View Full Version : Jay's Best Album Cover?

Pick your favorite album cover! and maybe you can tell everyone why you like it the most. =3

personally, it was really hard to choose between Ye Hui Mei and November's Chopin.
they're both pretty artsy to me. but i chose Ye Hui Mei in the end. =)

November's Chopin looks very nice. it just has a soothing and relaxing feeling to it. i just can't explain it!

Ye Hui Mei has that picture frame on the top left where it's another picture of jay. =P and it just keeps going on and on and on and on...you get the point. haha, but i just thought that was creative! i also liked his sitting position. haha, it may be one of his best poses yet! especially with his hands doing the /\ thing. XD

Common Jasmine Orange...looked weird. i don't think it was necessary to put the girl on the cover. jay's pose was all wrong and stoic. =P

8 Dimensions was really cool with all the nice graphics. but it was too sci-fi for me. BUT that ring he wore in one of the cd pics is SO COOL. i want one.

Fantasy. Great songs. Bad picture. Jay was still too shy to show his face.

Jay Album. what can i say? there's a white, fluffy cat on it and jay's hair looks...ahem not good.

I picked Ye Hui Mei. It's the best so far.

November's Chopin: This would be my second favourite. It's really nice. The white rim around the booklet and box just made it a little plain looking. I love the suit and the piano in the background.

Common Jasmine Orange: Umm... Jay should be the bigger one in the picture and not the little girl. He has a nice suit but the girl and her teddy bear didn't really match. Nice background. Jay should be the only one on the picture, or Jay in the front and the girl behind somewhere in the distance.

Ye Hui Mei: Very diao! :D Nice look with all the background and oil painting on top left corner. Has that antique colour look of album. Love this one!

8 Dimensions: Cool graphics but I'd rather see Jay's whole face than half real and half technical stuff. And there Jay looks really skinny.

Fantasy: Too close up.

Jay Album: First album so yeah... when you look back at old stuff, it's awkward. And I agree with xiaoting, it looks weird - Jay's hair, and Jay floating??? :?

Definitely 8 Dimensions! Soo damn hot. I loved the straight hair and the look. Next would be Ye Hui Mei ^^

Worst would be 7LX, pink >.< and it was his own directed MV so he used it as cover; so it would've been crappy anyway -_-;

Umm...what do you mean pink? The pink shirt wasn't the album cover. The picture with the...

something similar to this was the album cover.

Ye Hui Mei was most diao. so damn cool position! and that antique feel.
followed by November's Chopin.
the rest were just OK...

I picked yeh hui mei. yeah, the repetition of the paintings was really cool (the background), and i just love jay's attire and the huge chair. his hair looks hot! zhou mama did a painting of this album too right? its just fabulous.

I vote for YHM, because I like the darkness feeling, and I like how it's more like a portrait than an album cover. The pose is defeinitley cool :D

I actually liked the Fantasy cover unlike most of you, because it helped people remember who he was. It was very significant and it stood out; and since he was a newcomer then, people NEEDED to remember it. Now, everytime most people think of jay's albums - they remember the red hood. :) I think it's great <3

i picked 'ye hui mei' because it oozes a mysterious coolness to it with the shaded eyes, the dark tones, his checkered sweater, his godfather like pose.

though 'november chopin' is a beautiful with his satin burgundy jacket and piano, it was rather an ordinary pose. i think one of the calendars month 'jan' or 'feb' would be more favorable.

i like the 'orange jasmine' cover the least since the presence of the little girl was distracting especially since she was in the foreground and there appeared to be no link whatsoever between the two. maybe one of the picture inside the album 'the one with the black dog and his shaded eyes' would be more enticing.

November's Chopin, for sure. Why?

I think it's very arty and just has a lovely, worldly feel to it. I love the way Jay's looking into the distance and the atmosphere is beautiful - the birds, the piano and the Italian (?) scenery in the background. Very mature and well done. And his velvet jacket is very stylish.

Qi Li Xiang: I think it was kinda strange how the little girl was on the cover with him. When my aunt saw it, she said, "Is she part of the group?" Haha. I think the picture on the back is way better.

Ye Hui Mei: Very cool, very laidback and calm. Jay looks very mysterious with his eyes covereup and the pose is very 'Godfather'. My second fave.

8 Dimensions: Pretty good but kinda wierd with the x-ray thing. Makes me think of Predator for some reason. Again, I think the pic on the back is better.

Fantasy: Hmmm...he looks cool but I don't think the photo does him justice. The framing of his face is all wrong. But I lurve the Fantasy Plus cover, that was divine. What can I say, I think Jay loos best from the side.

Jay: Too simple for my taste. And he doesn't look good with curly hair. His mouth looks yummy though :brows:

yea.. i could`nt choose between NC nd YHM.. i chose YHM however.. just cus it has a comfy, cool look to it.. i think i like COJ 3rd cus i dun like how they added the lil girl on the cover.. i mean she`s kyoot nd all .. but like amdawn said.. there`s no link, no connection... but jay looks sooo nice in uniform XD

Both NC and YHM are the best album cover for me, very artistic and jay's looking good there :D
But i do love Fantasy too, because he looks so mysterious with the red clothes. Fantasy album cover is my first impression that makes him unforgetable, just can't takes him out of my mind hahahaha.... :D
Jay's music is just like Oxygen for me, can't live without it :P

It's really hard to choose between November's Chopin and Ye Hui Mei as both are my favourites. But in the end I felt that November's Chopin album cover has a better reflection of Jay being a talented musician. Venice's romantic and ancient culture fills up the classical feel of the album. The grand piano and the pigeons on the background of the picture makes it absolutely classical and awesome.

I know it will be a close fight between Ye Hui Mei and November's Chopin. Both covers are really diao but I chose November's Chopin. I think the piano and the birds in the background won it in the end. Ye Hui Mei was nice as well but I like the suit that Jay wore in November's Chopin more.

Sweet_Monkey
11-16-2005, 10:19 AM
for me it's definetly Ye Hui Mei...Jay looked so diao!
but November's Chopin isnt that bad, too...just don't like the messy hair that much...my second favorite cover! :-)

11-16-2005, 11:16 AM
I vote for YHM cos i think he looks really cool and powerful in the cover. He is sitting there like saying "i'm the king of pop and no one can beat me" kind of feeling to me. I also loves the background.

I'm not saying the other cover is bad. NC have a great cover too. But when i see this poll the first thing in my mind is YHM and not NC

Eh ?!? Ye Hui Mei and November's Chopin is slightly different ! I voted for November's Chopin ! coz of Jay's new hairstyle...it's so nice and cool !!

November Chopin! Actually I never considered Ye Hui Mei, though it was a GREAT cover, I know. Well, this is my analysation of all the album covers :

November's Chopin: It's REAL cool coz for the first time in my opinion, Jay look like a Prince Charming (in album covers). Plus it's taken with the background of Venice, the City of Love. How totally romantic. The drawback is, Jay's face doesn't look so... clear. I mean, not full enough. It's like the picture is focused is on the background, not on his face. Which, I know, is the point of the picture but it'll be nice to see more of Jay's face. :cloud9:

Common Jasmine Orange: It's a good picture, but Jay look like a statue in it, I think. Maybe if he would look a lot less serious, then it would be better. Putting that girl in the picture isn't very suitable, but if you think about it, without her, the picture might be a lot more dull.

Ye Hui Mei: A FANTASTIC cover. I really, really like it. Unfortunately, my priority is how nice Jay looks in the covers and since u can't really see Jay's face thanks to his hair covering his eyes, so I overlooked it.

8 Dimensions: The picture at the back looks nicer! Jay's hair looks to straight here.

Fantasy: It would be a lot better if Jay don't cover his hair!

Jay: There seems like there's no gravity in this pic, so I guess it is cool to some degree *^_^* Problem is, the clothes he was wearing wasn't so nice.

Actually I like the cover of the Incomparable concert 2004 the BEST. No competition!

I would choose YHM...
why???
It's so damn cool... it's so simple but the DIAO is so obvious...
The pix has already showed his DIAOness...
even from ppl that doesn't know him would say it looks DIAO...
well... the reason only 1 word...
DIAO...
anyway... I like November's Chopin too...
He is moving into in his own CLASS from album to album...
:-)

NC is my fav right now, it has this very artistic about it :) just making it so soothing and nice :) also, i like the QLX's other album cover, with jay in the band, that one looks awesome

11-16-2005, 05:35 PM
I love Ye Hui Mei cover!!! It's the best :) Yea, the picture with the picture, etc., etc. is way too intriguing and Jay looks really relaxed like not even posing. Which reminds me of "In The Name of The Father" which is my absolute favorite song! also on the cd ;-)

stitchphil
11-16-2005, 05:51 PM
I so agree with mrazfan4ever! Yu Hui Mei is and remains my favourite album cover. He just looks too calm and cool at the same time. In NC, he managed to do that as well in a senic background, but I just felt that Yu Hui Mei was better.

11-16-2005, 06:16 PM
i choose ye hui mei i think he had a style
then, i think november's chopin is not bad :)

11-16-2005, 08:29 PM
thought process for each album cover:

November's Chopin: there's this royal-purpley elegance that i love. and the effect the birds made at the background. definitely a good photographic moment. it was a contrast of its whiteness compared to his previous albums which are more black based, a fresh change. :D

Qi Li Xiang: its looks creepy, even him wearing the general suit that makes him look mighty hot doesn't help. must be the little girl.

Ye Hui Mei: everybody has said what i want to say. gorgeous. artistic and mysterious, with a little retro feel. awesome shit. :D

8 Dimensions: too futuristic for jay's good. he doesn't... fit that category.

Fantasy: not very artistic but you can see his awesome smooth complexion. that's a plus point.

Jay album: nobody voted for this yet. hey, give it some credit. that cover(hair) screams abstract art and retro man. *does a silly little rocker handsign... thingy*

Its a tough choice between November's Chopin and Ye Hui Mei.

but i picked Ye Hui Mei. must be the reflective golden words. :hmm: :bleh:

I like YHM's cover, cool and yes yi fu zhi ming is definitely my favourite song + MV! But Jay looks so...XD in NC. I choose NC.

YHM!! This is the album that I discover jay, I know i took a long time. I just passed by this cd store and he looked hot just sitting there. He looked mystery. His eyes were very intriguing and that made him sOO HOT. Without this album i'll be like "jay whO?"

reminiscentxgirl
11-17-2005, 01:49 AM
i liked both ye hui mei and novembers chopins album covers. to me, they were pretty opposite; YHM has like a dark, mysterious feel to it, while november's chopin is all classical and sophisticated!

however, i ended up choosing november's chopin album cover. :) i really liked the font they used and the piano sitting in the center on the picture. the picture looked so classy! and can't forget jay! his hopeful expression and professional-looking outfit brings out the best in him! if i rememebr correctly, chopin was from the romantic period? and this album cover definitely suits it. everything about it is just perfect! :)

picked NOVEMBER CHOPIN!

hahas. why?

- just love that classic feeling. with the piano and birds flying :D
- love his side view!
- his posture is attractive and his serious facial expression sets me thinking. jay potrayed the kind of image that he is really serious about his music, which made it a "must hear" album :D
- just love jay and his ring in the lyrics book! :wink2:

YHM: 2nd best! hahas. yupps, that cool cool posture and stlyish dyed hair! :D love the overall picture given too. he looks like the big boss while sitting on that chair

7LX: yupps, acceptable. hahas. love the background though!

8D, FANTASY, JAY: jay with his just rebonded hair and curly hair respectively. hahas. yupps, really catchy tunes and sappy love songs but the album covers ain't the nicest ! :D

Followed by the latest one.
Worst would be...first one lol.

i voted for YHM(:

i love the fingers he showed, his long and tender fingers, HOT.

i love the darkness and mysterious feeling in YHM, plus when i wasn't able to see his eyes, i LOVE that feeling, so i voted for that.

november's chopin is good too, but i still chose YHM :D

Merriana
11-17-2005, 03:35 PM
definitely YHM!!! :excited:
the darkness, the hair, the position was perfect!!
well 2nd best : november chopin ... :D

I picked Ye Hui Mei because I think that a good album cover is when the picture alone will make you want to buy the album. I think Ye Hui Mei's cover is so cool, that as soon as you see it you think "I gotta get that album!" November's Chopin is second for me, followed by Fantasy.

^jay rockz^
11-17-2005, 05:39 PM
November's Chopin.... got this very cool n soothing n sweet feeling.... reaally like a very great heavenly king's music cover...

I voted for Yeh Hui Mei! :excited:
I think it is still the album cover to beat.
But I also find the other album covers really diao, especially November's Chopin. :shiny:
But I didn't vote for it just because it's Jay's latest album.

Capri_girlz
11-21-2005, 10:37 AM
for me....the creative album was a Ye Hui Mei.....
but the elegance and the best album was a November Chopin...
ok that's it...

A good poll.
I voted for Yip Wei Mei. It's different and looks more like an album cover. He looks more like an artist and singer. The cover is original and well thought out. The least one I like is Fantasy. It makes Jay look weird. But anyhow, its the music that matters most isnt it?

11-24-2005, 11:35 PM
i had a hard time choosing between YHM and november's chopin. i ended up picking NC because i like classy pictures and that one looked so classic. i really like the YHM one too because that's practically the exact depiction of "diao". jay looks so hot. hahaha

11-27-2005, 02:57 AM
I love the ye hui mei cover... I agree, Jay's pose was the best... I like how the shadow from his hair cover up his eyes and make him look really cool and mysterious. And I think Ye hui mei also features a lot more good songs compared to the other cds too.

11-27-2005, 06:11 AM

Ye Hui Mei, definitely. He looked cool and poised in that antique armchair. Plus his hair and clothes were totally... What can I say... DIAO! That was the first time I actually realised, hey, Jay's actually very hot!

01. Ye Hui Mei: he looks relaxed, cool. Good pic.
02. November's Chopin: Like the nice piano and Jay of course.
03. Common Jasmine Orange: would be better without the girl, Jay doesn't look natural at that pic.
04. Jay: ermm, better than 8 Dimensions and Fantasy
05/06. 8 Dimensions/Fantasy: the pics used for these covers aren't really great.

.huifen.
11-29-2005, 02:47 AM

i picked ye hui mei cuz i love the shadows on jay's face. it brings out his facial high points such as his nose, cheekbones, and the place on top of his eyes which makes him look so.....serious and mysterious and handsome!!! and his pose was very fancy and cool. suits his style.

i think 8 dimensions' cover and graphic design is the best!
i like the half transparent lyrics album...
and the x-ray kinda graphic...

02-01-2006, 09:24 AM
It should be November's Chopin...

Everything was perfect. Ye Hui Mei is second. Initially, I didn't know which one to chose <between November's Chopin & Ye Hui Mei>. Went for November's Chopin because it's very classy...

Actually I wanted to vote for 'Initial J' but its not up there so I chose '8 Dimensions' instead. It was a tough decision between that and 'Ye Mei Hui'. Both album covers were good and portrayed the cool side of Jay but I liked the effect caused on the album cover of '8 dimensions' so I chose that one in the end.

09-04-2006, 04:20 PM
actually its a tough choice cuz i really like ye hui mei, nov chopin and the qi li xiang album! but ye hui mei album reminded me of the kinda weird looking painting that came along with the album (weird as in cuz jay had long fingers..xD).. nov chopin, the feel was kinda similar to ye hui mei i felt, so the final winner was QI LI XIANG :):):):) just love it, for no particular reasons. *smile*

Well i'd have to choose between Ye Hui Mei and November's Chopin..

I voted Ye Hui Mei actually.. because i think it's really antique and cool, and it really fits the album.. However, come to think of it.. maybe i should've voted Nov Chopin.. because it's really classy and suits Jay as a whole :D Dunno.
