It is a tough decision, as both are equally as talented, beautiful and intelligent...
what is your choice :shifty:

I picked BoA because she has a great voice, she can dance and she can sing in four languages (Korean, Japanese, English and Chinese). Also, I think BoA looks better. ^^

I can't decide. I love them both.
Why is there no opition for 'can't decide/confused'?

...after a few minutes of pondering over it, I eventually voted for Ayumi.
She's on a league of her own. But I love BoA too.

BoA! She's more real. I just love her songs, especially 'Listen To My Heart'. Ayumi is a bit fake to me.

Ayumi!

I know Jason will vote BoA.

Ayumi has a lot of different images and her songs are very catchy. Thats makes me like her album commericals.

I've always felt rather indifferent about BoA, although she is pretty and some of her songs are quite catchy and addictive~ there's nothing more really. I've been an Ayumi support for a really long time and even though Ayumi's changed so much from her older styles she's still really talented and beautiful. I just have a soft spot in my heart for Ayumi~ so I'll always support her :D

i think i would vote for Boa because of her music and just i have listened to her more than ayumi's music..so therefore from my knowing of music Boa was my favorite out of them both.

BoA all the way!!!

I love her songs - from ballad to Hip hop. I honestly think she's one of the most successful asian star EVER. She's can sing and dance (dunno about acting...but I've seen her in this short video and she was pretty good) AND she's young AND she's amazingly pretty AND.....everything good :D

I don't know much about Ayumi, but I've heard some of her songs and they weren't all that good  btw, did she really have plastic surgery before?

At the risk of getting beat over the head by Jason, I voted Ayumi because she has style. BoA can dance and sing well, but I don't see anything that special about her - she's kind of lack luster. Sure, she comes off as nice, but she also comes off as being kind of boring to me.

Ayumi has flare; she knows what she wants, and she's pretty funny in her own way. The fact that she has said point blank that she's manufactured also impresses me. While Ayumi says she is manufactured, you still feel that she has control over who she is and what image she wants to invent for herself.

Whereas with BoA, she comes off being manufactured and nothing but. And her image hardly ever changes, no matter what album she's releasing. I think the only break from that was her most recent Korean album activities - the hip-hop mullet style was really going for her and I felt like it was the first time she really was more than just a safe bet or a typical personality.

I love both, but my vote goes for Ayumi because she is an entertainer in every sense of the word.

hmm queen of j-pop vs the sweet-talented-dancer-singer BoA?

of course i would go 4 BoA!!!

heck i'm the biggest fan of BoA in malaysia and yeah i might sound like a fanboy but yeah i checked out some ayumi songs too
she was really cool
professional wise ayumi is definitely better

but sincerity wise BoA owns
i dunno ayumi's songs are cool and i really loved her bold and delicious but i dunno y ayumi fans hated tat song
it was cool and all..tat shows ayumi n boa fans hav different tastes?

BoA all the way. Although, I've never really heard any of Ayumi's songs though. Plus, you can't really choose or compare cuz most of BoA's songs are Korean songs and Ayumi's are Japanese ones.

^ BoA works extensively in Japan and I believe debuted in Japan before she even released anything in Korea. She was basically trained from the beginning to be in the Japanese music industry more heavily than the Korean one. If you haven't heard any of her Japanese songs, check out Valenti or No. 1 or my personal favorite, Do The Motion.

^ Not exactly, BoA's first public debut was in Korea where she presented her first album - ID; Peace B. Then it was her "Don't start now" korean album. THEN it was her first japanese single - ID; Peace B (jap version of her debut song).

And yes, Boa has been working extensively in Japan; perhaps even more than in Korean = = I think she even had more singles and albums in jap than korean. I remember some korean fans were complaining about her always being in Japan

Haha, my mistake then. It kind of makes me sad when she's in Japan too long too. I like her Korean work better (probably because I prefer her hip hop oriented image more than her pop one). If I were her Korean fans, I'd be complaining too. XD

I'm not a fan of either. I'm not really into pop music (BoA's style) and Ayumi's songs all sound the same to me. But if I had to pick one, I'd pick BoA, simply because she looks more "natural" than Ayumi.

I chose BoA. She just sings so good and is an unreal dancer. Not only that, but her work ethic never fails to impress me. I think Ayumi is talented and some of her songs are really nice (like Carols and Rainy Day), but I just don't like her as much as BoA.

Ayumi.

She's the reigning queen of JPOP. She's so talented and a good role model to the kiddies everywhere. I'm not sure the current Japanese public remembers who BoA is anymore.

I actually prefer Ayumi, her songs are a little more exciting OVERALL then BoA's songs overall. I like BoA's singles though.

Actually I love both of them as much, and i think Ayumi is prettier than BoA.. But i voted BoA in the end as BoA sounds and looks more natural compared to Ayumi, but talent wise, Ayumi is still the best.. Its really a tough choice..

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

BOA IS WINNING!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

thats bull! BoA is dirt compared to Ayumi and i dont think that highly of Ayumi to tell you the truth.... BoA music, i think, is even more mass produced than Ayumi's.... BoA lastest album was a flop for me... i didnt like it at all :( this is an odd poll...

well i prefer BOa.. firstly.. she still young! wahaha.. also.. personally.. i prefer BOa's songs too.. i think ayumi's songs are more of the hard rock.. or should i say hard pop.. i like BOa's love songs.. but i can say.. its a hard choice.. both are popular.. except one comes from japan and the other from korea.. both are unique in their own ways.. it shouldnt b compared this way..

Ayumi. I find her much more appealing. as a musical artist rather than an entertainer. BoA's ok. but Ayumi just has the songstress look rather than the pop star.

Although both are huge stars of pop music I definitely choose BoA. I think Boa is more talented than Ayumi. She can sing and dance. Also, she can speak more languages. I'm just amazed by her.

BoA all the way! Well I'm not her big fan or anything but she's the only female artist I appreciate and really take good notice to. I love her songs, I love the way she dances and the way she looks!! She's gorgeous! And she sings really well too. SM did a great job with promoting her.
Ayumi is beautiful too, and her songs are just as nice in my opinion but I prefer BoA. ^_^

Both BoA and Ayumi have different styles! but if I really have to choose, I think I'll go for Ayumi! Coz I've been supporting her since young even though now it had declined a little. But i think I'll still go with ayu!

i would go for Ayu, boa's good too, but i never really like her music, and performance. Ayu's voice imo is very uniqe, and special that no one else can copy. Also, her performance always look so nice, and in the forefront of the new fashion trend.

hmmmm i seem to like boa more yeah i like her music more and her danicng is really good ... plus she can sing alot of different lanuage and i think she has done extremely well for a person her age

after thinking for a long time, i would go for ayumi. yeah, hands down for ayumi...
for me, ayumi is really special. she's unique and everything. i'm not her fan, but i do respect her a lot. she has this thing that makes me amazed. her voice is really deep. she's able to mantain her popularity for a long time. and from time to time she takes more control on her career. her songs for me, are also really good. and people follow whatever she does, wear, and everything.

but boA, i know she can sing and dance, but somehow i can't see any uniqueness in her. she seems like those other teenagers in korea who want to be famous. but i praise her for achieving such sucess in her age...

BoA shouldn't even be put on the same level as Ayu, maybe this would have been a fair question a few years ago when BoA was more fresh and new, but her impact and influence on the Japanese music scene has consideribly declined as of late with the emergence of other and new artists, which really just illustrates the staying power of Hamasaki Ayumi in the Japanese music industry.

BoA's talented, I'll give her that, and her first few albums, although fairly standard pop stuff, was fun and enjoyable. Since wanting to 'mature' as an artist, I think BoA's music has taken a nose-dive, her latest album was unexciting and her singles have been dramatic hit or misses. There's nothing special or unique about BoA other than the fact she's "multilingual" and a good dancer,

While Ayu's obviously not as popular as before, her releases still manage to hit the top spot and she continues to be a force to be reckoned with. She's a Japanese icon, and it goes beyond just music, it's style, fashion, and personality.

I liked BoA a lot a few years ago when she first debuted but she's been getting progressively less and less interesting. BoA's career as of late has made it evident that she lacks the staying power that Ayu possesses, comparing her to Ayu is an ill-suited comparision, there's no competition in my opinion. It's artists like Otsuka Ai and Koda Kumi who are now challenging Ayu's "throne" so to speak.
