1. Rename your rmvb extension to avi. (01.rmvb to 01.avi)

2. Download the latest RealMediaSplitter plugin from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ackage_id=87719

3. After download, extract the RealMediaSplitter.ax to c:\windows\system32\ (make sure is from Release Folder)

4. Run regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\RealMediaSplitter.ax and make sure is successful.

5. Launch your Nero Express and select burn VCD option.

6. Add the avi file that you have renamed just now. (if you got error here regarding unsupported format, close Nero completely, repeat from step 4 to 6 again)

7. After that just click Next and burn the avi file to VCD as normal. (if you got another error here regarding unable to start encoder, close Nero completely, repeat from step 4 to 7 again)

Hey... this is a good method, but I have a problem here.
For example my file is named as A.
So when i rename my file, it became A.avi.rmvb.

How do I solve this problem? Or is there another program that i can use the convert RMVB to VCD or DVD without changing the quality of the output!

Ice: When you are changing the file extension, you should put the .avi after the .rmvb (so it would be like "A.rmvb.avi" instead of "A.avi.rmvb"), then it'll convert it to avi format, or you can just change it to just about any format that you want, such as mpg.

Thanks for your suggestion. But is there any other way to change my current rmvb file then?

Ice, you need to enable viewing of file extensions.

Open a folder > Tools Menu > Folder Options > View Tab > Uncheck Hide File Extensions for Known File Types

scarletwillow, thats for helping but I get this message below when I tried to change it to avi.

If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable.
Are you sure you want to change it?

Argh... I still cannot convert!

Well, just say yes, you do want to convert it.

I did click yes but I got stucked at the nero side! They say the file is unsupported or something similar.

I don't think Nero recognizes RMVB.

The entire process is to me a bit iffy, because changing file extensions does nothing to the actual file but change a miniscule amount of header data in the file.

I myself don't understand how this process works, either. It seems to connect several unrelated processes into a conversion. If you ask me, the author performed these steps, and may be able to get it to work on his computer, but is missing something vital.

i actually get it to work on my computer following these steps. I think you all need to have Nero 6 express to make it work on your computer( I have both the ultra and express edition, and this process doesn't seen to work for the ultra edition, but work for the express edition).

All you have to do is go to google.com, and search for the term "Real Media Splitter", and the first link on the search result is where you can dl the real media codec. Here's a link that i found when i searched that term, http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm , and there's many other link to dl too, if this one doesn't work.
