i have pondered over this for a long time, and i have to say i think that Nuo Fu is talking about drug addicts and how they are the real cowards, becos they dun have the guts to say no.(shuo bu, bu dai biao uo fu)
also snoopy's sis raps(qu jie jing si shen, ni liao ma, hen liao ma?) sounds like he is talking about how people who try drugs are trying to play with death.
(bi kong fang da bu dai biao neng kan de gen duo)flared nostrils doesn't mean you see more is the line where i make my conclusion that this is really an anti-drug song, because i associate nostrils with the intake of drugs, when you sniff it up your nose. so by doing drugs, you are not actually seeing more.
the part where he says don't cloud my world with dirt is also a reference to drugs, in fact, lee hom have a song which i like very much, China White, is about drug pushers in a sub-urban neighbourhood, reminds me od this song. id you can, go hear that song, it's quite inspirational.

.(shuo bu, bu dai biao uo fu) <- doesn't this mean "Saying no doesn't mean you're a coward"? ??

)ni liao ma, hen liao ma) I thought it said Ni Diao Ma? Ni Diao Ma?

yes, you're right there.
(ni liao ma, hen liao ma) I thought it said Ni Diao Ma? Ni Diao Ma?
it's actually "liao" which has been translated as "understand" over in the translated lyrics forum.

you know the phrase 'hen liao ma?' i would translate it with the rough meaning of 'you think you're so great ah?'
as in 'liao' as in 'liao bu qi' meaning 'great'..
cos i think it fits in with the song better... 'to get near to death, you think you're so great?"
he's like chiding people who take drugs as thinking that they're being great by taking the stuff.. do you all get what i'm saying?

i didn't read the translations cos i can read and understand chinese and would rather interpret the lyrics from what i read.. so i dunno whether i'm wrong with my interpretation

tong kong fang da bu dai biao neng kan de gen duo.

This part is "tong kong" meaning the pupil of the eyes. With that, it will mean "Even you open your eyes bigger (or dilate your pupil), it doesn't mean you can see more"

yeah... that's what i interpreted "liao" as, too. as in "liao bu qi". but then i saw the translation, so i became unsure... =0 i guess it might be interpreted as the "liao" in "liao jie", like do you know that you're actually playing with death. but i initially thought that it was what you wrote above, that he was talking about do you think you're so great because you're doing this kinda thing. at least "liao bu qui" was my first impression when i read that part of the chinese lyrics. i think it's supposed to be a rhetorical question instead of an admonishing one. also, since the lyrics are NI liao ma, followed by HEN liao ma, that's why i took it to be the "liao" in "liao bu qi" as well.

i interpreted the first liao to be understand, and the second one to be great, so i translated it to be do you understand? even if you do, is that so great? and i didn't see the tong kong thing, thanks for correcting me.

who is that little girl exactly? can someone please tell me more about her?????

and, i think that 'liao' can be taken two ways...
你了吗?(ni liao ma?):do u understand? (了解, liao jie)
很了吗? ( hen liao ma?): think you're so great? (了不起, liao bu qi)

so, it's kinda like :i look down on the innocence of the ppl who are so curious that they would get close to the god of death. do u understand??? do u think it's great??

That girl is Huang Kitty. She's Snoopy's older sister. And Snoopy was the little boy who raps in Jolin's Bu La de Guang Chang, and also perform with Jay on Golden Melody Awards. Jay said that she's a pretty good rapper (has potential). Jay said Kitty could rap Shuang Jie Gun and Ban Shou Ren, which Jay thinks is very impressive. Therefore, he decided to use Kitty in this new album. That's as much as I know.

I really like this song, because of its meaning....
But some of the sentences doesn't sound 'complete', I mean, doesn't sync with the rest of the song, if you understand what i mean....

Na yi kuai zai wo meng li di de gan jing tian kong (x2)
That piece of clear sky that I see in my dreams
shi fou wan da feng chui ye xu jiu neng kan dao (x2)
Would I see it again when I play 'Da Feng Chui' (the game)

Firstly, I thought the repeating of the two sentences didn't go with the song. The first time I heard it, I was thinking, why did he have to repeat it?
Then the second sentence, how would playing 'Da Feng Chui' help him see that 'piece of sky'? If he is saying that the drugs would help him get to a dream, and see the sky in his dreams, then there should be a better way of expressing it....

Up till now, I still think those two sentences affected the smooth flow of the song.

But I love the chorus! The tune is so catchy and captivating... best part of the song! Other than the lyrics, of course! :yeah:

ok this is what i think the 2 sentences that you mentioned means..
'da feng chui' is the game 'blow wind blow'.. do you know what game that is? well i can't really remember how that game is played exactly by it's something like when the co-ordinator of that game shouts certain commands.. the roles of everyone in that game change.. i.e. if i was previously a tree in a particular round, i can't be a tree again in the next round...
so basically playing 'da feng chui' is a metaphor for changing your role/place... i think the piece of sky is something he hopes for (that's why it's in his dream) and he's saying that perhaps switching his position/role he will be able to see the sky that he's hoping for... the fact that the lines are repeated emphasises the yearning to see that sky..
waahh.. this is really quite 'cheem' (deep) i'm not even sure if i'm correct.. but this is my interpretation... Jay's lyrics are really getting better and better...

Hmm I guess he is asking can playing the childhood game help him see the piece of clear sky that can be found in his dreams? Its like returning to innocence. :)

edit: wow..after reading dazettle's posts make me think that jay's lyrics are deep! getting better! :excited: this makes more sense.. ^^;

I dun think so, the game 'Da Feng Chui' is the game 'blow wind blow', right?
But that games goes like this, one group of people sit in a circle, preferably a large group of people.
And the one who is 'it', will say something like
"Blow wind blow,
Blow away all those_________"
The blank space is for the person to say anything he/she wants....

Like:
'blow away all those wearing specs'
Then all those wearing spectacles will have to run from the position and find another seat in the circle to sit down. During this chaos, the person who is 'it' will take the chance to grab a seat to sit down. The one left standing will be the next 'it'.....

I think the game dazzlette mentioned is the "Fire, Squirrel, Earthquarke game"?

If the song refers to the Latter, then yap, it does make sense...... But if it is the prior, then......

-MacDawn
PS: But then again, there could be a game with the same name.

hmm macdawn i think i got the games mixed up.. sorry didn't realise that.. maybe i'm trying too hard to fit the lyrics with a suitable game... anyway from taiwan here who knows the game can help?

but anyway now that i think about it again.. the game blow wind blow still makes sense.. cos in that game you still change positions and in that moment where you change positions there is that sudden chaos.. so i think the meaning is still there.. i.e. by changing positions/your place.. he can see the sky he was hoping for

You know what? I am beginning to see dazzlette's point about the lyrics.... although I still feel that there might be a better way of expressing it :) I mean, people outside Taiwan may not know what that game is, and if they dun, they would be missing the point....

But i still feel that for that part, the constant repeating does not go with the rest of the song.... Just my opinion though, i still like the song :yeah:

hey macdawn i know that i suck at explaining stuff but i'm glad that you somehow managed see my point.. i could be totally wrong though.. maybe Jay did it on purpose so the meaning is not clear.. i read somewhere that Jay likes his lyrics to not be so direct so there's some room for interpretation.. that's partly why he writes so few lyrics and takes so long to write them.. but don't you think all this deciphering is kind of fun?

Yeah yeah.....

Actually, it is pretty fun to try and read between the lines for songs.... makes you appreciate all the literature training in secondary 1 and 2. It made me understand that every action, every word, usually is there for a reason.....

And like this song, interesting to see people readin differemt things between the lines...

Sure make me feel really intelligent!

or it could just be people who have too much free time and like read too much into something that doesn't really mean much!! :D

i remember last time during Literature lessons my classmates used to read too much into very simple ideas which can get really annoying at times.. esp if you totally disagree with the person and think that the person is talking crap.. i have a friend in school who takes music and during her composition classes they are supposed to analyse each others' pieces.. there was once the teacher took her piece and started praising her for her careful use of notes, rests and bars etc in bringing out the feeling in her composition.. but in actual fact she just composed every thing on the spot without thinking about any thing like that!!

ok i just got really long-winded.. i like Nuo Fu too.. cos i think that the lyrics are really good.. it's rather deep.. it shows that Jay can write good lyrics too!! :D

hahahaha...I didn't realise how much nuo fu's lyrics meant. I just appreciated the song, and the rap without finding out the real meaning to the lyrics as it was too cheem, and yeah, I'm no chinese expert here. :D

hey dazzlette and macdawn, I always read too much into my literature poetry!!! I think too much and write things which are so far-fetched that I go out of point when the answer is just so simple and straightforward. oops! off topic! hahaha. okay, nuo fu rocks!

hmm... ah, so now your realised that this song is about anti-drug? no offence....
i mean your dun look at lyrics when your listen to the song is it?
i mean i look at the lyrics and understand them while i learn to sing. not just mermorise without understanding, hee..

this is one of the lyrics i like best in the whole album. think jay's is improving in his lyrics writing.

"ti tian"(terrace) talks about protecting our natural environment, protecting them from tourist industry and for the sake of our own good living. we can make alterations to our life-style but plants and landscape can't.
