The year's drawing to a close, and I was wondering which album everyone thought was the absolute BEST of the year!

Please vote and comment! I chose these albums to put in the poll based on sales and comments/views in jcnet...lol and it just happens to have 3 girls, 3 groups, and 3 guys :)

note - i didn't put Jay's Nov Chopin because it would definitely be the winner. haha.

Leehom Wang – Heroes of the World

=) this album is just amazing. The chinese opera mixed with american style is really good. and ive gotten tired of the other albums. But with a first listen to this one, the songs instantly clicked.

I vote for Heroes of the World, as it's somethin new and refreshing, compared to the other ones. I found JJ and FIR's albums of 2005 a little of a let down after their previous efforts.

I voted for Leehom!
this album is a continuation of chinked-out which i kind of like. =D'
eh. i don't see Energy's FF album..

I voted for Stefanie Sun's A perfect day. I like the fact that she always makes a conscious effort to put in songs that are not just pure pop plus her songs selection are always different. Special. Like A perfect day. It's more alternative, definitely not something you would hear from the 5566s or cyndi wangs in mando-pop. Then there's Honey Honey and First day, which I really really like. First day seems to be everywhere in taiwan when I was there. Not surprising given how catchy the song is.

Plus there's something about Stefanie's voice that instantly attracts me to her. ^^

NQMM would probably come in second. Personally, I prefer NQMM no.2's music compared to the first batch. It's lighter and not so rockish. Plus their songs (i.e. Mu dan jiang) are once again, different from your typical pop tunes. And I like Lara's vocals. So there you have it. =)

Klarence:It was really smart not putting Jay's album here.he,he

I think the best album of 2005 was S.H.E's album Once upon a time!I really love this girls band!!

Hmm...I think Liang Jing Ru's Silk Road album should be included in the list. ;)

Anyway, I've chosen F.I.R's. Although I must say that JJ Lin's and NQMM's are also not bad!! ^^

01-02-2006, 02:23 AM
I voted for NQMM. Really liked the album. And btw, why isnt there XZDRY for leehom? It was the 2nd greatest album. >< Heroes of the world is the new one. Rainie did a good job too!

01-02-2006, 11:58 AM
no mayday's zhi zu? if there is it's definitely that.

I guess since Leehom's Xing Zhong De Ri Yue was released as the end of 2004, it doesn't really count for 2005. ^^" But my vote would've gone to either of Leehom's album. :-) They're both friggin' awesome.

*sigh* that was a hard choice. i was stuck between s.h.e, NQMM, and david tao. but i had to go with david because in this album, there was this certain amount of energy and power present throughout the album that has been greater than ever, so that won me over =P

but i still hafta give major props to NQMM [esp. with their two new additions to the band] for an amazing album. and as well as to s.h.e for such pretty songs (=

David Tao was great...! I had a hard time choosing between Lee Hom, JJ, and David. It would've been 4 difficult choices if Yanzi's album was good, but I was a bit dissapointed for this one.

i voted rainie coz while i dont think it was the BEST album, i was certainly surprised by how good it was, and it was one that i listened to with little or no expectations at all! the others were okay but for most of the 2nd/3rd albums, i thought that their previous albums were a lot better

I voted for S.H.E b/c their songs gives me this feeling .. a good feeling

Jolin Tsai – J Game Jolin's J-Game was pretty good, I like it alot but i thought her older albums were better.
Stefanie Sun – Wan Mei De Yi Tian - Too much slow songs aren't good o.0
Rainie Yang – Ai Mei - She did good! but i think she's better with 4 In Love... happier & more energetic
S.H.E – Bu Xiang Zhang Da - I LOVE this album, but not one of their best... but I still love it... I love ALL the songs in there, epecially Tian Hui & Super Model.
F.I.R – Unlimited - Compared to their 1st release.... this album SUCK ASS.... there's only like 3 songs that are worth listening to in this album.
Nan Quan Mama – Set No.2 - I perfer their first album... but its okay overall
David Tao – The Great Leap 2005 - His album is good, but not that cathy
Leehom Wang – Heroes of the World - leeeeeee hom! i would vote for this if SHE wasnt in here.... his album kick asss.. new flavor in music
JJ Lin – No. 89757 - it was good, but i dont like his voice that much.... but a good composer!

Hmm...I think Liang Jing Ru's Silk Road album should be included in the list. ;)

yeah, I was considering that, among other albums (will pan's, 5566, etc) but then it's sales were not that good compared with others.. and also it didnt seem popular here at jcnet bc the album wasnt discussed much and there werent that many views

same with mayday's album (plus it was a best collection album, so it's kinda unfair)

oh and leehom's XZDRY album was released last year, so i didn't put it here (it was in the 2004 album poll though) :D

It's hard to choose but in the end,I voted for JJ Lin.
I think it's best Mandarin album of the year aside from November's Chopin,of course. :shiny:
I can't believe Sun Yan Zi is at the bottom of the results.
But overall, the albums in the choices were all good,
but November's Chopin is undoubtedly great. :D

i vote for f.i.r's unlimited... love their usual style of music and the songs 'qian nian zhi lian', 'ci niao', 'ba ai fang kai' are realli great..

01-05-2006, 03:10 PM
DEFINITELY a hard choice!
but after hours of considering (not really) i'd have to say nqmm's set no.2
i couldn't stop listening to their album for at least 3 weeks straight!

I thought they were all pretty good. I was stuck between S.H.E. and Rainie's CD.. but I picked S.H.E.. wow, JJ Lin's seem to be the most popular. I liked his first CD alot.. but the next two wasn't as great, I thought

I haven't heard all the albums listed, but I chose Rainie Yang's 'Ai Mei'. I love all the tracks on the CD, and there was a good balance of ballads and more cutesy pop songs.

Besides Nov Chopin... I would vote for Rainie Yang – Ai Mei~
She sang suprisingly great in her first personal album.
I nearly like all the songs in it... at least 8 of them~

01-08-2006, 08:51 AM
I voted for Leehom's Heroes of the World! It's honestly such a good album, even better than Shangri-la, in my opinion! I was kind of disappointed with FIR's new cd, though. My expectations were set so high after their first cd, but I felt that Unlimited didnt have that special quality their first cd had that set them apart from others.

Lol, no surprise that the majority of the votes are with the male singers..after all, we're in a jay chou forum.
Same with the votes for NQMM

yeah, I'm quite surprised with the low number of votes for Sun yanzi (I didn't particularly like her album either though)...

RAINIE RAINIE RAINIE!!!!! *jumps up and down*
I've waited for a 2 whole years for her album to come out! And her album was absolutely amazing! She has an angelic voice and a super cute face. I LOVE HER (I'm not lez)

Anyways, the other albums are great too. I never listened to Stefanie, David, and JJ lin's albums though...others I love =D but my Rainie obsession just made me voted for her =)

I refuse to take this seriously if Jolin gets more votes than F.I.R.
I refuse. I refuse.

LoL, same here. I think F.I.R. is wayyyyy (x100) better than Jolin (sorry! no offence to Jolin fans, but I simply don't like her)

Rainie all the way, I love her songs.. I can play them over-and-over again..

Leehom's GSYX is the best album..I loved it as much as I love November's Chopin. These are the two that I woudn't get sick of ..maybe after weeks but man..too good!

JJ's album is next on the list..He is a really talented composer.*thumbs up*

JJ Lin has done pretty well and so has Lee Hom...
FIR is good, so for those who have not heard them...please do check them out.
But I did enjoy David Tao's new album.
Nice, thoughtful lyrics thats what counts~

Lee Hom's Heroes of the World for sure! (though it feels like a 2006 album more so than a 2005 album  )

Gai Shi Yin Xiong is one of Lee Hom's best albums ever....
I said that about Shangri-La, but GSYX is looking to top that in my book!
it's a really upbeat album, and a lot of the songs just have this "get up and groove" quality that i love.

though i gotta say that i thought JJ Lin's albums was not bad too....

eminemjamesuk
01-30-2006, 03:13 AM
It's either Jay or Pan Wei Bo's Gao Shou. I'm not exactly impartial either...lol

NanQuan Mama's is also pretty good. I saw them live last summer and they weren't shabby like most of the other artists!

Nan Quan Mama – Set No.2 would be my favorite anything close to Jay is the best. The songs are great. My second favorite is Leehom Wang – Heroes of the World. Leehom just has a touch to his music that is so additting. Leehoms albums are always good though so hard to pick who is best.

Of course Heroes of Earth.Lee Hom's chinked-out style is great and any songs from Heroes of Earth are amzing. This album is very very creative and very unique.Never seen any singer put the song sang and composed by fans into their album.Everything in this album prove how's great Lee Hom's ability and personalities.
Hereos of Earth,my most fav madarin album of year.Of course,Nov's Chopin is good too but i prefer Heroes of Earth.

Rainie Yang's album doesn't deserve to be in that poll...she can't even compared to Jolin Tsai....can't believe Jolin less 1point behind her!!but i voted Lee Hom...he absolutely deserves it!!pls not Rainie....Cyndi Wang or Angela Zhang would be much much much more BETTER!! i admit I HATE RAINIE!!

i voted for jj 89575 his songs are great in their album and i never felt bored listening to them.
jolin's album would be my 2nd choice but i like jj's composition.
considered for leehom's too but im not use to his chinked-out style.

haha. November's Chopin is still the best album of the year. but other than that, LEEHOM's Heroes of The World is definitely next. I admit, I'd be a Leehom fan if I wasn't a Jay fan. he totally deserves my respect. but anyway. S.H.E's Bu Xiang Zhang Da is decent, and Rainie's Ai Mei isn't bad either.

I felt David Tao's Great leap is really amazing! Not because it got the best pop album in the recent GMA. I felt the vocals, the music arrangement and the overall was good. Songs like Sun zi ai qing bing fa is really a breakthrough for him. He remain the David love ballads while adding in different genres such as rock, jazz and not forgetting the famous chinese style music. The Great Leap is really a good album worth collecting.

Another album would be Heroes of earth by Lee Hom Wang. The album the brings out the theme of the whole album which is Chinese style; jing ju and kun qu. He clearly brings out the spirit of 'chinked out' music. Lee hom created a new music wave in the chinese pop market. This is one album every one should watch out for. Songs like 'zai mei bian' and hua tian cuo' brings out the spirit of 'chinked out'

I mean if you are going for more teens/ youth and mainstream music, it would be Jolin Tsai's J game. This is a totally outstanding album cos everybody's singing to her songs. It's really commercial love ballads and pop songs. ' tian kong' and 'hao xiang ni' are HITO in Taiwan and outside Taiwan.

I felt the rest such as S.H.E. ' bu xiang zhang da' was a really medicore album. It never show their vocals. The music were too norm, there's not much of a breakthrough.

Ginuwine
10-25-2006, 10:16 AM
its such a hard choice it would be alot easier to have november's chopin there. but i'd choose David Tao's The Great leap 2005 a very high quality album he doesn't sound like it been produced 2 days ago. it isnt rushed

I would go with JJ's no.89757. Lee Hom's was also very good though

i chose jjlin album, but he's pretty much tied with wang li hong's album. their voices are amazingly clear and they both are just wonderful singers. jjlin has more of a ballad type feel, while wang li hong hits the pop r&b area, so it's impossible for me to choose one over the other <3 jolin's album was actually pretty good, come to think of it; i loved wu niang and pulchritude...=)
