yes campus superstar's out!!

audition's on 19th and 20th this month in Bishan J8?

i jokingly asked my mum if i should join, and she waved it off and said I'll definitely not get in, so i shouldn't waste time trying. gosh how depressing. haha no la. i know my voice also cannot reach high notes well.. so how many of u are going??

Think it's gonna be quite hot. No worry about dressing.. auditions held in uniforms. whee think my friend is signing up..

Yup, I think you would only sing part of a song. I think it would be better if you sing the chorus part. I love Feng alot! It's a beautiful and sentimental ballad.

I admire your courage! If I'm at your age, it wouldn't even cross my mind to participate in the competition haha.

Jay's voice is naturally high-pitched, so therefore some guys may find it difficult to sing his ballads. I'm sure Jiali can do it as she's a girl as most girl's pitch is higher. Jiayou Jiali!

Of course you can sing it on a lower key, Junyang sang Jie Kou on a lower key during one of the week's competition.

I went for the auditions today and i didn't get in. Sobs :cry: I was nervous and went a lil off key :oops: I was in the morning shift and the judges for morning shift was a lot more strict than the afternoon one. More people in the afternoon shift got in. haiz..

stary, oops sorry, i meant i was in the early afternoon shift. The more lenient judges were in the late afternoon to evening.

Yeah, i sang that.. People told me not to sing that because it would be better to sing a girl's song. But i didn't heed their advice. haiz..

I wonder if there will be any good looking ones. Cuz they're all so young. Usually a person would look better when they're older. Like early 20s. Ok,i don't know what i'm talkng about. hahah. But on sat and sun, for most of those guys who got in, they didn't really look good. I hope makeover helps them.

Yesterday, there was this guy who wasn't that bad looking and he sang well. He was on stage for pretty long and he sang more than one song. A lot of people though he would get in, but because of the stupid strict female judges, he received the red light. The audiences went "BOOO!" at the judges. The judges deserved it.. hahah. *I'm so evil*

I just saw the trailer for Campus Superstar after 100% Entertainment. Those secondary school and ITE students really make lots of preparations and even had make-up on.

Actually, a lot of people were kicked out in the 1st round too. They said that 4000 people registered for it and only 500 got in. That's like 1/8. Yeah, really really cruel..

Do you all think campus superstar will be as successful as proj superstar? The contestants are so young. It'll be so weird going crazy over someone who's around 14 yrs old. hahha.

Yeah, i feel that looks plays an important part in the entertainment industry. Unless you really really have substance, like Chen Wei Lian from proj superstar.. otherwise, there's no chance.

I was quite impressed by Wei Lian's vocals when I first heard him sing, but I didn't like his strong nasel accent after the few weeks of competition. But of course, he touches people's hearts with his vocals.

But to really compare with the contestants, I think there are a few which is better than Wei Lian.

Although physical appearance is not everything, it's definitely important for the media industry. There are artistes who do not have great looks who do well too, but it's just a handful.

Well, you will have to bear with the panel of judges.

I'm sure you have seen some remarks they had mentioned to Superstar, Superhosts, Star Idols and even Singapore Idol contestants. They were very harsh to them too.

When it comes to this situation, you have to take a stride back, listen to their comments. Some might be favourable to you. Some probably just do not like you and critizise you. But you have to remember that you're in front of an audience and on national television so you must swallow all the comments and criticisms.

The judges didn't give me any comments. Although i was sad initially for not getting pass the audition round, i've gotten over it now. haha.

The judges give comments for a good reason too. They want you to improve, so they're actually helping! :happy:

One of the contestant is from my school, Guangyang Sec, even thouht I haven heard of her voice, I think she has the potential to be in the top 10 as she had previously won a award relating to singing...

i'm from beatty, the school that organised the xiao yuan superstar for the schools in the south zone! LOL. and we got to see jun yang and xin huey, obviously everyone went crazy when they started seeing "ni zhui zhen gui" :laughing: my friend who was a NPCC cadet sat beside jy and they had a few dialouges!!

Well, I'm from Guangyang Sec, I was really surprise that a student from my school can get first prize for a singing competition because I never heard of students winning singing related contest in my school before...

So you have seen Jun Yang and Xin Huay in your school, wow you are so lucky, I hope they will come to my school some day, its great to have singing competitions organised in your school, I wish school will organise this kind of competition too...

OHH, i see. so you didn't manage to go to the competiton? LOL. she was singing "fen shou kuai le" that day. and she was much more natural than my friend i got to say. that's why.

moreover my friend was really nervous, and sang a little out of beat in the front, but at the back, she was alright.

anyway, you saw the award that the girl from your school recieve? it is a star :D really nice! looks like previous year star awards' prize! :laughing:

LOL, not the best but really not bad :D maybe because she is singing a song that i don't like, therefore i didn't really pay attention to her singing.

but i know that she has the stage presence :D she is really natural and is sure good enough to go into top 20 :D

but looking at all the finalists, they all look so good! hahs. the twins left a very deep impression on me :D

Wow, some pretty much difficult songs to sing like Ni De Wei Xiao and Ai De Zhu Da Ge. Hope they will do well during the first quarter finals.

I was elated when I saw two Jay songs there! Really looking forward to watch the show on Monday.

After watching the competition, I must say that some of the contestant's vocals are quite impressive!

Generally, I think the guys fared better than the girls. F1's voice is quite matured but she's only 13. And her voice is one of the strongest of out the five girls. F2 was a little pitchy while singing the song. F3's voice was too sweet and I didn't really like it. I didn't really like F4's rendition of Fly Away. And I felt that she likes to wink alot which kindda puts me off. F5's performace was steady and good.

M1 impressed me with his high-pitched voice. I was taken aback when he could reach all the high notes. M2's voice has the shadow of Lin Jun Jie, but his vocals are great too. Unfortunately, M3 who sang An Jing didn't do well and was eliminated. His voice is rather week too. M4's Jian Dan Ai was alright to me, and gives me a comfortable feeling. I can't comment much about M5 as I was away from the TV set.

The results was quite alright. Not shocking as Project Superstar. Hope the remaining contestants continue to do well in their next performance.

For the girls, i thought that F5 did the best. The moment she started singing, i sat bolt upright. Her voice is good. I heard she was once offered a recording contract, but was going to take Os then, so her dad didn't allow her to sign the contract.

I didn't really like Yin Wei's version of Jian Dan Ai. I felt that the song he chose was qing kuai, cheerful kind. But to me, he sang it in a droney, sad way. He hardly smiled throughout the song, other than the last few lines.

I agree that M2's voice sounds alot like Lin Jun Jie. In a way, it's good too. hahah. Can garner in votes from jun jie's fans, perhaps.
I like M5's image. I agree with Cavin Soh that he has the idol look. Definitely has X factor.

I think somebody was supposed to sing Gui Ji right, but changed to some other song. I think it was Yin Wei. Oh yeah.. i can't stand his glasses. The rims are so thick! Abit distracting. :oops:

My sister and I were totally amazed at how high the standard was for this Campus Superstar! In fact I thought the girls were like better than Project Superstar! haha... a few la...

Contrary to Stary, I thought the girls did better than the guys. Their voices were really matured and steady, and their stage presence was like they have been performing for their entire lives haha...haha... a few la...

I thought F1 was really good. I really couldn't tell that she's just 13. Her voice's really matured! F2 is sweet, and her voice's quite nice also, but maybe not as steady as F1. The rest I can't really remember.. Oh F5! I thought she's really shuai4! haha.... but she has her beauty also. Her voice's good also. Probably she's more matured and she chose a 'feel' song, so the judges gave her good comments.

As for the guys, I didn't like the one who sang 'an jing' haha. M1's voice was really good. Yap he hit the high notes well, but probably not enough feel, or kick. The RI guy, yap he wasn't happy singing jian dan ai. Only at the last part did he smile. But I thought his voice was good also. Rather deep voice. Haha his glasses... yap he should try a 'makeover' haha...

Overall, I'm really impressed, & I felt ashamed of myself too! haha..By the way, I was really surprised when no one cried during the results show. It seems that these kids are really very very matured. I still remember so many people cried so much during Project Superstar - (Weichoong!! haha...). Probably because these kids do not take it as seriously as the "ge ges and jie jies "haha...

I think the girls perform much much better than the girls in the project superstars at the start of the contest, even though they were young and inexperience, I think they sing really well, I like F5 the most, I think she is mature and can express the song really well, she really moved me when she sang the song. I think F3 and F4 did ok, I think F3 is a good singer but maybe the other contestants are too strong so its a pity that she's gone and F4 pays too much attention on her dance therefore I don't really like her performence.

As for the guys, I think M1 and M2 perform really well out of the five, even thought I don't really like M5's singing, but he has the X-factor, so wish him all the best in the future...

I generally think dat the guys sound much better than the gals for the first quarter finals....however as they r still boys now, they might break voice or had not finished breaking their voice...so there is a risk for them...however i think dat campus superstar is too short, and the remarks made by the judges r not as thought provoking as dat of project superstar....hope these youngsters will still put their studies as the first priority....

basically, students should concentrate on their studies. "Fame" is only a short-term thing. Even if you get the Champion of the Campus SuperStar, do you think you can go that far? nah! i dont think so.!

ok! now, i am back! was just watching the campus superstar. and here are my personal comments:

F1- Sheena: not steady, was panting; cant hit the high notes; no climate. and i can say, weird dance moves. =X
F2- Gao Mei Gui: no eye contact(perhaps, eye too small). hit the high notes very well. but chorus part no bao4 fa1 li4.
F3- Clara:cant hit the low notes; no feeling; but her dressing suits the song she sang.
F4- Teresa: very nice, so i have no comment
F5- Yang Ce: She sang "Cappucino". She cant hit the notes: "Ai4 jiu4 xiang4 cappucino". The cappucino, she cant sing well

M1- Kenneth: dou3 yin1 is good,but too much already;very impressed; got emotions but never end the song well.
M2- Samuel: starting part too nervous; sounds breatheless
M3- Adriano: Sang like Li Hom. Got the bi2 yin1.
M4- YuYang: can hear that he is panic, shivering voice when he sang the "wow". Not focus.
M5- Zhuo Rong: got the mood; nice dance step; but he is not enjoying himself.

Basically, i prefer this time round. The boys' standard is higher. And, the guys have Wang Li Hong syndrome??? i think 2 of them sang wang li hong's songs.

-personal comments- : if i criticised ur friends' singing, please dont blame me. Cause i am just stating my opinions.

I thought last week's contestants were better. But I was rather 'shocked' by Teresa! She sings so darn well, so matured, so steady, reminds me of Teresa Teng ahhaa.... And the comments she got from the judges, I don't think she can sleep tonight haha.... They are praising her to the skies! Although she sounds a little 'lao3 qi4' but it's still damn nice & soothing I thought.

As for the guys, yap some of them are just trying to imitate Lee Hom's 'slang' or something like that...I thought Adriano reminds me of Weichoong, especially the small eyes haha...

Actually, I don't think there's anything wrong in participating in singing competitions. I thought it's just for fun and you are only young once... and if you enjoy singing, there's no harm trying! In fact I thought joining competitions will help to build up your confidence and counter stage frights. It may also be helpful in presentations in school or at work! (Maybe this is a little out of point haha)

But of course, students must know how to prioritise. At the end of the day, studies is still more important for students. Like most people say, work hard, play hard! But of course, don't play toooo hard! =)

Yeap, I thought so too. Theresa sang really well. She was also very steady. And her sweet smiles were really captivating.

Hmm, the guys sang two Lee Hom songs and they sound like imitating his voice. I still prefer Wei Jian's rendition of Piano. M2 who sung Piano has actually a good voice, but its a pity that he doesn't have a strong voice.

Today's performances were better than last weeks. Kinda diasappointed with Yu Yang's performance. Could see that his hand which was holding the mike was shivering.

The guy who sang piano.. he lacked emotions and climax. Sounded rather dead. Wei Jian's rendition is still better. hehe!

I thought M1 did the best among the other guys, but his scores weren't really high. As for the girls, i wasn't home yet, so i missed it! :oops: Gonna catch the repeat tomorrow.

i realised i kept quoeting. HAHA. (: sugi and junyang WERE really very nervous. my friends and i were watching their mouths mumbling many many things underneath their breath, going breathless and kept walking and fidgitting around their little space during the commercials. (p.s i was there watching live studio)

then my friends and i were getting really worried for them. then we kept screaming and shouting for them, and told them to jiayou and not to get nervous and all. :D

oh, plus i don't like how yangce and sheena sings. based on my own opinion, yangce can continue to stay in the competition cos of her 'cuteness' and all, but not for long. for sheena, her popularity and fan base is high, thus i cannot conclude/estimate whether she will stay for long or not. :wacko:

whatever it is, i root for teresa and clara! (:
(i haven't heard geradline sing so, hehe.)

I quite like the Chinese High guy's voice too, but today's song Forever Love was tuned down to such a weird key that everything sounds not right. Hope he chooses a right song for the next round.

haha okay anyway, just wanna summarise what happened and all.
uhm it was quite fun, everyone was quite high.

and i think watching THERE and listening at home, the feeling is quite different. and the place seems VERY quiet on tv (to me) but actually it's quite noisy. haha and the fact that sheena got out was actually quite sad because it's like her twin already got out, and everyone's relying on her): i was quite sad for her. oh but on the other hand, CONGRATULATIONS TERESA!!!!

oh and yes, as you all can see, haha we all took a lot of pictures with adriano and yinwei. (: they are really cute man. yuyang, i don't really like him. i don't know why. hahaha he had SO MUCH make up on. he looks so white! oh and i think yiyuan is quite cute after all, and that chinese high guy also. haha but yes, i still think adriano and yinwei are cuter!

adriano and yinwei look quite alike, i agree! haha they both have that BLUR look. and when we went screaming at him and taking pictures, they kept blinking and they were really shocked. haha (: it was a fun experience though.

anyway, i think Teresa's performance was not as good this time, because she was nervous i think? however, her voice is still very sweet. just that the songs she chooses are quite flat sometimes.

and it's ADRIANO next week! ah i hope he gets in, because if he gets kicked out, it'll be Adriano and Yin Wei competing against each other and i like both. oh and i was quite happy that Zhi Yang got in, he's very cute! HAHA and Renfred, i thought his dance movements were too over, and he kind of ruined Jay's song. ): the way he pronounced the words were worse than Derrick!! i think it's because it wasn't that natural. yup!
