I'm trying to record songs with Adobe Audition, does anyone use it? When I try to open a music file, it says the file is not availabe or is not supported...I don't know why this is because when i open another music file of the same type, it works. And also, for the ones that work, when I press record the song doesn't come on...blehh its so weird to use.

You wanna be more specific here? =P

Please list names and file formats of the files that work and don't work.

Well I'm trying to open the file so I can cut the vocals from the song, then I'll record it =) When I right click the file and go to Properties, it says the file type is MPEG I Layer 3 file...all my songs are this type but some can open and some cant =/

I haven't used this application before, but try running it through iTunes, get it converted and try again. It may have the same extension but the file could be encoded another way.

iTunes is the worst program in the world.

What error message do you get?

The file _________.mp3 is either not available, or not supported. For some reason I moved one of my songs to another folder, and then it started working, but this only worked for two of my songs, the majority still don't work.(by work i mean not being able to open them in Adobe Audition/Goldwave)

Now, why would you say that? Are you another anti-Apple?
Grow up. What, do you use wmp or winamp? I don't think it's nice to go app bashing, it's your opinion, but it doesn't mean that it sucks. Is that an example to set for newer forum members?

Hmm, try copying the file and pasting it in another folder. You probably have an application that has that manages that file..

iTunes is the worst media player ever, simply because of the import/export features; rather, lack of the import/export features. Really, the only reason to use it is the networking if you're on a big LAN.

I use Winamp. It takes much less RAM and supports plugins.

If you really MUST follow the iTunes fad, at least get one of the hacked versions that allows for full-featured import/export.

Oh, and silly, I'm not here to set an example for anyone :O
I'm here to show you people how not to behave, hoho.

PingPong, my best guess is that you need to rename the files to not include non-English characters. Windows and other programs tend to have problems reading non-English.

Ahhh It worked =) It seemed that Adobe Audition/Cool Edit couldn't read chinese characters...I even had to change the folder name to "Jay Chou" instead of his Chinese name =// Thanks so much to everyone for helping me :-)

Not to go far off topic here, but what in the world are you talking about? You can easily import/export all your music. I do it all the time with my unsupported Playstation Portable system. Which I can easily drag-and-drop my music into from the iTunes window. You just need to learn how to work it.

I remember the days of Winamp.. the plugins aren't very impressive and are quite.. useless.

So before you start bashing applications with one line comments. Get a better reason to, then just keep it to yourself, please?

PingPong700: Congrats ^_^
It's true.. lots of applications don't support Chinese, happened to me with.. ahh that's why Goldwave didn't work! lol I tried it once.

So uh, what can iTunes do that other players can't do better?
Can you export music from your iPOD using iTunes? (nope)

Plugins aren't very impressive?
You know, there's an entire community that makes plugins.

Community supported software tends to be better than corporate software; general rule of software development.
