Hello, I can't read the words that are written in chinese. What I see is only boxes.
How do I change the settings and where do I change it? Or do I need a programme?

U need MS windows XP
inside XP no matter what country u are it ALREADY KNOWS all the language on earth

u just have to tell it to use them
u goto control PANEL and in regional settings<<<dont know if i got all the names 100% right

then inside that on the top area u can see 3 things: regional option, language, advanced

well goto LANGUAGE first which is the middle one....then click INSTALL FILES FOR EAST ASIAN

DONT worry it doesnt needs CD or anything it just goes away do es it on its own and u wait until it finishes loading about 3 mins

then u have to restart comp so the changes take place..... then repeat same thing
BUT this time in regional and language options<<<<<< in the same place LANGUAGE (the middle one) after u click all this CLICK DETAILS

and u have to ADD the chinese keyboard in so u can type chinese
and depends what type of typing u wants
I use chongkit but i bet u want PINYIN well u can choose it too

TO add the keyboard CLICK add after u did all the thing i said above and it open new thing....THEN it says two important things: INPUT LANGUAGE ....KEY BOARD LAYOUT

input language is what u want if u want pinyin input u click CHINESE PRC and it automatic makes the keyboard layout PINYIN

if u want chong kit u click CHINESE taiwan then in the KEYBOARD LAYOUT u have to click it urself to find CHINESE (traditional) chanjie

its really long process i just followed it from internet but U DONT NEED TO install anything it already knows everything thing u just have to tell it to use it

Ok I also have the same problem . Before I could see chinese words, but I did a system restore so now I see boxes . Anyways you explained to babycookie what to do, but I wanted to make sure something . When you do change the language to Chinese is it either:

1.You also changed the whole windows (that means my computer isn't in english anymore).

or

2.You just made the computer able to see chinese words :wink2:.

The reason for this question is because I don't know how to read/write Chinese I just know some of the words , but still I want to see the words cause sometimes I need to download things and I can't see what it says :-x.

its still english but when theres chinese words it can see it

also it lets u allow to ADD chinese keyboard by doing only how i said to add the chinese keyboard

chinese keyboard means u use english physical keyboard...but in the software its laid out in chinese and u can type it using various methods such as pinyin, chanjie etc...

If u change it to FULL chinese it means u can type chinese and see chinese on almost any applications....If that application comes accross with a chinese word or when u want to type something in chinese in that application ..... application can be applet, msn, icq messager, aim, etc...
