There are some things to be clarified, and these are quite urgent, hence requiring a separate announcement.

1) Change in Scoring for Group Bonus:
Due to the adoption, the number of members in some groups have doubled. Although first concieved to help the smaller social groups to gain more active team members, it has turned out that the larger groups are the ones actively using the adoption system. As such, the disparity between the number of active members between the biggest and smallest group (measured by number of active members) is more than 5x.

The old system of giving out points to the group for each participant is hence inappropriate. After discussion, the leaders and I have agreed to change the score system to a tiered one, capping at 25 points maximum.

1-5 members = 10 points
6-10 members = 20 points
>11 members = 25 points.

The group bonus for winning will also be changed to match the new system.

25 if member wins
15 if member comes in 2nd or 3rd

2) Participation in the games should be individual based.
There were some confusion to whether you can put your brains together to win minigames etc. I am sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I'll try put this as plain as possible:

All JCnet members are entitled to take part in the games, whether they are in a group or not. If group members have the privilege to "gang up" in the game, then the non-group members are seriously disadvantaged. Any submission should be made as an individual (i.e. it should be your guess/work, and yours alone). Any activity that will cause you to have an advantange over a non-group member is discouraged.

I've added a group score factor not so much for intergroup competition, but for intra-group interaction. I believe that if a member has a group of friends to cheer him/her along, work hard together in the games etc... the games will be a more meaningful one. Group bonus is just a way to stimulate some teamwork.

3) NO votes rallying during the voting stages!
I am going to be quite strict with this. No group member is to do any form of "promotion" for their entries to their team mates. To put it simply, no votes rallying. During voting, "team mate" should not even be part of your decision criteria.

I trust that all group members and adoptees will NOT abuse the privilege of group membership. Using the advantage of being in a group to win the competition just lacks integrity.

Appeal: Keep all exchanges transparent. Do it in the forum threads!
If there is something to say about the games, you should be able to find a thread to say it. This appeal goes out especially to group members, do not PM or Instant Message (eg MSN, ICQ, YahooMessanger etc), to discuss gaming strategy. If you can, do it in a public thread, else, private forums is as far as you should go. Just keep the games clean and transparent... minimize the conspiracy stuff alright? Forum participation is the whole point of the games anyway.

:thanks:
