just a side note in case people didn't know yet, the PS3 won't be using the controller in that picture, and will keep using the same design of the PS2 for PS3, except sony decided to take away the rumble feature, and added motion control to the controller.

anyway, i thinking of selling my xbox 360 to get the PS3 when it come out, but i might earn enough $$$ by then to keep both my 360 and get the PS3.

yeah pretty disappointed with Sony's decision to stick with the old 'Dual Shock' controller...

its been around since the PSX and i would have liked a change.

also disappointed that they took out the rumble feature. the reason they gave is because it interferes with the motion sensor technology.

motion tech seems cool. i saw it in action at E3 when ppl were playing warhawk.

as for whether i'll be getting it or not... the answer is yes. but probably not so soon because of the cost.

it will be priced at AU$999 for the Premium console and i think thats just too much to pay for a console. then u have to buy games as well..

too much money esp since i spent alot already on my Xbox 360.

there are good games coming out for the PS3 tho. i would want to get MGS4 and FFXIII. they both look awesome!

Yeah, i agree with Jason on the price, it's gonna be expensive just everywhere, so for now, i will stick to PS2 and the many games i have!

I personally don't like the new controller in the picture so i am kinda glad that it's back to the same old one. Should i even buy the PS 3 that is.

am i the only one in the world that thinks Sony should have been more courageous and stuck with their new concept controller?

its human nature to like and stick to what they know and the PSX/PS2 controller was/is a good controller that every1 loves.

but its dated now and i just feel Sony should have been more innovative in the design. the fact that they reverted to the PS2 controller just stinks like laziness on Sony's part. i guess i'd just like something new to hold to go along with my new console. by sticking with an old controller they are giving off a message they think they can't improve upon it.. in that it is the best they can come up with.....

i mean i hate to say it... but i give full credit to Nintendo.

they are THE innovative company in the industry. from innovative tech to strange console names to awesome/weird looking controller designs... they have the guts and courage to try something different all the time

Though The 20 GB version of the console will not feature Wi-Fi, HDMI, or a memory card reader. So thats the bad part..As of March 2006, there are already over 230 PS3 games and that will be one reason good reason to spend your money on it becaUSE Xbox 60 only had 50 games and you acually had to wait for more games to come..

Jason, actually i don't really mind a change in the controller as long as it is user friendly, in that picture i kinda hate where the L1/L2, R1/R2 buttons are at, and i don't think there will be good grip for those long boomerang edges. Well, i kinda like the motion sensing thing from the youtube clip zhy378 posted, so at least i can say they are slowly to improve it with at least a new function coming on.

PS3 sucks! Right now Sony is the most hated company in the world, and in the U.S. alone many game critics and reviewers have bashed Sony for copying the designs of Nintendo Wii. What, they can't come up with innovative designs and they got scared of Wii, so they think "hey that's good let's just copy it" and throw the boomerang design outta the window (and it never came back)? The boomerang design, when it was announced, was actually the same hardware with the DualShock 2 only with a different casing, so no creativity at all. And then they saw Wii-mote, and reverted to DualShock plus tilt sensor (NOT motion sensor, you can't swing it around like Wii-mote!).

The funniest thing is that they call it DualShock when it won't have vibrating functions anymore, they say it would conflict with the tilt sensor. Heck, Wii got a full 3-D motion sensor in the Wii-mote, plus a vibration function, plus a speaker in it, so how come Sony said that they can't put a vibration? Lack of skills and technology huh? BTW - tilt sensor is like you control a plane, you can tilt it up down left right to make the plane tilt that way. But a motion sensor is like an extension of your hand - if you've seen some of the Wii demos, you can actually swing the Wii-mote in a tennis/baseball game and it will function like a real racket, registering smashes, forehands, backhands, dropshots etc. In FPS games (like Red Steel) you can actually swing it around and the character in the screen will swing around the sword like you did. The PS3 controller can't do that!

I'll just buy a Wii, thank you, it is cheap, and it offers great games. I can buy 2 Wii in price of one PS3.

hmm... i think it's really worth the money to get the ps3, since it offered true 1080p hd quality than the 360, blu-ray disc, cell processor, and the best graphic card that are available on today market from nVidia (RSX). though, i'm not sure if i'll get the wii or not, since i don't really like the idea of it controller, and the lack of support from most of the popular game developer (FF series(Square ENIX), GTA, etc.)

Wii is getting all the support from the best developers right now. Square Enix is behind Wii to make Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, now they are planning on a Wii-exclusive Dragon Quest game and a Final Fantasy III. Konami is clearly behind Wii too as Solid Snake will be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Ubisoft has already chosen to make games for Wii from the start. And with the Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime, etc etc franchises running, Wii would have lots of titles.

The only good, and I mean REAL GOOD, PS3-exclusive titles I see now are MGS4 and FFXIII.

Actually it's not just me saying that, if you go to IGN, Gamespot and other sites they will tell you the same.

SEGA doesn't make any consoles anymore and now it is an independent software maker. As far as I know they will make game for all the console since they are not under an exclusive contract with any of the three console makers. All of Wii, 360 and PS3 will get a Sonic title, but Wii will get 2 titles I think.

Nope, I am quite sure it will be less than $300. Let's see, it got no HDMI support (Nintento said they want it on the next console), it got no Blu-Ray or HD-DVD support (so it uses plain DVD I think), it got no internal hard disk, only 512 MB internal flash memory which can be upgraded by SD cards. So with this configuration I don't think it would be very expensive. XBOX360 offered a lot more than this with $400, you know?

its an awesome console and i gota give credit to M$ for their effort. they have really made a good machine here

and their Marketplace is fantastic. it allows you to d/l demos of games and game trailers and watch it from ur machine in HD at 720p or 1080i

its also got all the latest M$ E3 content from the E3 expo earlier this month.

"Sony Computer Entertainment President Ken Kutaragi said the company will halve its worldwide shipments of PlayStation 3 this year to 2 million and will launch the system in North America on November 17 with 400,000 units. In Japan, just 100,000 units will be available at launch.
Major game retailer GameStop isn't taking pre-orders yet. One retailer told MTV News that stores in that chain won't learn their shipping allocations for another couple of weeks.

Those who want to get a PS3 will have a handful of options: line up at stores the day pre-orders begin, line up at stores not taking pre-orders on November 16 or prepare to bargain for the inevitably sky-high eBay auctions."

Well...I'm not going to buy it anytime soon. But my Japanese friend is going back home just a week after it's release in Japan and gonna bring PS3 back for our summer break! (we're in southern hemisphere).

As for price, I heard PS3 has Linux pre-installed on them...So, basically, it is a computer (and the interface does look like computer desktop from a E3 videodemo). If you think PS3 as another type of desktop computer, the price is reasonable for a desktop computer with a great, high-end processing power. I played Oblivion on Xbox360 and it is damn immersive, super massive realistic (not only in terms of graphic, but gameplay too)...So, what kind of intergalactic realism would PS3 deliver then?

But of course, if you look it at the perspective of PS3 being a console...It is a huge price to pay. But hey, why don't look PS3 as desktop computer point of view? :wink2:

I'm going to buy it at year 2007- December. Now the cost for ps3 is RM4400 ( including 2 controllers and 3 original ps3 game).

I dont think we should buy it so fast for my opinion, you see in my country I buy one ps2 game for RM5 (pirated), my country have lots of pirated CD, so i'm not stupid enough to buy one original game for RM100 +. ANd before you buy ps2, the seller will ask you if you want the modified ps2 or original ps2 console. For the modified ps2 you can play pirated ps2 game, for the original ps2 console you can only play original ps2 game.

And so I hope this could happen on ps3 too! Give them for the hackers to think how to modifiy ps3 ( play pirated CD and etc ). And after 1 year, I think the price will be lower.

Just my opinion, no offence!

hmm, i havent seen the PS3 before. But anyways, I think that it's stupid how people lined up all night long for it just for wanted to be the first few to get it. But it's stupid because in the future, no one is gonna care that you were the first to get it. Why line up in line for so long if you could just get it later, and not line up waiting 10 hours or whatever.

i was going to line up at my local meijier or wal mart to get a ps3, but i was so turn off by the long line at those places that i give up getting the ps3 for now until maybe sometime next years when i don't have to wait in line to get one. Although i don't have one yet, one of my friend actually waited in line for 3 days(and missed school) to get the ps3, so i could probably try the ps3 out when i'm over his place.

I'm waiting for the prices to lower first. Also, I'm waiting for really good stand-out games to be released (like Devil May Cry 4, Lair and Final Fantasy XIII). I was disappointed with the review of the Genji game for PS3 because Genji, Dawn of the Samurai for PS2 was really good. It was fun!

Also, it's going to be awhile before we can rip blue-ray discs. They will be more expensive than pirated PS2 games.

Don't worry. I buy pirated video games, but I buy ORIGINAL copies of Jay's albums!:-)
