The Wii (pronounced "we") uses a motion-sensor enabled controller that looks like a TV remote and allows users to direct action on the screen by wielding it like a sword or swinging it like a baseball bat, tennis racket or golf club.

Price is about $200-$250, and it will not exceed $300 for sure. The confirmed colors available right now are black, blue and white as seen in E3 2006. It is planned for Japan launch on October 2006, though it is still a rumor I think it is accountable. Nintendo wouldn't want to fight head-on with PS3's launch on November 2006.

...if the controller actually works like in the video clip.... that would be pretty revolutionary.... the zelda game looks quite good

but i have doubts it will work THAT well

Yes it will. If in E3 2006 they can demonstrate a pixel-perfect accuracy control with the Wii-mote, how much better will it get in about six months when it will be released later this year? It is one of the most advanced technology now, even PS3's controller can't get as precise as Wii.

I have high hopes for this one.

thanks qinshihuang for the link. i love it lol yea i know weird coming a person who's not into buying video systems and games. but it seem like this nintendo wii is going to be a great deal. from the trailer, the target is everyone from lil kids, teenager to elders! i find it great, so spread out.
but i wonder, would our hands get tired holding the controller like a tv remote controller...:glug:

so yeah, i agree with you bluechaos, i too have high hopes for it

looks interesting. sounds interesting

i'm very curious about this machine. and if Nintendo follow the trend at being the cheapest most affordable console then i might consider buying this.

it will definately offer a DIFFERENT gaming experience to the PS3 and the 360

i love Nintendo for their courage and innovation. <3<3<3

I will only get it when more games are released for the console, i mean i get PS3 not just because =of the console but mainly the games that i can play with it :P

If Wii have only a few games and those famous game companies are not interested in developing any games for Wii then count me out :|

yep i agree with you 100%

its the games that make the console great. not the hardware.

i can't stand techboys and fanboys boasting abt which machine is the most superior blah blah because of the hardware and they quote 100 cpu's gazllion ram sticks n 20 usb ports etc etc.

who cares! its all about the games :)

the perfect example is the ps2 vs the xbox

the xbox had better hardware but the ps2 sold more. why? because the ps2 had better games and more variety. nuff said.

Hmm, I think I posted a list of developers that have now moved to developing games for Wii somewhere...

Ubisoft is the first one, and other developers are jealous after E3 2006 saying that "how come Ubisoft knew from the beginning that Wii is good and make games for it?". Then developers started flowing in. Square Enix will make Final Fantasy games and exclusive Dragon Quest games for Wii. With the inclusion of Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros Brawl, there is a possibility of a MGS port to Wii (yay!) and maybe even Winning Eleven, since it's Konami. EA and Activision is also here, and the others I forgot, too many to list.

Talking about the games themselves. In the launch, Wii will already have Zelda, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel, Madden NFL 2007, Dragon Quest and Marvel Ultimate Aliance. Those are good games!

You can always check on http://wii.ign.com for a comprehensive Wii developers and title list.

i havent been hearing much news on nintendo wii as much as i am for ps3 since nintendo newest game system is coming out later than ps3. but here's what i have heard so far reccently.

news:
"As for Nintendo's next console, the Wii, a company spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that the company will ship 6 million systems between launch and the end of March. But the spokesperson said Nintendo is not ready to announce exactly when in the final months of 2006 the Wii will ship, nor how many will be available in stores in North America when it launches."

I'm so excited for the Wii, I don't play video games a lot, I'm more of a casual gamer, I personally like watching people play video games more xD but Nintendo's always been the one to put out the kind of stuff I want to play.

I'm really looking forward to all the quirky games that will be possible on the Wii, and the new Zelda looks awesome. Haha, I'm not going to play it but I'm going to enjoy watching my sister play xD

"the company plans to announce today that it will release its new Wii video-game console in North and South America on Nov. 19, just as the holiday shopping season begins, and that the machine will cost $250 in the United States.

Nintendo will start selling its new console on Dec. 2 in Japan, President Satoru Iwata announced today at a news conference in Chiba prefecture, next to Tokyo.

Nintendo executives said this week that the company also would announce today that more than 25 new games would be available for its video-game machine this year, a substantial portfolio from several genres that is intended to help the company broaden the appeal of its console. The company plans to ship 4 million of the Wii consoles worldwide this year. "

Thanks for the news zhy378!

Hmm...I'm curious on the potential of that new controllers and how good they encourage more interactivity (and therefore, more creative games!). The whole console looks sexy too. For the first time, I actually feel attracted to buy Nintendo console.

If I have some money to spare, Wii is definitely the second console I buy after PS3. :)
