Contest suggestion?

OK I've asked the VIPs about this and they just don't seem to care. So I'm just going to open it up and ask the entire forum. I'm thinking of doing a contest, it's been a LONG while since we had one.

Since Jay's album is coming out in November (at least last time I heard), I want to give that away as a prize, and maybe some other stuff, we'll see.

Here are the contests we've done in the past:
1). Album cover re-design
2). Poetry
3). Karaoke
4). Incomparable Jay fan (prove you're the #1 Jay fan)

So just toss some ideas around if you have any, it'll be much appreciated

What about having a JCNET Music Awards? We can have different catigories like karaoke, instrumentals like piano, violin, groups, solos, rock, etc. Or we can even have a Make-your-own-MV contest! Just throwing in some ideas...

What about playing the piano to a Jay song? Almost all of his songs are accompanied by a piano score. It'll be really neat to people hear playing his songs and maybe adding their own personal variations? Oh, and I like the "make your own MV" idea also.

How about a contest for the best banners and avatars
in line with the release of Jay's next album? :? :wink2:
I mean,the most appropriate or the most creative
or the most appealing avies and siggies
that are related to Jay's upcoming album. :rolleyes:

oo what about a competition where people have to compose their own songs..then the mods nd admins or something choose which one sounds the best!!

How about a contest to modify the lyrics of any of Jay's song? :rolleyes: It is not necessary for the contestants to modify the whole song, probably the chorus part will do? For those who do not know chinese, they can probably choose to inject English lyrics into Jay's songs~

If the contest is to be held after the album has been released, maybe the choice of songs can be limited to those contained in the new album~ If the contest is to be organized before the release of the album, probably the choice of songs can include all Jay's songs~~

That's just a little suggestion from me~

We could do a fanfic writing contest but the fic MUST contain certain phrases or sentences and characters .. etc. Or something like that. :x

what about a layout making contest? see who can come up with the best layout for jc.net and then their layout can be the next featured layout here on the site. we could have things that needa be specifically there.. maybe if it's after the album release, base the layout on the new album or anything else

I like Viv's suggestion for a fanfic writing contest. Its creative and fun! I've been obsessed with making fan videos lately so I'm for WinterSnow's idea as well! What about making a fan video for Jay to any of his songs or a chosen song? Or possibly a remake of his MVs? :D
Personal suggestions is a "How 'Diao' are you contest"!! Where a picture of Jay is provided and users can dress up and pose like the picture! Or users might find their own picture of Jay to pose.
My minds run dry of ideas now but contests are fun!

Yeah, like what Onigiri said, we could do something like a video-making contest. Anything they would like to slot it in and make out the best video of Jay or even cutting out many different parts from all Jay's music video to make it one, depends on members' creativity. And those who can sing well, they can dubbed in a song or music that they the members sing themselves. We could see how creative is the people in this forum. :rolleyes:. Just giving some ideas,hope it's not childish or anything.

A few ideas just popped up in my head:

1) Create a print ad to promote Jay's latest album
2) Create a set or avatar and banner in conjunction with the release of Jay's latest album
3) Design a poster (like those usually given away with purchases of the album)
4) Come up with a name for the album (coz most of the time, the title of Jay's album is not the name of any songs contained in the album) and provide the reason of the your chosen name

Urmm, actually I start to realise that the avatar-banner idea sounds a little bit like what we do for the Theme Week~~
The create-gimmick idea sounds interesting!

Another suggestion here:
1) Write a review of Jay's latest album
2) Create a short story using any of Jay's new song as the background or theme

I have an idea too....how about this.....

We have a drawing competition?!

Everyone will be able join in! As not all have photoshop for graphic making you see and not all have special programs to make an MV so I was thinking yeah why not a drawing competition.

All the Admins can gather and assign pictures in which we can choose from to draw. Then the Admins can narrow it down to the top 10 and then members can vote...:flowers:

How about it guys? What do you think??

Hmm...a competition where people draws by hand a picture of Jay and anything related to him like the car from Initial D or Jay with a piano :wink2:. Any competition should be good :happy:.

Option 1:
Rewrite the first verse and chorus of any Jay song to English lyrics, and sing it.

Option 2:
Given a description of a scene involving Jay, graphically represent it (e.g. hand draw, photoshop, photograph, etc.).

Example of a scene description: Jay is leaning against a piano, he's holding a gold shaped object that looks like an ice cream cone. His hair is meticulously ruffled, he wears a sullen look on his face. The backdrop contain hues of dark purple and browns. The sun is setting in the background. etc. etc.


Any opinions on the two options above? Anyone interested?

I go for the first option, it'd b fun to see what lyrics people come up with and be nice to hear people giving their own flavour to a Jay song ^^

Hmm yeah I'd go for the first option too ^___^ although maybe more people would join in with the 2nd option because not everybody likes recording their voices for the world to hear!

I prefer the second option, mostly because a lot of us play around with PS. It would also be great to see how other people would interpret the description.

I would prefer the 2nd one too... Like cinsin had said, most of us play around with PS... so probably it is more familiar with the rest of the people.

because this album has fantastic song titles.. i thought of creating a song with every titles in it. whoever who creates the most beautiful lyrics wins. =|
i just thought it'll be quite wasted if we don't use those titles jay/vincent created.
