how to record tv shows?

ive seen alot of people post downloads to video recordings of tv shows. the only way ive thought of it was to record it on tape, re-record it from tape to vcd, put the vcd into your comp, and upload it like that. is there a simpler way? o_0

Well, there actually is..

I think the first way is to use a video capture card (if I'm not really wrong) and you'll be able to use a PS2 connection to your PC.

If I'm not mistaken, you can also use a video card with video in/out to connect to your computer where you can use a program to save/record the files..

Then, the third way and the way that I like is to use a DVD recorder, connected to your television set, to record the shows, then you can bring it to your computer if you have a DVD-rom drive (minimum) to be uploaded.
