I decided to stop it there since my computer starts to lag with so many expansion packs... Even though my comp is 900MHZ and I have 512mb of RAM, it lags too much in the Downtown and Vacation areas.

But man I love that game...it's so addictive. My favorite thing about it is downloading new furniture and clothes for them. I like building and decorating the houses with nice furniture most. I think Hot Date was my favorite since it added the Downtown dimension. After that, the expansion packs went downhill...Vacation is a total waste of money. But I like unleashed too since you get pets and some new jobs.

i love the SIMS.
my friend got me addicted to it.
after she took her copy away from me i had to go out and buy my own.
i've only got the deluxe edition, but i'm gonna go get the expansion pack which includes hot date, vacation and unleashed. at least i think that's what it includes.
my favourite thing about the Sims is that you have the ability to kill them. i love sticking them in the pool and watching them swim around hopelessy looking for a ladder to climb out :laughing:

I just killed them a few times to see what would happen.
Other than that, I just enjoy having them make alot of money and get nice things.
I use to cheat alot and just start off with a whole lotta money so I can get everything for them right off.
But now I've been playing fair, no cheats at all! :angel:

I've only played the Hot Date expansion pack... and the Hot Tub is hilarious. Esp the things they do in it.

woah~ Karen. playing fair is real tough. I tried doing that and they were almost dying of starvation by the end of one month. I use the cheat codes a lot and splurge all the money on big houses and extravagant furnitures.

My friend says moving the baby before it's transformed to a kid will cause the kid to become kinds deformed/ugly. Is that true?

I have till Vacation. The expansion packs are coming out faster now and I can't afford yet. My friend got superstar and she said it's very fun though to gain points is very hard. My favourite has to be hot date as well but ever since then it's harder to built relationships. My guy always gets slapped.. hahah! Just saying hi also will get a slap or a minus in relationships. :oops:

sims are soo addictive. i downloaded mine cause for some weird reason my computers refuse to work with the sims cds, so i have to download it. but its really addictive. when i first played it it seemed like i couldnt get anywhere without cheating, but now..urg. im trying so hard not to cheat. lol. but my house looks so ugly. before i had a pool! ah well, thats the way life goes i suppose. im surprised something so simple of a game can make it so big.

i luv the sims!!! hvn't played for a long time since it screwed up my computer. but omg, there are sooooo many expansion packs!!! and they aren't that cheap either, so i cant afford all of em. i onli ended up buying the first one you need, and the vacation one, all the rest i borrowed from my frend cos she's got em all.

i usually use the money cheat otherwise it takes ages to get money so that you can actually buy good stuff.

I have all except superstar and unleashed. how's superstar? hahaha....you guys love killin' them don't you? i don't realli like the adults to have kids, they get in the way, and we have to rush them to get onto the schoolbus while maintaining everything else, so I tried to kill the kid the other time by the pool method. I finally got the Unleashed, Hot Date and Vacation expansion packs but I haven't played with them yet. Hopefully the expansion packs will help me get through my boring school holiday.

Has anyone heard about the new Sims that's coming out in 2004? The Sims2 is still in development but they're hoping to release it in next year. The game doesn't differ much from the original except you have to control your Sim from infancy through childhood, teenage life and adulthood. You can also make your same sex Sims get married. It's a totally new game, so it's not something you can add on to your original Sims game.

Yeah, the Sims 2 is completely different code... I was never really a fan of the original, but 2 looks pretty good!

My only real experience with The Sims was in 8th grade... I was at a friend's house, and we had a blast making a gay couple out of my geometry teacher (a sexist freak) and the class goody-goody :P

i got all of them. hee. yeah, im a sims addict too! for me, the really good ones (among all the expansion packs) that is worth buying are Livin' Large, Hotdate, Superstar and Makin' Magic. House Party, Vacation and Unleashed they do add some fun stuff in your game but i dont think they're all that amazing and different. You could do without them or download some of the new stuff from these from the sims official website.

Makin' Magic is so much fun. It's a little like harry potter. remember how they had diagon alley in harry potter? well, they have something like that here and u can also turn people into frogs. haha. but the game is so much harder now because u have to mind a lot of things. and for magic town u have a different currency too. some of the stuff that u need for potions, u have to work for them, not just merely buy them. im sure i havent explored everything yet. maybe ill do a little more research on the possibilities of the game so i know what im gonna look for. :wink2:

I LOVE THE SIMS!!!! i remember going to my friend's house and playing it and going, 'Wow! this games is so cool!' i then got my dad to take me out to get it (i got collector's edition 2, so i got deluxe, hot date and vacation) and managed to wrangle Unleashed and Superstar off some friends. i THEN bought making magic when it came out and it's by far the BEST!!!!!!! i can't WAIT until sims 2 comes out!!! Yeah The Sims is fun, but I hate unleashed, it gets so annoying with all the pets coming into your yard and there's no way to build a fence that closes. At least I don't think there is, I haven't got all the Sims yet but House Party and Hot Date have to be the best in my opinion.

it does need quite a bit of RAM to run it... around 256.... cos the graphics will be more 3D .................

looks like I may need to upgrade my comp then.

Jindy there's a patch that you can download from www.thesims.com that will add an item in your game that will fend off unwanted pets, except for the skunk, from coming into your house and property.

You have to register and create an account first, though. that shouldnt be a problem if you've bought an original sims cd cuz they'll be needing the serial number for you to create an account. if you cant, just send me a PM and i might be able to help you with that.

By the way, has anybody experienced problems with your game... example, your House Party game hanging, etc. there are some patches in the site that u can download to fix the bugs. there's also a patch to add additional skins and items that are originally made by EA.

the sims2 looks really good. i hope my computer can still handle it.

yep... thou very slow even if i used getright/flashget ... so i haven't d/l them yet... anyway i have most of the expansion packs.. except the last few... which my mom wouldn't buy 'cos she said i had to study for the HSC (equivalent to A-levels etc) since i was too addicted.... playing a couple of hours each day after skool

apparently, Sims 2 is a separate game from The Sims.... so you can't use the families and houses you've created into Sims 2 ... but of course, there will be expansion packs for Sims 2

some additional info....:-

1. you can have affairs with other Sims... n even get them pregnant..... n can have divorces with your husband/wife

2. your house can have 3 floors instead of the regular 2 in the sims ... but still 8 "Sims" in each house only

3. yeah, the newbies and goths will be in Sims 2 as well

4. your "sims" will die once they reach a certain age....as "sims" can now progress through stages in their life...infancy through childhood, teenage life and adulthood... n then grandparents if you decide to have kids

crusty-applepie, there's a cheat if u wanna delete the mailbox!!!! :) i think it's 'move_objects on' and u have to get the little box on the tp left corner of ur screen first. (shift-control-c, i think) sorry i'm a little rusty, but i haven't played it in a quite a while. :sweat: btw, isnt unlimited personality points where all thier personality points r full? well, i got my sims on full personality points....the natural way. :)

the personality points is those pint that you need to allocate when you create your sims..
like neat and outgoing..
i maxed out my point..
just use the map edit cheat and gain alot of land..
now my housed is very big :D

Lol...I always start my sims with no personality points and then I buy the expermient table thing and make my sim brew potions and drink them. When they drink one that reverses their personality, then my sims have full personality points :) It takes awhile but it usually works.

didnt think of that too. i always use that move objects cheat too but i only use that to make my sim's energy full, when u dont want ur character to sleep. hehe. ddnt think i could erase the mailbox too. ok, ill go try that.

the baby grows up to be a child. how long depends on how attentive u are, though. i usually make the parents and the baby stay in the kitchen so they dont have to walk all over the house while they have the baby. then i just move everything in the right place when the baby grows up to be a child.

barterer is the guy which wear those black suit and take care of my house...not the maid.
i got a better way to make the sims energy full.
i just download a special coffee maker and buy that for my sims..
if they are tired i just let them have a cup of coffee and their energy is full again

And I hate babies and children, you can't do much with them.

Hmm...is it possible for a sim to just simultaneously combust? Because I remember my sim just suddenly died once and I didn't even know why, I think it was because he was depressed and he died whilst having a shower. So everytime someone else in the house went to have a shower they would have to mourn first. It was so annoying.

squall hey, nice house. barterer? u must mean the butler. the butler's name is alfred same name as batman's butler :D i think that comes with the superstars expansion. im not sure tho. maybe u could have hte parents take care of the baby instead. 3 or 4 days should do it if u really really pay attention to the baby.

Cindy did u try selling the shower and replacing it with another one? do u think htey'd still mourn? did u put a wall light inside ur shower? cuz im thinking maybe your sim got electrecuted or soemthng from hte light. cuz that happened to my sister's character once. her sim got electrecuted when it got near a light.

what's also annoying is when ur sim gets abducted by an alien. the other people in the family wouldnt stop crying and when ur sim comes back, it becomes disoriented and loses some of its skills.

has anyone ever tried having their baby taken away by social services? :? i ddnt think it would happen. my mom laughed so hard when we told her about it. :D

have u ever tried to make a haunted house? if u have one and u put a bonfire in ur lot, whenever u gather around the bonfire and tell stories, a ghost appears and frightens the living sims. it also haunts the house at night, sometimes the haunted character would wake up from fright. :D

hoyt it's interesting when u discover new things about it, though. or when u install new expansions. i get so excited when i learn new things that i can try out. :happy:

i tried once before after i sells my house..thinking that i can move back if i don't like the haunted house..
then i buy the haunted house and realised that it is really small :glug: maybe less than 1/3 of my original house..
i can't believe it so i just got another haunted house..
the house is also small too..

Lol...I was still a newbie back when my sim died in the shower and actually never thought of buying a new shower. And I didn't have any electrical stuff near the shower. But I did read somewhere that they can simultaneously combust, I was just wondering if that's what happened to mine.

Did you know that if one of sims die that you can actually sell their ashes and get money for it?

I'm still trying to figure out how to make Santa come and visit my house. I put out the cookies and I have a tree and I made my sim wait past midnight but he didn't turn up =[

hey. so exciting to see you guys discussing about the SIMS. used to play madly with it a few years back but my brother always uninstall the game after i have like spent hours working hard on the house, characters and such. it really gets on my nerves have to re-install and recreate my house. that's what you get when sharing a computer with brothers -_-''' i used the money cheat, the move_objects cheat etc. one of my fav for two characters to develop a relationship fast is to make them go into the same room then you pause the game and go to BUILD mode and just delete the door. haha. then you get the two character to talk to each other. it would not take long for the points to add up. repeat these for a day or two and you get the sims together. :bleh:

haha. but remember to let the visiting sim go home when he or she is tired. or make them drink unlimited cups of expressos.

have not been able to get my hands on the expansion sets yet. pretty expensive i think and there's too many too. heard about the SIMS 2 but this will have to wait until i get a better computer that can support the game and maybe strike lottery so i can get all the packs? :D

u can sell not only the ashes but the paintings too. alot of things u can sell to make some small bucks.

cindy i think santa comes if u have a fireplace, a tree and the cookies. i think u have to have all 3. not sure but when i had santa visit my house, i had all three.

squall actually u can make a haunted house of ur own. ok...this is so cruel but..u can build a house, furnish it with everything u need then kill the sim that lives there. u get a tombstone or ashes, right? just put htem anywhere on ur lot. im thinking under that dead tree that comes with the makin' magic expansion would be perfect :wink2: . anyway, when the sim that lives in that house dies, another sim can buy it with all the stuff in it. then u kill that sim again, that's another ghost added to ur hautned house..and so on. i know it's so cruel...hehe..sorry. :D

SQually, the butler comes with Superstar or Making Magic, i think. my friend found a way to make ur sims happy! u do the control-shift-c thingy and move_objects and then u delete the sim! then u click on their face at the bottom of the screen and they come back with full energy points etc! :laughing: beware, sometimes it takes some of ur body, etc points....so save it b4 u delete them!

vicluva i've tried that too. that's what i was telling u guys about, i delete them to have full energy for my sim. but i also save the game first before doing that so they wont lose any newly acquired skill. and what's nice about it is that all the other emotions get filled up too. :happy:

what i do is...i do the rosebud thing that squall has said. next i press shift+ctrl+c again then type !;!; repeatedly as much as u want...then add one wrong character - type 1 or somehting. then prss enter. u will get a message that says 'no such cheat' but keep pressing enter and u will see that the money will keep increasing. the longer u make the !;!; sequence, the more money it will add each time u press enter.

if u keep pressing enter and u see that the money is not increasing at all, u might want to try changing hte first character of ur sequence (; instead of !). so it'd be - ;!;!. i dont know if i explained well enough.. but it's certainly a quick way to increase the money cause u dont have to type over and over again.

babies, which you get from kissin' or huggin' your partner a lot, are even worse..... i had one but even if i spent all my time feed/sing/play with it.... it still cries and when i had to go to work so i got my partner to watch it ....... in the end, even with all the time i had spent on the baby .. it still got taken away from the social services :cry:

so i think there is no way u can actually keep the baby :-x


but in Sims 2 everything is different..... children and babies will grow up.... which is good.

mikegc888....actually, there's a patch that you can download from the sims official website to fix that problem. so they wont get stuck anymore. and i understand it also addresses some other problems in the game. you should go check it out. the other expansion packs are also really nice - superstar and makin' magic, especially.

Hello all, I'm still new here so hope I can get knowing everybody :)

For the sims, I am a sims fans since the first release in fact that's the first game I ever played until I become obbsessed by game later. I always play sims with cheat, oh well not always. I have some family that have pure rich from job everyday and I quite enjoy the game without cheat. For The Sims 2, I planned to try the manual way (without cheat) and maybe if I can get a grip of it, I will be back to the cheat ways hehehe.

Yea, Sims two is so much better than the first one! There's grandparents and babies, and the new houses are GORGEOUS!!! And the camera is really cool, much better than the first one! And same goes for actions and everything....lol, to sum it up, THE TRAILER FOR IT LOOKS AWESOME!! ^^

did you now? huh. Hahah, yeah, some of it were a waste of time. Like the magic expansion pack, I didn't even play magic at all throughout the game. I did get a pet, so I thought that was pretty good and hot date did make a lot of changes, like the captions and how they interacted with each other. So the changes aren't as big and mind blowing as you'd like but hey, they made the game a bit more interesting with more jobs, options and people.

Really they started off at CAN$75, I thought they started at CAN$59.99 or something at Future Shop. I bought mines a little later on for only like CAN$25 at Best Buy.

I know! Everything sounds so great in The Sims 2. Do they really age that fast? How many floors can you make highest/lowest? I heard you can make them underground (basement). That will be so cool for a military. I saw this stuff when I was visiting the Lot Exchange for Sims 2. Those houses are like mansions. I really want to get Sims 2 but I need to get the money. Or I'll probably wait a while like the Sims Deluxe Edition. Right now, Sims 2 is about CAN$59.99. Gotta wait until the price drops. Or somebody can give it to me as a Christmas present. :shifty:

Hey, I just got the Sim 2 also..... my goodness, the CD box had 4 CDs to load, and I think the game itself is kind of big. I just installed the game last weekend, and right now, I am still in the process of creating people, because the Sim 2 let you have so much freedom in the creation of the person, including hair colour, hair length and style, eye colour and shape, fat or thin, and the type of clothes to wear for what occasion. It had been so fun trying to get some interesting combination of people....

I had not been playing the Sims for a while, but based on my last experience, it would be better to create lots of friends and neighbours for the neighbourhood, so that the little Sims can have more people to interact with.

I am so excited with this game, I am going to have another try at the game tomorrow night. :bounce:

actually any lousy graphic card should be able to support this game..
it is more memory base,that means if you got more rams,you will be able to play smoothly..
If you got 1Gb rams,you can run smoothly

i recommand ATI radeon 9600 to you..because it is way way better than GeForce Fx 5600 :wink2:

Sims 2 is great except since it's so big, it's kinda slow on my computer but it's lots of fun and you get so much choice when it comes to designing your Sims. I never EVER change the shape of their noses and stuff because i'm really bad at it and i end up making them look horrible :) but it's quite fun to make a really really ugly sim :)

i'm very thrilled after reading the sims2 official site. you could acvtually zoom in to see their faces. one thing funny about the sims is the language they spoke, you can never make out what they are talking about. dunno sims 2 also like that or nto...

it comes with 4 pc of disc. so it's rather huge. but there are lotsa stuff to do, like you can even seduce the maid.haha. and the kissing scenes would be zoomable too.. the kids actually bear a similiarity to their parents, in terms of look and personality. and they actually will grow old...

anyway, anyone knows if there is anywhere in sg where you could get original games and softwares for a cheap price? actually $54.90 for 4 disc is considered quite ok already. but still i am very broke..

squall: is the download at suprnova full version? sometimes ppl upload those versions without sound or they cut out some of the images so as to make the file smaller (i think). if it's the full version, the first thing when i get home after my stupid school is hop on to suprnova already. love the game so much.....

Yep ghosts will appear, if the gravestone is near your house.. Hehe your sims would be freaked out. I think they usually come out at night.. to avoid the ghosts, just sleep on the second storey.. you'll be fine then I guess. :happy:
