Hopefully celebrities like Jay or Leehom would attend this event.. Haha. Not many people attended last year's Hit Awards in Singpore... By the way, this will be held on the 27th October, Saturday...

Maybe you can try pitstop cafe? The concept is pretty much like settlers cafe (food/drinks + board games), but from what I recall, pitstop has better food. :tongue:

TAF club didn't work for me too. I'm still as round like a ball. And now without PE lessons, I think I became rounder. :worry:

Speaking of National day, did anyone catch the Italy fireworks display over at Marina/Esplanade yesterday?

A theme week would be good but we have to decide it fast as National Day is only 3 days away.

I don't even have a National flag so therefore I've never hung it outside my flat before :oops:

And I can't seem to understand the balloting system. I couldn't get my tickets this year too. A bit sad because it is the last NDP at the National Stadium before they tear it down. :sad:

I've stopped applying for the NDP ballots. For some reason, the 2 times I've tried, I got the tickets. And my family who'd like claimed they want to go will like "hmm, don't feel like going liao" last minute. SO ANNOYING! Then I'd have to end up in a mad scramble to like give the tickets away. I mean... I just don't feel right to "waste" the tickets. :sweat:

Kidding. But what I like is the beautiful designs of the tickets yearly. But the balloting system isn't always good. The only good side to it I can see is that we don't have to queue for the tickets. I guess many Singaporeans are unhappy with it because it is not transparent enough in terms of the balloting and selection process.

I missed queuing for NDP tickets. I did that twice before with a bunch of friends and on one occassion, we queued overnight after we caught wind of one of the distribution centers. :sweat: But that was ages ago.

I was just trying my luck during 2003 when I think the balloting system just started for about 2 years. And I got the tickets for the preview.

But at that time my ex was also one of the motivators that time, so he got tickets to the preview too. Luckily I managed to give it to my friend and her cousin.

Since then I haven't tried to get tickets to NDP, maybe I should try next year. Next year's NDP will be the field near Esplanade right? (I suddenly forgot what that place is called).

Hmm, actually I didn't mean the Padang, I thought it was the field opposite Marina Square, next to Esplanade. They will even make stage/floor extensions to the sea for the performances.

Yeah, I think they're construction some giant floating stage for the coming NDPs until the new stadium is up. But I heard that the seating capacity is very small compared the the National Stadium. Heard it can only contain 15,000 people.

But the Parade will still take place at the Padang once every 5 years. It's a tradition. However, every year it was held there, some problems will occur for sure. Because it is very difficult to coordinate everything on the Padang as compared to the Stadium.

I never liked parades held at the Padang though.

I've never been to the padang to watch NDP before... but during the parade last year (at padang), i saw people building the seats and the stage at that time... when i saw it then, i got a shock.. cos the seats looks really flimpsy to me, and looks like its going to fall apart.. not to mention, so many people sitting on it. okay, maybe its still at the very beginning stage, but it still looks very scary to me.. anyway, i'm glad that nothing happened then.. *touchwood* :P

I was a Marina Square on Saturday, but I didn't know there was the fireworks display. I went to the food court for dinner and was suprised to see a large crowd at around 9pm. Later on the fireworks came, but I just stood at quite a distant to watch it as it was too packed at the open area. After the display, the food court was still packed with so many people even at 10pm. Normally, most of the stalls will be closed. And the stall selling the roast duck/char siew stall was having a long queue at 10pm. They used to close at around 9.15pm.

Lol, I was also discussing with my cousin about our money being shot up in the sky!! This year wasn't too bad as there are only 4 displays. Last year Singapore had countless of fireworks display during National Day period, Christmas and Chinese New Year!

The weirdest thing is that the current stadium can hold about 60,000 people, and I think the new stadium is can fit about another 10,000 people. Someone did mention in the Straits Times forum that they should at least increase the seatings for about 80,000 people.

There are so many news to keep track of, I too sometimes just watch alittle on TV or read some news on the net. I'm actually very pissed about the fare hike on buses and MRT which will start in Oct.

Yeah.. they've been wanting to tear down the staduim for the last 2 or 3 years now. Only this year they finally decided to do it. The new one will be at the same place it is now, and will be completed 2010 if I'm not wrong.

I just came back from the fireworks display too! But I wasn't one of those who chop seats at Marina, so don't scold me laruku. :tongue: I was standing at the Highway outside fullerton. It's the best view really. But the down side is, me and my friend stood there since 7.30PM, yes, over one and a half hours because that was a good spot and we were lucky to get them.

But what I don't like about today's display... is that they used National songs to coordinate the fireworks! :oops: People usually use classical music and such... I nearly fainted when they used the song, "Home" as one of the songs for the display, because the timings for the fireworks are all wrong! My friend who was with me nearly died when she heard that. :sweat:

Yes, a few weeks ago, LTA mentioned that they will have a GPS system on every bus stop, showing commuters when the bus will arrive. Also, during peak hours, they will make sure that every bus will only be 90% full so all commuters can get onto it.

The fare hike is due to the cost of implementing this system. Each ride will increase 1-2 cents. I'm just wondering why they even need to increase the fare of MRT since this only concerns the buses?

Yes! The fee hikes! Even though they said the increase was only between 1 to 3 cents... but, one cent per day, one month 30 cents, and one year $4.20 leh!

And what's worse, PM Lee defended it by saying that fee hikes are inevitable. :oops: "But we will do whatever we can to help those in need for them to cope with the raising costs." he says.

If anymore fee hikes, I'll join the needy as well! :oops:

Well, at least the concession passes stay the same, but then again, how many people are holding concession passes out there. :worry:

And there definately won't be any more progress packages this year seeing that they just handed them out last year. I think we have to wait a few more years for them.

And you are right, how many of us are holding concessions these days? (I know mine just expired) The rising cost of living is inevitable but i think there is a serious problem of getting the general wage level increase to be on par with the cost of living in Singapore. Anyway, this seems to be getting a little too out of my realm...

Anyway, we can wait for approximately 2 to 4 years for the progress package. My guess will be 4 to 5 years though... (Anyone wants to make a guess?)

May: About book publishers in Singapore... I can try to ask if any one of my friends are in the industry (though i seriously doubt it) but will it be easier if you can ask the Malaysian publisher to introduce some Singapore publisher to you? Perhaps they have contacts? After all they are in the same industry.. Just a suggestion... I'll try my best to ask around though don't get your hopes high. (I hope we can get it publish here.. If not, I'll have to go over to get a copy of it! haha)

Haha!okok..Basically its a game that consist of 77 heroes or characters to choose from..each specialise in its own skills..you gain levels slowly throughout the game as you slay enemies' minions and killing the opponents you are against with gives you great advantages over them in the start..you have to learn to earn gold..ganging up against the opposing team players..and you have to be quick with the keyboard too!..so overall..you must be alert and trust your intuition as enemies may backstab you..try it some time soon..but don't get addicted...initially you will!Hahaha:-)

The plaza points thing is still the same just that the way people get to earn points will be changed (the current system will let those translating news etc to basically "print money"... translation is good, but it's way out of proportion). In the future plaza points can actually be used to "buy" items (for example the password thing which is already in place).

I am not sure which point system you are refering to... erm the "infraction" point system? It's basically a demerit point system that we can basically give demerit points for a post, and basically we can "mark" out members who are fringing on the rules. Eventually, it's clearer to us why X member has to be disciplined by a ban etc... and it won't come as a surprise for him. (I'm not 100% sure how that works at the moment, no official user guide is given at this point. This is a new forum hack that Karen implemented)

Reputation points pretty much remains the same.


SGers who post regularly here may have their post counts affected cos the SG forum is already cleaned up (we have age old threads with broken links and such, now its a neat 2 page worth). You may still get posts deleted while the other areas are cleaned up. Good news is, you shouldn't be losing massive numbers of post from here anymore.

Through it hasn't been officially announced yet, I'm thinking that the pre-order period will start end of next week, or early next next week the latest. The Pre-order period usually lasts for 10 days. So do the math a little, it should be up by next week end. But that's just me, you can never be sure.

The first single off the album 千里之外 will be played across Asia on the 23 August. And at the same time, the Pre-order activities will be kick-started across Asia on the same date.

Actually, Jay seldom gai ban I think, the only time I remember him doing it is for the QLX album to promote his Incomparable Concert. Other than that, I don't remember him changing editions. November's Chopin was also a one-off edition. Only thing is that the Pre-Order edition cost $1 more and comes with a Jay poster.

And it's also announced the album will be called 依然范特西 - Still Fantasy. Reminds me of his older albums. Cool. :happy:

Looks like the comments for Qian Li Zhi Wai is pretty good. 93.3fm has just played it and they have received over 160 sms and 90% out of it said it's really good. The 10% felt that listening to FYQ and Jay's voice together is weird.

And they're having this "poll" now because lots of the sms wishes them to play the song again. So if the DJs receive 50 sms-es in 5 minutes, they will replay the song. (They can't play a same song twice in an hour, so they will break this rule).

I've just checked with Sembawang after my paper just now, they have confirmed it to be this Friday 26th August for the Pre-Order to start, 933 announced the same thing as well. In fact, Sembawang are already starting to collect payment if customers want to pay for it first, at least this is what the branch near my place is doing. Actually, what the lady from the Sembawang near my place told me is that they are unsure whether or not the poster will come together with the album itself or with the pre-order, but she said to be safe, it will come with the album, because she told me that SONY BMG keeps delaying the stock indefinately.

And I think we can get it a day before the actual release, or rather, the night before. Because, like I said earlier, I received my November's Chopin the evening before it was released. And on the day of its offical release, other than the copies of reserved for those who pre-ordered, all of the albums were sold out by dinner time that day. Super ridiculous lah. So, play safe, pre-order, confirm can get your copy when its released. :bleh:

Personally, I never buy any of my albums from CD Rama. Had one bad experience years ago, and ever since then, I never wanted to step into one again. Besides, they always seem slow on album releases, especially on those albums that aren't that popular.

Haha... You're so right ene, just look at the number of stock HMV had leftover during Jay's last album.

Even though the poster is only supposed to be given away for the pre-order editions, but anyone who purchased the album after its release will still get it anyways. The same happened for Leehom's GSYX album, I purchased mine like one week after the release, and I still got the VCD that was supposed to be for the pre0order edition, what's more, I got the album at $1 cheaper then the pre-order price. :tongue:

I, for one, never put up the posters in my room, and I GAVE AWAY the poster that came with NC because I know I won't put it up, better to give it away to someone who wants it rather than letting it collecting dust and eventually throwing it away.

Chrissy, you should really go get leehom's GSYX concert DVD, it's great! Even better, he sang a lot of his older songs! Well worth the money, for me at least. =)

Haha, cloth posters. A good idea, but that will cost Alfa more money. I doubt they will do that. Actually on my way back in the bus I was pondering why did they give free poster again. Actually I was expecting the jigsaw puzzle as the freebie for preorders like in YesAsia.

I also didn't put up the NC poster last year, the holder is collecting dust near my TV. I only have a Jay poster up, it's the Teenage calender from the magazine I bought last year on my door.

There's also a handphone key ring with Jay's name which is very pretty but you have to purchase it upon preordering in Taiwan.

Hahahas yeah, you can preorder as many as you want. I preordered four copies, cos also helping my friends x) Aye should still have the posters. Maybe it's busier over in town, but the Sembawang branch I went to in Eastpoint had tons of posters :X

Yeah & I know Bugis has a Sembawang outlet, & there's this Music Store on the Third Floor, I think, in Bugis Junction. But it should be safer to order from Sembawang XD

It's just that past experience has made me realise that music shops do bring in like TONS of stock when they know it's going to be selling like hot cakes. Not going to reflect very well on them if they run out of stock after the 1st week after its release eh ? :wink2:

To be honest, I don't need any freebies to come along with the album. As long as it's a good piece of work, I don't need anything extra to "attract" me to buy it. Hasn't anyone realised that it's usually the Asian (Taiwanese?) artistes that have really elaborate packaging?

I checked out Sembawang Music at Jurong Pt but they say i can only collect the album at westmall because the shop is closing on the 3rd Sept, before jay's album reaches..

Yes - I'm serious, I'm always serious when it comes to Jay - I will be going to Taiwan to see him but I won't chase him lah - only go for his autograph session or any other programs that he will be appearing on, too risky to chase in Taiwan.

Jas: In every country, there's their own version. There are little differences here and there but very minimal. It's the same for alot of artiste's CDs. At the back of the CD, there will be prints like SonyBMG Singapore etc.

The hardwork of the artist all gone to waste just because it got leaked. Please people, if you truely support an artist, do do go purchase an original copy of the album. Its okay if you want to download it and get a sample of what its like, but please, support original!

Ok everyone, let me just state my stand here. To me, downloading stuff is okay. And, you know, why not? "Everybody does it" I'm sure everybody will say that. And its true. I'm not denying that.

The touchy issue here is, people like us are upset because this time around, it is Jay's album we're talking about. Okay fine, as Jay fans, we get upset, disgusted over it, as any fan of their idols should. But just stroll over to our downloads and links section, what are we doing ourselves to other singers? What message are we trying to send to the fans of other singers? So its not okay for an album upload of a leaked version for Jay, but it is okay for a leaked version for some other singer? Isn't that contridicting?

Well, my take is this. It is eventually down to you to make the call. And I'll admit that I do download other singers album from here once in a while, but I'll also say that, if I liked what I heard, I'll buy myself a copy of the original. I mean, if you don't like what you heard, natually you'll delete the files away. But we're now talking about a leaked album even before it was released.

Sigh... forget it. This is a never ending debate and this is the internet, who cares about ethics in the first place.

Yup, the part where the stage curtains opened, they edited and put Jay sitting at the theatre instead of FYQ singing. :happy:

And I've also watched 100% Entertainment today, and they showed a news on Jay at the China HELLOMOTO event, you all can catch the repeat early morning tomorrow at 12.30am. The exact time of the news is about 40 minutes into the show so it will be shown around 1.10am. :wink2:

But I can tell you that we're definately meeting up and going to Jay's concert the next time he comes here for his concert. (Hopefully this year as he promised, though I highly doubt that possibility. :oops: )

finn1986, no one knows for sure here. Because firstly, the Alfa Music site says tuesday, then someone heard on Yes 933 that its on the 8th still, and I heard from Sembawang that its on the 8th.

Once again, there is no point debating on when we're getting it. Since we've pre-ordered, let's just wait for the music stores to give us a call. We kan-jiong also cannot get the album now anyways. :sweat:
