Literally, I'm from Virginia, but ya...we moved over to the other side.

aznjayhunter: you are from Fairfax, VA? That's not absolutely from where I live, in Springfield.
Yea, there aren't many Chinese people around our area in VA. My parents should've moved us to CA like they planned to years ago.

.sweetT.: do u happen to kno if there are any kareoke facilities that have chinese songs?
yes indeed..lol. but the ones that I know of are in Annandale, VA. As of right now, I know 2 places
1. Cafe Muse
2. I forgot the name of this one..let me ask my brother.
But both are owned by Koreans..I believe there are more its just I don't know.

Sweet: thanx...how is the price and the facility? reasonable, I hope??? cuz I'm obssesed with karaoke... ya, a little full of myself here, but that is a natural thing, right? haha jk so did you ask ur brother?
Hehe....also, what school do you go to? I'm a proud Chantilly Charger!

The price of the first one I mentioned is a bit more expensive than the second place..but it depends how long..I never pay so I don't know the exact amount they charge per hour. sorry. Cafe Muse has a lot of new songs..like it already has November's Chopin songs. I will try to find out the addresses of the places later..I haven't had a chance to talk to my brother yet. ..no problem..I actually sing karaoke a lot too..but I do most of it at home.
Chantilly? cool. I know that place..well the name, I've never been there yet. I go to Lee in Springfield..Robert E. Lee. One of my sister's friends has a friend who is an assistant coach at Chantilly.

One of my sister's friends has a friend who is an assistant coach at Chantilly.
Haha...wow, that is quite a long chain to keep up with! Oh thank you so much for doing everything! I'm really looking forward to going there someday...but i am so damn busy during the school year...probably have to wait until spring break...but then i'll have to prepare for the AP exams...so maybe summer...ugh!!!! why do teachers have to torture us this way?
.sweetT.
02-12-2006, 07:18 AM
so Chantilly has AP ? Well, Lee has IB..and I'm only taking one IB class this year which is IB Topics of the 20th Century aka IB History II. Therefore, I would only have one IB exam this year..then with senior exemptions, of having an A or B+ average in a certain class, I don't have to take any finals at the end of this year.
Livlife2_fullest
02-12-2006, 07:23 AM
no finals for us either! ap/ib are too challenging and overbearing as they are...although our teachers are cold-blooded, they are not that cruel to us. I just hope that i will get a 4-5 on ap language, us history, and statistics...then I'll get a head start in college!
.sweetT.
02-12-2006, 07:40 AM
Good luck on your exams! I really hope I can get at least a 4 on mines also..sigh..So have you been accepted to any of the colleges you have applied for yet? My parents will not let me go far from home, so I think I will end up going to either George Washington University or George Mason University..I'm still deciding whether I really want to enter the med field or not..decisions decisions..sigh..

thanx sweet! good luck to you too! I haven't applied to any colleges yet...well...my application process is not until next year...so you are determined to go to a school close home? well...the colleges I'm aiming for are: Stanford, Columbia, Univ. of Penn., Berkeley maybe, Georgetown (this one is close!), if not...UVA
o ya, i'm still in a quandary about what i want to study...but as for right now, it is economics
have you done the SAT yet? I'm so worried about that...I'm going to start my prep course at hightop edu in march.

Oh, so you are a junior? Lol..I thought you were a senior..o yea thats right you just turned 17..I'm going to be 18 this may. I would love to go to Georgetown but I got lazy so I only took SAT I..SAT II scores are required for Georgetown. UVA is just too far from Springfield.
SAT? I should've prepared a little earlier because I still didn't do too well after taking this prep course two months before taking it.

I work during school hours..the first block of every other day. It's useful for me since I am currently in the process of applying for a summer job at Dept. of Defense, where my sister also works...so I'm hoping that I'll get in. This summer job offers good salary and all I have to do is mostly office work.

Well, I'm not sure yet but it's not simple as office assistant. However, the work load will depend on who I will be working for. I think you should search online for government job openings from Dept. of Commerce, Dept. of State or any that is open for hs/college students. I only know of this one from D of D but the closing date was three weeks ago. If you don't like working with the computer and boring filing work, you can look for other summer openings. My best friend once worked for some govt daycare center and she paid really well (at least 13 bucks an hour)..you should try and search carefully.

You never know so just try to. I mean, if you just want some experience then I'm pretty sure they will give you a chance. It also depends on who will be applying. My best friend's first job was the summer intern..well I guess it was because her sister-in-law is a teacher there..but just try!

livlife2_fullest: I found out part of the address of that Karaoke place. It's on Columbia Pike in Annandale. I've asked my brother about it but that's all he told me. It's near the bolling place.
You gals know what? Maybe we should meet up or something during break/holidays or whenever..well if you two want to. It's just three of use..and maybe some more people? We are so lonely..lol.

I'm just a bit worried because you gals might not have rides..o well we'll figure something out. Dang, I feel a bit old talking like this.
Have you gals been to eat out lately? I just went with my so called brother, and my sister to the restaurant at Falls Church called Peking Inn Gourmet. The Peking duck there is great! Have you gals been to Falls Church or the Chinese/Vietnamese shopping center called Eden before?

O yea which reminds me, Jenny, that Cafe Muse/Karaoke place, is located on Columbia Pike. It's in the same center as the Korean department store "Seoul" and the Pho place "Pho Hot."
Ting Ting sounds so cute!! Jenny, I have a friend name Jennifer. Jennifer is a pretty common first name. Tina is actually a name some of my sister's friends call me. I have another name which is in Vietnamese--Thi..it's actually pronounced "T". My friends like calling me T they say it sounds cuter and faster to say.

I've made to one of the colleges I applied to. I only applied to GMU, which I am admitted to, and GWU. GWU's letter should be coming anytime soon this month. I'm a bit nervous.

Oh my! Cafe Muse is in that area? Well, we've probably driven pass that place like a thousand times and failed to notice it...hehe
Woah, you have a Vietnamese name too?!?!? That is SO COOL!!!! As for Jenny, i kind of gave myself that name when my family and i came to the u.s...i also gave the name susan to my sister! actually, i've given an english name to pretty much every family member! lol. it's quite a humorous story of how we got to the names. the summer we came...we went to disney world... and we were in line for this E.T. ride. and you know how they ask for your names? i was a bit concerned that the americans would have a tremendously difficult time in pronouncing our chinese names...so at that moment, i just thought of the english names i knew...and "handed them out" haha. these names were the only ones i knew since they were used frequently in my english book in china...and ever since then, we've stuck to these names...interesting, eh? lol
Congratulations for being accepted to GMU! you must be quite relieved to see an acceptance letter from one of the colleges you've applied to...aww, ya, you must be anxious about the one from GWU! it must be so dreadful! oh, don't worry so much about it!

Yea..both of my parents are part Chinese and Vietnamese. However, they don't understand any Chinese.

oh! SPRING BREAK!!!! lol, i'm going to rejoice when this month ends! this month is so filled with activities and assignments that i can't even see through to april when spring break begins! well...i already know mr. demek, my us history teacher has already planned every assignment through the break in order to "take full advantage of the time". we are going to have like 2 take home tests! And then i'll have to prepare for ap tests and SAT too...but i also want to squeeze a couple of college visits in too if i can manage :glug:

Jenny,
I'm actually born in Vietnam. I came to Guam when I was 1.5 years old. My parents are Vietnamese but they have Chinese blood in them too. That makes me mixed. Since they lived in VN for so long, they never really knew Chinese.
That just made my day..you said I look like Taiwanese? lol. some people think I look really mixed with some Korean or something. That reminds me of one time when I went into Dunkin Dounts. The owners are Korean and the husband kept on looking at me ever since I walked into the store. Then he came up to me and asked "You're Korean right?" And guess what? The wife gave me four more donuts. I thought that was really funny.
i already know mr. demek, my us history teacher has already planned every assignment through the break in order to "take full advantage of the time".
Really? aww. he's not nice. Actually I think my history teacher would give me tons of reading and notes taking to do. It's really boring but I gotta keep up with it.
Have you gals ever been to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC before? My best friend and I will volunteer for that event. It's on April 8. It's pretty fun. I need to do service for them since I am pres of nat'l jap honor society. My best friend is a teacher assistant for my jap teacher so she'll participate too. This will be my third time volunteering.

My favorite donut is the galzed ones - original or chocolate...or with sprinkles too. ha, that's the childish side of me. and i sometimes enjoy the rasberry filled ones too...but they get a little too heavy
yes, we've been the cherry blossom festival! aww...it's so beautiful there, i love spring cuz i don't have allegies, but my poor mommy does...lol, but the the blossoms are just too pretty to miss, so we go every year. you study Japanese? I would have to ask my friend about it first. I'll tell you tomorrow. I'm thinking about J Pop Land or Ginza Arcade. One thing I'm sure about is that we will work during the first shift from 8AM to 2PM.

Nah..I don't speak it fluently. My school doesn't have any Chinese language classes and I don't have any room left for an academy class that's why I took Japanese from freshman year until now. It's not hard because my teacher is soo easy.
My goal is to speak all the major Asian languages. I don't know how to speak or write Mandarin/Cantonese or any other dialect fluently. I'm still learning. I'm a bit weird because I like learning languages..lol

Yup the weather will be SWEEETTT. I drove to Starbucks today and got caramel frap...man with the warm weather, it tastes even better! Aren't you glad you're not going through what Jenny is? Yikes for you just a few more years and you'll be there.
Do you guys happen ot know the korean bakery called Shila Bakery? It's located next to the popeyes on little river turnpike in annandale. The cakes, breads, and almost everything in there tastes GOOD..you guys should try.

one guy used to be here, and he moved. he said.
wait a minute.....its gonna be cold later on. so sad.
i dont even know if i will be taking her classes when im her age. haha. scarred me for life. jk. probably going to be just like her. but she wil be off to college. just me alone.
i dont think i know that bakery. but prolly driven past it.
ohohohoh!!! today, me and my mom went to that chinese supermarket (kam san) and went grocery shopping. and its in annandale also. then, we went to exxon to get some gas. and guess wat i saw?!?! CAFE MUSE! i was like HEY! ITS HERE! RIGHT ACROSS FROM KAM SAN! amazing.

03-13-2006, 03:32 AM
Susan, It's good that you saw Cafe Muse. It's okay if never noticed it before because I never notice too many places in VA anyways. Speaking about Kam San, I don't think I've been there before...lol maybe I did.
It's supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow? I really hope it stays warm but I doubt it will. I remember every year around April, it's still cold, especially in the morning.
I went shopping with my sister at Potomic Mills today then we went to eat ice cream at Cold Stone. Gosh..I love the ice cream there. It feels a little weird driving after staying home sick for a whole week. I'm really not looking forward to school tomorrow.

kam san is right across from cafe muse lol.
i really hope thers gonna be a thunderstorm tonight! i love it. im so excited. *goes off to check weather.com*
i love cold stone! we go to the fair oaks mall one. which flavor did u get?
my algebra teacher always looks forward to holidays. she has a sign that says "please snow, im a teacher" and shes counting how many MONDAYS til spring break. it sounds better that way. and i think its 3 or 4 mondays.
.sweetT.
03-14-2006, 03:03 AM
I would have to drive around Annandale more and actually notice where places are located...haha. That goes for other areas too. I only drive because I take my friends around, like when they don't have a ride home after they spend extra hours after school...or when we go out on the weekends. Otherwise, my sister, bros, and her friends drive. Can you believe that I went the wrong way on route 7 as I was supposed to go the other way to get to Tysons. Well, I don't really use the highway unless my friends are there to direct me..haha.
Cold Stone? My favorite is Coffee Lovers Only. Speaking about coffee, I just had some on Saturday and man I really regret doing that because five hours later, I couldn't sleep at all until almost 2am. My body is pretty weird because I had coffee around 5pm. Ice cream doesn't effect me was much though. I go to the one across AMC 22 theater.
I'm doing the large work load that I've missed and it's hot in my room. I think I should move downstairs a little bit.

dont worry, i could never remember the directions to anywhere. once i couldnt even remember how to go to my school. call me a retard.
coffee.....i dont drink so much. haha. ever since in 4th grade when someone told me that drinking coffee at a young age would make you stop growing, i've been pretty paranoid. but having it once in a while wouldnt hurt. ugh maybe thats why im still shorter than my sister.
YEAH I KNO! ITS SO HOT IN MY ROOM! this morning, i woke up sweating. im dead serious. gawd its so hot. but i'd rather be hot than be freezing cold in winter. i could never get outta bed when its cold in the morning. especially when its 6AM and dark outside.

man i feel so left out here! I haven't made a serious post since...i dont' remember. Anyways, Tina, my friend and I are going to volunteer at the Ginza Arcade too on April 8th...the morning shift hopefully. I don't know, it's not definite yet since the person said the moderator will call us next week. Ya, I'm so excited, I hope the weather will be nice!
Oh tortorous life! I'm all booked this weekend. I have behind the wheel lesson today and tomorrow and like FOUR tests to prepare for, one essay, three chapters to read for ap. us history, and two chapters to read in Thoreau's Walden!!! Oh gosh...I think by the end of the weekend, I would have done so much that my head might fall off from spinning. ya, i better get back to reading Veblen's Conspicuous COnsumption ...which makes no sense to me thus far whastoever. Screw economics! Ya...talk to you all later!

Hey Jenny! It's alright. I know you are busy with heaps of hw to do. I am too! I have so much to make up for. One whole week of make up work is dreadful! We should really get together over Spring break though. Maybe we can do something besides spending half of our day at the festival. I really can't wait either. Well, I faxed two of my forms about 1.5 week ago. I just hope it isn't too late because I remember the first year I signed up for Ginza Arcade, they assigned us Arts & Crafts instead. Well, it wasn't bad doing that either because we basically only helped out for only 2 hours and spent the rest of time shopping and eating around. I'm glad they took out survey taking this year because it's not fun at all. You would have to deal with rude and heartless people who just ignore you. However there's one thing I'm worried about Ginza Arcade. I hope we won't be stuck under one tent the whole time because my other friend did something like that and I didn't hear about it until now.
I just went out to Neisha Thai at Tysons to eat dinner with my best friend yesterday. Yummy!! I love Thai food. We were supposed to go to mini golf with our other friends but didn't time since we had to return home at a certain time.
I have two weeks to finish my 15-hr internship at some medical clinic or hospital so I would be very very busy the coming two weeks. Today, I am stuck at home babysitting arghhh. I was supposed to participate in this community service project in Junior Civitans Club but I can't. We even planned to doing something fun afterwards too but it's not an option for me anymore.

ahhhh! we went to that place not long ago. the food there is really good, but the curry chicken wasnt the best curry i've ever had . i think its a little bit too sweet. but thats just me. my mom, my sister and i all LOVE pad thai. its so good cuz it has the peanut sauce in it.
speaking of thai food, have you been to Sakruna? *or something like that. i dont think i spelled it right* its another thai restaurant and its really good. its in fairfax though. the interior design is a little bit wacko  cuz its like purple and blue and pink and it makes it look like an 80's bar or something. but watever, the food is good. and i love tom yum soup btw.
livlife2_fullest: yeah i noticed that you were left out of our conversation  im sorry for you 2 cuz you hav so much hw to do. i'll do the dishes for you .

Yea..I've been to Sakuntra (I'm sure it's pronounced this way but I doubt the spelling is right) too! I would go as far as I could for good food. You should try the fried flounder fish, roasted duck, calamari, tom yum soup..haha so many I can't name them all. For Thai food, I've been to Thai Square, Bangkok 54, Sakuntra, this restaurant located in Pentagon Roll (near Pentagon Mall, it used to have an ice skating ring there too), one in MD, and two more but I forgot.
Speaking of food, that reminds me of Boba...well yea even if its a drink. Have you two been to Ten Ren in Maryland? I think they have one of the best boba drinks around VA-MD area. I always get the Mango-tea boba.

 sorry my fellow VA gals. I really need to finish up some loads of stuff this week. I will be able to finish my internship by this Thursday. So far, It's REALLY fun. I hope the next four days will be like that too..well excluding school hours of course. I feel very tired everyday but ironic as it might seem, I've gained 4 lbs. It's not much of a difference because I look the same. Looking forward to Sakura Matsuri Festival this Saturday.

04-10-2006, 04:15 PM
Hey Jenny, Susan, and Stephanie if you're there.
It's been a crazy week for me but I really enjoyed it. Jenny, was Sakura Matsuri really that fun for you? This was my third time volunteering for this festival and both my friend and I thought it was horrible. We helped out at this tent just for 2 hours and the lady told us to leave. lol. So the whole time we just walked around. You were at Masturi Market?? I passed by that tent. It was the one with the boys dressed in Kimonos right? I didn't really look so didn't see you. There weren't as many people as the other years. We left early around 12:30 after we ate. That reminds me of something. Howcome there are so many other Asians besides Japanese people selling food? If its a Japanese festival, there should be Japanese food. I don't have any pictures to share because we looked pretty crappy in the rain. lol.

Tina!!! I tried earnestly to look for you there on Saturday...but there were too many short people...haha. Where did you help out at? What, the lady told you guys to LEAVE?@?!?!?!?!? haha...ya, indeed we were at the one with the four boys...all of us had kimonos...when did you come around? us girls were probably in the back seeling t-shirts haha. We had SO MUCH FUN and we really want to go again next year! I know...the weather sucked big time! by the end of our work shift...our shoes were wet...including our sockes too...and the bottom of our jeans...it was cold and damp. And the tent was shaky too...very scary, we thought it would collapse on us any minute with so much rain accumulating on the roof and also the racks that we had to attach to the back of the tent?!?!?! i don't know...but whenever the wind blew...the water on the roof would come down on our customers and get our t-shirts wet...so it was pretty dangerous/funny...haha

I helped out at this tent near CVS. It was right next to the tent we volunteers signed in...at the same direction as the 97.1 stage. I'm glad you enjoyed it. My friend and I will return every year but we wouldn't volunteer since we will be pretty busy in college. I past by your tent but I didn't notice that you were there too. I heard the boys said "Want some snacks?" to us and that was it. I didn't know...now I feel so bad.
So what are you gals doing this week?

Tina...ya the boys kept on saying that phrase over and over again...our 'boss' taught them a few lines in Japanese...but they gave up pretty soon first b/c they couldn't quite pronounce it right...and second no one else understood and only gave them wierd looks...so they just yelled something out in korean, vietnamese, or chinese...or whatever other language they spoke...one guy even did a strip tease sort of dance to attempt to allure customers...it was pretty pathetic. Haha

AAHHH..One week isn't enough. I better get all of my hw done. I started doing some yesterday but I ended up doing something else with my sister. I was supposed to go to PA with my best friend but my dad is really strict about me going somewhere alone without my sister. I found out earlier this week that Jolin's concert in the East Coast is..well it was yesterday in Atlantic City, NJ. I always check this one website that updates all Chinese concerts but it didn't have this concert listed this time. Did you guys know about it? I guess only people in NY knows. I really wanted to go but too bad.
I really want to get some bubble tea from Ten Ren but I can't today.

Susan, the concert was on Saturday..1AM. I didn't know about it early enough or else I would definately go. I want to know how she looks in real life and how she performs live.
Zhang Xi Yi is coming to Washington DC tomorrow Monday, April 17 for a press conference, viewing of The House of Flying Daggers and she might appear in some other events for this week's film festival. My brother is going to see her. lol. I don't know how he will stalk her because only reporters and members who are invited can enter for the conference and movie viewing.

well, this week went by so freakin' fast!!!! ugh...going to the a.p. us history review sessions every night from tuesday through thursday from 4-8pm wasn't very exciting...so tiring!!!! haha, just sneaking onto jay-chou.net before i go to bed...so tired! sigh...the weekend is just around the corner... but i think i might make myself go to that practice a.p. us history test on saturday though...ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! a.p.'s are in a week!!!!!! along with the sat subject tests...i can't wait until they are all over!

My brother didn't go ..gosh. I actually gathered information about the events that day. I didn't go to DC of course. lol only if Takeshi or someone else was there.
This week did go by really fast. I have to do college paper work and it's not fun at all. I also have IB study sessions to attend.
