Anyways, i find that kungfu guy, really funny... its like when the judges told him that he aint singing, the kungfu dude told them he is actually rapping, and goes about explaining what rap is about to the judges. I mean... oh come on, do you think the judges are noobs? lol

Its when the judge asked him out, did he finally try to sing a slow song, but still failed it. weird people lol..

Btw to those that played Dota, dont you think the first contestant shown on tv, the one that they mention having lip gloss all over his face, dont you think he reminds u of pudge the butcher? one of the hero characters in dota.. lol

when i watch the singapore idol. i found the first contestant was so funny,he puts on lips gloss....... when he rubs the lip gloss from his mouth, it smears to his face and he's a real joke for the day to the judges.......

i did not catch the last Singapore Idol until the final competition between Taufik and Sly..

so i watched this round audition on Sunday...haha..

the most 'impressive' is that guy playing hola-hoop..Dick Lee actually asked him to GET OUT..Hahaha.. ><'

i like that part when they showed the most popular song..many different competitors were singing the same song and they showed them singing one phrase each..and in the end, they sing together..i was like..wow! it was well-arranged..hee hee..

and when they get to next rounds, those outside waiting friends scream so loudly that someone commented that they should book a bus here next time..so many supporters!!

would try to catch this show for the coming weeks..if not, i shall come back to this thread for updated news..hahaha

I think her voice is not bad but on that night she choose the wrong song to sing! She shouldn't have choose Alicia Key's song because most of her song is high keys and she can't really cope up with the keys of the song so well.

OMG. I can't believe that Mathilda's out ! :shock: She was one of the powerhouses of the competition and she's...out! When she was in the same "dangerous" group as Jon and Hady, I was like "Noooooooooooooooo!!!" because I didn't want ANY of these 3 to be out. Honestly, in my opinion, they are the best 3 singers of the competition and I cannot understand how they are always at dangerous group.

Then again, alot of the Joakim/Paul fans are teenagers who will be making like 25,678 calls to support them while the Hady/Jon fans are probably people who can appreciate good singers (ie. older teengers, adults, etc) who may support them quietly on tv but will not actually call in to vote.

That's so sad. I swear, the moment Jon is out, that's the end of me watching SI.

That's Jon or Jonathan Leong. He is one of the better singers of the competition but don't ask me - I'm biased :bleh: He has this really low singing voice that's really nice.

I don't really think he looks like Jay though - except the small eyes bit :angel:

I'm looking forward to a Jon vs Hady final. Fingers crossed now.

Just finished an episode of it ... haven't watched it since ages ... and I must say, I'm pretty disappointed with the standards. Though I know it's pretty unfair to comment based on one episode. So far, I'd say those with potential are Jon, Nurul and Hady.

Jon does remind me a little of the young Alex Toh, I mean, with his style ... not his vocals though. And his eyes definitely do not resemble Jay, he resembles more of Rain! As for Nurul, she's like what Florence said, her vocals remind me of what I listen on a plane for in-flight entertainment which is really soothing.

Hady has the confidence and can carry it off well. And gosh ... I'm once again proven right that Jasmine TOTALLY CANNOT MAKE IT! Why is she still there???

You're totally right. A lot of them are frantically voting for Paul because he's "soooo hot and has so much character". A lot of them are voting for Joakim because he's "soooooo cute!!!!". But can they sing? I think we all know the answer.

As for the adults who actually support the ones who can sing, are they voting? No. I know at least TWO persons who actually support Jon but when I cajole them to vote, they're like er, nope. I only support him mentally :rolleyes:

I can't comment too much since I didn't watch most of the spetaculars. The TV was just on and occassionally I just listened teeny bits of it.

But I think from yesterday's spectaculars, the best vocals will go to Hady and Jon. The others weren't too good. I didn't like Joakim when he was on the top 24. I didn't understand why he got the chance to be on the top 12 at that time and even till now he's still there. Also, good singers are booted out instead.

It happens in every competition like this. I really think MDC should stop all these shows for sometime.

my guess is that paul will be out next. actually, i think paul and jasmine are kinda unsafe because their performances are really unstable, they can be really good one week, but really bad the next. so i guess their stay in the competition will really depend on how well they perform. they can't make any mistakes or it's seriously "gone case".

but of course, i'd much rather joakim out... shucks, we got so close to getting him eliminated just now! what a pity.

i just started watching singapore idol recently, and i must say that i'm rooting for HADY. his voice is better than the rest, and he sings best too. jonathan is not bad either, but his performances aren't that consistent. as in, he can sound really good in one performance but sound off in another performance.

the last week, i think that joakim or jasmine should have been out instead of nurul, cos she sounds better than them. but well, it's not usually based on the singing isn't it?

to be honest, i don't like paul. i know that he sings okay and stuff, but seriously i can't stand his hair. what's up with the long fringe? and the thing is, he wants to keep it that long, but everytime he does this head movement to get the hair out of his eyes. like seriously, if you don't want your hair to get into your eyes, then cut it already! it's getting on my nerves.

I sometimes wonder if it's just a tactic pulled by all these organizers. As in ... they let those lousy ones continue to stay up there so that people like us get so fed up and get out of our butts and decide to send a SMS just to root for those people who truly deserve ... So as to increase more revenue for themselves.

Think about it, if those people who truly deserve to be out there are really out there ... then no one would bother voting, would they? So we should perhaps just take this whole thing as a game and not so seriously ... so as not to fall into their trap. Coz' the real good ones will ultimately win.

So far, results of these reality shows in Singapore haven't been disappointing right?

My friend was also saying that it's probably a tactic and that all these results are ultimately rigged anyway :rolleyes: As in, in the end, the winner will still be the "RIGHT" winner so it's a win-win situation. People keep voting to keep their idols in (ie. a lot of revenue) and it keeps the show exciting.

Paul Two-hill was eliminated last week. I think the judges and fans cant stand his emo look. The last 3 standing are more mainstream.

I have to totally agree. To me, he's not like DROP DEAD gorgeous or anything but he's got the whole package. Best of all, he's insanely down to earth, it's unbelievable.

And from a neutral point of view, I can see that he's extremely marketable, way more marketable than Hady. I don't hate Hady - he sings well but does it have that "IT" factor? Not to me.

To me, Jon is marketable because he's got the looks, the X-factor, the poise to answer questions at interviews, the brains to make sense when he speak, etc etc etc. You get my point.

Okay, so I watched my second Singapore Idol episode tonight, which means that with the exception of an earlier performance (I think it was the top 8 one which sucked to high heavens) I had no prior knowledge of the contestants, didn't know anything about them, and more or less came in as as fresh viewer.

I hope I don't get stoned for saying this but I think Hady's the better singer. When he did that crappy original song, it actually sounded good and he took the inherent triteness and, well, crappiness out of the song. When Jonathan sang it I was just unimpressed and bored. I did like Jon's rendition of that Snow Patrol song and found his version of that local band's song pretty good, but Hady impressed me more on a higher level.

I guess for me it boils down to who has the wider vocal range - and I think it's obvious that Hady wins this one.

I'm probably going to vote once for Hady but I can't remember the SMS number right now and I'm a bit lazy so I'll think about it.

And no I'm not a Singapore Idol fan.

Also, just something that's perhaps of interest to the Jon fans here. I received an email in my NUS inbox from the admin, telling us about some appearance or whatever it was Jon had at the NUS University Cultural Centre. It basically told us to go down and support him. Anyhow, nah, you won't get stoned. We're all for free speech here (at least I am!) and you know what? I do agree with you that Hady does have a wider vocal range but to me, I see an idol as someone who can appeal to the mass market with a distinct voice. It's like when you hear Jay, you know it's Jay.

When I hear Jon sing, I know it's Jon. Despite Hady having a wide voice range which naturally means he can sing more songs, I still feel that Jon has that edge in terms of individuality and marketability.

If he were to be sent to the world idol to compete, I think that taufik has got a better chance of winning because afterall, people judge you by the way that you speak and everything. So, it is the same for this time too. hady won because he is good at singing, and he has a better command of english over jonathan.

If you don't believe, wait till the next final 2 singapore idol, the same thing will happen again.

But i feel that it doesn't matter who wins, because ultimately, they are all winners for coming so far! they have managed to live their dreams and that's what counts :D

as for jon and hady. i actually told my sis that jon is most probably to win. apart from singing, he has the package. term of look(hady has too) and education. thus i thought that jon will most probably the ideal person if to represent spore.

Our theory of why he lost is maybe because he looks more like some HK or Taiwanese idol (reminds us of F4 actually), so he doesn't got a "Singaporean" look. Yeah that's true. But currently, it seems like the record company that is giving the contract to Hady (can't remember which one) is hesitate about signing on the runner up, for fear of the same thing happening to them like Sly's case (I think the contract ended before the time was up).

So I guess we can only hope that Jon gets a record deal soon! I do miss hearing him sing :cry:

Okay back to SI. Sorry I'm gonna sidetrack a lil bit more. Did anyone read the papers today? There was an article about Taufik's I dream two years ago, that Leann Rimes sang it before, in 2001 or something. OMG that's like super zzzzzzzz O.O
