If it's for non-Jay die hard fans, I would say:
1) Where did the train go? - not many knows Min Nan Yu
2) Reversal Clock - simple tune which repeats itself at the end.
3) Milan's little blacksmith
4) Wife
5) William's castle - you can see the reponse of the fans in concert when he sang the song. :wink2:
edit: can I add one more? 6) Shanghai 1943
My choice would be:
1. Where did the train go - I don't understand it.
2. Wife
3.Istanbul
4.Reversal Clock
5.William's castle.
What happen to the fans at the concert when he sang William's castle?

It is, but a matter of opinions. However, i DO agree, that some of those listed songs are my absolute FAVOURITES of Jay. Counter-clockwise, has been one of the most, both neglected and memorable song ever. Sure, it's a little repetitive, but the beginning, the melody, the entire thing! i fell in love with it right at the beginning. Fen Lie is a little slow, if that's what you mean, but I think that it's one of the most personal songs. Where the train goes, has a nice melody if you ask me, and personally, i think that just because you may not comprehended it's meaning, doesn't necessarily mean the song isn't good.
and i will never forget Ba wo hui lai. It was my first Jay chou song, and it did a fantastic job of capturing my attention. Though the lyrics may seem a little strange, and repetitive to you, i love the melody of this song. I can't express just how much i love this song, and i hate the way it's being neglected, ignored, and thrown out like trash.
I think that if you try, you'll be able to find somethin good in every song, btu of course, there are ones that we like less. Mine would be:
Wife
Indian Old Duck(though i really thinkt his song is interesting after awhile)
and Milan's little blacksmith.

hmmm...not so good songs.....i reckon....
1) milans little blacksmith...its too weird for me personally....
2) Old Indian Turtledove or something like that....man i fought the song was so frickin weird i deleted it off my comp after the first 2 listens....the horse thing in the middle doesn't do it for me....lolz hehehahha
3) Bu Zhi Bu Jue Ai Shang Ni...roughly meaning its not on any of his albumz...i just downloaded it off da net...its just....not nice...
4) shuang dao.....dunno why just hasn't grown on me
5) tong yi zhong diao diao.....
and yeah i agree wit JIANDANAI....wat is wrong wit u pplz??!! backwards clock and istanbul are like my fav JAY songs....so nice....^^

Some of the songs others have said are not so fab are my favourites (eg. Fen Lie/Split)
these are the ones i skip when i listen to my J collection (ie. not the best) and not in any particular order
1. Perfectionist - too weird/no definite tune and i hate how he repeats his name too many times for my liking
2. Bullfight - i know Jay likes b'ball and so wrote a song but i don't realli like it again..maybe cos of the singing and the lyrics don't make any sense (eg. about the medicine box at the end)
3. Indian Old Bird - too many sound effects that don't make sense.....and i don't think it is one of Jays favs either cos he never sings it......and the style of singing is very unJay-like.....the song drags on of too much
4. Shanghai 1943 - very montonous....though the MV is nice
5. Sorry - the most hated song....it just ruined the Fantasy album
6. Iron Box of The Island - though i know most of you like this one, even my sis :) ...i bit repetitive in the stanzas singing them over again and again ....which makes the song a bit too long
7. Milan Steelsmith - the animal sounds are creative but over the top....and the musical intermission with the clapping does not help either...doesn't sound like they should belong in the same song...
8. The Last War - i know it is meaningful and deep...talking about war and its badness but somehow doesn't stick
9. In The Name of The Father - the intro is way too long and the sound effects get annoying after a while...though watching the MV has helped in deciphering some of them (eg. why there was gun shots)
10. Coward - too metal and rock....and the kids sound terrible, esp. when Kitty was singing at the summer MTV show
11. Her Eyelashes - the intro sounds familiar..and the instruments don't match...and why does he have to repeat that verse about her like a peach and wants to bite it too many times
so i have been a bit greedy  but at least i've listed all the songs which i don't esp. like in all the albums :-x
i was waiting for one of these threads to appear so i could blurt out everythign i wanted to say....too lazy to create one myself :bleh:

1. Niang Zhi [wife] - for some reason teh tune really bothers me! i can never make it to the end of the song
2. Ti Tian [terrace fields] - just doesnt stick with me; i think its all the bg yelling and what not
3. bullfight - i used to like it but everything gets a little too repetitive after awhile
4. Nuo Fu [coward] - its not my style of music - too rock
5. Milan's Ironsmith - it's a different beat but its not catchy enough
I think it's not that those songs are not flashy enough.. just that Jay seldom sing it live.
These are the songs that i wish to see him singing it live:
1. Huo Che Dao Wei Qu (Train song in Taiwanese)
2. Niang Zi (He mumbled too much in this song, might become appealing if he sings it live.)
3. Yi Si Tan Bao (No comments)
4. Fan Fang Xiang De Zhong (Needs to listen for few times before it becomes appealing)
5. Ai Qing Xuan Ya ( :? )

I totally agree with dream, i love counterclockwise the first time i heard it, its so soothing and sweet!! Jay's sounded so soft when singing the song. And Fen Lie was another song that i love immediately beside an hao and ban dao tie when I first listened to 8 Dimensions album!!! Fen Lie just caught my attention!!! Jay's voice sounded so soulful in the fen lie song!!!
Okay heres the the list of songs which aint exactly my so called hit songs
1) Indian Old Duck ( i have to admit i nearly hate this song when i first hear it, theres no coordination and the music sorts of sounds so noisy, its like the song has no rhythm at all!
2) Milan's little blacksmith (another song that has the same problem with indian old duck, dun like the sheep's sounds!! also not like it the first time i heard it and also subsequent repeating of this songs sitll doesnt make me likes this song)
Not too bad, i only have 2 unbearable songs in the Jay 4 albums!!! :D

sesame street:
you got like 11 songs of jay's u dun like...
that's like the whole ye hui mei album... lol
but anyway, everyone got different tastes.
Thanks for all u's comments
and i found out that most songs ppl dun like are from the first album - 'jay'
i think bcoz he was new and not many ppl knows him, so that's y those songs are not as popular.
Coz now everybody knows jay so not many songs on ye hui mei album is on that list... i adore every song in ye hui mei..... ^^

Most of my "not-so-flash" songs are from his first album.
1) Indian Old Duck
2) Wife
3) Reversal Clock
I love everything on Fantasy, even William's Castle (I can sing!!) and Shanghai 1943!! :D
I love everything on 8D too! Ok, maybe except the train one.
And his current one...well...I can't decide now. I usually take some time to love all his songs. I kinda think Jay's songs are like an acquired taste. You don't like them much on first listen...but they just slowly grow on you.

]what is WRONG WITH U PPL?? reverse clock, where the train go, fen lie, istanbal, are all good song o_O even wife is ok
yeah, i agree. i think where did the train go is a fab song! then istanbul is really nice also.. fen lie is great.. and i just fell in love with reverse clock lately
i guess the 5 songs i'll choose is:
1) yin di an lao ban jiu
2) ti tian
3) ban shou ren
4) ??
5) ??
oopz... i can't think of anymore songs... guess i like most of them. i think william's castle is kinda funny though :bleh:
personally at the beginning, i never liked the first album that much, and till now it's my least fave of all four but most of the songs have already grown on me, and i've learned to love Wife and Bullfight...
anyways, the not-so-good songs of Jay, for me:
1. Perfectionist - this song has grown on me, but just a little bit.. very far from being a favorite song
2. Reversed Clock - ??
3. Sorry - it's catchy, but i wouldnt pick it to be in my Jay Mix-Cd
4. Rice Fields - i just never pay any attention to this song.. good thing it comes semi-last on Ye Hui Mei
5. Indian Old Duck - i appreciate its uniqueness, but still.. there are limits to appreciation

i think there are only a few songs that i don't like such as istanbul, the last war, shanghai 1943...
everyone have different tastes...all of us like different kinds of songs...i like some of the songs that some of you do not like while some of you think that its not as attractive....i think this is how jay have attracted so many people around the world by his different styles in many songs, making him so popular.....
hehe...this is only my opinion though....
i think William's Castle is a great song! its a change to all the other relationship related songs that people sing, even jay sing, of course, the old news is that jay don't have a really clear words when he sings some of his songs right? well, i can't totally hear jay in William's Castle, but i like the whole idea of the song, or the bit that i get- castle, witch, =) hehe. its nice too. =)
I think that if you try, you'll be able to find somethin good in every song, Wife.
i really agree with that, in general and for jay
especially for jay
his voice,
his words
the meaning i find in his songs,
his difference
his specialness!
people said that he's only good because he's different, but i say he's good and he's different!

ummm... i only have 2 jay songs that don't do too much for me...
1) Wife
2) Indian Old Bird
i like "william's castle" actually. i think it's got an interesting melody and the lyrics are quite unique. even "bullfight" is all right to me. and i like some of the other stuff people mentioned they don't, i.e., "the last battle", "reversed clock", etc.

i luv the last war, ti tian, dad i'm back, & in the name of father! but here's my list:
1. Nuo Fu- cuz it's too rockish
that's the only song that i can think of that i dont really like. at first i couldnt even stand to listen to the whole song, but now it's ok since i'm used to it..still, not my style of music :glug:

I agree with the choices and the last part of what you said..you have to let Jay's songs grow on you. Most of the time, it's not immediate love.

Haha
I think the thing about Jay's songs is that the more you listen to them, the more you grow to like them!!!
the songs i initially liked least were:
1. Ba Wo Hui Lai Le
2. Indian Bird
3. Istanbul
4. counterclockwise clock
but after listening to them more, i actually like all them them now!!!
for some warped reason, i really really like ba wo hui lai le....=) its one of the wierder songs, and initially i really disliked it....but somehow it finds a way of sticking and well its wormed its way onto my playlist of nice jay songs =) same goes for istanbul, i really do quite appreciate it now....
same goes for the other 2 as well, they sounded strange in the beginning, but i'm okay with them now....and i htink the mtv for counter clockwise clock is pretty cool, so it has that in its favor...
my current least liked are probably the ones i havent gotten used to yet...
1. Ti Tian
2. Shuang Dao
3. San Nian Er Ban (tho i like this mtv)

Hmm...... its really hard to diss his music ! But I do have some songs that I just dont really get :
Indian Turtledove : I do like listening to the song as I like jazz music and I thought this was similar, but I really dont get the meaning of the song (im huge of the lyrics) !
Terraced Fields : I like the lyrics a lot ! I guess its just the fact that its a bit hard to listen to. Not the greatest arrangement of singing.... those old men singing kinda give me the creeps !
The Tea Grandpa Makes : I like the happy vibe I got off this song, but it was kinda weird lyrics-wise !
I also think that Jay's vocals for this song were kinda weak, or a bit unoriginal.
Clock that goes Backwards : Originally I liked hearing this song ! I played it over and over and over again ! It was crazy..... I guess I just played it a bit too much and now it kinda just bugs me !
William's Castle : the lyrical concept was a bit too far fetch. Listening to it is kinda boring. The story just doesnt appeal to me I guess !
Sorry if I offended anyone..... just expressing my thoughts. Sorry Jay ! >.<

oh my goodness..sigh. really liked almost all the songs that you guys listed haha..especially Ba Wo Hui Lai Le!!! its like my absolute favourite song by him..very deep and sad..and Yin Di An Lao Ban Qu! i love that song! haha cuz of all the weird funny animal sounds and its just so cute and happy..oh well..
thought the Wei Lian Gu Bao mtv was cool and scary..dark and..scary..so kinda caught my attention..but not my absolute favourite i guess..
and the Niang Zi rap is really nice! didnt really like it at first and always skipped it but after i tried to learn the lyrics it became nice..
Dou nu is not that nice in the cd but was really good live! cuz it didnt sound so repetitive and was much shorter and concise and really good..
i guess i dont really have any hated song..haha..after listening to everything again everything's fine!

i totally agree with some of you~!!
some songs are kindda weird but they have some meaning in them which makes them attractive. the melody also sometimes jus strikes us suddenly and make us repeat the track continuously. for me maybe is that train song, and probably a few from <Jay>.
but c`mmon, jay produces such good songs in his albums. majority of the songs... i mean like 95% of the songs are good, he can't produce 100% perfect album, everybody has different taste. but it is considered very good compared to a lot of other artists... (not defaming anyone here.. but..) some artists only have 1 song which is nice~!
:)

i like ti tian (the lyrics are very socially aware!). and i like erversed clock too...hmmm.
i agree about 95% of them really being good (my hands are definitely down for his talent in composing). it seems all them have their own "star" quality. if you know what i mean...

must say 'pa i am back " introduce me to jay's songs - it captured me attention and make me want to discover who the wrote and sang the song .
my least fav-
shanghai 1943 - boring - lsitening upteen times , since boring
perfection - repeating his name is cute but not so often
nou fo - got a shock every time after the wonderful feelings from yfzm - the child rapping and the sudden extreme volume - bad combi.

Oh gosh.... I can't believe so many of you hate WIFE/NIANG ZI. That's actually one of my most favorite song. I think the melody is so unique and very original. And also... Ban Shou Ren.... argh... that's like the best masterpiece. :? And I think Wan Mei Zhu Yi is a very nice R&B song. William's Castle is very nice song!!! It's so unique and the melody is very nice. :) Ah,... oh wellz, everyone has their own taste.
My least favorite songs
1. Old Indian Ducks (I know it sounds fun and creative, but it's too shabby)
2. Milan Ironsmith (I think the song is too repetitive and it's kinda boring after a while)
3. Shanghai 1943 (Very very monotone.... very boring and Jay's mumble is tooo much)
4. Istanbul (It's melody is so boring and the pace is too slow)
5. Ai Qing Xuan Ya (Not original enough for me. It sounds like Rui En's song (track#4) and I just find it hard to appreciate a song that sounds like other song)

*cough* Why on earth people don't like Ti Tian, I'll never understand. I love that song so much. It's my favorite off the new album. The piano... And Reversed Clock! That is one of the coolest Jay songs ever. It's so soft and smooth.. and the PIANO! And Fen Lie... The meaning is so deep and the cello is so beautiful in that song...
Gah, don't mind my rambling. It just seems a lot of the songs listed here are my favorites, which makes me kind of sad. Can you tell I'm a sucker for songs with piano or cello? -.-
As for my own bones to pick:
- Milan Ironsmith: 'Tis boring
- Istanbal: Reminds me a lot of Milan Ironsmith.
- Ta De Jie Mao: I'm sorry but I have SERIOUS issues with this song. It is the one song that I can't listen to because of the boyband factor.
And actually, for Bullfight, I would urge everyone to get The One live version of it before passing judgement. The way Jay sings Bullfight in the live concert album is really quite refreshing and has a lovely olden day feel to it. Plus, the rap is kickin.

Why no one stick up for Old INdian Dove?! i was hoping to see someone exclaim over the injustice for Indian Dove, but no one did, though songs like niang zi and reverse clock all had defenders.
Actuall i love reverse clock and indian dove the most from his first album, i really like the light-hearted and funny indian dove especially the part where he goes"ni xiao ge pi ah, haha"
my top five songs would be:
1) Niang Zi-can't stand this virtually tuneless song, usually his rap has some kind of hook, but this song just don't grab me. i really tried to like it, but it just isn't meant to be.
2) Grandpa's Tea- i noticed not many people dislike this song, but i don't like the boring and tuneless structure of this song. as what monkee said in his review, it's a song that probably took jay all of 2 mins to compose.
3) Ke ai nu ren- it's too boring, it spoils the whole cd for first-time listeners, and it's the first song too! i usually start the disc on the second song to skip this bore.
4) Where the train going-it's really not worth listening to, the tune's not that great, i don't understand the lyrics, the whole package is poorly done, and jay doesn't show up till the mtv is halfway through.
5) Black Humour-it's probably a big surprise, but for reasons i myself don't understand, i have never liked this song which most jay fans worship, judging from the forums. logically, i understand that it's a good song, it has moving lyrics, touching tune, soulful singing, heart-wrenching instruments, But i can't bluff myself, i feel so impatient when i'm listening to this song, and i usually end up skipping it mid-song. before you bomb me with indignant objections, i would like to say that i myself do not know why i don't like the song, it may have to do with my psychological trauma from childhood(sarcastic), but i have given up trying to pretend i like it or making the effort to like it.
(by the way, i find that Shuang Jie Gun and Ninja is practically the same song with different culture, and i often confuse the 2 songs, i wonder if anyone have the same problem?)

haha wow ur really different than everyone else...the 3 of the songs u listed...r REALLY popular...ke ai nu ren, ye ye pao de cha, and black humour...
HOW CAN U NOT LIKE YE YE PAO DE CHA? AND KE AI NU REN? :? that jus blaffes me =P but i guess its jus a difference of opinion..and i respect that speak ur mind ^^

I like Niang Zi because of it's one of the hardest song to play on piano. It has that twisted chords which is kinda unpredictable. To be able that song would need extra work. So that's why I always think Niang Zi is a wonderfully-composed song. Because of the difficulty factor. ^ ^

um...
1. where did the train go????
2. William's Castle
3. Shanghai 1943
4. Tong Yi Zhong Diao Diao
5. Nuo Fu - i don't really hate the song, but the guitar riffs are too loud, drown out his rapping and give me a headache. :( not even qing tian can alleviate my migraine after that...

old men singing??? Which part? U mean the part where someone sang "Oh my beloved cows". If you mean that part, it was actually sang by Jay :wink2: Can't remember any old men singing except for this part where Jay's voice went really low :?

mine would be (no specific order):
1) indian old chicken (or something like that) - it was so weird, i really didnt like it at all, after one listen, i had enuff
2) in the name of the father - i have no idea why so many ppl like this song, but i guess ppl are entitled to their own opinions. the onli bit i like is the first like 5 secs before the weirdo screaming or wateva. and i'm not sure if i'm the onli person who notices this but its soooooooooooo repetative, and he uses like zero vocal skills in it, it just sounds like he's talking thru the whole damn thing.
3) san nian er ban - gah!! i hate this song too!! mainly is the ping pong noises that really irritate me and the guy on the speaker fone is really crap as well. again, he just talks thru the whole thing, he has so much skill, doesn't seem like he uses any of it in that song.
4)ti tian - talks thru the whole thing AGAIN, basically its most of the reasons above, no skill. if i were to introduce this song to someone whose never heard jay before, i'm pretty sure in the future they wont wanna hear him ever again
5) williams castle - pfffff, this song is alrite, but its down the bottom i think

Lol Indian Old Chicken? Why don't you say kentucky fried chicken? that's jay's favourite food...
hey i think the reason he don't use his singing skills in those songs because those are known as RAP! if you don't like those songs maybe it means you don't like rap in the first place, just like the moderator who don't like shuang jie gun and long quan, she probably don't like rock. hey jay really has a lot of different genres of music, there must be a suitable song for everyone. unfortunately, it also means that there will be disruptancies when you have so many types of music, people can't like ALL the types.

I can't believe it, so many people hate William's Castle? It is seriously one of my favourite Jay songs, because it is so unique.
The only one song i have trouble accepting is Ta De Jie Mao; I totally agree with what Linny has mentioned.
Alright, I'm here to defend Milan Ironsmith, there's nothing wrong with that song! I love the oriental element in the song, as well as its quirky feel.

I think its yeye pao the chai, indian old duck( that song doesn't make sense at all...)and...that's about it actually...I know lots of ppl hate milan's ironsmith, but I find it actually not that bad...after listening to it quite a few times...

woah.... i am in a serious state of disbelief here.... how could u guys not like Pa wo hui lai le ? It was that song that brought Jay to my attention two years ago... however big a fan of his am i , i'd hate to say that indeed there a few songs that quite isnt to my liking ( dislike is too strong a word )
1- fen lie - its too remisicent of An Jing , and it doesnt have that level of poignancy as with An jing for some reasons anonymous .
2- Hui che dou wei qu - An obvious 'un-hit' with most listeners and jay fans alike , but i feel that language doesnt have a big part to play ( if so how do you explain the rising popularity of J and k-pop ? ) , more likely the tune isnt as catchy ( most prollie because he was trying to xperiment with different sounds but it kinda failed in this 1 )
3- ta de jie mao - hmm. I cant exactly explain why this song doesnt appeal to me. and i cant figure out the genre either. In a nutshell , this won't be song i'll be humming
And i'm still trying to figure out why Nuo Fu wasnt as warmly welcomed either !!!!! I felt that yeah , although the little girl's voice really sucked big time when she sang live ( evident in the MTV summit . She was basically ranting and tryin to scream her lungs out) , it sounded pretty ok in the studio recording and it was unique in the sense because it was the first time Jay included someone else in his song ( wu ding excluded )

u ppl have some of my favourite songs on your list, but i respect your opinions :wink2:
so, hereīs my not-so-favourite songs:
1)Milans Small Ironsmith: i guess itīs just the weird topic and the instrimental part in the middle just doesnt rock my boat. this song reminds me of Square of Prague, maybe itīs the similar melody...
2)Rice Fields: i like the 1st verse alot, but when Jay starts singin the stuff bout beloved cows, its just it for me. cant bare to listen no more. (and he DOES sound alot like an old man. :D )
3)Old Indian Dove: this song has started to grown on me, like it alot more than before, but still, itīs just a little too weird for me. the animal sounds in the beginning are fun though :)
thatīs about it, i find all other jayīs songs gd..
3) Bu Zhi Bu Jue Ai Shang Ni...roughly meaning its not on any of his albumz...i just downloaded it off da net...its just....not nice...
oh i think thatīs not even a jay song. might be david taoīs. correct me if im wrong but i have never heard of it as Jayīs song.

i don't really like indian old turtledoves, ban shou ren and shuang dao..these songs don't really appeal to me maybe because of the style..but it's not really VERY bad. i like these songs too but not as much as the others.

I think they are :
1) fang fan xiang de zhong.
I just listen it twice and i think it is quite boring.
with the same tune and that's it.
2) niang zhi
The rap part is not as good asother songs. And
the lyrics quite meaningless.
3) dou niu.
It keeps repeating the same lines..Boring.
4) yi shi tan bao.
Althought the lyrics quite good,it is still unpopular
among the fans. Dunno wat's the problem. I just
feel don't really like this song.
5)huo che dao wei qu
The tune is too dull. Like mumbling.
( Sorry to those who like these songs)

hmmmm....I have to say, I actually like most of the songs you guys listed, such as Dad I'm Back and the Last War, but then again I only judge by the music, not the lyrics since I don't understand them, so that's probably why, although I admit some songs are unattractive, just by the music type~

I guess everyone has their own opinions, cuz I actually like Dad, I'm Back and In the Name of Father. So far its only Milans Small Ironsmith that I don't really like.

hate to say it, but our jay has had a few bummers over the years:
1. Milian's little blacksmith-urgh!
2.Hei Se You Mo- so slow, so boring, sounds painful (sorri jay!)
3.Indian's dovebird thingy-a litle scary jay
4.renzhe-wat's with the 'ho i ho...' sound that he makes, so weird!
5.fen lie-so slow! so crap!
still, everyone makes mistakes and the number of jay's gr8 far outumber the bad ones, so i just wanna state for the record that i still luv jay!

I can't believe the number of people who don't like Fan Fang Xiang De Zhong! That is my favourite Jielun song EVER! I love everything about that track, lyrics, melody, background music, EVERYTHING!!
And the train song (never got around to finding out how to pronounce the words ) is GREAT TOO! I thought that was one of the better tracks from 8D.
And Ti Tian is my favourite song from YHM!!!!!
Okay, whatever, to contribute to the list:
1. Kai Bu Liao Kou
I like the song; it's just not one of my favourite Jielun songs. I mean, it just gets bland after a while.
2. Long Juan Feng
Nice to sing to but I find myself stop anticipating the song whenever I listen to Jay Album.
3. Gui Ji
Seriously, if it weren't a Jielun song (ie. if it were sung by some crappy boyband with shitty vocals without the heart-breaking pathos that Jielun's voice has), I'd say it's absolutely boring. And it's the most boring ringtone ever.
4. Qing Tian
Absolutely loved it when I first listened to it but after a while... I still adore the opening melody though.
5. An Jing
I know, that is really weird but I mean, I don't know, I guess I don't really have a thing for love songs because the songs that I like more than others tend to be things like Fan Fang Xiang De Zhong, Dui Bu Qi, Mi Lan De Xiao Tie Jiang, the train song, Shuang Dao (awesome), Ti Tian, Long Quan... I mean, An Jing is totally gorgeous and depressing but I wouldn't recommend it as a test song to non-Jielun fans.
I guess it's just me though.
