I don't know when my videos stopped displaying color, but just at first, I tried to watch something, and it appeared in black and white. It was not just that video, because I tried other ones I had stored in my computer that had worked fine previously and they showed up black and white. I haven't fiddled with any settings to my knowledge, and I have no idea what the problem could possibly be. Recently I installed a new printer, but that shouldn't be the problem right?

I tried searching the web for answers but didn't find anything, so if anyone can help me, I'd really really appreciate it.

Well, it never hurts to try removing the printer and its programs to see if it is causing the problem. Also, even though you don't think you did anything to the settings, you can always go back and check it or try playing the video in a different program

The printer will not affect the display of your videos. I just want to verify that its only the videos that are showing in black and white, and not your entire screen. It would also help us to tell us what player you are using, but I am assuming its WMP (Windows Media Player). My best guess would be that there is a 3rd party program you have on which is somehow messing up your video players ability to play colors. I would recommend that you do one of 2 things. You most likely need to start using a more stable video player other than WMP, either VLC, BS player, or even winamp). Also make sure that your codecs are all up to date. The other thing you could do, which is slightly more complicated, is to disable all your programs which are running in the background. By doing so you can find the program that is messing with your codecs. (which reminds me, another possiblity is that you have recently installed faulty codecs which may have mesed things up.) I would recommend to take the first course of action, but if you want to try the second, let me know and I can provide further instructions on how to set that up.

Yes, only my videos are showing up black and white, the rest of my desktop and everything else shows up fine. I tried playing the videos in both Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic but the results are the same.

I primarily use MPC and it hasn't posed any problems before. I'm pretty sure my codecs are up to date, but I'm not sure how to verify that, and I haven't installed any new codecs recently. If it's not too much trouble, I'm willing to try the second option you provided of disabling other programs in the background.

u should be careful with the disabling option

becoz some of the programs might not be listed as APPLICATION when u press control+alt+delete

but usually listed as a process..... and when u disable process all sorts of things happen

some process cannot be stopped, some can be stopped, some can be stopped and stop ur computer running at the same time.... so erm have fun disabling

okay, geez, i solved the problem after asking for some help from my brother. it turns out the saturation of my video card was turned down to 0%, therefore the videos could only display black and white. turning it back up solved the problem. i have absolutely no idea how that happened because no one else has been using my computer and i certainly didn't do it. hmm.

sorry for all the trouble  and thanks for all your time and help JDA!
