Her new mandarin album is out already while the cantonese version is coming out this week. Anyone know if it is any good?

Also, I'm wondering whether people prefer her singing in mandarin or cantonese. Personally, I'd prefer cantonese.

kelly's cool. she can sing quite well and i appreciate her live singing too.
i've seen this tvb entertainment tonight interview of her some months ago. she's very down to earth and fun! really funny and mischievious at times which you can't generally tell, coz she's seems quite cool and mature.

i prefer her to sing canto. her mando is ok too.

I really like her dancing...she's actually a HK singer that can ACTUALLY really dance...not like the other ones :-x Her songs are really good too...the only album I got of hers is "ASK"...and I really liked it....unlike other people, she has a clear voice...which I enjoy! :) I prefer her singing in Canto too tho...

I think Kelly Chen because she's overall a pretty above average celebrity. She sings pretty well (except some songs suck) she acts pretty well, and she speaks beginning Japanese and is featured in Japan for Aube cosmetics... meaning another Chinese actress in Japan, go Kelly~!

But I don't like her music videos, some of them are horrible. Have you guys seen Flower Universe? That was a rip off of Utada's "Risk" video. She had the same futuristic ride and all... and she danced so bad in there...

Yeah Kelly is pretty versatile. She can pull off fast dance numbers as well as slow ballads.

I like Kelly a lot~ The first time i know of her was from the movie "Xian Yue Piao Piao" with Aaron Kwok~ She is really pretty and i like her eyes~ :laughing:

By the way, i like her songs that are produced by Lei Song De, they sound very retro and stylish in some sense~

Not surprising since she was, and still is, an "idol" singer. Still, she is one of the better ones.

that's the way it is in hk tho. many 'artistes' release 3 or 4 albums a year on average. and you're right. the quantity is there but not the quality, which is why i am very hesitant to purchase their cds coz afraid it might be a waste of money if i only like 1 or 2 songs.
they can afford to release more albums coz they're not the ones slaving away composing, writing lyrics and thinking about the instrumental arrangement, backup vocals and harmonization. they've got ppl in their record companies to do that for them so of course things get done a lot faster than singer-songwriters who have to or want to do things themselves.

I LOVE Ji Shi Ben! It's such a pretty song even though I have no idea what she is singing about! Sounds like she is saying "Coca Cola!" haha

I am a big Kelly fan actually......ever since she emerged in 1994, I was her fan. In the beginning when she was always compared with Faye Wong, I was kinda just observing to see if she really was Faye's shadow. But, it turns out that she is awesome. She is very unique and has her own style. She never has huge rumors in the entertainment section and she poses a very positive image. That's probably why she is in HK's McD's commercials and has a wax figure in HK's wax museum.

I have her cantonese and mandarin album and personally, I think the cantonese one is better. And, I think she sings better in cantonese. The worst thing about what HK artists do is make a re-mix of their songs, like really bad remixes or the release one version of their song in cantonese and then release the same song, just in mandarin. Like, I feel that's a total rip if they just want to make that track #10, cuz they only got like 9 songs in total. And, yes, Kelly does that to her albums too. Although sometimes the mandarin version of the song may sound better than canto, or vice versa. Anyways......enough about that.

No matter what, I think Kelly is one of the better female artists in Hong Kong and she's making it big in Japan as well. You see her ads all over Japan, either for J-phone or Citizen watches. Her popularity is rising over in Japan.

Always wanted a chance to see her live in concert, but too bad......still no chance yet. :?

Hmm... it doesn't seem like there's a lot of Kelly fans here but then again it is a Jay forum. :wink2: I'm a really big fan of Kelly! I love her songs so much. She has this amazing voice which I admire so much. I also admire her good looks, whevever I get a hair-cut, I'll find Kelly's pictures because I love a lot of her hairstyles. Her dancing is pretty good and her movies aren't bad either! :excited:

Oh wow that's so cool! I didn't know she designed the post stamps but I am not too surprised because I believe she graduated from Parsons of NY with a Graphic Design or Fashion Design? degree. I really wanted to get the stamp.. but couldn't find it. ><

I am a Kelly fan as well because as soon as I found out she went to Parsons and studied design.. I was like Cool! Because that is such a famous + popular school, and I want to study graphic design as well.. and I really admire her as a person because she give have this classy image though I don't think her singing is super good. But good enough ;P Oh, and I admire the fact that she can speak fluent Japanese. She's like superwoman to me hehe.

Did anyone listen to songs from her latest Cantonese album - Stylish INDEX? Wowowww :excited: :excited: :excited: I really love her English song at the end -- Love Paradise. It's an English song she used in a commercial (selling high class condos in HK). She's got perfect English and her voice just fits in so well with the melody...so soft~~ :happy:

I'm happy that Kelly has improved AGAIN!!! Her last album was pretty good, but not up to her usual standards. This time Kelly has exceeded her usual and I think this album is worth listening to! Of course, I still dislike it when she makes mandarin songs out of her cantonese ones just to add one more track to her album.... :crazy:

I'm still awaiting the day that I get to go to her concert. :wink2:

I like Kelly Chen's music and her voice a lot, (my favourite song of hers is Phone Kill Order from her Style Index album. It also has a really cool Matrix style video. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1c3ye9gYwaY I also like Kelly's song Free http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=34hiM9TfhH8, but think she's a terrible actress (especially in Infernal Affairs III). Personally speaking though, Faye Wong is my favourite Chinese female singer.
