I've recently purchased a mp3 player for my aunt, JWD (Jing Wah Digital) JWM-8820D (256MB) 3.6V Li-Rechargable Battery. I'm having trouble with the battery. it wont start up if i disconnect the usb plug from the wall or the computer. I tried charging the mp3 player in every possible situation (like switching the "on switch off" which i still dont know what it does) but still no luck. like i installed all the programs and i can transfer files and play them, but i still havent managed to charge it or what ever my problem is. I tried searching it on the web, but unfortunately i cant read chinese, and the JWD web has their tech support under construction for a year now. If anyone can help me i gladly appreciate it, thanks.

i was having exactly the same problem with my ipod mini too.

i dunno what the hell happened but then i believe its becoz the usb port is not a powered one. when i connect my ipod to my brother's com...it was able to charge.

so i believe ur usb port wasnt a powered one:wink2: (not very sure if 'powered' is the term for this:oops: )

chineseguyjl,
let me see if i get what you mean..
you can play it when it's connect to the wall or the comp??
but can't play it when it's removed??
i think there's surely some prob with your mp3's batt..
did you charge it overnight first when you first get it??
is it removable?? the batt??
maybe you can try it with other type of batt if it's removable..

hope this helps.. :wink2:

Hmm.. Is there any buttons you can press to reset your player? I would recommend that if it is possible. Like for your nano Kasic, you can try press and hold the menu button and the select button to reset the player. That might help, else it is most likely the problem with your cable.

In your case, chineseguyjl, perhaps you can try removing the battery if possible and insert it again and try again. Why not you try going back to the place you brought the player and ask for an exchange of the battery and the cable itself?

Yeah, if you bought it from a store and don't want to just get it "exchanged", buy another one and keep the new one and return the defective one.

nice nice, i've done that a couple of times, but unfortunately i bought it in china and i live in US.

The battery cant be taken out, unless u unscrew everything. but i think its just a defective rechargable battery.

The usb cord should be fine, i mean i used it to transfer files from and to the computer with it. but the usb cant charge up or something. i'll try using different usb cables.

Thanks guys, i appreciate ur support very much.

There is no problem with the USB cord, I'm sure. It doesn't differentiate between charging and simply supplying power. The culprit is more than likely to be the charging mechanism, or the battery itself.

heh it's a mini...not nano hee hee. but well i am able to upload and update the ipod but then it just wont charge when i leave it alone. it will only charge whenever i update it...which is like for only a few mins.
i believe it's something wrong with my usb port. so now...no choice gotta rely on my brother whenever it comes to charging the ipod:oops:

scarletwillow the instruction book stated that a 2.0 powered usb port is needed for charging... heh i thought it was the problem:?

Well, the port is different than the cord =P

I thought USB 1.1 could charge too, though.

no, i dont think it's the problem with the version of usb, because i have a iriver h10 that will work on both the 1.1 and 2.0, and the h10 will charge even if i plug it into the 1.1 instead of the 2.0 port.

kat..
you might wanna bring it back to check??
my mini can charge eventhough my laptop's a 1.1 usb too...
actually i have a AC cord too..
i usually charge using it.. >.<
don't u have it??

well theres only 1 plug, the usb port, and that charges and transfers. i tried on both usb 1.1 and usb 2.0. i'm thinking it is the charging mechanism, becuz u kno how asia uses 220v and america uses 110v or somethin. but still it should still work on my computer right.

oh wait could it be that it is somehow disconnected to the recharable battery on the inside.

chineseguyjl, I don't think it is a problem with the voltage system, because they would have to change it according before they sell it in the different regions. So it is highly probable that the problem lies with the cable or the battery since it can work when connected to your computer.

Kasic, I use the mini too! But I don't seem to have any problem using both the usb 1.1 and usb 2.0 to charge my mini using my lappie though. So it might be that your cable is faulty. :worry:

go buy a charger instead..if it is a 2.0 USB..then just buy a charger with the same 2.0USB..u dont hav to scared that u bought it from China and the charger wont work..because 2.0 USB is universal
