You may download a software into the computer that allows it to read chinese characters
It may come in CD-ROM and can be downloaded in the internet.

I think you have post this thread in the wrong Forum. It should be in the help/feedback forum...

ya Im thinking I can download it somewhere too... but things like morpheus or kazaa are not a reliable source to me (too many viruses), so I was hoping someone could upload a program or know of a site that has the program for download, virus free :-)

Hi howie2005,
for simple word processing.. Like when you want to copy lyrics froma website and such, you can use NJstar Chinese Word Processor.

If you want you song names or other types of files that are in Chinese to be displayed in Chinese, you can use NJstar communicator.

Both can be found at http://www.njstar.com/

NO NO NO, you guys are going through too much trouble. ok to clear things up, it shows random letters when u have chinese characters is because chinese characters account for more than one symbol(letter) combined. You just need to install the language pack thats ALREADY ON YOUR COMPUTER.

here i'll show you how (Windows XP only, that i know of)

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Regional and Language Options>(select) Language (top)>(under Supplemetal language support) select Install files for East Asian languages>Apply>OK>now slip me $10 cash. ;-)

Woah!.... chineseguyjl.. you're the man...

Much simpler than using NJstar..
though you may have to put in your windows xp CD for it to copy files..

I tried to do it this way in the past by going to the Microsoft website and downloading the language packs... Which didn't seem to do anything at all...

great.. didn't know you could do that so simply :P

Most, almost all, of the words are still all random letters and symbols... currently I have a set on chinese(taiwan) / chinese traditional(new phonetic) / half shape... no clue wut all those wud change but thats the setting... anything I'm missin?
thanks for your input above with NJstar too, I used that program to type chinese before using "pin yin"... but it doesnt help show my computer chinese files

Except all files ripped before doing this are still in random letters... but who cares... every new file is now readable in chinese. Thanks for the help... if any1 else is having this problem, your answers are in this thread

Ok ok i can help out alot with this. there are two situations this can apply to, first of all if its in a music file, like ID tags. and you still cant see the chinese, thats because u saved them as the crazy fonts, download the file again and it should be in the language it was meant to be in. Second of all, if its a website or just surfing on the internet, and you still cant see chinese its because of your encoder settings. Translate: wrong format. like for example, click on this link here (http://www.21cn.com), if u followed my steps to install the language but stil doesnt work. try this

(still on the 21cn.com page) press View (at the top)>Encoding>chinese simplified (preferably one that has "GB" in front)

If it still doesnt work try other coders of the language.

easy easy,

1. that either means that you formated your computer without installing all the features, or you used an illegal win xp. its cool i have one too. shhh. But if your still having troubles, i can email you the files that you need from my CD.

2. make a check or credit card payable to .... nah just kidding

easy with just a few steps to read chinese from internet explorer

Step 1:Open your internet explorer..Click on "View"

Step 2:Select Encoding

Step 3:Select Unicode(UTF-8)

PS:if you cant find Unicode on the Encoding section..then from Step 2 onward..select "More"..and u shall be able to find it

Try to have frequent window update :wink2:
