?u=1425).
For friendly advice/guidance, sign-up for the Buddy Program (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=277621).

3. Have you read the FAQ (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/faq.php?) yet?
ALL common questions about Jay and this site have been answered in the FAQ (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/faq.php?) or NEWBIES FAQ (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20130).
If there is a Jay question you need answered, post in the Jay Questions & Requests (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=21) forum.
If you have a question about the site, post in the Help/Feedback (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26) forum.

4. How do you get into the Jay Multimedia sub-forum?
You must be in the Registered Users group. When you first join, you are placed in the newbie group until you make some posts around the forum. Once you have done so, you will be moved into RU.

5. How do you post?
First of all, your account needs to be activated before you can post. After that, just click the "new reply" button or the "new thread" button if you want to make a whole new topic. These buttons are at the top of the topic or the forum you are viewing.

6. Have you introduced yourself yet?
Feel free to create a new thread in the Newbies Sanctuary to tell us a bit about yourself.

7. Have you gotten to know any of the Socializing groups (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20174) yet?
You can find and talk to the members of each social group in the Social Lounge (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=33).
You may want to join one of these groups further down the track.

8. This is a big site. Rules and functions are updated on a regular basis.
To check for such updates so that you're not in the dark about big changes, go to the Announcements (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34) forum.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, to help make your stay here a lot more pleasant, please keep 2 things in mind whilst browsing and posting at jay-chou.net:
1. We enforce the forum rules, and have the appropriate reputation for doing so. Do not be surprised if your posting privileges are confined to this forum, reputation points docked, or banned after adequate warning. We clearly state the rules and guidelines, it's your job to follow.
2. This site is run off the good will of the members and admins/moderators. We do NOT tolerate ungrateful members, and we absolutely HATE leechers. Remember this site is free for you, but costs us time & money to run. Bottom line is, never come here DEMANDING anything from us.
11 Simple Rules
The JC.net Forum Rules (simplified version)
(The Official Forum Rules are here (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152))
1. Don’t post crap (ie - Posting off topic comments, or constant one-liners)
2. Make your topic titles descriptive, NO "suspense" titles allowed.
3. Post in the appropriate forum (ie - 'News on Jay' in Jay News. Not Small Talk
4. Do NOT spam the forums or solicit JCNET members via PM
5. Give credit to whomever it belongs
6. Use the SEARCH (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/search.php) function, or just look around before posting!
7. Don't post a topic to a specific person
8. Follow the banner rules (http://www.jay-chou.net/bannerrules.htm)
9. Type in readable ENGLISH (Not: "tyPinG LyKe DiS" "I love waterballooons" or "ENTIRE POSTS IN CAPS").
10. REFRAIN FROM using loads of Singlish, Manglish, or any other special dialects
11. Chinese & other foreign characters not allowed without translation
I've put the simplified rules here, but read the Official Forum rules (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=152) if the details seem sketchy to you.
As long as you follow these points, there'll be happy days ahead~ :D
