Hey guys, I was just thinking: Don't you all think this is the year that World Music Awards should acknowledge Jay as Best Taiwanese Selling Artist??? He's inarguably conquered Taiwan, AND Hong Kong, AND Singapore, etc... I know the World Music Awards doesn't give a Best Artist Award for EVERY country, only those that really made a mark. I think Jay has done more than that!!!

I've been listening to his new album the past two days - truly the work of a MUSICAL GENIUS. Sometimes, all the fans, craze, good looks, pictures, etc... kinda label him as a typical pop star, but he offers SO much more than that. Western artists should listen to this album; there's no way they won't be impressed when they learn that all the creativity comes from one man!

By the way, I can't find the thread that asked for comments about song #9 on the Ye Hui Mei album, so I'll write my comments here: THE BEST TRACK ON THE ALBUM. Jay sounds like a tortured soul!!

Alright, enough of my remarks, hope y'all have a nice day!! Keep supporting Jay (in spirit, if not presence)!!

I have never even heard of the World Music Awards. Who sponsors it? Is it showed on MTV or something?

World Music Awards is hosted every year and It's solely based on record sales. The Prince of Morraco attends the event and it's a big show with a lot of artists from around the world. I'm not sure if it's shown on MTV, but I've seen it before on MuchMusic in Canada. So, it's very possible that MTV shows it. Sure hope Jay can get recognized for his music in this way. I think one year Nicholas Tse got the best selling Chinese artist. I forgot what places were included in the calculation of sales though.

edit: oopsies, i guess it's monaco, not morraco. thanks, okay!

World Music Awards is exactly what the name means. It's an awards event that takes place every year in Monte Carlo, Spain, celebrating music from all parts of the world. Whereas many famous music awards take place and award artists from the US, this awards truly embraces music from all around the world. Only the best artists are invited; Prince Albert of Monaco is always a featured guest.

Feel free to check these sites about the upcoming awards, and last year's awards:

Not sure if it's shown on MTV first or something, but I think ABC shows it because one year I remember watching it. Either way, if it's shown on American TV, you can count on them not showing any of the Asian artists.

Yah I remember seeing World Music Awards once too! But anyways I definitely agree with you that Jay offers more then any 'pop' star. I really admire his musical talent and that fact that he can write + compose songs and play a lot of musical instruments.

I think ur tokin about the prince of MONACO. :)

If its based on record sales then it sounds very shifty to me, its not based on artistic merit which awards like the GOlden Melody is. Lucky for us that Jay not only deserves awards for creative merit, but also his record sales are HUGE

Ah but not huge enough to get him an award there...don't those artists sell up to somewhere in the millions? Jay has never broken 1 million has he?
Anyways, Ayumi Hamasaki won best Asian Artist one year if I remember correctly, I would seriously be soo excited if they had shown her on TV... :excited: to see one of my favorite Asian artists on AMERICAN tv OMG...and if I got to see Jay on TV..gah I would have peed in my pants

Oh I remember watching this on TV once.. I think it was the year Mariah Carey won an award for the greatest achievement in the 90's. And they only showed about 10 seconds of footage from each non-English performance, with a voice quickly narrating what happened

in true australian style (not any diff to the american style) asian winners will prolly not be shown....in other words, edited out or the commercials will pop on once they get on stage.

if nic tse won something b4, then surely J will be able to win something!

VERY true Karen...I wish American society would know more about Asian artists!

I certainly hope he gets an award...if he doesn't, i'll get REALLY mad! I think like Nicholas Tse got an award last year (or was it the year before that)..but they didn't show it on TV, like he went, but it wasn't broadcasted - when he got the award. If Jay goes, they better SHOW HIM....

its just a really biased world. every thing just HAS to revolve around foreigners (namely americans). its times like these that i feel a little ashamed to be an american (at heart)

you mean the world does not revolve around America :glug:

I dont' really mind that the american society does not know more about asian artists......
I prefer they not actually.

i could not agree more

if americans were to go and exploit asian music like they do with their music...i guarentee that the songs would end up overplayed and overkilled so that those american companies could suck every last penny out of the public as usually b4 moving onto the next cd (this could be what...2..3...4..5. years -______-) and at the same time slaughter the pronounciations of the artists name and songs...

good god what a nightmare...please...dont ever mention that again
