yep, saw this a little while ago. i really like the interesting twists in the plot. can't wait for parts 2 & 3 to come up. i thought edison made a pretty good young version of andy lau. and tony leung was awesome! he's always been one of my fave actors. :)

Yeah I saw it and I thought it was really good! One of the best canto movies I've seen! :D

Yeah Internal Affairs has to be one of the best cantonese movies I've seen. The plot twists were cool.

I thought Tony was cute.. haha. Elva's so pretty! I didn't know she was gonna be in the movies, so I was really surprised when I saw her. I wanted Tony to end up with her instead of Kelly. It's so sad how Tony never found out about the kid..

OOh yah! I saw infernal affairs a while back!! great movie. My uncle lent it to us!!
I thought Edison made a good young Andy Lau too! They kinda resemble each other a lil! hehe.
There's a part 2&3?! :excited: WOW i didn't know that!! COOLCOOL.
I thot Kelly Chen looked reallie pretty!! But i didn't think that Edison, Shawn and Elva's parts were gonna bee so little.. I thot they wud bee in more scenes!! =(
It was kinda confusing the first time i watched it..But yah! I reallie enjoyed the movie! ^__^

Probably the best flim that has come out of the HK movie industry over the past decade. Tony Leung was brilliant in there and thoroughly deserved the award.

I'm skeptical about the sequels though.

this is a good film. i heard it's been selected by the hk film industry to be entered into the oscars, foreign films award. don't know whether it'll make it tho....

isn't there supposed to be a prequel too?? if you ask me, the idea of a prequel was prolly thought up just for shawn and edison....there are such things as "tailor-made" films....

I saw the film a while back...i thought it was really good compared to the stuff HK are coming up with at the moment. I heard Edison got angry because Shawn got more screenplay and words than him or something...

But i really dont remember Elva and Sammi in it. Who were they?

i havent seen it, but i´ve heard that its really gd.
i read from a finnish movie-magazine that warner bros. has bought the rights to infernal affairs and is gonna remake the movie. the rumors say that brad pitt is gonna play one of the main characters. (yummy :bleh: )dunno if its true though.
isnt jordan chan in the sequel? i think its called hei bai shen lin (black and white forest)or something...?

I liked it A LOT, I think it was probably one of my favorite HK movies of all time. EVERYTHING was good - the script, actors, music, filming, blah blah blah... I really liked the story too, it was something different, something clever...VERY MUCH UNLIKE HK movies. And he may be like in his 40's (I think?), but Andy Lau was HOT. :excited: Although I prefer Shawn and Edison though. Can't wait till Internal Affairs 2!!! :)

**I heard Internal Affairs might be up for Oscar nomination...CONGRATS!**

elva was tony's ex-girlfriend who's married and has a daughter. sammi was andy's gf and they had just moved into a place together with plans to get married.

yea both play really small parts in the movie...so does Kelly

there is a sequel coming out? im curious to know what they could possibly do in a sequel...i mean...the story is basically over...the main bad guy is dead and the once bad guy is now good..i mean..unless there is more moles in the police and what now..but then the story would jus get really repetitive and lame

actually ker ai teresa is right there aren't any sequals its a prequal that why only edison and shawn are in it not tony and andy.also a yu (the girl who sang the song with edison)is going to be sammi the younger version of sammi .yu already looks like sammi to begin with.

also very few people will remember kelly and sammi in it.i think that kelly is a psychiatrist?psychologist?and sammi is a author.but for me i think that they really didn't need to be in the movie because without them it would still be the same right?but it hink that they only added sammi and kelly because it would be more "bigger"but yea i guess that having kelly and sammi in it is no big deal. Its cool.

well big name stars don't always have to have big parts or play the lead role. if they are able to play a small role well, that's what will make an actor stand out as pro. also, there are such things as "special guest stars"

but yeah, kelly was tony's psychiatrist.

Oh yea...and it all comes back to me!! Thanks...hehe

A film which has a lot of special guest stars with cameo roles is 'My lucky Star' with Tony Leung, Ronald Cheung and Miriam Yeung, about Feng Shui. Its a funny film, and its good to keep watching to see who pops up next!

Infernal Affairs 2 is coming out soon I think

yeah... i think the release date in HK is in october sometime. the filming's wrapped up already. it'll be interesting to see how edison and shawn are gonna carry the weight for this "prequel". and how carina lau's gonna contribute to the story.

carina lau's gonna be tsang chi wai's love interest. his wife? i forgot. but edison's also attracted to her. and it's basically the same cast as the first one but without andy and tony obviously. they added francis ng and some other dude. not too sure what other actresses are there besides carina.

and yeah, i think if brad pitt and someone else did a remake, it would a lil' strange for me, too.

Oh gosh i just watched the vcd last week and i think its a pretty good movie!!!
i heard from friends that they actually filmed 2 endings, one where andy lau gets away and the other where he gets caught....=)

i htink the hk version (the one i watched) was the one where he got away!!! heh i'm a sucker for happy endings so i'm happy i watched this one =) apparently the one showed in other countries like singapore was the version whereby andy lau steps out of the elevator and gets handcuffed....not too sure though

and yeah i'm sure the prequel is a showcase for edison and shawn....
i wonder if they're gonna film 2 sequels then??? coz andy lau getting caught and not getting caught would lead to 2 very different sequels i would think....

i just watched it ... and i have to agree with you guys, its definetly one of the best hk movies i have seen.
it just crossed my mind that jay´s In the Name of the Father would have been great for the movie´s soundtrack, especially the part in the song where it says:
"Merciful father, I have already fallen into
The kingdom where guilt cannot be seen
Please forgive my conceitedness"

i saw it with the HK ending too (one where andy lau got away), wonder whats the alternative ending like...? :hmm:

im curious to see whats the hollywood version gonna be like, heard that brad pitt is gonna be starring it, it should be intresting...

roche is right in that the alternative ending is andy lau getting caught once he stepped out of the elevator. that's what was shown in china due to political reasons? i dunno. it was a bad alternative ending anyway. even though andy got caught, the way it was done just didn't make too much sense. and now that you mentioned it, jay's "in the name of the father" would fit nicely indeed.

and cystaltears, i didn't like tony dying either. but anyway, for infernal affairs 2, they're doing a prequel starring edison and shawn as the younger counterparts of andy and tony, respectively. however, in infernal affairs 3, they WILL bring back tony. as for how, we're just gonna have to wait and see. the original cast will be back along with the addition of leon lai. filming for part 3 is currently underway. anyway, i can't wait to see both parts 2 & 3! :)

and oh, did anyone notice elva's lines regarding her daughter during that little scene in the middle where she appeared? i'm wondering if she messed up on her daughter's age on purpose cuz she wanted to hide the fact that the girl is actually tony's daughter... :hmm: those numbers just struck out at me and i just thought that the girl couldn't be elva and her current husband's child b/c of how old the girl is and how long elva was with tony...

yup, i think they last saw each other seven years ago, and the lil girl was six years old, so that would make sense alright... and in the funeral scene the zoomed into the girl´s face, so i guess that would imply that she´s tony´s and elva´s kid.. :wink2:

yeah... i remembered that zoomed-in scene as well. guess we'll find out about it. oh yeah, carina's name for part 2 is mary, right? and she's gonna be the love interest of edison though she's older. well, it's one-sided anyway. but it's also intriguing how sammi's name is also mary for part 1. so, i guess andy got himself the same named girl in the end. heehee... oh, does ah yu play the younger version of mary in part 2? i think she's only in one scene where she gets interrogated by edison. that's what i read from entertainment news anyway.

Lisa, that part where Elva appeared in Part I screams to us that Tony fathered her child. the look of embarrasment and the uneasiness that she portrayed was too evident.

Oooh - I saw the preview of Part 2 and Carina looks very HOT and SEXY!! Too bad Tony isn't in Part 2. I hope they get scenes together in Part 3. Also, in Part 2, we find out that Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang's characters go way back. They did not just meet (like I thought) in the police station when Eric was in custody and they had all their guys standing behind them - the classic scene where they both said they knew who the mole in their team was. We'll find out that they'd tried to kill each otehr before.

It's going to be exciting!!!!! :excited:

thanks for letting us know, ash! :) now i wanna see whether elva's gonna tell her daughter and tony the truth when he comes back in part 3. i really like carina. i think she's a great actress! and she looks so cute with tony as a real life couple. heehee... but would carina be in part 3? i thought she'd only be in part 2 b/c of eric tsang. :? and yeah, eric and anthony go way back b/c they probably crossed paths all the time, one being in the triad, and one being in the police force. i really wanna see edison and shawn's portrayals of andy and tony, to see whether or not they played their parts well.

hey there fruitee:
it is really hard to make out what 'mo jian do' is at first, coz u mixed the canto and mandarin way of speaking it together... if ur talking about the madarin pronounciation, then it should be 'wu jian dao' cantonese is 'mo gan do'.......
at first i thought u were talking about mo ze dong... lol

Anyway, i love 'Internal Affairs', it's a new improvement in HK movies i've seen in the last few years....
It's a shame how the gd guy died.....
i heard that in China they changed the plot so that the bad guy (andy lau) died, is that true???
Looking forward to Internal Affairs II ^^

Jason, lisa has already explained about it here http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=138304#138304

I'm sorry if I missed it but what is Part III going to be about? Is it a prequel to Part I and sequel to Part II? I mean, how else are they going to bring Tony back, right?

And Lisa, is Carina Eric's mistress? Or Edison's older lover? ... or both? :? The show starts tomorrow in Malaysia. I don't know if I want to catch it really hot or wait till there is a review in the papers.

wackycashew
09-30-2003, 07:42 AM
cystaltears & jason: andy DID NOT die in the alternative ending. he was simply handcuffed by the police. but i don't think the sequel's gonna follow that ending.

ashley, part 3 comes after part 1 as far as i know. i don't think it's a prequel to part 1 & sequel to part 2. as for how they're planning to bring tony back, it's a secret right now and the mystery will be unveiled when part 3 comes out. at least that's what the director said.

carina is supposed to be eric's wife in part 2. but i wonder if she's just supposed to be a mistress. anyway, she wanted to help her husband "conquer" the triad world and that's why she has some dealings with anthony. and edison is under eric, right? so, i think maybe he just fell for carina b/c of all the time they spent together. it's a one-way attraction. carina doesn't like him. actually, he gets slapped by her in one scene. this is just what i've read from the entertainment news so far. still haven't seen the movie yet. oh, it's coming out in malaysia tomorrow? :excited: cool! i think edison and shawn just went for a promo trip to singapore and malaysia? i forgot if it's both places or just one. anyway, i'll be patiently anticipating it.

rikastar
09-30-2003, 04:42 PM
Edison and Shawn came to Singapore for the movie. It was pretty funny, when they came into the cinema, Shawn greeted us politely with 'Hello everyone', and Edison followed with a 'Wassup!' They also burst out laughing out of a sudden in the middle of the interview. It was a very weird moment, lol. :wink2: Are they really not on good terms, or is it just rumours?

wackycashew
09-30-2003, 05:05 PM
oh, so you actually saw them rikastar? or on the news in singapore? haha... the "wazzup" thing is so edison. i think it's just rumours that they are not on good terms. you know the media. they always try to portray so and so as being against somebody or other. it's kinda dumb really. can't they think of something new to talk about?

went to watch infernal affairs today..
it's quite good!..but kinda gory at parts though..
anyway are edison and carina supposed to have an affair? thought i read abt tt in some interview but in the movie yup like wackycashew said it seems to be just one-sided and carina doesn't seem to like edison at all..
and heh he gets slapped more than once! 3-4 times maybe?

wackycashew
10-01-2003, 07:47 PM
rikastar: you're so lucky that you got to see them at the premiere! :excited: i've always wondered what they look like up close.

roche: for the gory parts, are you referring to the part where anthony wong got shot and pushed off the building? as for part 2, edison and carina didn't really have an affair b/c it's just a one-sided attraction. i'm not sure how many times he actually got slapped by her in the movie. maybe just once? but when they were shooting, he got hit at least 10 times b/c of the number of takes they had to do. and the reason he got slapped was cuz he wanted to kiss carina. that's what i've read on the entertainment news.

Lisa, you're going to be sooo jealous. I've made up my mind to go watch it tonight (in 7 hours) ! :excited:

I'll come back tomorrow with some reviews .

Hmm... absolutely intrigued about Part III now. Hope it's not the old 'twin' routine. :hmm:

Off topic: Carina was featured in October's Malaysian Women's Weekly. She says she's acting opposite Tony in an upcoming Wong Kar Wai movie called "2046". WONG KAR WAI movie !!!!!! It'll be good. :yeah:

wackycashew
10-02-2003, 06:41 AM
ASHLEYYYYY!!!!! :excited: i will wait patiently for your review. :)

yeah, i think part 3's gonna be an eye-opener. or i hope it will be as good as they are claiming it to be. hmmm... the twin thing would be too weird and cheesy. let's hope they've come up with something better.

oh really? that's cool that she's in a malaysian mag. i really like carina. always thought that she's a great actress. i've heard about "2046", but didn't know she was in it. just know that tony and faye wong have parts. wong ka wai stuff is quite interesting, but concepts are hard to grasp at times. i know he's had a long partnership with tony. but the only movie by him i've seen is "chungking express". there are others that i want to see, but haven't gotten around to it yet. e.g., "hua yuan lian hua" with maggie cheung. forgot the english name of the movie, but it was a big hit. i think they even showed it here in canada in small theatres where foreign films are featured. on the side, how much is it to go see a movie in malaysia?

ashley
10-02-2003, 07:00 AM
Hope the mods won't kick our butts, carrying on a conversation like this  And we're sooo off-topic !!

Movie tickets costs around USD 4 and there are discounts for non-peak hours (before 6pm) and special days like Tuesdays (ladies day!) and Wednesday (mid week?).

I hope I got the title "2046" right. Carina did say that a famous actress pulled out - so that could be faye? :?

Ohh, and the movie starring Tony and Maggie, are you talking about "In The Mood For Love", Lisa? They got awards for that, didn't they? And it's a Wong Kar Wai film, right? I've got the DVD but I haven't watched it yet.

wackycashew
10-02-2003, 07:19 AM
haha ash... ummm... well, when you get back with your part 2 review, we'll be back on topic. :wink2:

yes, it's called "in the mood for love"! and they did get awards, i think. heard it's a really good movie. and the title for the other movie is "2046". that's right. ummm... who else besides faye is supposed to be in it? i don't remember. i read the news on it quite a while ago. no, i'm sure faye's still in it. her manager said that she's trying to help faye balance her schedule so she can do the movie and work on her music stuff at the same time. ah well, i guess we'll find out sooner or later. oh wait, i just did a search over at a movies site. there's also some girl named miao fe lin, zhang zi yi, and maggie cheung along with faye and carina. hmmm... wonder who pulled out of the film, if any of the actresses...

okee, back on topic... i can't wait to hear all the juicy details once you've seen part 2! :)

Watched it !!!! Loved it !!!!

First of all, I want to say that, to me, Part I will always be the benchmark. Watched Part II last night and I still say it will never be as good as Part I. The pace wasn't as exciting but nevertheless it was able to live up to expectations as a prequel .

Most of the questions are answered. You will see the 'frienship' and trust that was shared between Anthony and Eric and how that trust was abused and how they became enemies in Part 1.

The plot of Infernal Affairs II is nothing special - it's the usual police vs. triads movie and we already know that it involves moles, BUT there are still minor surprises here and there. I like how the screen time was equally shared among the big names - Anthony, Eric, Carina, Francis and the young guns, Edison and Shawn.

The ensemble did a good job, making their characters' emotions very believable. But I would not say Shawn and Edison are up to par with the other veterans. Edison was just counting on his good looks and his role was believable because he already looks like Andy Lau. On the other hand, Shawn started off looking very stiff ('wooden') and I had a tough time convincing myself he was a young Tony. But watch out for the scene at the graveyard, where Shawn talks to Anthony, near the end of the film. He did impress me there with a good mimick of Tony's facial expressions (teeth grinding and all).

Also, all the familiar roles are there from Part I. Remember Soh Keung? And Elva and Sammi's characters are both introduced - giving us insights to how it all started for the 2 couples.

Go watch it today !!!!!

thanks so much for the review, ashley! :flowers: sounds really good! btw, who played the young elva? i think ah yu (chiu chong yu) played the young sammi, right? oh, i can't wait to see it! then i'll know how they filled in the gap to lead up to part 1. and it's great that the stars got to share fairly equal screen time. that's hard to balance at times when you've got such a big cast. so, i'm glad to hear that. well, thanks again, ash! your take on the movie was much appreciated!

Yeah - didn't you see the strong resemblance? :)
And according to Lisa, Sammi's character is named Lisa [edit: MARY] in Part I (something I forgot) so it should be her.

You've watched it too, rikastar? Did you like it? Wasn't Carina gorgeous? Oh, btw - she is Eric's wife, not mistress and Edison gets slapped 4 times !!!

Oh hehe that explains it, I was wondering about the relevance of that scene. Her face was covered almost the whole time! Btw, you mean Mary, not Lisa right? Carina was awesome, in a movie like this the women are usually just 'vases', but her role was cool.

I'm so happy! I just came back from the theatres, and guess what i saw? haha..

Infernal affairs II!!

well, as much as i dislike Edison's singing, acting, or rapping abilities, i still enjoy looking at him, as he is, undeniably cute. The movie was good, it didn't disappoint me as i thought it might, because i always have an instinct that when a movie gets too much fuss over it, it most likely, will turn out the other way.

However, this one was pretty good in my opinion. First off, it cleared the story, and it was amusing to see all the relationships and friendships between the characters that was covered and drowned in the first movie.

The acting, well...Edison didn't really show up as much as i hoped he would, and when he did, it wasn't anything suprising or showed any signs of drastic improvement in his acting. Shawn Yu however, did a better job than he did, i think. Personally, i dislike Shawn, i never had a good impression of him, and never cared about him. I still don't, mind you, but his acting wasn't half as bad as i thought it would be, not great, not as good as Tony Leung, but he wasn't horrible.

One thing about this movie, was that it had more violence, blood, and action. The gunshots kept startling me, it would be dead silent, and suddenly BOOM. A lot of the times, unexpected.

And i'd like to comment on both the Infernal affairs movie, is that i love the music, i think it really adds to teh effect of this movie.

All in all, i don't regret watching this movie, and i can't believe i'd almost cried, at a few parts of it. Though i'm not too sure i want to watch the third one that i hear they're trying to make, a movie usually turns bad when it gets dragged on too long, and i don't even understand how they can make a sequel, as those of you that saw this movie, we know what happened at the end.

Hey folks - sorry about the typing error I made earlier. I meant Lisa said sammi's character is MARY.

I actually enjoyed Francis Ng's acting in IA2. He
was brilliant. He does not look at all like a triad king - I mean, just look at the other "Tai Kors" with gaudy shirts and heavy accessories around the wrist and neck and the trademark rough talk.

Francis was real cool and calm. I didn't like him before because he's good at playing a villain. But I like him in his IA2 role.

Note : IA2 = Infernal Affairs 2.

so sorry guys. got too excited there. :whoops: :imstupid:

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

fave ppl in the show.. Shawn Yue Man Lok  , Francis Ng and ' Sor Keung'!
i've always liked Francis Ng and he was so cool in the show..
Edison was blah. he didn't get to do much in the show and only had a few lines. he looked cute though..
and shawn Yue!i already got a bad impression of him but ..aiyah.. i'm trying to forget those pics..! i think he is just toooo cute..his eyes are so big.. .him being related to the Ngai family was surprising.did he really feel sad when Francis Ng died or was he mad cos he wouldn't be able to get back into the police force?? i cried when he saluted the policeman at the cemetary..... i think he's a much better actor than edison chen..
eeehh.. that guy was in the gay movie with another chinese guy!

eh Carina Lau is beautiful as always.. but the way she died was too fake i thought. and pity Edison! wasn't he slapped too many times?! the slaps sounded so hard, like punches.. the sound effects were too much ...hahaah.

and they cut out the part where eric tsang killed the whole Ngai family... i was so grossed out at the pics.. omg. :(

now i'm downloading both infernal affairs 1 and 2 to see the censored parts and drool at shawn..

Sigh ... Mei Yee... I was kinda looking forward to the gory, violent scenes that the others mentioned here but we Malaysian saw none of that , right? But thankfully, the whole plot was not messed eventhough the censorship board snipped a chunk out of it.

oooh... spoilers! haha... it's too bad francis ng dies in the movie. ahhh... still gotta wait to see it. and edison gets slapped 4 times. ouchie! yeah, that ah yu girl at the end is the young mary. but it's just one scene of her. who played the young elva? anyone know? and it's interesting how shawn is linked to the triad world through the ngai family. probably something he never expected...

oh, the malaysian gov't edits movies to eliminate the violent parts? :? didn't know that... then do you guys always see edited versions of movies? wouldn't that be a lil' weird? why is the gov't so strict? ok, i know this is getting off topic again, ash. so, just humour me with a brief response.

We don't always see edited versions of movies.. the only movie i know of that was edited was this one? but violent scenes or kissing scenes will be censored or just cut out.haha. i wonder what is the 18 sg/sx/pl for! they are really insulting our intelligence.

i also wanna know who played Elva.. she looks familiar..

wackycashew
10-05-2003, 06:19 PM
oh, so shawn knew that elva is carrying his baby in part 2? :? did he suggest for her to get an abortion? *scratches head* or did elva keep it in the dark from shawn? it was a girl in part 1. elva said that she was her daughter, but didn't tell tony that she was HIS daughter. she purposely fumbled on the age, saying her daughter's 5 years old, instead of 6.

i saw the sequel (i mean prequel :wink2: ) last week..and it was good ! can't compare it with the first one because this one emphasize mainly on the characters. the pace was slower (not the excitement from start to finish like the first one) but it was still quite enjoyable to watch. especially the acting ! i really like anthony wong and eric tsang.
looking forward to wu jian dao III in december !!

oh yeh..when the film finished most people (including us) still sat there (probably b/c a lot of us knew they'd show a short trailer of the third one)..and it turned out to be a super short one (like less than one minute)..which was like showing quick snap shots of the main characters..and people started booing (it was so funny..hee  )

btw..something unrelated to this topic...but i saw posters of "hiddentrack" at the cinema! and it will be in cinemas on 13th november...can't wait ! :D

WHAT!!!!! There was a sneak preview of Part III ? ARGGGGHH!!!!!! I would have waited if I knew.

I'm so ignorant. I didn't even know that Beyond sang the sound track until I read about it yesterday. Maybe I should just go watch it again since it's still playing here.

wackycashew
10-11-2003, 04:12 AM
haha... yeah, beyond did the title track for part 2. i wonder why though. i like beyond, but i always these movies would just get the actors to sing. so, in this case, i thought maybe edison and shawn would do the theme. it was interesting to know that beyond ended up doing the theme song. wonder what it sounds like. anyone know the name of the song?

and i just read a tidbit today in the entertainment news. apparently, this part 3 may just be a sequel to part 2, but a prequet to part 1. since you all know that tony got killed in part 1, how would they bring him back? it's gonna be in the form of memories or something like that. (which would also explain why eric tsang's back as well.) not too sure what's going on in terms of the plot. leon lai's gonna be part of the police force. oh, and there will be some romance scenes of tony with kelly chen in part 3.

cmy_185
10-11-2003, 11:04 AM
yeah i heard that for Part 3 it would be flashbacks .. and leon lai was one of the unnoticed guys with edison chen when they were posted to work in the police force..

Let me get it right.
Part III = Prequel to Part 1.
Part III = Sequel to Part 2.

If it's prequel to Part 1, then Tony & Eric are not dead yet, right? :glug:

Right, Lisa?

Whatever it is, I am NOT looking forward to any more romantic moments between Tony and Kelly. I did not feel any chemistry there. But I'm confused, in Part 1, we saw their mutual interests so... if it's a prequel, wouldn't they be less friendly than what we saw already? And it can't be a sequel cos Kelly would be romancing a ghost.

I'm like

wackycashew
10-13-2003, 06:15 AM
i don't know, ash. i'm a lil' confused myself. but the news article sad that it'll be flashbacks, so maybe part 3 really is a continuation of part 1. but since both tony and eric are dead, they can only appear in people's memories. that's my wild guess right now. and i have no idea why tony and kelly would be that intimate if they were only sorta starting things out in part 1. i thought that they would show more of the romance b/w elva and tony to explain what happened there and the daughter scenario.

aznbballer
10-13-2003, 09:34 AM

saw the movie, its not that i didn't like it or anything just that i thought it was too draggy. but i like how the movie was connected all the way and you can see loopholes and the development of the character to how they became who they are in part1. however, i find it irritating at one point cos i know who is gonna die and who aint.

as for the actors, i thought all of them were okay except for the Luk Sir - by right he should be a cool fella but he looks more like one of the extras in the movie. i tot edison and shawn didn't carry their part that well, don't know why to me it wasnt that convincing most of the time.

okay i think this is the proper arrangment:
part 1 = ending
part 2 = beginning
part 3 = middle

btw, i don't know if anyone know this. for the malaysian ending andy lau came out with his hands up on the air and then the police took him into custody. but there is another version that is in HK - andy lau came out after shooting gordon lam and then he said to everyone "chi kei yan" means own people so in other words the bad guy won. for malaysian standard (sorry i don't which stupid fella put down this rule) in a movie the bad guy cannot win so thats why they change the ending.

overall i still think it's a must watch if you like infernal affairs 1 cos then you will know what's it all abt. btw, i think that the topic title should be either "Mo Kan Tou" or "Wu Jian Dao" and not "Mo Jian Do" cos it sounds like a mixture of canto and mando.

(ashley: nope i aint any of shawn or edison's fan though i think both of them are good looking but thats not the reason i felt sleepy watching the movie.)

it's refreshing that the producers of the 'infernal affairs' tries to create their own version of something like the 'star wars' chronology

actually i preferred if andy lau and tony leung act instead of edison and that other guy(forgot his name :wink2: )
the former are much better actors

just look at how edison speaks...he's obviously memorising the english words!

I thought it was a continuation, but anyway, either way it's going to be heaps cool!

Even if Edison and Shawn are going to be the leads this time, i think it'll be refreshing to have newbies, i mean if they're never given a chance, how will they ever become oldies like Andy and Tony right?!

Anyway, i reckon Shawn's got hella potential in acting...he was the lead in "Ai Qing Bai Pi Shu"...it's this taiwanese show...heaps sweet, and he was ....

Can't say the same for Edison though, even though he's acted in quite a few movies, he's acting still seems abit..umm...not quite there I guess!

YS, I like Anthony Wong too! He so deserves all the awards that he's been getting.

But for all three IA installments, I think Eric Tsang should have won something somewhere.

You know how Andy Lau and Tony , Anthony and Eric are always pitched against the other in the Best Actor adn Best Supporting Actor categories? It's really sad that they don't give out a tie in the ceremony. Although I'm for Anthony all the way, I do feel sad that Eric goes home empty handed.

As for Tony vs Andy, Tony gets my support anytime.

And then there's Leon....
I was crazy about him once. Somehow, as I grew older, I grew out of my crush on Leon too. I can't call him a good actor because his eyes (ngan-sun?) is always the same.

Leon said he won't accept anymore HK music awards during his 99 concert. It was a big shock to everyone, but it's his choice. He doesn't want to play the "games" in the music awards. You know how it's all rigged. If you don't show up, you don't get an award type. Also, everyone who attends tend to get a share of the meat.

Here is what my friend told me:

Brad Pitt bought the rights to this movie and is soon going to start the production of this movie in the distant future.

Just wanted to know from others if any of you have heard about this too.

Jay'z 1, thanks for the info. i heard about this quite a while ago actually. and it's probably been mentioned before. thanks though.

panda_shine, i totally remember those leon days. i was still a teenager then. heehee... i think for some guys, they tend to look more distinguished when they age.

newbiw, i thought that was a very brave attempt on leon's part. i think awards are meaningless if you know the award shows are rigged.

ashley, i guess anthony seemed to have been favoured over eric in this series. maybe it was the good guy vs. bad guy thing. but anthony is one awesome actor. not that eric isn't. but for this movie, i liked anthony more. and yes, tony all the way! i don't care if it was only one vote over andy. i think tony is still a much better actor. he plays all of his roles very well. :D

destined, i guess leon just couldn't be bothered about them anymore. let the other artists duke it out... haha...

candy, i read some reviews on the third parts. seems like tony stole the show despite only appearing in flashbacks. and leon did a great job, too. though his character was kinda underdeveloped. and andy's acting was just ok cuz he didn't have much room to shine. it seems that this part 3 was really intricate in detail and leaves the audience to piece the puzzle together. but as a whole, it might not have hung together very well. anyway, i guess i'll have to be the judge of that when i get around to watching it.

ashley
12-24-2003, 03:58 AM
Lisa have you watched it? IA3 is the worst out of all three parts It's so out of sync with the other two that it made me feel like another set of directors and writers did it.

If not for the formidable bunch of actors (Read: TONY LEUNG ), I'd have boo-ed. The lame ending in particular, is such a BOO.

When I read the credits before the movie and saw the names of Karina Lau and Sammi Cheng as guests, I was so excited. But when they did appear, it might as well be edited and removed altogether. Such a waste of effort.

I didn't quite mind the flashing between past and present but I can still find looopholes like;

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

- What happened to kelly Chen? Was she murdered?

- What happened to the information in Kelly's computer? How did Andy use it?

- How did Tony face Eric after he was hurt in the fake arms trade incident?

- Why was Leon so careless as to get shot by Andy since he's supposed to be such a genius?

- Why doesn't Andy die? Wasn't he shot at many times?

Why? WHY? WHYYYY??????

*SPOILERS*

Ashley...I think Kelly Chen died. Cuz Andy Lau confessed that he was a mole and after that, BOOM! and the screen blacked out...so I assumed he shot her. Question is: If there were only two of them in the room, and if he shot her, how come nobody reported him? :?

Also, in the very beginning, IF I didn't notice wrongly...when they did a re-enactment of the rooftop scene, acting out Andy Lau's testimony...The Tony Leung in that scene had no moustache, while in the actual IA I, he had moustache.

Another thing...there was a scene which said *7 Days Before Yan's Death*...In that scene, Tony had no moustache, totally clean-shaven, but when he did die...he had a full grown moustache...:?

I think their planning was not good enough. hehe, but I still liked it more than IA II...maybe because IA II had no Tony Leung

One last thing, just to be sure...Leon Lai is actually a good policeman, who pretends to be a mole, right?

Nunchakus.... I noticed the moustache thing too. Tony was NEVER clean shaven in IA1, I think. he looks cute like that  .

I've been trying to really re-analyse the show in my head.

More questions.

-If Leon is good, what kind of transaction did he exchange with Eric (eg in the library)?

-And if he had the evidence to capture Andy (the tape which, irnoically, Andy stole from Leon) what the heck was he waiting for?

-Wouldn't wise Leon have installed a camera to capture Andy red handed in his (Leon's) office, since he made the phone call and predicted correctly that Andy was indeed in his office?

- That mainland Chinese cop, he's supposed to have a brother with him in the triads.... was that a cop too? The one who got hit by the ashtray.

ARRRGGGH!!!! So many mysteries unsolved.

Yah!! And the anguish/angst that he manages to incorporate into his acting....Makes me wanna run over and hug him and make everything okay.

I ordered the two endings DVD for IA I from Ebay. Waiting for it to come. I wanna see the Andy Lau dying version.

I wish they didn't kill off Tony Leung so early in the show.

Did you catch Tony's wink at the end of IA3, nuncakus?
I melted right there in my seat.

And his eyes. HIS PIERCING GAZE !!!!!! :cloud9:
WHen he was rubbing Kelly's hands after her fall, and when they were having that littl talk .... his gaze was so enchanting.

I LOVE TONY!!!! :excited: :excited:
ANd I give Karina my consents.

Ashley, better yet...did you see him look into Kelly's eyes before kissing her....He's such a sexy kisser.

GAAAAAHH!!!! I don't remember the wink though. :sadangel: Hope the VCD comes out soon!!

I just downloaded the mp3 for the theme song (I'm a little late)...so nice!! And I wanna watch the MV. I used to flip the channel whenever the Wu Jian Dao MV came out, now...I regret!!!

You know Tony Leung has a new movie coming out, this coming New Year? It's with Miriam Yeung. I wanna watch! But he has no moustache there. :(

ashley
12-24-2003, 07:48 AM
Nunchakus - about the wink. It was the flashback where Leon was reminiscing about winning some kind of police cadet award and Shawn Yue was walking out the gate , and when he turned around, he became Tony and in slow motion, Tony *sigh* winked and smirked .

*Off-topic*
BTW, I'm not a big fan of Miriam's so I'm still undecided whether I'd go watch that new one. I think one of them plays a blind character.

nunchakus
12-24-2003, 07:54 AM
Ashley!! OH YES! I remember the wink now!!! :D It's when the gate was closing right? Now that I think of it...I thought the whole young-to-old switching was interesting! And yes, the wink was sexy too!! And he had the moustache there!! :excited:

I don't know about you guys...I like Edison, I think he's cute (but not my type)...but don't you think Daniel Wu (Wu Yan Zu) would have been more suited to play Young Andy? I think they look quite alike!!

12-24-2003, 06:55 PM
haha... i read the spoilers. i couldn't resist since it's gonna be a while before i get to see it.

the moustache or lack of thing for tony... maybe it was cuz he was also filming that movie with miriam (called "subway"? something like that). and yeah, i think one of them acts blind there. anyway, back to IA... i think they were probably careless about the moustache thing. since tony was filming both movies at around the same time, i guess they forgot to "make him up" the way he was in IA1.

and from the reviews, it was pointed out that leon's character was strong at the beginning, but the scripting failed at the end cuz there was no way leon would've gotten shot just like that. and andy shot kelly? whoa... i wish andy had died, too. since tony did...

chloe, in the alternate version for IA1, andy didn't get killed. he was just arrested when he stepped out of the elevator in the last scene. it was such a cheesy ending. totally dumb and incohesive with the rest of the movie. :glug: ah well... i guess that's what china wanted. the bad guy to be arrested. except that won't make IA3 possible.

ash, tony has got the ultimate sweep-you-off-your-feet gaze... so mesmerizing and electrifying... he's an awesome actor!! i'm so happy for him to get the Jin Ma Award for Best Actor. :) so, all that winking, gazing, smirking, etc.... i can just imagine.

EDIT:
ash, i just got the new elva hsiao MV featuring the themesong from "Subway", which also goes by the same title. you can check out some movie scenes to decide if you wanna catch the movie or not. it looks quite touching from what i've seen. =)

Waah! I haven't watch any Infernal Affairs series. I still have yet to find a VCD of this somewhere at our local Chinatown. I'll search for it next week. :wink2:

There's already a 3rd part and I still haven't seen anty? :depresse:

Tony is one of my favorite actors. I hope I'll find a VCD of this next week.

It's really good, right?

kahel: IA1 was really good. i liked it a lot. i haven't seen the other 2 parts yet, so i can't say how good/bad they are. but apparently, they weren't as good as the first installment of the movie. in any case, i'd wanna watch all 3 for completion. and yes! tony is one of my favourite male actors, if not THE fave. :D i watched him in several tv drama series when i was younger. he's sooo good!

Thanks for all the info Lisa!!! :hugz:

About the moustache...they could have put on a fake one for him too, no? :? Heheh, then again...who cares. He is so hot! And he is 41! But age doesn't matter...I like them all the same. :brows:

I guess Leon Lai had to be killed off since IA III is called "Zhong Ji Wu Jian"...which roughly translates into uhm...the final has no spies? So I guess, they just had to conveniently kill everyone off.

wackycashew
12-25-2003, 05:08 AM
np, chloe. check out that "subway" MV. tony looks really sweet there. and i don't really care about how old he is. i guess i sorta grew up watching him and i've loved him from the beginning. =) i still remember watching his Police Cadet TV drama series parts 1 & 2. the first part came out in 1985. i didn't watch it when i was 5, but later, cuz my grandpa had recorded the series. but i was still quite young. ^0^ that series also had carina lau and maggie cheung. basically, a lot of the current top stars were fresh faces in that series. anyway, i'm getting way off topic here...

back to IA... i think in part 3, they probably overlooked the moustache thing. i'm sure they could have given him a fake one. but in some scenes, i guess they just forgot that detail. kinda careless though considering all the scenes were supposedly put together so intricately. and yeah, i guess they had to kill off leon in the end somehow. oh, that "wu jian" part of the title... i thought it was just to go with the whole "infernal" theme... not sure... cuz "zhong ji" is like the very end, but "wu jian" is that idea of being without boundaries... going back to that whole identity crisis thing of being a cop and being a mole... hmmm... anyway, i really hope to watch this sometime. =)

Oooh Lisa! *hugz* Thanks for that MV link! :excited:

ash, tony has got the ultimate sweep-you-off-your-feet gaze...

You got that right alright.  :cloud9:
I feel like such a schoolgirl.

I watched Police Cadet too and that was how I started being infactuated with Tony. It also starred Lau Ching Wan who made such a cute couple with Carina. Tony's real life ex Maggie tsang played his main squeeze in Part 2.

Later on, I stopped liking Tony when he permed his hair (it was the 80s trend). But when I watched Chungking Express (I may have gotten the title wrong), which he starred with Faye Wong.... I started to like him all over again.

Anyway, I have a confession, Nunchakus. When he kissed Kelly, I had my eyes closed. I couldn't bear to watch that scene because I dont like Kelly.

Yes, I'm weird like that. :bleh:

nunchakus
12-25-2003, 03:56 PM
Lol...Ashley!! I had to *force* myself to watch it, although I was cringing inside!!! Not cuz I don't like Kelly, but you know...just a general jealous sentiment! And I wanted to see how good a kisser he was...Oooh...so sexy!!

I happened to watch this other movie which he acted with Michelle Reis (Li Jiaxin) and Kenny Bee. He had a kissing scene with her too. And I was ....

She's gorgeous and all, but I don't quite like her that much.

Edit: It's the same with Jay. I had to force myself to watch him kiss in Qing Tian...

ash, tony is such an awesome actor. and so sweet, too. i love him and carina together.

oh yeah, i remember lau ching wan in that drama, too. and yes, i saw part 2 with maggie tsang. i still liked part 1 more. and i remember watching chungking express. it was so abstract, as with all wong ka wai films, i know. but i've always enjoyed tony's acting. heehee...

anyway, just wanted to share some IA info. just read from entertainment news at ming pao news that there is an extended version of IA3, with 8 added scenes, 12 minutes in total, i believe. there are more parts of leon, chen dao ming, and kelly, i think. and there will be a rooftop scene b/w leon lai and chen dao ming. they haven't decided which version will get released on VCD yet. for IA2, the extended version of 2 hours and 40 minutes will be released on VCD. :D

nunchakus
12-29-2003, 04:46 PM
What?! Extended version!!?? Leon, Chen Daoming & Kelly Chen...where's TONY LEUNG?!?!?!? :sadangel:...

Btw, when I rewatched the show on DVD, I noticed that, well, actually Andy Lau was kinda cute too. Just that...his eyes are not as... as Tony Leung.

When will the extended version be released, Lisa? Any idea? Thanks for the tidbit!!

wackycashew
12-29-2003, 07:38 PM
chloe, the article only pointed out those 3 names. i think it was so they can more clearly explained the story. and it's gonna be shown in theatres now for the same ticket price. i guess it's to satisfy those who wanna understand the whole story as well as trying to jack up the profit for the movie...

i have no idea when IA2 will be released... it should be pretty soon... when was it shown in the theatres? usually, the VCD is released a month or two after the movie has been taken off the cinema screen, right? :?

i just watched IA 1 a while ago... it was one of the best HK productions... i love the whole story, even though it was quite sad... the actor's performances were exceptional (esp Tony's)... do anyone know if tony and/or andy starred in IA 2?... the posters just gave me the impression that Edison and Shawn took their place... i think IA 3 is out now right?... i can't wait to see the whole series!

nunchakus
12-30-2003, 03:48 AM
Jessica, Tony Leung and Andy Lau didn't star in the movie...but there were only one or two scenes which were flashbacks of the scenes in IAI.

Lisa...Thanks! I guess, being the infernal fanatic that I am...I'd still fork out the money to better understand the story...But no Tony? :sadangel:

wackycashew
12-30-2003, 05:20 AM
oh chloe, there'll still be tons of tony in IA3. just not in the extended portion. but he's got quite a few scenes, i believe. :D and with his acting skills, i think he even stole the spotlight from andy... :wink2:

jessica, edison starred as young andy and shawn starred as young tony in IA2. so, andy and tony aren't really in it. and IA3 is being shown in theatres in HK right now. and probably elsewhere, too. so, it'd be a while before that comes out on VCD.

yup... just saw the movie last week and must admit i am still pretty much in awe w the movie.. the whole series is really excellent and although my personal fav would be the secong one, the cast for the last series was really good..

Tony Leung really excelled in the movie for me and just shows his everlasting appeal.. haha.. Andy looks pretty wierd in his crew cut though..

the whole series is definitely a collector's item...

it was pretty amazing how andy did not die at the end though.. must say Leon in IA3 was pretty good as well..

suede, i heard that leon did a good job in IA3. i think he's improved a lot in his acting, even earning a best actor's award last year (?), i think. and i heard he did well in that "shuang xiong" movie with ekin cheng. anyway, i agree about the IA series being a collector's item. i think it's one of the best all-time films in HK. :D and tony will always have his appeal as an actor. to me anyway... i think andy looks a bit stiff at times when he acts. but he sure has been nabbing some big awards musicwise. =)

i wasn't too happy when i heard Leon's in IA3... since ppl gave him good reviews for his acting, i really want to see how he improved... talking about stiff... i think Leon's kind of stiff... it seems like he have this depressed expression all the time... but that'll be good for dramatic roles.

I've only seen the first one as well...
There were a few plot holes (I forgot what they were though), but otherwise it was fine.

I really dun like how they got different actors to play the guys when they were young...
Should've just gave Andy and Tony a bit of makeup and wrinkle removal ^_^

And yah, I heard the second and third weren't as good. I personally felt that they should've just left it as it was. The prequel/sequel thing seems to just be milking off the franchise :(

And has anyone heard about the Hollywood version? The rights were bought a long time ago... it'll be starring Brad Pitt. I dun think it'll be as good as the HK version though ^_^

yummieboba

HOLY COW, Brad Pitt?? I'd heard about a Hollywood version, but I didn't know Brad Pitt was going to be in it! I'd definitely go see it, but I find that it would be hard to make it as good as the original one. But oh well, we'll see, it should be interesting! Wonder when it'll come out. thanks for the piece of info, scarletwillow!

Hmm.. still reeling from the Oscars fever. But anyway, it just occured to me that IA1 should have been nominated for Best Foreign Picture in 2002/2003 Academy Awards.

No why wasn't it? :hmm:

scarletwillow
03-01-2004, 07:40 AM
Yummie: Haha, no problem ^_^ I read that bit of info on a very reliable HK movie review site... sorry, dun remember what it was :(

Ashley: There are several reasons, I think.
Plot holes is one... a lot of things don't add up... I'd have to watch it again to remember, but I do recall realizing that a lot of the plot was sorta messed up if you examine it closely.
Also, there's the question of casting... those cameos by Edison Chen and that other guy (forgot his name... played Tony Leung when he was younger)... horrible casting. I know it's all about cameos, but they didn't resemble their older counterparts at all. Just a little gimmick...
Character development is also very very short. There was absolutely no development between the Tony Leung and Kelly Chan characters... a huge huge huge shame, because Kelly Chan's character was one of my favorites... dunno why ^_^() Remember how Tony just tells her one scene, hey, I love you... That was really, really, spontaneous. Bringing up his former love was interesting too, but underdeveloped.

The only good romance of course, is Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng's... they should be a couple--their onscreen chemistry is awesome! (watch Needing You :D)

From a film critic's perspective, IA1 was a film that wasn't quite "spectacular"... rather, it was just wonderful because it reinvigorated the HK movie theatres with something more than a cheesy romance or high-budget action movie. As many people put it, before IA1 came along, the HK movie industry was going stale.

Despite the flaws, I still love the movie... probably my favorite action/drama movie ever ^_^

ashley

Scarletwillow - I accepted the plot of Part 1 with all its flaws because I knew they intended to answer some questions in the sequels. The intrigue was an adrenalin rush for me. However ,like the Matrix trilogy, I was disappointed with how the 3rd part ended. Shifting between past and present made things confusing and I can still name some of the unresolved plots. (Oh - I think I already did in some pages before this.)

About the young actors, if you watched Part 2, Shawn Yue captured some of Tony's facial expressions and body language. But this was only towards the end. Throughout the show, you just wonder how they were playing on character. Of course, as agreed by many, Edison was a failure. Someone suggested that they should have casted Daniel Wu as a young Andy Lau and I see the striking resemblance too.

As for the actresses, love Karina Lau as I may, none of them stood out in all 3 parts. Elva's character became totally unnecessary as it does not bear any weight even in Part 2. Oh well, perhaps I have answered my own question now.

Here's an article about the American version of IA.

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,13498,00.html?newsrellink

According to insider `Aero', Leonardo DiCaprio has near officially signed for the "Infernal Affairs" remake.

"Leo's going to be playing the undercover cop who wins a pass in the gang. He's just waiting on the revamped script - but seems happy. Pitt's signed to play the gang member who infiltrates the cops - great fit for both", he says. "It'll be a two-hander".

I really hope it goes through and that Leo and Brad are going to be in the final cut. I am a huge fan of Leo and Brad too. This is the best news that I have heard all day. :excited:

I also heard from a Leo message board that... the director of the Hong Kong film version was interviewed by the paper. He was very impressed by the casting. He said that he'd like to visit the set and take a picture with Leo. He seems like a big Leo fan. The headline in the Hong Kong paper highlighted Leo's name while Brad Pitt's name was only mentioned in passing.

thanks KaiLien! so, Leo's gonna play Tony and Brad will play Andy? :excited: woohoo! sounds great already. can't wait to find out who the rest of the cast will be. =) and i wonder how much they will revamp the script.

Wow, Aniston, Pitt, and Dicaprio all in one? sounds.. star heavy? I dunno hehe. I'm kind of disappointed about Leo dicaprio though.. I don't really like him that much. (I think it was cuz of titantic -- didn't do it for me at all).. then again, i wouldn't know who to star if i was director or something. I kind of don't want a Hollywood version of Wu Jian Dao.. I mean, there's no way it could be the same! Oh well, it might just be my personal bias. Bleh, I'll still go see it when it comes out though, must be in a long time.

KaiLien, where does it say that Leo's going to be starring in the article? Don't see it.. ah well. we'll see. thanks for the link!

I truly like their(Tony Leung and Andy Lau) performance in IA... :)
they've proven their incredible acting skills in the three movies...
without the strong cast,i don't think IA will get the credits....

I read about Leo's involvement in IA too. But I can't see him in either roles. He's just too stereotyped as a lady's man, I guess. I don't like Collin Farrel but I think he would make a better mole. Leo? I don't know .. :hmm: He's got this smiley face, if you know what I'm trying to say. We need someone with that subtle "worried" look that Tony masters at.

wow....this will be interesting!!!!! i wonder how it'll match up to the hk production....heh

i haven't watched infernal affairs 3 yet, but i heard it was VERY BAD...

here are some bit torrent links for those who wish to download the movies! :) i'm not too sure if they work, coz i have no space left on my hard drive to download them =( plus i'm downloading a couple of other movies right now, and i don't quite want to crash my system!

Infernal Affairs 1 - 700mb (http://www.webpost.net/ro/roche/NTF-InfernalAffairs.torrent)
Infernal Affairs II - 1396 Mb (http://www.webpost.net/ro/roche/InfernalAffairsII.torrent)
Infernal Affairs III - 1191 Mb (http://www.webpost.net/ro/roche/InfernalAffairs3-LongEditionby.BT-Power.torrent)

Right click, save as...
then double click on the torrent file that u downloaded and it should start up....
u need to have the bit torrent program set up though!

For the downloads: You don't need to right click the torrent file and save it, just directly left click it and save it where you want it. For non-torrent users or even existing users, I highly suggest the Bittorrent Experimental Version where you can control your upload speed. You might get nailed for "transferring data" if your upload quota is too high for the month or you may just get charged for it.

Anyways, I've watched all three and as mentioned everywhere, the first one was the best. I mean, two veteran actors Tony Leong and Andy Lau with Shawn Yue and Edison as cameos was great for a movie. Not only were the actors great, the story flowed. The second one had a really dark feeling to it, I mean a lot of the times the scenes had really bad lighting, at least that's what I felt. IA3 was just weird. They jumped around a lot in terms of time and I found that awkward and confusing.

Do yourself a favour if you're going to watch it, watch IA2, IA3, then IA. If you start with IA and wait a large amoutn of time between seeing them, you'll be really disappointed. I mean IA3 wasn't that disappointing to me because I watched them all within weeks time. I couldn't imagine people waiting a year for the movie to hit the big screen and see that.

PS, Leon Lai scared me with his looks in that movie! And oh.. Elva looked AMAZZZZZZZZINGLY hot in IA. :)

I just finished watching Infernal Affairs I and II. I REALLY like I..the acting was absolutly superb. But II left me really confused. It didn't explain anything, and just kind of threw everything at you and expected you to figure it out for yourself. Does anyone want to give me a recap on it? :shy:

I'm d/ling the IA's from Echizen, and they haven't come out with part III yet...but at the same time, I'm not willing to d/l a 1.2 GB movie, b/c I'm afraid I'll crashmy hard drive as well :D

Here's an update of the America remake:

I got the source here: http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com and www.imdb.com

It's in pre-production right now. The filming will start in April in Boston. It will be in theatres in the year 2006. ( I have to wait so long to compare the both.)

I think the title "Infernal Affairs" would sound more interesting than "The Departed". Well, that's just my opinion. I thought Brad Pitt would be playing Andy Lau's part.

infernal affairs definitely sounds better than the departed! i found out the cast a while ago too; it included, i think, cameron diaz, and .. well, i had it all written down somewhere. oh well. i don't know if the american version will be as good as the original, but i'm always like that, wishing that they wouldn't remake these things.

i just watched infernal affairs III yesterday and i am SO confused. what was going on? with ming (andy lau)? and shen? and the guy with the sunglasses? and dr lee (kelly chen)? it's so incredibly confusing. i definitely liked the first one the best.

Same here! When I watched it, I was like, "What the heck is going on???". I'm pretty sure Infernal Affairs III is pure flashbacks. I don't really remember anything now, but as I remember it just kept on popping scenes with Tony Leung, and than something and something. I just got lost during that movie.

i just watched Infernal Affairs II today. i thought it was ok but the first one was still better. What is the third one like? Might get it when it comes out here in the UK.

i agree. The Departed doesnt sound as good as Infernal Affairs. it sounds more like....... an airport film :S

I thought IA III was the weakest of the three. Sure it stirred up alot of surprising stuff and one scene with Andy Lau trying to crack open this door was pure genius but I still thought part one and two were alot better.

Infernal Affairs the US Version (yes the Departed and I agree it sounds like the Terminal's twin brother) I know wont be as good as the original. Andy Lau and Tony Leung are the best and even Hollywood will have to admit it. Leo will do ok with Martin Scorsese around but I have doubts about Matt Damon.
And look at the producer list. Jennifer Aniston, Brad Grey, Brad Pitt, Martin Scorsese. Jen and Brad are working together??? really?

I have seen all 3 of Infernal Affairs, I like them all, especially the first! There are many scenes that come unexpecting! It is Infernal III that Kelly Chen is in! Infernal II has Sammi Cheung and Elva Xiao that guest star in it! Infernal II is what happened before Infernal I and Infernal III is a continuation of Infernal I.

Finally, I was able to watch this movie. The first one only though. I think I'll be able to watch until the second one. The important thing is the first one...I made me feel like shouting, "Nooooo!" It was well made. Not too rushed unlike some HK movies. Some actors are the same in initial D, right? Ha-ha! Good actors --> good movie... I really hope so.

American remake... Hmmm... cast are good but I hope they can live up to the original.

Yeah thats right, a few...Chapman To, Anthony Wong, Shawn Yue, Edison Chen...wait thats four! whoa!!! thats alot. Oh and dont forget the directors Alan Mak and Andrew Lau. That makes six. Sure hope Andy Lau and Tony Leung makes an guest appearance, thatd be super cool.
This movie is like another sequel to Infernal Affairs, but with race cars and Jay Chou...making it way way way better.

I think the first one was the best. The follow ups are just putting everything into shreds and bits. I don't think I need those. The plot was very mafia. Spreads that kind of fear and intensity we want. I hope there are more HK movies like these.
