David Tao and Jay Chou finally cross the 'river', and appear on the same stage. Daivd Tao agree to be Jay's special guest in his upcoming conert, and both planned to sing each other's songs.

David Tao was holding a celebratory dinner for his latest album when his rumoured 'opponent' showed up, marking the first time these two artistes appear on the same stage together. Jay showed great sincerity in his invitation, by presenting David with a hand-written invitation, to which David readily agreed. It was a historical moment when the two pose for the photo-taking, possibly marking the start to a new revolution in chinese pop music.

David's impression of Jay was that, he is rather shy when in front of the camera, but off-camera, he is very active, and like to fool around. Jay made a great show of innocence, before asking David,"There is something I would like you to help, but feel a little awkward to ask... Can... You...help me get an autograph from your father?" The crowd immediately roared with laughter.

David promised that on the concert day itself (28th Sept), which also happened to be David's dad's birthday, he will bring his dad's autograph to the concert. And on that day, David planned to depel any rumours that they cannot stand each other, and will have a sparring match where each will sing the other's songs. The songs will be arranged with a theme in mind.

Jay Chou appearing in David Tao's celebratory dinner

The two princes of music, David Tao and Jay Chou, finally meet! Jay Chou appeared without notice in David Tao's celebratory dinner, and sincerely presented him with an electric guitar and a card, inviting him to be his special guest for his concert, and David readily agreed.

Ever since David's new album 'BLACK TANGERINE' come up in the market, the two had always been pushed together, and many comparisons made. Thie resulted in a great deal of anticipation and expectation on this meeting. The two companies had arranged for the two of them to meet privately, in the dead of the night, two days ago. When David described the meeting, he said,"People around us were more anxious than us, as if they were afraid we would start fighting at the drop of a hat" David descibed Jay to be a man of few words, and left all the asking to him (David). They also discussed their works, and the music they liked.

David feels that he uses his music to convey some ideas, but Jay like to use his music to try out new styles, both differing in music inclination, but are united by their common passion for music. Now that they have met everyone's expectation, and dispel the myth that 'rivals don't meet', and made contact, David feels a sense of relief,"We do not want to be used as a tabloid headliner, and we don't fight physically. Now, we would see if we can collaborate and create new music."

As Jay had been looking forward to having David as his special guest, so he did not only appear personally at the celebratory dinner, he also brought along a white electric guitar as a gift, and a card with a personal penned note as a sincere invitation.

In the card, he had called David as 'buddy' and drew himself as a superman, flying out from a chess game to his celebratory dinner. They both insisted that they do not want to be treated like a chess pawn in the game of marketing, and manipulated by the marketing companies. In reply to Jay's enthusiatic invitation, David agreed immediately. Although they have not discuss on what they are going to do on the stage, but he promised, 'it will be a surprise for everyone.'[/b:a

During their meeting, Jay, rather embrassed, had asked David for his dad's a

utograph. Actually, David's dad, Tao Da Yu, was Jay's childhood idol, and this gives another common ground among the two artistes, as they shared the same idol, David's dad.

With regards to his former girlfriend, Melody, entering the entertainment circle, and even joined in the MV for the newcomer Fan Yi Chen, david commented proudly, [b:a6bc99ae4e]"I've seen the MTV, she looked very good in it." David had also hoped to inivte her to be his female lead in his MTV for his new song "Melody".

I like the way David had said it, the people around them fearing that they are going to come to blows the minute they meet....

Jay Chou becomes tongue-tied when meeting David Tao for the first time

The two reigning R&B princes, Jay Chou and David Tao, have always been compared against each other since they broke into the market. Yesterday, during David Tao's celebratory dinner, Jay Chou made an appearance. He not only arrived bearing a gift of white electric guitart, he also presented a hand-drew cartoon invitation card, inviting him to be his special guest for his concert. on the 28th. Jay was so sincere in his invitation, that David immediately gave his word that he will be there.

Jay and David had always been witty in replies, but appeared rather awkward when they first meet. Jay become a little stuttering when talking to David, and David, maybe due to the suit he was wearing, was sweating profusely. When asked about his impression of David, Jay replied, "When his first album first came out, I was very interested, as it is very difficult for talented artiste to break into this industry."

Just after praising David, Jay immediately changed the topic, and asked him, "Can I get an autograph from your dad?" Upon hearing, the crowd erupted with laughter.

Why did Jay want David's dad's autograph? This was a childhood dream of Jay's, as he had grew up with Tao Da Yu's songs. "At that time, my family was poor, (probably can't afford a VCR) but I still use my radio to record his songs from the TV. I never knew David's dad is Tao Da Yu, I just feel that these two people are very talented, but did not know they were blood-related." Jay even revealed that he had joined a program David's dad had appeared on, and had raised his hand in the hope that he could be invited onstage, but 'he invited my friend, who was sitting beside me, instead'

After hearing Jay's explanation, David nodded and said, "Okay, on the 28th, I will bring my dad's autograph with me to meet you. Coincidently, it is my dad's birthday on the same day, my dad celebrates his 60th birthday on the 28th." Presently, Tao Da Yu had migrated to Shanghai, involved with children's music, and had not plans to return to Taiwan in the near future.

After Jay presented David with the electric guitar, and left, David read the hand-written invitation card. He smiled and said,"He had written some interesting things, and even drew the cartoons. He is talented." In the card, Jay had stated to his 'buddy' that by joining him in his concert, David is "Marriage of the two different genre of music. By doing this, they would have jumped out of the chess-match staged by others. Since they had long been used like pawns in a chess-match, it is time they switch roles, and do something different with their music."

With regards to what they would do on the stage, David replied,"On the internet, w
e have always been described

to be arch enemies. So we think it would be interesting to spar using music. Jay and I, will have a performance with a storyline, to show the solidarity between musicians. As for what we would actually be doing, we are still in the process of planning."

David's 'BLACK TANGERINE' album had very good sales,

also proved David's theory that "Good music is never lonely" In the past two years, while David was in the process of producing his album, he had many friends who called him, and told him,"You take so long to produce an album, wouldn't you fear Jay Chou overtaking you?"

David feels that Jay and him have totally different backgroud, and have different life experiences. He admires Jay's style of expressing "cool", "flashy" and "refreshing" as themes in his music. David feel that he will go far in his music expression.

at least you guys have a chance of him coming to singapore, the chances jay would visit the states is pretty unlikely :(

and even if he did, he would probably go to LA or Vegas and thats too far from where i am. coincidently i think amei cheung is coming to vegas this month, i didn't think she was that popular.

the haversack? is that what you guys call a backpack? i was just wondering cuz i've never heard that term before.
