Part 1 has reached 500 posts and here a thread to continue our discussion on Kimutaku, Japanese and Taiwanese F4 and Japanese dramas.

Yue Anne: That's ok. We can love the man but that doesn't mean we have to watch every single one of his works to qualify as a KimuTaku lover. More like his charismatic level is upped a notch just by wow-ing audiences off by a few shows. I haven't watch much of his newer dramas too cos I don't particularly like them a lot.

cookie: Yeah, I agree that KimuTaku's newer dramas aren't the same as the older ones. Maybe due to his older age? I caught Pride and Good Luck but I didn't enjoy them as much as Long Vacation and Love Generation. No idea why. Hmmm since you recommend Engine, maybe I should go try it soon.

Anyway, Happy New Year!

Where's pam and jiji? Scared off by our excessive KimuTaku talk?

ankh - You've watched Love Generation too?! :D Nice huh, this drama made me kinda made and impatient actually, they were dragging a little too much. At the ending, I was so worried that Kimutaku didn't make it to meet the girl up in the snow mountain >.<
Did you watch Beautiful Life too?
Pride was actually kinda good, he looks so cool when he's in the rink
I didn't really like Good Luck too. ;)

Hideaki is a singer riight? :? Or actor? I find him really really cute, with the baby looks

Haha, Kimutaku is super duper extremely hot! His hair a little curls at the end that makes him even hotter.
In the drama, Pride. His hair is straight and short, looks totally different.

*passes a bucket to Anne*
I didn't watch 2046, was the show nice? The show is like 'In The Mood For
Love' right?

Pam - Now we're in part2! :D I thought no one would come in here. But pheww.. :)

hallo everyone...
I am just so lost in everything... :bleah:
haha.. I just returned from Japan and in my opinion, I think the Taiwan version of Meteor Garden is better, though i only watched the last episode...

About Tacky, I remembered seeing a new drama of him in Japan.. I think it is a period drama, probably set in the Kamakurai Period... Can someone please tell me about it?

Thanks a lot!

Pam - I became Moonie already? Yeah, he was so cuute when he's with the fat boy who always eats mayonaise. The 'look' that they stared at each other, so kawaii! >.<
Ah, Pride is about ice hockey. This is the sypnosis taken from jdorama.com ;)

Kimura is the captain and star player of an ice hockey team, who is greatly respected by his teammates. For him, hockey is serious business that fully occupies his mind, while he treats romance as if it were a game.

Yuko is a typical businesswoman, and is waiting for her boyfriend to return from studying architecture abroad. At this point in time however, he shows no sign of coming back. One day, Yuko's friends who are determined to find her a new boyfriend, invite her to watch an ice hockey game. There she sees Kimura for the first time.

After the game, Yuko and her friends join the players for a party celebrating their victory. Yuko, however, is not so excited to be there. When she leaves the party, she bumps into Kimura, who was slightly injured from a fight. They exchange e-mail addresses and part.

The sparks of mutual attraction are ignited in a second encounter between Yuko and Kimura, arranged with the help of her friends shortly after a party.

Sato has come as a replacement for the team's coach who has been hospitalized. Kimura has a lot of respect for the hospitalized coach. Unfortunately though, he can't stand Sato's way of doing things. Bringing with him a lot of coaching experience from overseas, Sato criticizes the former coach's strategies. Whenever Kimura and Sato see each other, they get into a quarrel—consequently influencing Kimura's behavior during games.

Seeing that his game ended in a brawl, Yuko visits Kimura to comfort him. But he tells her that she is being too friendly with him.

Yuko is hurt, Kimura is irritated, and his teammate Sakaguchi can't stand seeing Kimura like this...
Great drama, should definitely watch it! ;)

Tomoya Nagase, not bad looking too huh

Hes an actor from the drama Dragon Zakura! His name is Yamashita Tomohisa
山下智久!

cookie Awesome your studying the piano too! I've been playing for 6 years now..but it sounds like..1 year  I can read notes well, but I find that I play only by ear which drives me teacher crazy. What I mean is for example she would play the piece she wants me to learn and then I will try to imitate her rather then read the notes for myself  Its a bad habit to get into so practice hard and I am sure you will become a very good player :D

cookielmy
01-10-2006, 05:14 AM
Anne - Haha, when I get to master that song, I'll let you know. Maybe in the next 5 or 6 years time ;)

Harmony - You're learning piano too? For 6 years already? Sugoi!!
Haha, imitating huh  Do you have any ideas how I can memorise my notes? I still can't make my notes right sometimes, C,D,E,F,G,A,B

Yamashita Tomohisa? *off I go to google*

He was soooo cool!!!! the performance was super cool!!! he's changed his costume very often... The first arrival(?) is from the up, he was crucified(?) upon a cross and came down from the top....and the music was ahhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh!! the 以父之名!!

Oh....I was screaming like hell...so there was kind of the space around me...(ppl around me scared of me???) and some high school girls talked to me since my eyes were like  lovelovelove...and one of the girls said..."are you ok? your eyes are totall in heart shape" lol lol lol....

Pls take a look at these pics I've taken...but sorry these are not good...but better than nothing...

日本語はとてもおもしろいです。 ^_^

i think 日本語 is 難しい。 i always *dreaded* doing my japanese hw. that's why i decided to change my major from japanese language to another major.

aik 'sugoi' means cool? i think sugoi can mean cool (but just don't use it to describe someone as cool [cool as in handsome] because the listeners are going to look at you weird or not going to understand you). i also think sugoi can mean "wow" like when someone does a difficult swimming dive perfectly and you're like "sugoi." i think you use sugoi when you're impressed with someone's performance. i don't know...correct me if i'm wrong. >_<

Strawberry (Ichigo fairy) :D Welcome to this thread, I know japanese is difficult but not the most difficult language in the world so you should try harder to complete it. And about word "Sugoi" I did agree with you ! it's more like a interjection wow, wonderful, super, etc.

Just wondering, is there a forum for Jay in Japan? ^.^

Cos if there is, I am sure many of the Japanese fans would record his live performance and share it in the forum (like most of the jcnet-ers did after we watched the incomparable concert)

Hi..I don't think there's a particular hot topic. We were discussing about how we would love to hear Jay sing in Japanese and we were hoping that someone who went to the Tokyo concert, manage to record the performance..hehe..

Btw Jay, during the encore session, sang 2 Japanese rhymes, “Monotaro (Tao Tai Lang)” and “Grandpa’s big clock ( I suspect that it is Ken Hirai’s Grandfather’s clock)”

argh :-x i just typed up the translation to the narutomo program and it somehow got deleted!

here's the translation to the japanese program that was discussing jay chou.

jay chou and his charisma

the 2 hosts say something about F4 and that more and more chinese stars are becoming known in japan. they then introduced jay chou to the panelists. they said his birthday, where he's from, how much money he made at the age of 25 (when the panelists heard this, they were amazed), how he suddenly became an asian star, when he debuted, and how he's number 1. one of the hosts says that japan is a little late in getting to know jay chou. the guy with the black suit and wearing a tie comments that earning that much is super amazing and one of the host agrees. the female panelist with the red hair says that she knows who F4 are. then the 2 hosts say that jay chou is even more popular than F4. they also said that there is a conversation/discussion about jay chou and F4 are going to do a commerical together, but it's not confirmed. the program then shows a clip of jay chou. the clip says that F4 is not the only one leading the something (i couldn't catch the word) boom but also jay chou. then the female speaker of the clip says how many CDs jay chou sold since his debut, how much money he made at the age of 25, and how he's number one in taiwan. then she says jay chou's talent not only stops at music but he's also talented in acting. then she says that jay chou is the main actor in the movie inital D, which is based on the popular comic in Japan that sold over 40,000,000 copies. she also says that this movie is his acting debut. then she says when jay chou came to japan more than 1,000 fans were waiting for him at the airport and a large gathering of the media shows the popularity of china. she then says that at his first concert in japan, jay chou attracted 10,000 fans for his 2-day concert. then she says that jay chou gave a message to the narutomo program. jay chou says "to the ppl of narutomo. konnichiwa (good afternoon). i'm jay chou." then he begins his message in chinese with japanese subtitles at the bottom of the screen. he says, "please check out my movies and my music. he wants to make time and go to japan to interact with fans." then she concludes the clip by saying that "we cannot take our eyes off of the chinese star jay chou." [that's the literal translation. i know what she's saying but i can't find the right words to express them]. then one of the hosts says that jay chou is amazing and she continues to talk. she says something about a korean star named pikku-san (???? i couldn't catch the name) and the chinese star jay chou both have their own allure/appeal/charm/magnetism. then the guy panelist with the black suit and wearing a tie says something about plastic surgery and eyes. then one of the hosts says that jay chou (i think she was referring to jay chou. if not, then pikku-san.) has small eyes but he is still cool looking. then the other host says that F4 has more female fans and jay chou has more male fans. then the other host says that jay chou also has fans who are housewives that are in their 30s and 40s. then one of the panelists comments that the male fans admire jay chou and wants to be like him. the hosts agree with the panelist's comment. then the ppl on the show was telling shingo (the guy with the black suit and wearing a tie) to go over there [i think they mean china, but i'm not sure.]. one of the hosts said that shingo may find out that he may be good at dancing and singing. shingo then says that plastic surgery can do anything. then one of the hosts says that jay chou wants to visit kyoto, but he appears that he has no free time to do so.

*** i didn't translate some parts because i didn't understand what they were saying. i'm sorry. (T_T)

so if it's bi... then what is the "~kku" for?

ichigo fairy

^ hmmm, maybe "bikku" is rain's nickname in japan? they call bae yong jun (sp?) as yonsama in japan. sakai noriko's (a japanese actress and singer) nickname is noripi.

[edit] maybe rain reminded them of pikkachuu and that character always says "pika pika" so they decided to name him bikku. hehe^^ LOL ^-^ i don't know....x_x

I think he's called bikku because his name in korean is bi, and they tend to add endings to people's names as you said with noripi & yonsama

Pi and Bi character in hiragana n also katakana are from the same character. it's HI. there are 2 added particle to make it into PI and BI. we use maru (a small circle at the right side at the top beside the HI character to make it BI. and use " to make it PI. :P
got it? sorry for the bad lesson from me :shy:

and maybe the -kku from bikku is come from KUN. bi+kun= BIKKU :P

Yukiko, you're correct. But is suppse to be Bi instead of Pi right. Maybe there was a mistake at the strokes?

By the way, the circle thing to change hi to pi is called maru?

yukiko

Yeah. the fullstop in japanese is called MARU. :p
maybe they make it PI to make it sounded more cute. :p it's different. hahaha. try it. say BI then say PI. PI make it sounded more cute. :) hahaha

Hi everyone.

Haven't posted in this thread since page one I think.

And yay I'm taking Japanese in school right now and enjoying every moment of it. Demo nihongo wa totemo taihen desu ne. <<< Please correct me if it's wrong.

How do you guys practise and remember all the vocabulary?
My memory's extremely short-term so I always end up forgetting majority of the vocabulary I've learnt for the week.
My friend tells me that watching raw dramas, animes and listening to J-pop can help in listening and familarising with the sentence structure.
Does that work for any of you, if you've tried?

And yes, particles are soooo hard.
I'm always very paranoid that I'll use the wrong one so I tend to emphasize them when I read. And my sensei says the Japanese will laugh if they hear me speak like that.

Showing you the cutted katakana chart : http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a362/mapong/kata.jpg

And Moonie all the circle thing called "maru" and those two line called "tenten"

It's March :bounce: Anyone got the JLPT result yet ?! I'm not but hope it comes real soon hehe

Ankh >> It's like when you learn English, there must be the new vocab. thething you have to do is remember it. Find your own way to remember them, for me I just tried to use it more often in real life. And the stress sound, because of the same word sometime has 2 stressing sound, if you pronounce it wrong, they won't understand you

ig. 橋 hashi = bridge and hashi = chopsticks

Ok why are we discussing Goong in the Japan thread?
Dang, we're breaking forum rules. *hides*

Let me try to salvage this...
Oh ya, you're into Johnny's Ent right? You know of a group called NEWS?
My friend luurves them to bits and she was so sad when the news came out that they're gonna disband. I don't dare to ask her anymore since she's so depressed. You know why?

cs_omigosh
03-03-2006, 06:38 PM
nah nah..I am a loyal Yullie camper..woo hoo!

Yep I know NEWS..

One of their member - Kusano was accused of under aged drinking. (there were some photos published by a magazine). But he denied it..and Johnny entertainment also backed him up. However, he was suspended to do "self-reflection".

Actually, a few months ago, another member of the group - Uchi was already caught with underage drinking and was already suspended.

So I think this led to the company deciding to suspend "NEWS" as a whole group and let them do some "self reflection". So a lot of their performances etc were cancelled. However, individual performances (acting in dramas etc) will still go on. =)

Btw, can I ask who is her favourite member in the group? I know that Yamapi, Ryo who are from NEWS would be acting in new dramas soon. =)

oh, the JLPT? is that the nihongo nouryoku shiken? level 3 is pretty easy. there's a *big* gap in the difficultly between level 3 and level 2. if you understand everyday conversation and know a decent amount of kanjis, you should be able to pass level 3. if you do *really* well on one part of the exam and do maa maa on the other parts, you should pass level 2. level 1 is a whole another story. >_< a couple of my friends passed level 1 on their first try. *totemo totemo envious* LOL ^-^;;;;; if i pass level 1, kiseki ga okotta. haha ^-^;;;;;; i heard that sometimes levels 1 and 2 are basically the same exam during certain years. i also heard that level 1 is pretty easy during certain years.

Ichigo >> yup JLPT is nihongo nouryoku shiken. And you are right there are the big gap between level 2 and 3, after that laevel 2 and 1 is pretty similar. As for me I won't say the level 1 is easy  I heard that there are some born japaneses also not be able to pass it haha

Char >> hmm.. is that you are talking about Goong here ?! lol you guys are crazy !

ankh

char: Oh that's quite sad. They don't have to suspend the entire group just because of a few black sheep. Maybe that's why my friend's so upset. Her favourite member is Tegoshi. Well YamaP and Ryo would definitely still be offered solo projects since they're so popular. They've been around since 6-7 years ago!

Thanks for answering my questions about JLPT.
Then you know what the various levels of JLPT can be helpful for? Like say if you wanna apply for a position in a Japanese company, which level would they look at?

ichigo: That's unfair! How can they have the same exams for level 1 & 2? My sensei tells me that if you passed Level 1, you can go to a daigakku in Japan.

iiyo~~ I am going to be gone all week since I have to study for a placement test for a Japanese class this summer..but I really dont think I am ready at all....Has anyone here taken Japanese 1? Does anything know what inside the course? The test says its a 2 hour placement test to test your understanding of Japanese 1 to see if ur ready to take the course (which is Japanese 2) But...I studied Japanese independently and I dont know what exactly I know since I just followed a text book....The only bummber is I failed the JLPT level 4...(My listening section was awful! I think if I fell alseep during the listening I would have gotten a higher score) Otherwise my grammer and vocabulary section wasn't so bad...

Anyway I dont really know whats been going on in this tread but to replay to a few posts

ichigo fairy
03-08-2006, 01:38 AM
HarmonyCloud um, is it okay if i also give you my opinion? um, if you want to learn japanese by listening to music, i think you should listen to japanese ballads or slower songs sung in japanese. the singers sing more slowly and pronounce the words more clearly, so you'll be able to follow along with the lyrics and understand/learn japanese better. then after you get used to listening to slower songs sung in japanese, then listen to more faster/upbeat songs in japanese.....OR have your tutor read out loud children's books that's written in japanese everyday to you and you follow along.

supplementing ankh's color lesson....you can also say nezumi iro for grey, mizu iro for blue, and momo iro for pink.

We haved talk about "octopus" in CS social lounge and one of us said :
did you know that if you were to call a Japanese person an 'octopus,' you would've insulted them badly? it's like a swear word in Japan. Anyone know about that word. And that's a forbidden word to name a person, really ?! If there's any story behind

HarmonyCloud oh, i see...you just want to get used to hearing japanese being spoken...my japanese lang. instructor was telling us that children whose parents speak fluently in japanese are good in listening skills (but not so good in the kanji area and in the writing area), b/c they always hear ppl around them speaking in japanese and parents are usually talking to them in japanese (that's why she encouraged her bilingual students and semi-bilingual students to take at least the level 2 exams for the JLPT b/c she knew that we had a good chance at passing). so i think you have the right idea of listening to japanese music to get used to hearing the language. hm, maybe your tutor can read out loud children's books that's written in japanese to you everyday and you listen? or maybe just listen to ballads sung in japanese or slower songs sung in japanese? then you'll get used to hearing japanese after a while. ^-^ does your tutor always speak to you in japanese during your guys' lessons?

ohhh, i never knew that calling a japanese person an octopus was insulting him/her. ^-^;;;;;;; i just asked my mom if that's true and she said that it means that if you call a person an octopus, you're baka ni shiteiru of that person. but she doesn't know if there's a story behind it. i learnt something knew today....yay! hehe^^v

Okay, back to answering questions..

We're talking about the octopus. And they wanted me to ask my sensei what octopus is. Because from Tes and Char, they said that octopus is a bad word and we're all unsure about it.. :D
By the way, by our Pam, octopus in Japanese is tako ^^

About Goong, is a kdrama (you know right?).. And recently has been the hottest kdrama in jcnet, as you can see all the banners and avvies everywhere. You should check it out here http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=17551

cookie: my japanese module basically consists of a 2hr lecture to teach us the new things, two 2hr tutorials for us to practise sentence structures etc and a 1hr tutorial for dialogue reciting every week.
i think petricia is currently taking the higher level one in my school if i'm not wrong.
we are forced to remember all the vocab because there's vocab quiz every week.

well... to me, they are really much more scarier... As the sentence structures built on, I just lost most of what has been thought before. Anyway, if you are planning on going all the way up to level 6, be prepare and really, work on your basics so that they become instincts... haha

Hi, long time no see you.
In Japan, the movie'Fearless' was shown from Yesterday.
But the movie company changed Jay song 'Huo yuan chia' into Japanese group!!!
We cannot listen to Jay thema song in theater.
It is ridiculous!

moonie are u still debating where to go for the youth exchange program in japan? if so, um....maybe you can go to a place that interests you. for example, if you like the kansai dialect, you can decide to go to osaka? i know some parts of japan is known for something (for example, shizuoka-ken is known for its tea), so maybe whatever osaka, narita, fukuoka, and nagoya is known for and you like whatever they are known for maybe that can also be the deciding factor to go there? um, okay, i think i just made no sense...um, for example, shizuoka-ken is known for its teas and i like teas so i *always* wanted to go there.

miemie hi hi miemie. ^-^ cute username... =)

Hi all...

Hisashiburi desu. minna genki de gozaimasuka?

@ Pam : what happen to you? Why stop learning japanese?

@ Mie Mie : both concert? wow.. you must be enjoy it. :p

Btw.... how about the JLPT result? i have no information bout it yet. and about JLPT 2, my lecture said it's hard so far than JLPT 3. JLPT 4 to JLPT 3 is not very far. but 3 to 2 is not the same. i think for people who only have learn 6 months can take JLPT 3. but to take JLPT 2 and pass it, you better learn harder. :p that's what i know

hi hi yukiko. ^-^

yeah, i agree w/ you. JLPT 2 is waaayyyyyyyy harder than JLPT 3. i was suprised at the *big* difference of difficultly between the two levels. u_u i thought JLPT 3 was *pretty* easy so i thought level 2 would also be *kinda* easy. but was i *super* wrong. >.< yup, the degree of difficultly between levels 1 and 2 are similar...level 4 is easy and level 3 is *kinda* easy.

ichigo_fairy : so you took JLPT 2 last year?? really... wow.. tell us your result. even if you failed, it's not so bad. we all know the difficulty. my friend take JLPT 2 last year, and she pretty sure she wont pass it. especially the kanji thingy, she said it's the most difficult part. but she said, the chookai (listening) is not really hard. it maybe because she ever lived in japan for about a year. her mom is japanese btw...

hi hi yukiko ^-^ i failed JLPT 2 the first time ...but i passed it the second time. ^-^;;;;; yeah, i agree w/ ur friend about the listening part being not that hard....and yeah, like ur friend, i also thought that the kanji part was hard...i thought that the reading comprehension part was also very hard. i started guessing for the kanji and the reading comprehension parts. LOL^^;;;;; i think i would have passed JLPT 2 the first time if i didn't keep on zoning out during the listening section. :shy: hahaha^^;;;;;; i concentrated and tried hard not to make my mind wonder off when i took the exam again during the listening section...

tell me if ur friend passed JLPT 2, okay? i *hope* ur friend passed it. ^-^ *crosses fingers* hehe^^;;;;;

03-31-2006, 03:56 PM
yeah yeah, i'll tell you the result. btw, there's a rumours that if this year the JLPT was easy, then it would be hard next year. easy - hard - easy - hard and so on. somebody said that. i dont know. i've only take once last year. is it true?

Thanks Yukiko. I got my first grade B for my Japanese exams so far >< I should've work harder *sniffs*

Now I'm currently in Advance level 1 and started learning about polite/humble forms and gooosh, I couldn't understand it at all.

Question: When do we use zonkeigo form and kenjougo form? I'm so confused

Moonie >> the weather wasn't that good, it was raining someday  I went there for travelling and I stayed about a week ^^ I hope that you can make the youth exchange next year, I really wish you can make it. Kambare !

Question: When do we use zonkeigo form and kenjougo form?sorry for asking, but I don't know what it's if I'm not seeing their Kanji.. seriously >.< they are all polite form right ?!

Oh Yukiko, I went to Osaka (Universal Studio Themepark) and then to Nagoya, climbed up Mt.Fuji, visited hamana lake and owakudani valley, stayed in ryokan near kawaguchi lake, and then went to Tokyo, spent the night time in shinjuku, drooling over the hottie around there lol

cookielmy
05-06-2006, 02:12 PM
Man.., Pam, your trip to Japan indeed sounds extremely super duper fun!
You even climbed the Mt.Fuji, thaat's nice. I've never been to mountain climbing before though.
Did you take any pictures with the hotties in Japan? I'm sure you had bought lotsa things there eh? ;)
By the way, how much was the air ticket? It's kinda expensive right? It'll cost a bomb for spending one whole week there ><

About the two forms I mentioned above; yes, it's polite forms but there are two different usage which I'm confused with. You know how to read kanji? You must be an expert in Japanese then.. ^^

About the two forms I mentioned above; yes, it's polite forms but there are two different usage which I'm confused with.

zonkego: it is used to refer to the person of higher status, e.g. your superior or outside group, or their actions.

kenjougo: it is used to refer to things that you do or your action, like lowering your own status.

that's about it... i guess...

Haha... Pam went to Japan?!? My God, i am so lost here. So sorry that I've been missing. School term was hell. Not to mention my Japanese classes. Though they were really demanding, it was one of the modules that i enjoyed most in my whole university life.

I am graduating and now facing the problem with looking for job. But i've already signed up for Japanese class! haha... I am so happy about it.

Anyway, I think i should self-introduced myself again.
