A-hoy all UK-ers!

We have made part two of this thread as the previous thread has almost reached the 500 post mark. Here are just some of the post that was in the first part of 'Hello?? Is there no one from the UK here?!? ' thread.

dana: our school is really good with open days and things. they tell us when each open day is and what is happening there. to be honest i don't really like queen mary (QMU) and hahaha i used to live near that area and let's just say it's a bit.... dodgy ;p

wowowowow imperial!! go girl!!! imperial is such an amazing uni!! my friends goin there this year to do something down the mechanics route ^^ king's isn't bad but going to uni in london cost SO much money :( i could live for 3 months at warwick with the money i spend on accomadation alone if i went to a london uni :S

princess kitty hey thanks so much!!! are you in uni yet??

originally posted by princessKitty
shez: Nope, not in university. Don't think I'll ever go, I don't like studying and the thought of studying an honours degree for three years, living on small pennies is daunting.

By the way, did anyone go to the marathon? I watched a bit on television and heard about Jade Goody. She didn't recieve any training, well, ony for a bit, and she just went for the 26 miles. She had to have medical attention about halfway through. Still, she made half-way, I probably couldn't even make a quarter way let alone half.

We have got the marathon to~ Not sure when it is.
Good luck everyone who is taking their exams right now. Its stressful but in the end its worth it....

originally posted by shez
princesss kitty yea i know what you mean, uni is good for some and just hell for others....

i used to live around to 19/20 mile mark but moved house and now live NOWHERE near any marathon places.... grrr

Jade Goody annoys me, but she's been the most outstanding contestant... in the sense I still remember her. =PP

Shez: It's good that your school does tell you which open days are around etc, but also take your own initiative! I only started looking around during the summer of AS and it was either, the open days had already passed, or they were occurring right then, but were fully booked. But with the school, I went to Bristol and Nottingham, which were two amazingly different but awesomely pretty unis. Call me superficial or what, but I can be. =) Oh and indeed, QMU area is dodgy alright. I'm not convinced when friends tell me it's a good uni, but for me, the area has to be taken into account also, area + uni = decision. Which other unis are you interested in?

Before I turn this into a uni thread. XD

Marathon. I remember prepping myself up for the Race for Life in Hyde Park for women only, and not going through with it because I didn't want to do it all lonesome. So if any of you guys would love to run 5 miles for pure satisfaction, in mid September I think, then hollah at me. I need to do this in my life. I just have to.

originally posted by Wai Ling
Hi, sorry for butting in here, but I just wanted to join in this thread because I've never known anyone in the UK that listens to any overseas music, let alone Jay!

originally posted by princessKitty
Dana: 5 miles is very long! I don't think I can last for that long. you'll probably end up having to carry me all the way to the finish line.

Wai Ling:
Yes, I listen to music from Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan since I was about 13.
I remember my first album was Joey Yung- Like Joey. That was the first chinese modern album I listened to. I liked it very much and started to listen to other chinese artists like Kelly Chen, Miriam Yuerng and Eason Chen. Now, I listen to a wide range, depending on my mood. My favourite genre is rock.

In my local libary, they have chinese albums and before, I use to take them out and listen to them. The libary was quite good actually, they had quite new ones.

5 miles isn't thaaaaaaat long is it?
I'll have to try it and see. ><

Wai Ling: By that do you mean you're in the UK and you don't know anyone else who listens to foreign music, or do you mean you do not know anyone in the UK and certainly did not expect people here to listen to foreign music?

The nation is either swept up by revision, exams or Big Brother and Strictly Dance Fever (<- I like. ^^).

SARAH, WANNA START PART 2?!

Dana: 5 miles is very long, Southend pier is 1.33 miles and that to me is very long, if that is long then 5 miles must be very very long.
I've been watching a bit of soccer aid and it's quite funny seing celebrities taking on the role as a footballer. All for good cause though.

Why does it always have to rain on bank holiday?

hey!!! i went to the other thread and it was closed :( hehe then found this one!!

Wai Ling welcome to the thread!! so no1 from the uk?? hehe well here we are!! we're not aliens or anything so feel free to discuss anything with us!!!

dana yea warwick has a GREAT campus when i went to visit it but it was weird that none of my friends liked it.... hmmmm *ponders* i haven't visted UCL or kings yet and have NO idea when the open days are....

everyone: hmmm i was browsing around and lotsa people are having meet-ups and i was wondering if we should have one too..... because it's nearly the summer holidays and it would be great to meet you all face to face :D lemmie know what you think or if u have any ideas....

Sarah: I just realised... why did they call it Soccer. It's kiiiinda alright for people to call it Soccer when Americans and Aussies are around, but this was organised in UK. GRR. But that match was more entertaining than the FA Cup final, no pressure and everybody genuinely were in to the game. ^^ So many past players <3 but boo Maradona.

Shez: UCL and King's are pretty. King's more so. ^^ But a meet up? I don't think I'll be able to make it on this side of the holiday because of exams till the 26th, then a few days preparing everything for my holiday. After results day sound more like it?

Dana: I'll tell you who is my favourite player > Ally McCoist. He is soooooooo good! After many years of retirement and a beer belly, he is still able to run on that pitch and score goals! wow. Is either he is a very good footballer or the goalkeeper is very rubbish. *coughspatrickkieltycoughs*.

shez
05-30-2006, 09:03 PM
dana hehe only a little suggestion ^^. seems everyone's so busy this summer..... :|

i don't actually know where king's is :| there's a campus somewhere so i really need to go and find it or else won't have time *sniff sniff* hehe good luck in ur exams!!! i'm smack bang in he middle of mine at the moment!!!!

Hungry for Hungary. MWAHA. Yes. I'm talking about football. Boy am I now proud of our boys. I don't know about you, but I never took a liking to Rooney. So GO THE THREE LIONS!

Sarah: Aww Kielty is so ke ai. At least he didn't let more goals in, was that McCoist's goal? I was too busy booing Maradona everytime he appeared. But Schmeical! <33

Shez: I only visited the Waterloo campus, but the other two campuses are the main ones I believe. Strand? But GOOD LUCK for all exams! Exams suck. =X

princessKitty
05-31-2006, 05:31 PM
Dana, you will have no problem with your exams because I know that you are a bright girl and that you can pass it in no time. :hugz:
Rooney *coughsshreckcoughs*, well all I can say is, I just hope his foot is ok so he can play for England during the games. The thing I don't get it, whenever there are substitutes, they always get the best players off!? Owen? Gerrard? Hello Sven?!

But the substitute with Crouch was good, he scored the third goal!
ole, ole, ole, ole.

shez, I admire you, you have exams and still have the time to come on!! huggy. :hugz: (sorry, I just love hugs.) Are you doing A-Level exams or GCSEs? I heard that A-Level exams are like the hardest out of anything.

Sarah: It's giving our good players a rest when we know that the other team can't conjure up any more magic to win against us.

Hi Galzs_revolution!
Get cosy with us if you're residing here for the next... 3 years of your life?
If you have any questions about how it's like... feel free to ask! Where are you coming from?

1st June. Does that mean 5 months just passed REALLY quickly or is it just me? o_o

princessKitty
06-01-2006, 11:42 PM
Galzs_revolution: hiya. If you are going university in that area, then there maybe some residential placement available for you locally, you'll just have to do your research! Or you can stay at the halls of residence at university whereby you pay rent each week, downside is, you'll be sharing with other people but in some people's opnions, univeristy life is a life-changing experience so, up to you.

Dana: 1st of June and I still see people with coats and scarfes. >.< Oh by the way, I went to Carnaby Street today...........where Jay was! I was like on Regent Street and saw Carnaby Street sign and said to my friend, hey, was where Jay was, so we walked and I stood on the spot of where he was.
Ok, leaving fan mode.

princessKitty: hey!!! hehehe exams were SOOO hard!!! i was doing me ASs and have started the A2 course already >____<" it's SOO hard!!! i'm dropping chemistry but i think it's needed for a lot of biology based subjects so i'm a little screwed..... :(

wasn't it SOOOOO hot yesterday?!?!? the hottest 12th June in a century!!!!

ftlouiea
06-13-2006, 06:37 PM
Galzs revolution: Be proud of your country. And bring your culture here to those that will be your friends in Uni.

Shez: Are you making the Biology VS Chemistry choice? I'd choose the latter, biology is damn frickin' hard.

Oh joyous, the weather was so swelteringly (XD) hot. ._. Couldn't breathe, couldn't concentrate. I swear it's a curse for revision. But then today, mild and marvelous.

shez
06-13-2006, 08:51 PM
dana: hehehe yes today was so lovely ^___^ i'd rather take exams in janurary as it gives me an excuse to stay at home and revise.... since it's sunny all i want to do is go out and soak in the sun!!! hahaahaha!!! and the hayfever is just ridiculous!!! OMG SERIOUSLY?!?!? i've already filled in my form to drop chemistry..... i hate the subject SOOO much!!! i think i've got at the most a C in it bcuz the exam was so hard..... (damn edexcel nuffield exam board..... >__<") i find biology SOOO much easier!!! it's my strongest subject at the mo!!!!

i really wana go up north and see what it's like ^____^ i need to go visit durham and manchester :P

princessKitty
06-13-2006, 09:25 PM
The weather is nice and hot. Weather will get much warmer soon. The only thing I don't like about hot weather is at night, I can't sleep. >.<

shez: Exams were hard eh? Well just be glad that they are now over. What are you going to do to celebrate? I am no science expert so I don't know much about chemistry or biology or physics.

I'd love to go up north and visit, I only been as far as Leicester. Places I would so love to go is Blackpool, Englands very own Paris.

I don't suffer from hayfever so I don't know what it feels like. I tan very easily, my skin is like tanned dark, someone thought I was Thai! But anyhow, drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun if possible people!!

shez
06-14-2006, 08:34 PM
there were freak thunderstorms here last night and i got scared <(.____.)>

princess kitty: i've been to blackpool!!! it's GREAT!!! hahahaha the amusement parks are AMAZING!!!! i've always wanted to go to scotland but hmmmm lol sounds a bit cold and stuff......

hayfever sucks.... it's like having a cold all year round.... yay.... but i don't burn easily or tan easily.... my skin's a really dodgy yellow colour already so i dnt really want it to mutate into another colour because of UV lights.... ><

shez: Tuesday was craaazy. It was like so hot during the weekend and then just a couple of days later, the sky decides to open. It was so funny because my Uncle decided to have a bbq on that day, everyone was soaked! But it was great fun though, the rain didn't stop us. Most places were flooded.

I love southend. ^^ The beach is lovely, the rides are fun and the shopping is great. when the tide was out, my dad my brother and I walked out, the sand was so soggy it felt like wet mud when walking on it.

christinetang:  What part of the UK are you from? I'm sure you will past the first year. You study for 3 years right? And when will you find out your results? Sorry, hope I am not asking you too many questions.

The thing I like about southend is how easy it is to get there. I can just get the train and it will only take about 1 hour and half or something. Have anyone tried bbq on the beach before?

Yamoo. o_o I just realised I'll be at Heathrow in one week, probably sitting on the plane already at this time. And procrastinating revision has resulted in successfully making a few playlists on my MP3 for the summer. I'm so proud X) List goes like this:

Diet music
For acoustics, and basically music that isn't too heavyweight and probably what I want to go to sleep to. I can't seem to go to bed without music on which is a tad unhealthy but...
Guilt-free Happiness
Happy music; everything that the next category isnt
Guilty Pleasures
Happy music, that is pop to the core. Cheesy you might say. =D EG Hearsay's Pure and Simple, my Year 9 obsession ^^ If you do happen to remember them, they are so nostalgic! <3
Hopeless Sentimentalist
Love songs that make your heart break listening to them, either because of the music or they were played in a heartbreaker scene.
Inspiring and Sweeping
Inspiring songs literally, that sweep me off my feet. The strings in F.I.R's Thousand Year Love? Gorgeous strings!)
Love songs without the weight
Happy light happy songs that don't make your heart wrench. Happy lovin' - I like to think of these songs for.
Pumpin' it
T_T
Sad sad sad songs ._.

Meheh backtrack. Hayfever is like a cold alright. Today my nose was running like... like yeah. =X Times like this make you wanna cut your friggin' nose off.

TANNING! I do tan... except now I want pale skin. T_T

XTINE! I DO REMEMBER! AND MISS YOU! ._. You've been absent for long, but at least you've completed the first year. What's the plan for now until October? :D

Did anyone hear about the terror plot on UK airports? Loads of flights have been cancelled as a result of this. Main flights affected are those travelling from UK to US. Flights coming from Spainish airlines and Germanys flights going to the UK has been cancelled. Many are stranded in airports such as Heathrow and Gatwick.

At a time where children are on school holidays and people going on summer holidays, not a good time. Anyway, they said that it was a plan to 'commit mass murder' where 10 flights were targeted. Arrests has been made in London and Birmingham.

I guess many of these kind of events will happen on transport, whether it be bus, tube or plane where generally there is a lot of people.

I'm bombarded with people who love him more than me in uni here, it's fun.

If anyone's interested, the LKFF (London Korean Film Festival) is gonna be held in June apparently. I've heard about it since it's 2005 stint, and went to last year's, which was oddly placed during september. It's a cool event btw, they showed Windstruck during 2005 (among others) and then had films like Marathon and Typhoon last year. The catch is, though it's free, you have to line up before the film starts outside the cinema. This, in actual fact means, FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Like me and jecka found out when we turned up to see a near 300 person queue at Typhoon's showing.

was an ok film :) worth seeing but not the best - i was there for the Q&A mostly
luckily i wasnt working last year when the fitrst festival was on and was able to get to the doors to be at front of the queue.

there's usually a music event too - so will be going to that again i expect :)

Sup guys and gals, I'm from the UK, currently doing my final year at Durham uni, anyone else here from Durham?

I think the music thats will remind of of last summer that's just gone in Durham will be Jay's music, there would be times when I had the urge to just put on an hour of Jay's stuff and listen it through. Good times.

Coincedence,my first Jay song was Fearless too.My brother's girlfriend sent me that song I was blown away by the music and then I started downloading and stuff.Go tmy first Jay CD for my birthday last year :3
I'm ATM trying to find the e-mail address of JVR to e-mail them in trying to get Jay to play a concert here.I REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY wanna see him..If he don't come here I'll sure be able to see him in Malaysia when I go back home :-)
BUT I'm desperate right now to see him....My love for him have grown so much stronger throughout the year that I've known him.

hehe - all this talk of age makes me  hehe as i am older than Jay!

i got into him about Yi Hui Mei time one of my friends told me to get some of his music so i got that album and the broken string EP

it wasn't until i heard fantasy that i got really into him BUT i did actually like his music well before that because my Favourite Leehom track was actually the one written by Jay :D and my favourite Jordan Chan's too

i collect the music jay writes for others - though i am stuck for getting some of the really really early CDs.

YeQu - i think Jay did do a concert here once but it was one of those small exclusive types that were not advertised. I so hope he comes here cos i won't get to Asia anytime soon

^ @Kay and YeQu

Jay was meant to do this gig on June 13th, 2006... but it never went through, which I can understand, considering it would have been one performance only and the costs for that... i dont know.

Btw guys, just call me Dana!

YeQu
01-19-2008, 02:21 PM

Dana: Yeah I heard about that concert...Too bad it didn't happen...Do you think if there were a lot of sponsers that he would come? What if I gathered the money myself?LOL!

hk-kc-jc
11-02-2008, 03:18 PM
Can't believe his concert in the UK didn't go ahead!! But then again.. not many people here know him which is a shame cos there are quite a lot of asian/chinese people here!! I'm actually surprised by the fact that Jay has concerts in LA and places in America which is also an english-speaking country but not in England?!

hmm.. anyway.. hey I'm from London.. real name is Kayan.. (car-yan is how it's pronounced and if i tell you that it is translated from my chinese name, you would probably know what my chinese name is.. haha.. it's quite a common name, i think, in China and quite a lot of chinese celebrities have this name too like Linda Chung - do you know it now? haha)

YeQu
12-03-2008, 04:37 AM
Your name is really nice...Never heard it in my life haha and no I don't know your Chinese name!Cause I'm not Chinese!!Do tell me though :bleh:

hk-kc-jc
12-03-2008, 07:07 PM
o lol.. well if you were chinese.. i think my english name would be pretty obvious of what my chinese name was.. lol.. do u know how to read chinese, because if you do i will post up my chinese name lol..

do you really think kayan is a cool name? haha.. yh loads of people at school are like wow what a cool name, etc.. but then i think bummer.. teachers can't pronounce my name properly cos of the way it's spelt.. and a friend of mine even named her little sister after me!! (well.. her middle name was kayan).. but it's still cool that someone wants to copy my name.. hehe

YeQu
12-04-2008, 02:43 AM
Sorry dear I can't even read Chinese  I suck haha.I'm half Malay and half British haha...
Hahaha, yeah I know what you mean about teachers not being able to pronounce your name,I had that from Primary all the way till college  I wanna give my child your name haha its really kool seriously :bleh:

hk-kc-jc

half malay and half british? wow! i think i'm full chinese lol but i was born and have lived in england all my life! and thanks to going chinese school on saturdays, i've learnt how to read and write chinese! but thank god ive finished cos it was not gd missing out on days where you could have a break from going school.. lol

hk-kc-jc
12-10-2008, 05:40 PM
YeQu .. yh lol.. shopping is definitely the best sport im good at.. hehe

British Jay Fan.. hi and welcome to this thread! hehe.. im from england too!! to answer your question, there is a lot more people who live in asia than people who live in europe here.. but still.. there are nearly 300000 members here so i would think there'd be about 40% from europe and america and the other 60% to asia? haha..i don't know.. just guessing..

and yes unfortunately, jay is not as well known over here but hey.. me and u know him! yh.. how did u know him since he hasn't had any concerts or been promoted over here in europe?

hk-kc-jc
12-11-2008, 08:22 PM
umm.. long story..

i went to hong kong in summer 2002 and that was when Miss Hong Kong Beauty Pageant was on and i remember him being a guest on there and he was playing the piano and singing 'Return to the Past' and i just fell in love with him since then.. but then i forgot about him when i came back to england lol.. then.. when i went back to hong kong in 2006 i remebered about him cos he was on a massive billboard advertising a phone or something and that's when i remembered him again then i went crazy when i got back to england cos i started to download every single album of his and chase up on all his details and news.. and joined this forum.. as you can see i joined in october 2006.. and researching too much on this guy explains why i have such bad eyesight now!!

YeQu
12-12-2008, 03:30 AM
