I remember seeing many musicians perform each night at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
I hope they have something where Jay can perform.
Then the whole world will know who he is!
But even if he does perform, I wonder if the U.S. will show it because it's not in English. :hmm:

i think they would...why not? it'll be so awesome, jay can definately use the publicity since he wants to gain more attention outside of asia

oh, i think it's definitely a possibility! if jay's popularity continues to rise in china in the next few years, he'd definitely be one of the top choices to perform as an artist at the olympics. and i think jay would love that opportunity to share his music with the world. i think US would show it for sure. they have to. it's broadcasted across the globe. when it comes to the olympics, i don't think it matters if the song is in chinese (when hosted in china) or some other language if held in another country. i really hope that the organizers would consider inviting jay to perform at the olympics. i think that would be so awesome b/c through it, awareness of "chinese music" will be heightened all around the world! everyone will have a chance to witness chinese talent. :D

don't know yet. i thought there was this dicussion about people nominating to sing in beijing 2008. (i'm not sure, i think :?) but anyway, by that time, 5 years from now do you think Jay will still be in the music industry? he's like 24 now and in 5 yrs he's 29. he said he wanna get married etc when he's 30. He might not be as hot as now. He might be at his peak or climax of popularity now.. maybe. but i certainly hope he'll perform by then. let the whole world know what Jay is. and what they have missed out on for so many years. :)

He's not going to be hot as now???
how's being hot or not going to effect his performance?
kahel
10-09-2003, 09:21 AM
i believe by then he would be a hot commodity not only in the chinese entertainment but perhaps also the world entertainment scene. especially now, chinese pop is reaching people not only in east asia but other parts of asia as well...
so he'd definitely be in.let's just hope he doesn't retire yet by then. he started out young, you know.

Hope that he will perform there... but by then.... don't know if we would still like his music...

not being as hot = not gonna be invited
but it's just my assumption. he might continue on to be even more famous. the 2nd elvis probably. hahah~

Yeah i agree with tt. The entertainment industry is quite 'cruel'. But i think Jay will remain as popular as he is now or even more popular when tt day comes. :)

i dont' know..not to bring politics into this..but considering that taiwan is so into declaring their independence to the world (they have their own sports teams that go to the olympics)...i don't know if china would even really ask jay. ::shrug:: or if jay would say yes. wait, he's be stupid to say no.. but anyway...i'm just not sure. and of course yah, he might not be that popular then. ::crosses fingers::

Really hope to see Jay..Hope there will be no political issue cos music is universal right?

10-17-2003, 11:53 AM
I hope Jay can!! I would love to see him singing on stage to so many ppl!
Btw...if he failed to do so..dun give such stupid reasons that he couldn't make it cos his mumbles too much!

Well, I hope Jay would still have the same position in Chinese music industry as today in the year of 2008. I kinda doubt that he would still be number one in the year of 2008 as maybe some talented newcomers would take away his spot.
Oh well, I do hope that he would still create good music and still as famous as nowadays 5 years from now. But, let's just face the fact. There is a chance that he would no longer keep the top spot by then. I'm not doubting his talent or ability. But time and changes might rub out his fame/style.

hmmm......its possible that jay isnt SOOOOOO big like elvis presley or someone to perform at the Olympics yet..yup..but obviously i'll love for him to perform at the Olympics man..

10-21-2003, 10:28 AM
Well if he's still in the music industry and is chosen to do it.... that would be awesome! Aww.. but he'll be so much older.... and then there's the possibility of him being not a popular now as it does seem quite possible to be his peak right now.... :( as everyone else is saying. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see, no?
it doesnt matter to me if Jay sings his first or latest song in the next 5 years at the 2008 olympics... once he is performing... and by that time i may be able to go to china then so it will be just perfect timing... even if i don't make it... i hope i can just watch him on tv... how great it will be!!!
we just have to keep supporting him and he'll still be on the top of chinese music in 2008... c'mmon you all... Yay for Jay!!!
He can do it!!!

Hmm..the whole China/Taiwan thing..do you think there'd be a lot of political red tape to go through? That would suck..but it's be so awesome if he could perform! I'd be jumping and screaming across the room while watching it and pointing at the tv screen, screeching "That's my Jay! I've been obssessed with him since like forever!!" Haha..in 5 years I'd be 22. OMG i'd be in med school by then..(hopefully) most likely I'll be passed out when he's performing

i hopPE that Jay will be performing in the olympic~.. but it'll be so long away!!!

I hope Jay would sing in the Opening or the closing ceremony of the Olympics 2008 in Beijing. That would boost up his popularity even more! But until now, China and Taiwan still have those 'political-tension' that was born between those two countries since the age of Mao Tze Dong, right? if those hatred still there, it's gonna be hard for Jay to be able to perform in the Olympics...probably someone else.

11-14-2003, 12:06 PM
if only he'll perform. he's so hot! Why don't they just let him perform, sure he'll do a great and super job! Plus, great applause and appreciation from all the audience!! Well, at least from me and everyone from jay-chou.net!! :D

I really hope to see him performing at Olimpics. But do u think that the Chinese government will let a Taiwanese to sing at their Olimpics? surely they prefer their hometown singers. Not from other country specially taiwan.
cos i think the rivalry between both countries already there for a long time.

I defintly think they would because I hope so.
why not????
Hmm.....

hmm...i hope he does...that'll be so cool..not only would it increase his popularity but it would be a good form of peace for the two countries...
but seeing the two countries' rivalry...it seems highly unlikely...
But i would like to see jay performing there...it'll be great to watch...
maybe even compose a song just for the olympics....

01-15-2004, 12:21 PM
well.. at first i was thinking that he'll oribably sing in the olympicsbuh considering all the stuff has got in to there for instance "signing diao" on a fanz poster and all the long quan problemz i have this little feeling that they won't bother asking him

y cant taiwan and china just get along...life was so simple 1000 ( iduno how many) yrs ago..so freakn complicated now with all the politics and business and rules and laws and...i guess makes the world run smoother...coz humans are just too complicated..y cant life just be SIMPLE??...im getting so outa topic here...=p
i kinda doubt that jay will be singing at the olympics...well, we neva know, maybe the 2 countries will be beta by 2008! let us cross our fingers and pray^^

Yea! I hope he will perform! Though Jay would be like 29 by then! He would still be the Jay we know, except more mature! By then, maybe his music career would really hafe heightened to a erm..? higher peak?
4 years do seem a long way down though. it's half a decade! haha.. this is getting carried away..

That would be really cool if Jay would sing at Beijing olympics, but 5 years is a long time from now. And that seems like a long time to antifcipate for. By then Jay could be married, or he might not be singing as much and start writing music instead. I would like to see Jay stay around forever, but I think that he may not want to stay in music for that long, more rather just start writing music for other artists. Honestly I would rather see him leave the music industry in his 30's than have him stick around like Zhou Hua(dont know his english name)or Ekin Cheng who really arent that good anymore but still make music anyways.
Sorry Im kind of negative on this, just my opinion.

Zhou Hua Jian [Emil Chou] makes music? I thought he only sing them. So far, those i heard are nice and melodious and full of meaning. He's not tt bad after all la! :) I dont know bout Ekin Cheng though. Is he a hong kong-er? Never heard of his music.
Anyway, i hope Jay would still be as good no matter how old he gets. As long he thinks the music is diao, its good enough! i remember once a host of a variety show ask him "when would you stop writing music? or rather reach the limit of you creativity?" He said "till the earth stops rotating" Cool! I doubt his creativity will end that fast since he is just like a sponge! Have more confidence in him! Haha!
Oh wow! I sure hope he performs! I'm going back to China just for teh 2008 olympics!! If he doesn't perform I'll be so disappointed... >< Alot can change in 5 years though... Jay might even not be singing anymore... But let's not think of bad thoughts now. Think happy thoughts.... *Jay will perform. Jay will perform. Jay will perform*

that would be so diao! let's show the world the best we've got! it would be really stupid of america not to air it though, why wouldn't they? just cause they dont nessecarily understand the language doesn't mean they cant appreciate the music and just because they have a different culture doesn't mean they cant recognize jay's talent. he should really perform! oh! he should perfrom shanghai 1943!!! (cause it's related 2 china)

four years is a long time, but his talent in music should last even though he may not perform onstage. gosh, makes me think if we would still be around on this site in four years. anyways, it would be great if they could use his 'ping pong' song somewhere in the opening ceremonies. afterall doesn't China have the THE top pinpong players?

05-16-2004, 04:24 PM
he should, he definitely would!!
i can imagine listening to another 4 of his albums in the next four years. this is because he says that he'll come out with an album each year. (so far so good) he'll probably fight the test of time against young artists and still be there on top.
after all, his music is eternal.
i can see him on the stage with his piano right now. if this is really gonna happen....
Look out Beijing! Here I come!! come on now...how many times are ya gonna see Jay perform at the Olympics?

I think that it would be a good possibility, but at the same time, what will he be doing in 5 years? He'll be 28! Would he already have moved into the director's seat? Or will he be still making music?
I think that .. China would be really conservative of who they pick since the are quite conservative and everything is on their shoulders.. i.e. at the CCTV awards, look what Jay had to go through.. endless amounts of practices to correct his mumbling and mispronunciations.. and then the newspaper mentioned he had a hard time getting back to mainland.. and the whole diao incident that happened at Qing Dao..
I'm not saying he's bad at all but, the whole world who's seeing the show isn't going to have the same appreciation and love we all have for him because we're fans.. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if they found a neutral looking guy to sing so the whole world doesn't have this weird stereotype about how the asian media looks.

well i think if his level of popularity is as big as it is now..he would have a big big chance of performing there..but like in 4 yrs time..alot can change in 4 yrs..
i still think he'll be singing n composing tho..but like..you never know what new artist will come out..n take away his limelight...so i doubt he'll be as popular...
but then he might be like andy lau..whose still really popular...n his like 40 now..n he started in the entertainment industry when he was like in his early 20's...
but then...jay might decide to have a rest or something..during some time in the 4 yrs..
but like..since he said before in some interview..that he'd like to be known all around the world in another like 2-3 years time or something...his popularity wouldnt really stump low that quickly anyway..n there's a big chance he wouldnt be taking any lonf rest anytime soon..
n plus..jay incorporates chinese style in his songs..n the people organising the olympics in their country..always have singers n performances that show different aspects of their culture to the world..
like in 2000 olympics in australia..the opening ceremony had like all the aboriginal stuff..n outback kinda thing going on...
so if jay still continues having 1-2 songs with chinese style in his albums..[n coz not many other artists do.]..i'd say he'd be pretty high on the list of choices of artists that could perform...as long as his popularity is still fairly ok..

what you said is so true!
the people who goes to the olympics are cheering for jay, not the athletes! But i guess, the fans would only go to the opening ceremony, i don't think it will have much effect for the athletes.
But it'll be weird though, when you turn on the tv, and here fan-gifls screaming for jay in the opening ceremony :D

Arn't the opening ceremony tickets already sold out?
Anyway I think Jay has a good chance of performing.
But it would be cooler if there was a collab between Jay, David, Leehom, JJLin, and like the other composers/singers. That way we can show the world the "dragons' in chinese music.

Totally agree with your thoughts. By the time the 2008 Olympics come, Jay's popularity should be bigger than now and by then, the olympic committee should absolutely consider Jay as a choice to perform. I do believe the U.S. will show it because when the Olympics was at Salt Lake City and they had American performers, I think they showed the American performances at countries that don't really speak chinese. So it is only fair that they show a chinese performance if there was one especially if it is Jay's. I hope the Olympic organizers will invite Jay to perform and hope Jay would accept the offer if they do so. Jay would want to show the rest of the world his singing and spread his popularity to all parts of the world.

I really do hope Jay will perform in the Beijing Olympics. And I think the possibility is quite high too, coz well yeah, he's the Heavenly King of Cpop! Surely they want to promote Asia's finest artistes for the whole world to see...

I'll be very shocked if Jay doesn't perform in the 08 Beijing Olympics. I think a bigger question will be whether he performs in the opening or closing ceremonies. My guess is that he'll probably be in the closing ceremonies just because the opening ceremonies tend to be more of a showcase of traditional culture, while the closing ceremony tends to be a showcase of pop culture.

i think they would not let him perform in the 2008 olympics because it is one event that is shown in the worldwide tele and printed in the international papers. if it was something for china or other chinese nations, probably he would have a number to perform. I would say that coco lee would perform because she is really known worldwide. Jay Chou should start learning english and learn english good so that the people of the world would know him and his music.

Erg..jay is famous, that's correct. But there are so many better well known asian artists out there...like david tao.
when jay gets older, I guess he will. but i don't think that they will let him right now.

okay, first of all i was never aware that singers actually performed at
the olympics!!!! XD but I would be so ecstatic if Jay performed! and the US
better as heck show it all cuz i will kick their behinds if they don't since i
live in the us!!!! grr!!
anyways, yeah, and it would make more people aware of Jay! that would
be great! oh , i really hope Jay gets to perform! isn't there going to be like
a bunch of other singers too? so Jay is a MUST since he is even called King of
Pop by China is known as the best!! so it don't make sense not to have him
be one of the people that performs!
i'd love to watch the olympics even more!!! <3jay!!

Jay is most likely to perform at Beijing 08
Dragon Fist and Fearless are his hopefuls
along with many other artists like Lee Hom and such...
Heres a link on Baidu to on the most likely songs that will be perfomed

Well Jay wasn't invited to sing "We Are Ready' for the '08 olympics which i thought was kind of weird... he was certainly a better singer than some of the ones that were asked to sing it.
I'm not sure if the Taiwan/China tension have anything to do with this  I have a feeling there will be a lack of taiwanese artists participating in the event.
I also don't think Jay should perform in English if he gets the chance. This is China's olympics, not Australia, not USA, not Canada or any other English speaking nation. They are watching to learn more about our culture.. in this case, music. I think Jay would want people to know his chinese music since he seems to be very proud of his chinese background. :-)
