sweet_angel - yup! Im pretty sure Jordan used to be one of the presenters, and then Chin Ka Lok replaced him later on.

About Lofty Waters Verdant Bow...i just cant get into it, i didnt even bother to catch the episodes last week...might give it a try later on to see if its picked up yet. I thought id like it cos the Michelle - Raymond - Rain storyline is something which i would normally enjoy, especially in period drama..and i was looking forward to seeing some form of sequel for Eternal Happiness in Raymond and Michelle being paired together again.

Ive never seen Greed Mask..so i cant really say.. :D

I want to talk about Michelle Ye - she was a Miss HK contestant, right? What do you think of her acting? She was pretty stiff in Golden Faith and she has a worried scowl and frown on her face most of the time.

I think her acting is improving though I still don't like her. I don't know but yeah she always seems to have this look on her face.

Yup.. I thought Triumph in the Skies is a pretty good series. But somehow as I watched.. I gave up.. it's getting too draggy and some parts are really annoying... Well.. the main reason why I watched is..Ron Ng!

Yeah I enjoyed the series too but I have to agree there were some parts that were kind of annoying, especially when Myolie was always trying to get Francis and Flora back together... And yeah, Ron Ng is soo cute!! I didn't like him before until half way through the series and after seeing him on this magazine cover.

I loved the Super Trio Show, and Jordan Chan was one of the presenters, but I don't seem to remember him being in the show for long. But I love the older series more, the ones where they have to eat the wasabi filled sushi and the foot massaging segements.

Just watched the end of Net Deception and Lady Fan last night and it was everything I expected to be but didn't really care what happened in ND because it got kinda boring towards the end. I really hated the romatic sences with Tiffany and Wong Hei.

hey, have posts been deleted form this thread;cos its now only 34 pages when it was 45+ before....

me too, i finished watching ND n LF last week.... but both their endings was expected n kinda boring too....... u could predict who was going to end up with who

I think that Ada Choi would have been a better actresses to portray the char. of Erica.....

firstly, she has the ability/skills to match the "turbo" Wong He in the series

2. and it would be a pun as well since her mom had all these gambling debts

nupengyou--> yep, i totally agree with you about the boring romance scenes. every time they spoke to each other, it was like they were communicating in riddles. and then every now and then, bits of english would be thrown in. why can't they speak to each other like normal ppl? i think whoever wrote the script tried too hard to make wong hei's character "cool" and "deep". i just felt frustrated. i honestly wouldn't have watched it if it wasn't for the love of wong hei.

about Lady Fan, i really liked the series. the story line was pretty good, although predictable. jessica was sooooo good! i really liked her costumes as well! i felt frustrated and annoyed with Ma Tuk Chung (does he have an english name?) and his stupid family for how they treated jessica. although the level of frustration was bearable. not as bad as Golden Faith when i just felt like turning the TV off! :-x

I just read in our Malaysian newspapers that Jessica Hsuen doesn't ever reveal her age. Is that true? But she does say that she's been in the showbix for 11 years. Oo..* does some mental calculations*

Raymond Lam - I was impressed with him in that serial with Louis Koo where he played the Emperor (Back From the Past?) . Then i disliked his character and silly hairstyle in Golden Faith. And when I tried one episode of Lofty Waters verdant Bow , I've decided I cannot like Raymond Lam.

jessca
03-24-2004, 06:21 PM
nupengyou - i liked the old series too hehe..but i also like the brief series where they had the consecutive tasks that got harder and harder and they had to go in a sort of lift to go to the next task? It was weird hehe... I loved the games where they had to guess what the english person was 'singing'..and i liked the memory game which took the last word of a phrase as the first word of the next phrase. Some guy recited a paragraph instead ot the average 2 word phrases...

sesamestreet - the number of posts per page has been increased from 10 to 15, so all the posts are still here, but as more fit on one page, the number of pages per thread has decreased...

ashley - i have mixed feelings about Raymond. I first saw him on A Taste of Love and i didnt think that much of him. I enjoyed the series as it was really light, and a basic romantic comedy. Then i saw him in Back from the Past too (i cant recall it being called summat different...) and i was impressed as he had improved from Taste of Love.

I think i caught him on Eternal Happiness next. He was the main guy and i loved him with Michelle Yip, but his character was so dumb i wanted to go and slap him several times...He was good in Survivors Law!

Im watching the Angels on Mission 3D now..or is it Mission Angels 3D.. :glug: Its okie hehe...a bit over the top, and a bit weird, but its not bad!

sweet_angel8
03-24-2004, 09:07 PM
:excited: I like Raymond!!! lol, I first saw him on A Taste of Love  he's so cool... I think it's A Step Into the Past that you're talking about? where he was the weak guy at first and then turns evil when he's the emperor? that series was okay... I didn't like the princess and Sonija though.. they seemed so... ugh.... anywho, I'm just about finished Angels on Mission 3D... finally can delete it  took up 3 gigs! lol

jessca
03-24-2004, 09:50 PM
Hehe...so youre a Raymond fan?

And youve finished Angels on Mission? Im only onto episode...12 maybes? The anthrax threats anyway...how many episodes are there?

I was very impressed by Shirleys acting...especially her first scene..she looked genuinely upset! Charmaine is very different, not so girly as usual in her roles. Sonija..i dunno..shes always been a bit weird hehe... :glug:

Teresa: Hehe, it totally annoyed me that they'd always throw in bits of English in their conversation and sometimes it didn't even seem to make sense. It also annoyed me how they never really looked like they were really in love with each other. And Ma Tuck Chung's English name's Joe.

Ashley: Yes it's true that nobody really knows Jessica's real age, but she has once told fans that she was born in 1970 and that she's the year of the dog. So that would make her 34 this year.

Jessca: Haha, yeah the older series were always the most memeorable, oh and I remember the elevator game because Lee Hom was on the show in that series and they made him eat cold spaghetti  The most recent series I watched, they tried to bring back some of the old games but it still wasn't as good as the older series.

I'm currently watching 'Blade Heart' starring Liza Wang and Adam Cheng and 'To Love with no Regrets' with Bosco Wong in it. Blade Heart's kinda boring, because I have no idea what's going on and they speak all formal so I don't understand what they're talking about either.

ker_ai_teresa
03-25-2004, 09:26 AM
oh i remem that episode of the super trio with lee hom! not only did he have to eat cold spaghetti but he was fed by a blind-folded Annabelle, so he had tomato sauce all over his lips and chin. i love that episode, too bad i didn't tape it.

about blade heart, when it was advertised about 2 years ago as one the TVB productions for 2002, they originally had louis koo and i think jessica hsuen, not raymond and shirley. wonder why the change. i was looking forward to seeing louis....well, 2 years ago anywayz.

is angels on a mission any good? it's seems so......charlie's angels. is that what it's like? :?

sweet_angel8
03-25-2004, 08:50 PM
yep!! Raymond fan! =) hehe
there's 20 episodes and it's okay.. nothing outstanding but not bad either.. it's those one's that are there just because lol. it's funny at some parts.. Shirley was pretty good seeing she just entered showbiz. ooo and is Blade Heart any good? my friend watched the first 5 episodes of it and said it was boring  and i was looking forward to seeing it too cuz of... Raymond! lol

jessca
03-25-2004, 10:33 PM
Oh yeah hehe...ive only just rememebred that Lee Hom was on it before! It was such a long time ago...i had only just gotten into chinese music... :D

So theres 20 episodes? Very short... And Teresa, it is very Charlie's Angel-y...with a bit of 24 thrown in cos its about the CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) of HK. But like sweet_angel said, its funny, so it keeps you entertained. If you dont have anything else to watch, i would recommend it.

Blade Heart...ive seen the MV of the song Adam Cheung sings, so ive seen clips from it. Its very much like your average period drama, but its impressive to have both Adam and Lisa starring in it. I guess Raymonds a plus for us hehe....i prefer him in period dramas.

sesamestreet
03-25-2004, 11:32 PM
nupengyou: me too... i found Blade Heart very boring too....the no. of characters and the relationship/conflicts between them are confusing

as with Love With No Regrets it was funny but then i find Bosco's acting just a bit over the top....thou i have sympathy for Amy Kwok....

apparently: (spoilers) - Mak Bao is goin' to become bad....n Bosco actually loves that "tong mui" girl

Annie Man, who is always wanting to marry, finds love with "Sor Go"

ker_ai_teresa: did u get Blade heart and A Step in The Past mixed up?

jessca: I had diff. expecations for Angels 3D..... i thought it would be really "sissy" ...cos both Charmaine Sheh and Shirley Yeung (those "dar ching") are both in it

n all three would end up fighting each other over a boy

but actually not too bad so far

did u hear the ending song (the 1 that they play when the credits roll out) with Liza and Adam singing in it  ..... i sounds terrible because Liza tries to sing too high even thou she has those "da hei" background

thou the one for Love with No Regrets is not the best either

jessica
03-26-2004, 12:25 AM
jessica: hows riches and stiches? would you recommend it? cos i read somewhere that the ending sucks so i decided against watching it. plus i dun really like anne heung.

i would definitely recommend it!... the series starts off really good and gripping... it's towards the end that it starts to take a different turn... but it's not as bad as you think... it's tolerable i guess.

omg, Lofty Water Verdant Bow... that series was quite boring... thank goodness it have only 20 episodes... it starts off slow with a bunch of slow pace action and dialogue and towards the middle it gets a little better... can't really remember the ending... i watched it cause of Raymond and Michelle.

jessca: i agree with you... a sequel to Eternal Happiness would be nice... i like them a lot in that series... oh, about Truimph... yes, i'm up to the part where they are training... omg, they're so sexy in there uniforms!

nupengyou: the love scenes in ND was really unnecessary (and boring)... but it's a good way for TVB to drag the series longer... the ending wasn't all that special, so you don't have to worry about it.

03-26-2004, 05:33 AM
Btw..Does anyone know What series is Ron Ng filming at the moment?
I heard that he is in this acient series--West Chamber or somthing? And after this series.. what's next then?

I am hoping that he could be in a Modern series..

Raymond Lam is quite good actually.. but Lofty Water Verdant Bow is....not one of his best.. But I love him in SL!!
anyway.. is Angels 3D good? I heard a lot about it..

cinsin
03-26-2004, 06:36 AM
Ooo...Raymond and Shirley's in Blade Heart? I've only seen 2 episodes so far, but it's extremeley boring...can't wait for Raymond to make his appearance though. And I think they had Adam and Liza in the series for the older generation, so the show can appeal to all audiences.

sesamestreet: I think Bosco's acting is a little over the top too, but it's all part of his character and I absolutely love Amy Kwok's character but her hairstyle in the show is

Miss_gun: The series is apparently going to be called Tales of the Western Chamber or Destinies of the Western Chamber. It's funny because I only just noticed that he starred in BFII, I'm guessing that was the firt series he appeared in.

ker_ai_teresa
03-26-2004, 08:53 AM
no i didn't get blade heart and step in the past mixed up. i remem it clearly coz it stars liza and adam as well. doesn't matter. maybe louis didn't want to do it.

i'll give that angels one a go....i have time to spare. although i don't much like shirley or sonja, and charmaine is ok. just realised....this series encapsulates the invasion of the Miss HKs.

Phyxius
03-26-2004, 09:13 AM
Can you believe it? NZ jst got the right to play TVB dramas at the start of this month and guess what they're playing? A step in the past and Golden Faith! I mean golden faith is alright but step into the past? That's like 3 years old man!!! Gah! But anyway... better than none...

I reckon it's so unfair that Miss HKs are the dominant actress of TVB, charmaine, Anne, Sonjia, Myolie and Mandy Lee soon? So not-Miss-HK girls cant get a chance to have a part? That's so gay...

ker_ai_teresa
03-26-2004, 09:24 AM
That's so gay...

:lolabove:

hehe....*hiccup*

yeah, too many miss HKs, and most of their acting isn't as good as the non-miss HKs. but i guess that's why TVB bothers to run the beauty pageant so as to get more actresses, and ppl enter it to get faster entry into the entertainment industry.

jessca
03-26-2004, 06:16 PM
Hehe...yeah, we were talking about the influx of beauty pageants in TVB a while ago somewhere..and to be an actress, i guess you gotta be pretty on screen, and thats where you go to look for pretty girls. I was checking an archive once and there were actresses there i never even realised were pageants before.

phyxius - they are both really really good dramas though!

jessica - the training? Thats once of the best parts...eye-candy wise lol...its get better only when they graduate...

sesamestreet - i expected that too! I thought they would be best friends from childhood, fight over a boy, one would turn bad etc...but its not bad. And i was surprised at Charmaines ability away from the girly girl character...and its my first Shirley series, and i think shes really good!

I get a free calendar from TVBs every December and its nearly the end of March.. :depresse: ...it had a piccie of Jay getting an award..its been the closest ive ever gotten to getting a poster on the wall and he's about 5cm² big lol....

sweet_angel8
03-26-2004, 08:42 PM
yeah, most of the TVB actresses now were originally Miss HK winners... what about that series with Roger Kwok, Joey Yung, Tiffany Li and Victoria Jolly? ugh.... i don't really like that Victoria kid.... it really bothers me that she actually won second
anywho, The White Flame ended yesterday! it was funny, i like that series.. even though it was mostly all happy and cheery throughout the whole series it was good.

ker_ai_teresa
03-27-2004, 04:16 AM
hehe, so jessca do you actually have the calendar? i'm a bit confused by your last post.
but even a 5cm-squared J is better than nothing. :D

What's The White Flame? i haven't heard of it yet, i think. :? Who's in it?

Miss_gun
03-27-2004, 04:28 AM
White Flame is a tv series about intern Nurses in the hospital.

Starring Charmaine Sheh, Sammul Chan..
I watched it b4, Teresa. It's quite good:)

JayLovesJolin
03-27-2004, 07:07 AM
I like and watched

Golden Faith=Dunno their names

Love Storm=Vic Chou ,Vivian Hsu,Ken Zhu

Happy Campus=Jerry Yan and some other people
.Thats all i can name for now :)

jessca
03-27-2004, 10:08 AM
hehe, so jessca do you actually have the calendar? i'm a bit confused by your last post.

Yeah hehe...but hes only on the collage of piccies on the March page...so when it gets to April 5cm Jay has to go.. :depresse: Ive been getting the calendar for the past 3 years and its the first time hes been on one of the pages!!

And i really liked the White Flame. It was my first Sammul Chan series. It was a really feel-good sort of series, loads of moral teachings etc...and loads of babies! :D

Golden Faith starred a lot of TVB big names...like Gallen Lo, Derik Wan (?), Myolie Wu, Raymond Lam, Michelle Yip etc.

sweet_angel8
03-27-2004, 08:26 PM
I think my first Sammul Chan series was.. Reaching Out! Benny Chan was soo funny in it  anyone see it?? he kept on saying 'ddep, dep, dep' all the time! and I think Michelle Ye and Gordon Lam was in that series too.

jessca
03-27-2004, 09:13 PM
Sammul was in Reaching Out? :glug:

I saw bits of it, but i couldnt really get into it and didnt bother to catch each and every episode. I i remember correctly, it was also really long..right? :?

I loved the little song they had about their orphanage though hehe...i find myself singing it when its a sunny day!

um.. golden faith was it?
with lo ka leung.. and flora.. that was good=)
also.. burning flame II was good!^^" soso sad in the end..T.T;;
er.. adn um.. there was one more..
oh! the cheung serng wun siu!
with flora.. that old-ish guy.. and ..
oh! it was called triumph in the sky! or skies!
that was a really good series..^^"

sweet_angel8
03-28-2004, 01:38 PM
yep! Sammul was in Reaching Out! He ended up with Michelle Ye and I think Benny was with Nicola. That series was soooo long!!! 50 episodes i think! holy! I understand if they put Golden Faith up to 40 or more cuz it has more plot and stuff... but Reaching Out?? lol

bbsasa
03-28-2004, 03:17 PM
jessica: thanx for the info! i will consider it.

reaching out? i love that show!!! it's one of my fave!! i love the chemistry between gordon lam and kenix kwok. however, i dislike sammul chan and michelle yeh, they seem like they can't really act at all. benny and nicola was pretty funny too!

sweet_angel8
03-29-2004, 09:01 PM
did anyone see that mandarin series with benny chan and charmaine sheh?? it just ended but i missed over half of the episodes lol so i wasn't sure what was happening aha. anyone watched the whole series?

cinsin
03-30-2004, 07:25 AM
sweet_angel8: You don't like Victoria Jolly? I used to dislike her too, but after I saw how much her acting improved in 'Summer Heat', I actually started to like her and she can sometimes be really pretty depending on what she does to her hair and what she's wearing.

I watched the end of BFII the other night and even though I knew that Wong Hei's character was going to die I still ended up crying. I didn't understand the need for his character to be killed off especially when there was oonly 10 mins left in the show

And what's Reaching Out, I don't think I've heard of that series, what's it called in Chinese?

petheads

http://www.spcnet.tv/tvb/reachingout/ReachingOut.jpg

nupengyou, that's the poster for Reaching Out. Although I like most of the cast in the show (Mi Xue was my fave HK actress when I was young), it was way too looooong. Became very draggy.

jessca
03-30-2004, 09:16 PM
nupengyou - you cried aswell at the end of BFII? I cant remember bawling so much watching TV since Fly me to Polaris...it was sooooo sad! And i felt the same as you, so unnecessary! He should have married Maggie and then the three of them would live happily ever after! Seeing Jenny crying on the bed just broke my heart...

petheads - i felt that it was very long too...though the episodes were shorter werent they? If i remembered correctly.. :glug:

Is Victoria Jolly the tall beauty pageant who is half english? I think her dad.... :?

Lain Lang
03-30-2004, 11:11 PM
my fav chinese drama is DIF IV... i think its stands for detective investigate files...and i think it's the fourth...where Louis Koo and Jessica Hsuan made a couple...a loving couple!!!!
and i just love it...!!!! i wish i could see again...

newg
03-31-2004, 02:19 AM
I'm currently watching "Snow Angel" very nice .. ( um.. is that consider as canto?)

I have also watch a lot of hk movies. I like Miriam Yeung.

jessca
03-31-2004, 07:35 PM
newg - you like Miriam? Have you seen Taste of Love? Its a TVB drama which she starred in. She sang the theme song as well..and its a nice romantic comedy with Raymond Lam, Lawrence and Flora. Its quite old, but its one of my favourites for its simplicity.

lain lang - i know DIF is one of the biggest TVB series ever, but i havent actually seen a single one!

sweet_angel8
03-31-2004, 09:01 PM
i saw A Taste of Love before.. quite funny i think... and Raymond was in it! =) that was the first Raymond Lam series i saw i think.

jessca: yep, Victoria Jolly is the half english one.

aw man, i missed the last episode of BFII =( but it's supposedly really sad cuz Wong Hei dies...? too bad... but i think i missed some episodes too =S

jessca
03-31-2004, 09:22 PM
Yeah..it was my first Raymond series too! He was sooo dark then, and thinking back, pairing him up with Miriam seems such a mismatch. Im more used to seeing him with Michelle, Myolie or Rain! :D

Thanks for confirming for me...my mum and sister watched the series with Victoria Jolly and i caught bits of it. I dont know much about her acting...but beauty pageants tend to improve quickly...

Awww...dont get me started on BFII again... It really is really really sad.... :depresse:

Lain Lang
03-31-2004, 09:30 PM
yeah...jessca...i have never seen any one before the fourth, so cant tell much...i saw everything in video tapes...since i dont live in china, taiwan!
i wish i could buy the collection of DIF IV but i cant find it anywhere!

jessca
03-31-2004, 09:32 PM
Me see...ive only just noticed that you live in Brazil!

We rent videos here, and we have satellite chinese channel, so i can still keep up to date with the new series.

The DIF series were released a bit too early for me..i hadnt gotten into chinese dramas by then. My very first was the original Armed Reaction. I guess thats why i love the series so much! They get more and more chilling as you go along though...have you seen any of them?

Lain Lang
03-31-2004, 11:58 PM
it's been a long time that i dont watch canto series...i mean...i used to watch with my mom...and the old ones..cuz...if we got the video tapes it mean that it was realeased a long time ago!
i hav chinese channels now too...but only for the news and stuff...there's nothing really nice to watch there!
armed reaction? i think i never hear of it...
i watched just a few... cuz someones i really get tired of watching...
recently i watched korean dramas...=)
and what is BF?
and amanzily...i didnt watch meteor garden..,

sweet_angel8
04-01-2004, 12:15 AM
BF is Burning Flame, i think BFI or BFII is airing here on the TalentVision channel in viet. i'm not sure if it's called talentvision but it's a mandarin channel lol. it has alex fong and yoyo mung. is that the first or second? lol, sometimes the series with a lot of sequels are confusing =S because in some sequels they change the casts right?

cinsin
04-01-2004, 07:47 AM
Thanks petheads for providing the poster for Reaching Out, just realised that it's showing on tv over here. I think it goes for 50 episodes, I don't usually like long dramas but because I love Lam Ka Tung so much I think I might actually watch it all.

sweet_angel8: The one with Alex Fong and Yoyo is BFII. Yeah it can get confusing sometimes when they change the cast or have a totally different storyline.

Jessca: Your first series was AR? I think mine was DIF. I was expecting them to continue on with the show in the fourth one but they totally changed the whole story, I was a little disappointed because I'd started to love the charcters on the show. I don't know what I'm going to do when they stop making the AR series.

Lain Lang
04-01-2004, 07:25 PM
never watched BF....i think i 'm kind of out of those things...i usually watch the dramas that people recommend me...

sesamestreet
04-03-2004, 01:38 PM
talking about BF.... i think i enjoyed BF 1 more than the 2nd one even thou Yoyo n Alex Fong made such as good couple in there

i think the first one with Joe Cheng, Chin Ka Lok and Wong He as the three good friends showed the comradeship which exists in such as dangerous profession

also Louis Koo as the cool guy made it a worthwhile watch as well

I definily agree... :D

sweet_angel8

lol, yep! louis koo makes it better! =) unfortunately.. one of my friend really dislikes him for some reason...

ker_ai_teresa
04-05-2004, 02:11 AM
louis was definitely good to look at in BF1....he was quite buff back then. but now, i think his work load has gotten to him coz he's lost a lot of weight.
in real life though i don't think he's such a nice guy. you have to expect that from guys who are too good looking.

Lain Lang
04-05-2004, 03:48 AM
i dont know...he seems a nice guy in real life...i watched the way he talks with his co-workers... and i thought he was a nice guy...hahaha!
And he's one of jessica's best friends...

ker_ai_teresa
04-05-2004, 04:39 AM
oh, i just mean things that have happened to him in the past. apparently he spent some time in juvenile detention centre when younger. and there was that incident a few years back about him hitting someone at a karaoke bar...dunno....he just doesn't reflect the good guy image....

sesamestreet
04-05-2004, 04:50 AM
Hard Fate is coming on after Blade Heart and AR4 in HK ...... i think on 12-4

so i hope it shows on TVBJ soon as well as Angels 3D cos i was wanting to watch that instead of "love with no regrets"

apparently, Flora is really hilarious in there...which is unlike her previous roles where she was so a professional woman

also i wanted to see the pairing of Flora n Kevin Cheng as well as Nikki chow.....

but her hairstyle n makeup recently (in TITS and the trailer to HF) make her seem so much older...even though she is about the same age as Jessica and Kenix

cinsin
04-05-2004, 07:45 AM
Hard Fate sounds interesting, I heard the show is going to crossover into different time peroids and Michelle Yip's also going to star in it too.

I also hope that TVBJ will show Agels 3D soon but Blade Heart goes on for like 40 episodes which means it's ghoing to take another month to finish.

Louis Koo was in juvenile detention? I didn't know that, but I did hear about the karaoke bar incident. He hasn't been in many series lately, I wonder why.

jessca
04-05-2004, 07:37 PM
Wow...Louis Koo got into all that? :glug: Is he still with TVB?

Ive finished Angels on Mission...it was okie i guess, the ending could have been a lot better.

I've got nothing to watch now though.. :depresse: But i remember seeing that TVBs will be showing really nice series that i would love to watch again after the current ones..but i cant remember which ones...

ker_ai_teresa

i think Louis hasn't been in any series lately coz he's been too busy doing big screen films and commercials. i don't think he really wants to keep his contract with TVB mainly coz he doesn't get paid nearly as much as when he does films. which is why i think Blade Heart was changed from him to Raymond, coz i swear Louis was meant to be in that series.

haven't been watching any series lately either. i have angels 3D at home but can't be bothered to watch it.

can i just go back to net deception? for those who have seen it, can anybody tell me the relationship between Myolie's on-screen mother and that "aunt" who lives with them? are they meant to be lesbians or something? coz when that aunt met that rich guy, Myolie's mother didn't seem to like her going out with him, and Myolie kept telling her mother to treasure the times they have together because the aunt might leave them soon. :glug: just a tad bit confused....

jessca
04-06-2004, 06:50 AM
Yeah..i havent watched it, but i know that Myolie's mum and 'aunt' are together. My dad was getting confused and my mum had to point it out to him..

Louis and Raymond..hehe...i guess TVB are happy that they have Raymond to take over the his roles.

Ooohh..and i bothered to look it up..Ups and Downs in the Sea of Love stars on TVBS next Monday! Yay! I loved that series! :excited:

ker_ai_teresa
04-06-2004, 06:55 AM
oh the ups and downs in the sea of love is so funny!!! i love Cheung Ka Fai...er, whatever his english name is...he is such a funny guy. his expressions are enough to make me laugh!
both he and maggie cheung were great in that series. i loved how they went to all these different places to make the series. must have been so fun for them to be able to go and travel for free!

so Myolie's mother and that aunt were like....lesbians? okaaaaayyy.... :glug:

Yeah...a new concept for a new theme in a Tvb series... :glug: ...the entire idea about Net Deception is very modern.

Cheung Ka Fai...I think hes Nick?

Anyways..yeh..he was so funny! And Maggie was great..i love watching her in any type of role.

I loved the locations as well..especially in LA, and the wind turbine thingymebobbys... :D

Wow...Louis Koo got into all that? Is he still with TVB? Yes and everybody knows it in HK bcos that was like the tag they used to 'promote' him. Everybody went.."You know te actor who used to be in jail?" . I don't remember what series it was but Louis was skinny and VERY FAIR when he first started acting for TVB. I didn't like him. And then he starred in the Fireman series and got real TANNED... until now.

About Ups and Downs in the Sea of Love, I was just about to comment that Maggie and Nick don't seem to have chemistry and then I read teresa's comments.... I guess you like them as a couple? I think she's too old for him.

the entire idea about Net Deception is very modern.

Jessca...are you still refering to the ';lesbian' thingy?

jessca
04-06-2004, 08:57 AM
Ive seen bits of his earlier series, and i was shocked to see how fair he was too..but BF was the first timei had seen him that tanned. I really dont think he should sing...

I dont think Maggie and Nick particularly had chemistry, but i loved the individual characters.

the entire idea about Net Deception is very modern. By that, i meant the idea of hackers etc...its quite fast-moving...

ker_ai_teresa

the entire idea about Net Deception is very modern.
and not to mention the way they (wong hei and bernice) communicated with each other...very modern, in fact futuristic. who talks like that in real life and is actually understood by ppl?

yep, like jessca said, Nick and Maggie don't particularly match, but i liked their characters and i thought they portrayed them well.

louis...he's not just tanned, but burnt. and yes, he really shouldn't sing...

the entire idea about Net Deception is very modern.
and not to mention the way they (wong hei and bernice) communicated with each other...

huh....was Bernice Liu in Net Deception as well?

i think ur talking about Tiffany Lam, the Miss Hk from 2 years ago.
or maybe Myolie

but bernice is one of my fav. actresses for new-comers......she seems so happy all the time and is kinda of the "gui mui" style which i like in Flora Chan as well ...............and those innocent n gullible actions which she does

also she's not in all those rumours about fights between the leading actresses and disliking each other etc. (eg. how charmaine n sonija were trying to boycott shirley during the filming of Angels 3D)

however, i think TVB are promoting myolie/shirley more than bernice or tavia :-x

cinsin
04-07-2004, 08:13 AM
lol... I agree that Louis can't sing, although I think he sounded pretty good when he sang the DIFIV themesong with Edmond Leung, it's the only time I actually liked his singing.

I love Bernice and Tavia too, I also don't like how they seem to promote Myloie and Shirley more than the others especially when I consider Tavia a real actor since she actually went to a drama school. But I guess Myolie and Shirley so seem to be more versatile actors.

Anyway does anyone know what's happened to Lam Ka Tung? I haven't seen him in any series lately, has he left TVB?

ker_ai_teresa
04-07-2004, 10:29 AM
 whoops...yeah, i meant tiffany...keep getting those two mixed up.

lam ka tung? dunno...he might have gone into mainland china for career opportunites. many actors leave to make series in china once they get popular enough. i'm sure he'll be back one day.

charmaine and sonja boycotting shirley? hehe.. i would have thought it'll be charmaine and shirley boycotting sonja...the 2 of them look quite alike, they should play sisters in a series one day...hmm...they're not sisters in angels 3d are they? :?

jessca
04-07-2004, 10:40 AM
Nope..Sonija (i cant remember how she spells her name..its something weird...), Shirley and Charmaine arent sisters in 3D, just good friends.. I thought Charmaine didnt get on with Sonija...there were rumours about her and another big actress...

I love Tavia...especially after Vigilante Force, but ive never seen Bernice in a serious role. I like Myolie too, and i havent seen enough Shirley to see how versatile she is. But didnt she star in the Loving You series? That in itself is a series of loads of different stories, so i guess she can handle different types of roles... :?

I havent seen Gordon Lam for ages too... :glug:

sesamestreet
04-07-2004, 01:35 PM
Gordon Lam has left TVB after doing "Mei Lai Yun Sung"

he went to join Andy Lau's company..so often you will see himin some of Andy's movies (eg. in Dream of A requiem...... as the good friend of Andy who wants only to exploit Anita Mui for her money to open the dancing studio)

but most people who leave TVB ...end up joining it again but there popularity never seems to get back up to where it was before (eg. Michael Tao, Nick Cheung, Sunny Chan)

only esther Kwan has made some progress in the China market with some of her series

so I'm scared that Flora Chan will lose her popularity 2 ...since she has 1/2 left TVB now.....aiya :glug:

sweet_angel8
04-08-2004, 12:21 AM
Gordon Lam... hm.. i think i saw him last in Country Spirit... anyone see that? i thought that'd be a stupid series but it turned out alright... how did it end again?? >.< lol, ya.. wasn't he in Infernal Affairs with Andy Lau? he probably did join his company then..

cinsin
04-08-2004, 02:14 AM
 So Gordon has left TVB eh? I do hope he returns one day, but I hope he finds sucess in the movie industry.

I remember seeing him in Dream of a Requiem, didn't like his role in it too much and he's the only celebrity I've ever seen in real life, maybe that's why I like him so much

I loved a Country Spirit and of course Plain Love II as well, they both had the same kind of setting to it but the storyline in PLII was much better. CS ended weird, if I remember correctly Charmaine went back to being that girl that pulls people across the river because Gordon was presumed dead and then years later Gordon comes back and visits her and then it ends. Is that correct?

sesamestreet
04-08-2004, 04:31 AM
yes, kinda correct

there are three endings to CS but all meshed into one

so that's why @ that time in HK..there was news about why the ending didn't make much sense at all

i think its either they separate and that's the end

or you could have taken it where charmaine has this dream n you could have taken that as the ending like the ending "nupengyou" has said she continues on her old job of pulling ppl across

n the last ending i have forgotten

so the series is kinda innovative in having 3 different endings.... it just depended on where you wanted the story to end

its kinda different to the endings which have everybody back together for dinner or some family reunion ......which i am sick of

petheads
04-11-2004, 04:01 AM
yup it does. The twins appear for just a short section while Eason has a number of scenes in one episode. His part definitely made that episode a lot funnier.

Talking about Eason, I really like the theme song he sang. It's so suitable for the series.

04-11-2004, 09:34 AM
Yeah..its a really pretty song. We've got it uploaded in the forum somewhere...if you would like it, i'll see if i can find the link.

Twins didnt really make that much of a difference, but Easons cameo was quite important to the storyline, and it showed how much Sam gor knew about current pop hehe...

I watched the last episode of Lofty Water Verdant Bow and it was ...i dont even know how to describe it. I hadnt watched it all the way through (even if i didnt bother to catch the entire series, i will always watch the grand finale) so im not sure about some stuff. Thanks, jessca, for your offer. I've downloaded the song already. :) Heard the mandarin version on radio the other day and somehow, the feeling of triumph is lost. I guess the meaning and feel of Cantonese songs are usually lost when they get translated to Mandarin. Heard the Mandarin version of Leslie's Zhui the other day and it was bad.

I've not watched Lofty Water Verdant Bow, but the title just tickles me. What a mouthful! Some of the HK serials have the worst English names! Golden Faith, Square Pegs, Greed Mask, Aqua Heroes? They don't do justice to the Cantonese titles.

I just finished watching Fate Twisters. I thought Ada Choi was reall good as a si lai. Loved watching Lawrence and her as a pair. Are there any other dramas with them as a couple besides Healing Hands?

I want to go back on board again now...the seas so pretty...

i have watched the Amy and Roger Kwok series...though there was nothing fab about it

and i don't think it has aired in HK yet

but i'm starting to admire and notice more of Amy Kwok recently after watching "To love with no regrets".... i like how she portrays those gullible characters all the time, for eg. also in "Song sai Kit" as Cheung Tat Ming's wife

i wonder if Lau Ching Wan teaches her to act?.... though they make a very funny couple since one of them is so white and the other is so black

anyone seen 'seed of hope' with kenix kwok and tam man long (sp?). i've been watching up to chapter 24. it's actually quite good though it had a slow beginning. i've never thought a tvb series would sensistively address the topic of abuse and rape in a main character.

amdawn> i watched seed of hope too..... talks about counselling and those orphans ..... though the ending was kinda bad... n left you in the air

yep its showing on TVBJ (hahaha..... ur from Aus. too!) @ 8:30 on sat...i think the whole series is kinda silly...... in that suddenly there are like "springy" sounds or suddenly there are manga characters (even though it is adapted from a manga)..... but there are a huge no. of guest stars.. like miriam last week n shu kei this week

hmm...yeah I don't like Myolie's haircut either, she always seems to be doing something funky to her hair, I liked her Triumph in the Skies look better.
Charamine's haircut looks alright but because she has a round face she shouldn't have a fringe, it just makes her face look fat. And Kenix looks so skinny now. I mean she was skinny before but she just looks plain wierd now but it does make her face look much skinnier than before.

Yes, I love Hard Fate too ..... that's why its been doin' quite well in the HK ratings.... .... it has the highest opening week so far in this year .... go Flora :)

I also like how Flora is not playing one of those characters who are professional.... she's kinda gullible in this series

jessca--> you like lady fan??? :excited: that series is sooooo good! jessica is fantastic!! i love it when she plays intellegent characters, she's plays them really well.

as for me, still going with blade heart.....it's starting to get VERY FRUSTRATING!!! almost like the Golden Faith series and the common denominator is.......RAYMOND! how come he always plays the.......the.......difficult characters? it's so frustrating i want grab him by the neck and shake him! AND his father adam....and his mother liza too!

obviously watching TVB series isn't a way to relieve stress for me....

Boyz starred in a drama? What's it called?

I'm still watching Hard Fate and Fate Twisters (evil people at TVBJ kept putting it off for weeks...grrr...) Hard Fate is really growing on me and I think I like it because it's not all that predictable but Flora's acting bugs me a bit. Especially when she realised she liked Damian and she was in denial, it just seemed a little over the top.

And yeah I think the more I see of Myolie in shows, the more I dislike her. When are they going to realise that Tavia has more talent than her? :(

yeah, that TVBJ didn't air Fate Twisters for a couple of weeks ... n now only once every week ..... stupid baseball on sat.... anyone actually watch it?

Hard Fate> actually i think Flora is quite natural in ther series... cos her real personality is kinda of like that... happy, jking kind

but i don't understand how she had a big crush on Kevin in the first couple of episodes n then in a matter of several ep. she's dating Damien but doesn't mention/feel for her previous love

as to the new actresses,

Myolie - i think she made a big impact in golden faith where she acted as the small girl with mental problems...and then ground crew in triumph.. n then in net dec. as the pestering little sis

so overall, she can suit a wide range of characters

Shirley - she can suit more diff. char. than the ones shes played before

Tavia - in the series i have seen , she always acts as those daughters of rich families.... which suits her.... her gentleness/womanness which she displays

Michelle - i still hate her acting... her face does not display feelings as well as other actresses.... like the acting in triumph as the training pilot and then in Hard Fate is too similar..... but which are totally different characters

Bernice - my fav. new comer due to her happy attitude and funny chinese  + honest style ... also due to the fact she has improved a lot since VOH ancient series as the princess - VOH modern

i hope TVB promote her more rather shirley or myolie in fact

i'm watching the w files right now... so far, i like it... galen and tavia are so funny!... the story is a little weird though.

i watched "angels of mission" previously and it was really good... charmaine, shirley, patrick, and jimmy (i think that's his name) was really hilarious... i love the humor and jokes... but i still dislike Sonija's acting... she didn't seem to improve a lot since the last time i saw her in "a step to the past"... she doesn't seem to show much emotion... anyway, this series is highly recommended!

I really want to see more of Tavia..i loved her ever since The Vigilante Force.

i love Tavia too!... that's why i'm watching the w files right now... she's also very good in this series... i love her playful character... did you watch that series?

jessca
05-07-2004, 07:09 PM
Jessica - nope..mes never seen The W Files...but i love Tavia in her playful roles! She can look so cute and playful..but look unhappy and troubled later on in the same series...and i think shes so pretty!

Angels of Missions... I thought the ending was a bit of a let down..but other than that, i thought it was great. I think i was just glad to see Sonija in another goodie role. I absolutely hated her when she was evil...eeeee...Perish in the name of love, Where the legend begins...she was soo evil...

I think its the last episode of Ups and Downs tonight on TVBs..i loved watching it again..i dont think ill have the chance to again. :depresse:

jessica
05-13-2004, 08:57 PM
jessca : you should see this series if you like to see her playful character!... she was so funny in some scenes... she's a little troulblemaker in this series so you can imagine how she acts... i think she's very pretty also... she reminded me of Maggie when i first saw her... i almost got them mixed up.

how's 'up and down in the sea of love?'... is it funny?... i haven't watched nick in a series in a long time.

jessca
05-14-2004, 06:30 PM
Aww..i wanna see it then! And i can see how Tavia and Maggie looks alike hehe...

And Ups and Downs in the Sea of Love was great...im upset its finished now  . It had the right mix of drama, romance and comedy. And though Maggie and Nick didnt look that good together, we love their characters so much individually, we dont really care hehe... :D

My friends were watching it for the first time on TVBs and theyve grown so attached to Nick now hehe..they have particular scenes filmed on their digicams to watch again.. He looks really young in the series...but methinks hes older than he looks...anyone know how old he is?

Two actors i used to get muddled up were Frankie Lam..and.. ...some other guy who looks like him... He played Howard (the boyfriend who died right at the beginning) in The Vigilante Force.

jessca and jessica posting one after another .... makes me crazy la.....

i think when Tavia first appeared in a TVB series was in the one where Liza Wang , had become a vegetable, and her husband, Damien Lau then had an affair with another woman, Louisa So.

Maggie Cheung n Tavia yeung played sisters in their roles..... of course with Tavia as the younger one

also Joe Ma was Maggie Cheung's lover

the series is called "Fun Chin Fun Hou" but not sure of its english name

jessca
05-15-2004, 09:11 AM
:lolabove: It took me a while to work out what you meant by vegetable...

I remember watching that series...i enjoyed watching Maggie in a serious role. I totally forgot Tavia was in it too until you mentioned it.

I think it was called The Awakening Story.

I thought, prior to this, that my first Tavia series was the one with Benny Chan, Evergreen (?) Mak and Annie Man as the fairy goddess supernatural being..thingy... :glug:

cinsin
05-15-2004, 09:22 AM
Oh I loved that series with Annie Man and Benny Chan. I only started watching after the third episode but Tavia was in that? Wow can't believ I didn't notice that.

I also just remembered that Tavia was also in Burning Flame II, she looked really pale in that series. I didn't even recognise her at first.

I still haven't seen the Awakening Story (?) it looked so good when they were advertisng it though.

LOL, it took me ages to realise what the term vegetable meant because I kept seeing it in subtitles in those Chinese movies and I was like wtf?

sesamestreet
05-15-2004, 10:11 AM
jessca + nupengyou > sorri.... i didn't literally mean Liza dressed up in a vegetable costume.....

but that would have been funni

i didn't realli notice Tavia in other series ... until the HK media made such a fuss of her looking much alike Maggie Cheung in "The Awakening Story"

so i dunno whether she was in that series with Benny n Annie

but anyway, she's not gettin as heavily promoted as Myolie is right now... i dunno what is wrong with TVB ...... every 2nd series I see Myolie in it

cinsin
05-15-2004, 12:03 PM
It's okay sesamestreet, I wasn't confused by what you said, I was just making a general statement about how I didn't know what the term vegetable meant when I was watching movies with subtitles that mentioned it, but it's a funny term isn't it?

I think that's what bugs me about Myolie, how she's in practically every series, I prefer her in periodic shows more than modern ones though.

Are you still watching Hard Fate? I'm starting to dislike it, the plot is becoming strange, too many things are happening at once, so I've become lazy and haven't touched my tapes yet because it's not so appealing anymore.

sesamestreet
05-15-2004, 02:37 PM
nupengyou> oh, you still remember i was watching Hard Fate  ....wow, thanks :hugz:

yep, i'm still watching it..partly cos i like Flora chan....and its good to c in the later stages her playing a professional again... since i kinda miss that stage of her acting

also, my mom wants to watch Kevin Cheng...cos she thinks he looks good/hot

yes, the plot is getting very weird....there's many secrets of each others characters...how they are very intertwined

i guess that's why the story is kinda fresh n different from just those triangle love series

i think it's more a square or even a pentagon love relationship between every1

nupengyou> if you want spoilers on HF just leave a msg.... i'll be more than happi to reply :)

jessca
05-15-2004, 10:17 PM
Hehe..dont worry..we know what you meant. Its just it took a while to translate it to chinese..and then apply the term to the way you intended hehe...it was just funny hearing it as simply as 'vegetable' ..

I think TVB are overdoing Myolie too..they did that with Charmaine, and it totally spoilt her for me. Im not watching anything at the moment... :depressed:

I dont think Kevin looks that good-looking.. :glug:

cinsin
05-16-2004, 07:23 AM
Of course I'd remember sesamestreet, there's not exactly a lot of us in this thread...lol

I think it's weird because Nikki and Kevin don't even look like they're actually going out and too much is focused on Damian's psycho wife hehe. And Flora's brother's character in the show is absolutely pointless!!!

I didn't think Kevin was that good looking in Not Just a Pretty Face but I like his look in HF because he doesn't play one of those wealthy characters.

sesamestreet
05-16-2004, 03:20 PM
yep, i always feel that Kevin n Nikki's relationship was more like good friends rather than bf/gf type

flora's younger bro, hawick lau, is pointless except he gets used later by Stephen Au.... also those 2 orphan friends of Kevin's are pretty useless 2.....along with the rentowner "Mao Ze"

cinsin
05-19-2004, 11:37 AM
LOL yeah Kevin's two friends are also useless too.

Are you watching Dreams of Colours? Do you like it? I like it so far, I've seen 5 episodes and I love Rain Li's character. And I also like the themesong too, I didn't even realise she sang it until I saw it in the credits at the end. BUt again Myolie annoys the hell out of me...her character really bugs me. And I think Melissa Ng's character so far is pointless. I wonder if she starts to get a bigger role later on.

05-21-2004, 03:40 AM
i've caught only glimpses of DOC ... cos it doesn't realli appeal to me, esp. the actors/actresses are not my favs.

like yesterday, i watched the part where Myolie was realli concerned about the candy box which TKH gave her ......

byt i'm tuned into Hard Fate more... cos i realli like Flora.... and recently I just noticed that Nikki n kelvin make such a good couple .... also the story is fresh since it so twisted

Hard Fate ends next week on TVBJ ...... i realli hope they do Angels of Mission ....cos everybody, who rents tapes, says its a very good series..... it seems like the BEST series released so far this year

sweet_angel8
05-23-2004, 04:23 PM
ahhh.... so not up-to-date with the new series!!! it's probably gonna air HF like next year?? aha.. anywho, right now it's airing Slim Chances and Witness to a Prosecution 2. the Slim Chances is okay... but 'fay jie duk' sorta annoys meeee.... maybe it's the face... lol.. and i have to say only kevin cheng is good to look at in the series =) ahaha...

sesamestreet
05-24-2004, 04:53 AM

http://www.tvfe.co.uk/tvfe/drama/2004_dramas/drama_pictures/hidden_treasures.jpg

hidden treasures

http://www.tvfe.co.uk/tvfe/drama/2004_dramas/drama_pictures/placebo_cure.jpg

placebo cure.... with the recently returning sunny chan... and it looks like there is Kevin Cheng in this series as well playing a doctor/psychologist

some other news about airing times:

in hk, after Hard Fate and Dream of Colours

they are airing Angel of Mission and To Love With No Regrets

On 6/21, after "To Love With No Regrets" and "Angels of Mission" finished, TVB will air:

"Five To a Family" (Temporary English Title) - Jessica Hsuan, Joe Ma, Don Li and Mimi Lo

AND

"To Get Unstuck in Time" - Roger Kwok and Flora Chan ==> The series basically "borrows" the idea from the America movie "Frequency". In "Frequency", the father, through a phenomenon, was allowed to communicate with his son 30 years in the future via short-wave radio. In "To Get Unstuck in Time", Roger's character is a cop who was able to talk to his father in 1984 using a mobile phone. Roger's father was also a cop and together they solve many difficult murder cases.

I am quite surprised TVB is already showing another series with Flora in it since Hard Fate just ended.... but who cares....i wouldn't mind seeing her everyday :excited:

So everybody can be prepared as to what to watch in the upcoming summer/winter hols :)

Thanks for the info sesamestreet!
Hidden treasures' poster looks interesting. I haven't seen a Booby Au Yeung series for ages now. Except I have a feeling Sonja's going to ruin it with her bad acting.

And To Get Unstuck in Time sounds really good, I really liked the film Frequency and wouldn't mind seeing a series with a similar storyline.

I also hope they'll show Angles on a Mission on TVBJ after Hard Fate since everyone says it's good.

So do you know who Myolie's Si Fu's name is in DOC? You said TKH and I have no idea what that stands for LOL

oh hey! sunny chan's back! :excited: they can never stay away from acting for long can they?

actually i don't really like bobby as an actor. the characters he plays are always the same. goofy, funny, laughs a lot....doesn't really give him the space to show his true acting skills. but i did like him in that negotiators series with chi lam. it was nice to see bobby play a different type of character for once.

sweet_angel8
05-26-2004, 12:37 AM
^^ you must be talking about.. "take my word for it" with kenix and annie in it too. anywho speaking of bobby, there's this other old show that has him in it when he was just starting acting i guess? and he's like sorta skinny in the show and now he's chubby aha... isn't it usually the other way around? they start out chubby and get skinnier? like Sammi Cheng, she was chubby and now she's skinny..

also....i'm so sorry to use abbreviations  ...TKH = stands for Tse Kwon Ho.... Myolie's "si fu (master)"...the one that was goin' to get married with Melissa Ng in the series

So TVBJ's going to show Angels on a Mission? That's so cool...I've heard so much about it from you guys and now I get to watch it...YAY!!! :bounce:

Tse Kwan Ho eh? I think he looks kinda cute, I think this is the first time I've seen him. What do you mean goin' to get married with Melissa, does that mean they're not getting married  So predictable!!!

as with TVB, the characters can never be together or have to go hardships until they are together

some news about HH3:

Flora will be goin' to S'pore next month to film an English series "Like My Own" .... because of her schedule she will not be in HH3

Flora's other series which will be airing later, however since she will not be in HK, she has already done some promo work..

As to Hard Fate's ratings have not been all that good, Flora responded that if she acted to her best ability than that is already enough.

---------
aside: i think why HF's rating is not all that good is the pairing between Damien and Flora is a bit funny..

the idea of HF - fates intertwined by the jade, topic of jade business etc etc... is very fresh but i think HK audiences prefer lighter, not such complicated plot, series nowadays

Oo I dont know what my fave one is called but here's the official link to it http://tvcity.tvb.com/drama/herbalist/scene/index.html..It's so good + romantic :)

i know that drama!! its like Age of a new Era... or something like that! it had Nicky Wu and Leo Koo in it right?! That was a really long drama  . its was like almost 100 eps... oye... but you're right it was a good drama.

For me i dunno... i just recently watched a Leo Koo one... um. A Step into the Past. LOL it was really funny. Lots of references to historical facts and yet.... not... :glug:

ali885: I think that's the series "A Herbalist Affair" with Roger Kwok and Charmaine Sheh. I think the one you're are talking about with Nicky Wu and Louis Koo, is the series "At the Threshold of an Era". It had 2 parts to it, and was truly long around 106 episodes. Louis Koo is so handsome, I like him in "A Step Into The Past" too, with Jessica Hsuan and Sonija Kwok.

destined: I agree Flora and Damien don't match at all. The only reason why I'm still watching this series is, because of Kevin and Nikki. They're so cute together!!

I'm watching Angels on a Mission 3D and Hidden Treasures at the moment.

I really like Angels 3D because it's hilarious yet full of action although it can seem fake sometimes when Charmaine's fighting and Shirley looks weird kicking butt

Hidden Treasures is kinda lame, nothing much has happened and I've watched 10 episodes already =P Anne Heung looks freakin' ugly in the show, I know she's supposed to look that way but my god, I never knew she could be that ugly!

nupengyou: oh what is Hidden Treasures about?? Is it the one about fashion designing with Myolie Wu??

Right now I am currently watching this series with the cops .. I am not sure what it's called by... 'Holding Guns Sisters'?? with Ada Choi, Tung Lai Ming, Bobby Au Yeung... So far it's pretty good but I heard the ending was lame.

Oh and have anyone seen this series called Lights of Million Hope. It's not a TVB one but they are showing it over here in my chinese channel and I chase it like every weekend. It's really good. :)

Hehe can't really explain what it is but I found the synopsis of it from some site, can't remember which one though
It's basically about Bobby Au Yeung's family tracing 3 generation back settling its root in Apliu Street. Bobby receives his first pot of gold after he inherits the business to sell 2nd hand appliances. His business getting bigger and bigger and his popularity is high at that moment. Unfornately, Bobby's business is at risk after a financial crisis, while he encounters an uninvited guest, Sonija Kwok. These two becomes friends from bickering pairs. Sonja even plays a matchmaker connecting Bobby with a owner of a buy-back store, Anne Hueng. However, Bobby has an untold story. (I didn't post the ending cause I don't want to spoil the ending in case you want to watch it :wink2:

Oh and that series your currently watching is Armed Reaction, it's a favourite of those who visit this thread  I'm not sure which series you're talking about but they all have lame endings :D There's a 5th one in the making so I guess that's why the ending was "lame". And the one with Myolie wu is called Dreams of Colour =)

Hey, the thread is finally moving again. :)

So i saw the angels of mission ... close to the end now....

and want to give some comments...

most ppl were saying how it was good etc. etc. but the ratings in HK do not reflect this....even To Love With No Regrets is doin' better than it.

--------
Overall, i think the series is VERY funny but not the same type of humour as VOHarmony II.

the casting was well done, esp. with Charmaine + sonija + shirley - each playing their roles quite well.....like suiting their personalities (eg. i cannot see Sonija flirting with hung tin ming)

I think everyone's acting is much better now (esp. charmaine as the realli male female) except sonija.... i think she was rather stiff n unnatural but that maybe that was due to her character

downsides =

i thought it focussed too much on their everyday lives rather than on the cases ... but as if HK will have so much terrorism anyway

they always, well most of the time already, go to the pub (and get drunk) ...... hey, if your the CTU and supposed to be so secretive about your identities/tasks then you wouldn't keep calling Sonija "madam" in the public

overall, its better than some series (eg. blade Heart) but not the best....... a light entertainer

[edit]: http://www.tvfe.co.uk/tvfe/drama/2004_dramas/drama_pictures/to_get_unstuck_in_time.jpg

Wow this thread has become dead again...MUST REVIVE IT!!! LOL

I agree with you sesamestreet about Angels 3D being too focused on their social lives then the actual CTU. And it ended so weird, the love triangle between Sonja, Charmaine and that guy (can't remember his name ><).

sweet_angel8 : Oooh, The King of Yesterday and Tomorrow is one of my faves, it's funny and the characters are really likeable, I'm sure you'll love it.

Currently watching To Get Unstuck In Time (?), and it's really good, like fast-paced action type of series, the plot moves really quick in the first 5 episodes. Anyone else watching the series?

Yeah I love the fact that the show shows a lot of historic facts. I think I learned quite a few stuff about HK. And it's also very touching... I almost cried a few times!! And yeah, I agree Noel Leung Siu Bing is soo pretty! I use to really like her as an actress and it's great seeing her on this show again. There's this song in it that I really like as well and I was wondering if you know what it's called? It's in English and is a really old, romantic song... They played it alot when they were talking about Noel Leung and the son.. It goes something like.. "Is this real love?"

My mum and sister are just bout finishing Hard Fate now..i watched a couple of episodes with them, and i just wasnt interested. Like some of you have already said, Damien and Flora looks so wrong, and i just didnt like the characters. Especially the way Damiens character was developed later on...didnt seem right to me.

I watched Dream of Colours last weekend (yup, i saw it all over the weekend). It wasnt really that good, but i missed watching TVB during my exams hehe...It was easy to get into, using a young cast like Aqua Heroes. I thought Myolie was pretty good in this series and i dunno what the male lead is called. I cant recall seeing him in anything else..

The W Files is being shown on TVBs at the moment, so im trying to catch it each night. Im used to videos and being able to watch episodes when i feel like it, but its looking good.. :excited:

Jess: Tse Kwun Ho is a ying di so he's like one of the most popular actors in HK's movie history or something. I was asking my dad about it and he's really famous! But I don't know who he is LOL Hidden Treasures is okay, like I said before, it doesn't have much of a storyline, gets boring after a while, I'm only watching it for Bobby =)

Sesamestreet: Too bad TGUIT only goes for 22 episodes, it's so good, I don't want it to end, although Flora's haircut annoys me ><

Mitsui: Your friend's dad works at TVB? :glug: No way!
And yes THREAD HAS BEEN REVIVED, for now....

As I get older, I have less time for TVB series. But when I do watch one...like in the summer...they remind me of how good they can be. Jessca, I wanted to watch "Hard Fate" but only for Kevin Cheng. I agree with you (and the others?) that Flora and Damien look weird, but I guess its part of the story....like an old guy with a somewhat young lady. I just watched Placebo Cure, its a new series with Sunny Chan, Kevin Cheng, and Joyce Chan. Its really good...I highly recommend it! Right now I'm watching Hidden Treasures with Bobby Au, Sonija Kwok, and Anne Heung. Its alright, kinda average series.

Mitsui...your friend's dad works at TVB (I got this from nupenyou)? What position does he work as? Like, what does he do?

I'm glad this thread has been revived. Talking about Chinese TV shows is one of my favorite subjects...^_^

Emily: TGUIT = To Get Unstuck In Time.

It starrs Flora Chan and Roger Kwok.

It's about how Roger gets to communicate with his dad who died 20 years ago via an old phone and his dad helps him solve cases in the present because Roger's a policemen and so is his dad =) Sesamestreet had a description and a poster on it a page or two back.

Hmmm... If you saying HK series, i like the 'Light of Hope' (has Hong Bo Bo as main character, sorry i can't spell her name in pin yin), is very touching, nearly every episodes made me cry.

I love Light of Million Hopes too! It's so sad but really gripping series.

Many people enjoy and stick with TVB but I really enjoy watching ATV series (err.. please don't bash me). I reallly love watching Light of Million Hopes and Justice Pao 95'.

As for TVB series, I really enjoyed Legal Entanglement, Love is Beautiful and Seven Sisters.

I also really enjoyed watching Legend of Dagger Lee 99'. Although it's a Taiwanese, I watched it in Cantonese.

I guess my favourite would probably be the Justice Pao series. It's hard to choose.

the thread is becoming dead again...where's our regulars ...nupengyou and ekyec ?

Today, I started watching the "Handful of Love" starring Joe Ma + Jessica Hsuen + those five kids.....it seems pretty sappy :shy: ...n was not all that interested in watching it anyway

I guess this is reflected in the HK ratings which are always around 25~27 range.....I would have thought the Joe + Jessica pairing would have worked a bit since Lady Fan did quite well

On the other hand, I'm still watching TGUIT.....and i am totally captivated and hate having to wait for the next episode to air  ...the story has so many twists n so it does get a bit confusing at times.....but I like the kung-fu moves Flora uses ...seems quite Matrix-like :excited:

that's finished airing in HK ....so you can get spoilers everywhere for it by now

but the ratings have been good... and talks about a sequel are rumoured

Hmmmmm, just a suggestion guys ... this thread is getting really looooooong and a little outta hand. Every time ... after I haven't visited this thread for a long while, I feel lost. Can I perhaps suggest that we have sub-topics under this particular topic, since it's so popular?

Can one of the moderators take note of this? Coz' I really enjoy reading up on this thread. Just that it just messes me up sometimes after I haven't been in in a while.

cacky, what do you mean by subtopics? do you mean to have separate threads for the diff series? :?

anyway, just to liven things up in here again, i've been watching Roger and Flora's To Get Unstuck in Time. wow!!! i love it! i spent all of last saturday going through about 12 episodes! :excited:
it's so addictive! the story line is fantastic and pretty original considering it's a TVB production  but apparently there's a hollywood version of this series with the same idea?

oh the twists! :excited: Flora is as always, at her best and Roger....can anything negative be said about this veteran?

i just hope the ending won't disappoint!

has anyone seen this? or anything else lately?

To Get Unstuck In Time is a very good series, very suspenseful and fast-paced. Though it's a copycat of Frequency (a Hollywood movie), I'd say it's a pretty cool copy :). The casts did great jobs as well especially Roger, Flora and Dai Hor Sir.

Miss HK 2004 Semi-finals are on this Fri (13/8) ...black friday!

tvseriesfan.com has official shut down... for those trying 2 access it..... they oficially got complained by TVB management

"Twins of Brother" is currently airing in HK

42 episodes

along with "To Catch The Uncatchable"
http://tvcity.tvb.com/homelinks/images/drama_icon_menu_photo3.jpg
25 episodes

so you can check those out at your local video store or on pay TV

Virtues of Harmony 2 is ending sometime January 2005...
this series attracts over $HK 4 million dollars a month from advertising (eg. the thermal cups that the actors/actresses hold is by Buffalo and so that attracts a fee + also Nancy Sit sometimes eats "Blue Can" Danish cookies so that also draws in money for TVB.... there are lots of products within the whole series) so there are rumours that it may not end due to the amount of money it draws in

one of my favorites is....Greed Mask. there's always a twist in the plot, and what you think is gonna happen never does. but after awhile, you start to know that the first answer to the mystery they come up with is not gonna be the real one. i dont like cheesy predictable dramas so i guess thats why i like this one. however the ending was kinda creepy...if you saw it then you would know what i mean.

Twins of Brother isnt that great a series i think. Compared to To Get Unstuck in Time, its not that good, my opinion. Yeah im a fan of raymond but i just thought the plot isnt entirely there... too much frilly effects and characters... i was disapointed frankly.

I think my favourite canto tv series would be Triumph In The Skies. The one with Flora Chan, Francis Ng, Myolie Wu and Joe Ma. It was so sad when Joe Ma dies in the story and how Flora Chan went through all that pain. They even had 2 EEG guest appearances, I think it was Eason Chan and Dave Wang. It was a nice story.

I just finished watching Fate Twisters (Ada Choi, Gigi Lai, etc...) and Eternal Happiness (Michelle Yip, Raymond Lam, Joe Ma, etc...).

sweet_angel8

htruc : You just finished Fate Twisters too?? well.. i missed some of the ending but I'll watch the rerun of it tonight. I don't think they'd actually put sentence 2 years for giving fake witness accounts would they?? That would be just ...sad. Eternal Happiness is.. eh... boring at times but Raymond's in it :) so I still watch it! I think it's Perish in the Name of Love tomorrow and then Survivor's Law after Eternal Happiness which means.. more Raymond!!!! :bleh:

sweet_angel8 : Yes, finished watching it like 3 hours ago. Don't worry if you miss the first one, I think there's a rerun from FAIR, if you miss that one there's reruns from FAIRW (Vancouver). I don't think it's fair either for Ada Choi. I mean 2 years for that. I think 6 months most or just lay some charges. The little girl in the series is such a good actor. I think she's the one from Burning Flames II.

panda_shine : Me too, I wish Joe Ma didn't die to, well at least he was in it for a few more chapters, as a spirit?!? And Twins are in it? I think I missed out on that one. I rented Triumph In The Skies and my VCR is so crappy, throughout most of the scenes I was only listening because the screen was flashing like crazy. I need to get a new VCR.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Coz' I think the popularity of this thread is enough to justify for it having sub-topics, right?

i understand what you mean and why having subtopics might help clear up the confusion and pile up of posts. but i see it this way. having a concentrated base to discuss all the series we're currently watching has it's advantages in that everything is here and anyone can just butt in to post their own comments about which ever series they want. plus it'll eliminate the need for hardcore TVB fans the need to check different threads to read up on the discussion, coz everything is in one thread. plus, how long can discussion on one series be sustained? starting a thread for each series might not be very efficient.

just my views. :wink2: but if you really think having subtopics will work, perhaps we can talk about it more here? anyone have an opinion? :?

Dana--> I've nearly finished The Get Unstuck!!! i've got another 2 more episodes to go, i think. i love it so much! the entire series just gets straight to the point, without any useless boring bits in between. i'm going to be sad when i finish it....

hehe...i love Roger! he was one of the very first asian celebrities whom i worshipped when i was in elementary school. a lot of the TVB series he made when younger has become classics.

i've watched a bit of "to catch the uncatchable" series..
its pretty amusing..
quite funny..
my parents really like it, i dont get some of the jokes[my canto's rather crap], but they're fully cracking up..but the stuff i actually get, is pretty funny.
anyway, its fun to watch..it has the "wong ji wa" dude in it[and his a comdeian kinda thing], so its bound to be funny..

so i recommend it, its good for anyone bored..
and still pretty good if you're not bored.

i finally got my hands on TGUIT, its pretty good, the storylines pretty interesting so far..
but everytime i see roger, i always think of him as the dude in the series where he was mental[i think it was square pegs?..i dont know..i cant really remember the english titles properly]..

ker_ai_teresa
08-13-2004, 01:44 PM
hehe...yeah, square pegs....but he wasn't mental. he just had the mental capacity of a young child. he's lost quite a bit of weight since then, btw. :)

i haven't heard of that uncatchable series yet. who else is in it besides wong ji wa? that guy is suppose to be a comedian....i'm not sure whether he really is that funny tho....

btw, ekyec, your siggie is a little freaky.....

MonicHu
08-24-2004, 08:20 AM
i agree. dayo's hilarious! i loved "to catch the uncatchable" but i didn't like the ending. i think ada choi did a good job in it too. i think "triumph in the skies" was a good series too. tvb always made dramas about lawyers and cops and stuff but never about pilots so it was something fresh. the story line was pretty good too.

ftlouiea
08-24-2004, 04:01 PM
Dayo is hilarious, but ugly. Enough said!!

^ pilots for a change was good. But TVB tend to use people involved in civil services (police, doctors, marine people etc.) a lot! have they tried a triads series? following suite from the HK films??

sesamestreet
09-01-2004, 03:22 PM
where is everyone again? :glug: ......ker_ai ....nupengyou....panda_shine???

So, I started watching "War and Beauty" (WAB)....the one that stars a lot of top actors and actresses like Maggie, Moses, Bowie, Charmaine etc.....

I thought actually it was quite interesting knowing all the different systems + grades within the palace itself......I don't know what in the series is captivating me to keep watching more of it because the storyline goes quite slowly (eg. a whole scene about Gigi fussing about what to wear with Charmaine took about half of an episode)

although, I must mention that other actors were quite good but Shereen Tang's was the best :-) ....totally believable as the scheming + cunning concubine!

as to the extended ending of TCTU.... I thought it was a bit soppy + expected...didn't bring any surprises as with most comedies where they have "big family" endings all the time....so I would rather they left it at that then with the extension

luvsfroot

i think this is just a chinese drama (are the actors cantonese too? anyway).., (its not my favorite one, i'm just posting around to ask) .. but has anyone seen "hua mulan"? with Zhao Wen Zhuo, Anita Yuen, Yang Pei Pei. i was just wondering because i saw it years ago & i liked it but i can't seem to find people who's seen it. i only know my friend who saw it (it aired here years ago) and she liked it too.

ker_ai_teresa
09-02-2004, 12:28 PM
luvsfroot--> hmm.... the actors you mentioned in the movie don't sound familiar to me.
and yes, this thread is for discussion about Hong Kong made TV series, so yes they'd be cantonese speaking.

sesame--> me here! i haven't seen WAB yet! is it newly released? those few actors seemed to have been casted together b4 in past series, so i don't wanna get confused here.
but it looks great! i love Moses Chan. he's such a darling!
so it's set in ancient china i assume, from your mention of palaces? :?

i haven't been following any series lately. just TCTU, but only on and off and whenever my mum watches it. it's okay...i find it a little slow and boring, but yeah, it is kinda funny sometimes.

btw, did anyone watch Miss HK? *sigh* they don't do these shows like they use to.... that's all i can say. every year there's more and more emphasis on looks than on brains.

sesamestreet

btw, did anyone watch Miss HK? *sigh* they don't do these shows like they use to.... that's all i can say. every year there's more and more emphasis on looks than on brains.

I did... :wink2:

I guess they do have to consider looks since it is in the end a beauty contest....if you have some brains i guess that would be a bonus!

Also, I thought it was a bit cheap...usu. they have the realli nice sets but this year it was kinda bad. As well, the combines the whole finals into one whereas before they had semi's to cut the 18 down to 12 contestants...and then the finals where they have further eliminations.

anyway, ker_ai and everybody else, I realli would recommend you guys see WAB...the storyline is very good....everybody has their own goals + scheming within the palace....their ups and downs.

The actors + actresses are also very good....there's very little "new" inexperienced ppl or Mainland actors ( which I hate to watch because their voices are dubbed + they don't seem to work any chemistry with TVB actors for me, at least).....when you have a line up of experienced actors + actresses ..such as Maggie Cheung, Shereen Tang, Gigi Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Moses Chan, Bowie Lam + even veterans like Lo Hoi Pang, Chan Sui Chu, Yu Yeung... I realli doubt that it could be that bad

Since, anniversary of TVB is drawing near (19th Nov) ... it has been confirmed that "Wandering Medical Heroes" starring Nick Cheung, Gigi Lai, Bosco, Raymond Lam and even Gigi Leung....this is the one where they actually went to Africa for some scenes
and "Proud Heroes of Chu and Han" starring Kong Wah, Melissa Ng, Adam Cheng, Maggie Cheung are goin' to be the anniversary series for this yr

So expect some "better" high quality series in the upcoming months

Oh yupyup, I watched Miss HK! ^^ But I actually I was thinking the opposite.. :shy: I thought they look for more brains + education more than looks now.. or I guess they do look for looks but brains + education is also a must... but anyways, I am actually really glad Kate Chui won coz I saw this interview TVB did on her.. and she sounds like a very warm friendly, positive person...

Hmm I still watching Greed Mask :shy: but I am going to start watching To Catch The Uncatchable? soon.. the one with Flora Chan and Roger Kwok.

And wow those series you guys mentioned with those celebs sounds good!! It's modern right?

And I was wondering.. there's this series that have a lot of new people in it... something called.. "4 Leaves Grass?" does anyone know when it's out or if it's out already? Coz I really wanna watch it.

ker_ai_teresa

well, what i don't like about the recent miss HK shows is the huge amounts of dancing, costume changing involved, and the amount of celebs they employ to entertain. it's just overly done to me.

and yes, i did notice how they had cut back on the budget. i guess they don't see the point of making the show so grand as they use to either. really, they comp is just to find new female actresses for TVB.

panda, to catch the uncatchable doesn't star flora and roger. they're in To Get Unstuck In Time, which i think is a totally fabulous series! :-)

speaking of TVB anni, i love their celebration shows! with all the actors, dancing, singing, doing stunts....great piece of entertainment. :-) i wonder who'll get best actor/actress this year??? :?

ooo I love their anniversary celebration shows too!!

I am currently watching Aqua Heros right now. It has Bobo Chan, Edwin Siu, and I think Stephy from Cookies. So far I really like it. Does anyone know if it's new or not??

Nah its not the most recent, maybe about a year old? I'm not exactly sure coz i didn't see it, but being bored made me watch one or two episodes- the re-runs in Hk.

How much do i hate Bobo! Ungrateful cow. For hating her sister etc. Maybe she changes later? But i didnt see that far!

:glug: hey everybody... haven't been in this thread in a looooooooooong time

i haven't been watching too many TVB series lately, but i have to recommend "To Get Unstuck in Time"... it was very good... i love the suspense and the twist of the story... this series reminds me of "Frequency" where the father and son communicate from different dimensions.

currently, i've been watching "twins of brother" (i think that's the correct title :worry: ) with Raymond Lam and Ron Ng... this series is pretty good, but sometimes i get lost in the dialogue.

i've been watching twin brothers too!!!! :excited: i love it! the story line is pretty good so far, i just hope that the ending will be a good one, coz the last 2 TVB series i watched have ended unsatisfactorily.
Raymond's funny! his voice and acting (particularly in this series) reminds me SO much of Louis Koo! the way they speak is so similiar.

Ron's okay, although he doesn't really suit playing an olden day character. he looks too modern i guess??? :glug:

Hey I haven't been here for so long, nice to know you guys are keeping it active, my internet's down so I haven't been able to come online >.<

But yeah I'm loving War and Beauty right now, but it looks like one of those shows that will start off good and then go downhill. It's all good though especially since Moses Chan is in it

Twin of Brothers is good too, it started off slow and the CGI's a re a bit dodgy but they're always dodgy in HK shows =P The storyline's developing more now so it's better, but I still feel like I don't know what's going on.

what's CGIs??? :?

and yeah, there's always lots going on in the series and lots of characters introduced all over the place. but i think it's meant to be like that....sort of like the monkey magic series....ppl everywhere! but i like that. it keeps things fresh and not so boring.

i still haven't started on W'n'B yet!!! i so want to see moses chan....prolly after we finish with TofB.

yeah, i have to agree with you on that... it does start off slow, but the pace picked up in the middle of the series... i'm almost to the end of it and it's getting good!... as for the CGI, i agree also... it looked so weird and out of place sometimes  ...

i like Raymond's character too... it's esp funny when he's arguing with that girl yok chee

ker_ai_teresa : CGI stands for Computer Generated Images... in other words, it's just special effects :wink2:

09-11-2004, 04:18 AM
Yep CGI's are computer generated images teresa ;)

And I was thinking of the exact same thing how twin of brothers resembles the monkey magic series. It's like they're on a quest or something and there's always new characters popping up everywhere.

I hope you'll get to start on war and beauty soon, it's really really good and Moses is just a bonus lol.

oh! okay! haha, you learn something new everyday. :D

anywayz, back to Tof B. if you've been watching this series, you'll know that in one of the earlier episodes, there was a scene where ray and ron are in a lake, 'naked', because their to-be "adopted mother" was chasing after them. and you'll also know about that bum scene :brows: . i actually thought they'd used bum models, but i found out today that they didn't!!! it was really their bums on show!!! :excited:

gee they're brave! i mean, they could've used bum models but they didn't and preferred to do it themselves.

Jans, if you happen to read this, you gotta watch this series!!! :excited: watch it for ron!!!

Thanks Teresa for telling me about it. In fact, I have seen the 'sexy' scene of those gentlemen.. :) They have very nice @$$ indeed. :D I am surprise both of their bums are tanned..
However, this scene was complained by parents, claiming that it isn't properate for the show, since there are so many little kids watching the show as well. Anyway, it's just a little entertainment.. :wink2: They are too serious over it..

Lol this was big news the first night it came out. Hehe, X-rated TV at 8.30pm?! OH MY GAWD! Lol.

Psh. HK parents complain. As if their children are so innocent. Not.

hey... it's great that the thread is moving again or else I may need to :whip: you guys (just jking)

I recommend everyone watch WAB rather than TOB ( I think that the computer graphics are way too fake and story is not interesting at all)

i think in WAB everybody did a good job in acting, esp. Shereen as the scheming concubine, but also to charmaine (who was improved quite a bit) + gigi (her acting is so good that you would want to kill her at being so annoying) + maggie (she has some monologues actually...which is quite hard...but she does them brilliantly)

the guys so far i'm still a bit iffy  about whether they were casted correctly

"Shine on You" (青出於藍) is airing in Australia.... it replaces Slim Chances at 11:15pm but also will be released on tape/VCD elsewhere

I'm realli happy :excited: that they are doin' 3 new series each day, like before during the promo. period, rather than only 2......though its a bit late....so I better prepare my video recorder!

ftlouiea
09-16-2004, 07:24 PM
Yeah I want to see WAB but my family dont rent the TVB videos here, too expensive la! But from the reviews and all what you've said, can you tell me more: as in what each actresses' roles are in the series?

ker_ai_teresa
09-17-2004, 11:01 AM
Jans--> yeah, i heard about the parents in HK complaining about that :brows: scene too, but come on! i think TVB has done worse stuff in other series than this one. personally i think "rape" scenes are worse than this one, and TVB has filmed a far few of these sensitive scenes b4.

anywayz, i'm still waiting to watch WAB, but i'm still really enjoying TOB. i think the story is very interesting and i like how there are so many different characters. it reminds me of all the old TVB series, like Condor Heroes.

09-18-2004, 09:45 PM
i'm almost finished with TOB... i think i'm on the last 3 episodes... it got kind of boring and chatty in some scenes... the dialogue is really weird and i got lost a few times... but some scenes are still entertaining... i might be starting "shine on you" next... yeah, i can see Bobby again!

ker_ai_teresa
10-01-2004, 11:36 AM
come on guys!! don't let this thread die!!!!

anywhoz, i've finally finished TOB.... a bit sad coz there'll be no one for me to drool over now.... :brows:
i didn't like the ending. it was really......dumb....... i absolutely love Tavia, and was hoping that Raymond would pick her in the end..... but not that it really mattered who he picked anywayz....

yeah, i agree, there was a lot of dialogue near the end....i just found it not so fun to watch when Raymond and Ron's characters separated near the middle....it seemed like 2 different stories from then on.

anywayz, been watching Condor Heroes 95 again, coz well, nothing to watch just yet, still waiting for my aunt to rent that new Moses series.
i gotta say, Louis Koo's acting was pretty bad back then...

jessica
10-01-2004, 09:22 PM

ker_ai_teresa : i finished TOB a few weeks ago... the ending sucked  ... i didn't really understand what happened... it was a bit confusing  ... hey, i love Tavia also :excited: ... i thought that the other girl suited Raymond more... i enjoyed watching them bicker throughout :D

i agree about the splitting up part... it was better when they were together.

condor heroes 95... i've never watched that... but i remembered that louis was extremely pale back then

i'm finishing "to catch the uncatchable" with dayo wong and ada choi... this series is hilarious... i didn't know ada was such a good comedian... it's recommended if you want a good laugh with crime solving suspense :wink2:

I don't know if it is a good series because I haven't finish watching it. The one I'm talking about is "A Handful of Spirit", I think. If you translate the chinese title, it would be One house, two surnames and three "something". :shy: The one with Jessica Hsuan and Joe Ma as the uncle and aunt of the 5 kids. So far, some of the parts filled my eyes with tears. So how is this drama, if anyone has seen it? It's pretty new. 2004 drama.

jessca
10-01-2004, 10:38 PM
^thats the one i meant in my previous post  sorry lol..

i havent seen it, but my mum and sister were also moved to tears. they said each episode had a moral to it? i wish i could have watched it with them..i love seeing children actors.. =( but they thought it was great...so i suppose the rest of the series is as good as the beginning... :D

how much have you seen? =)

htruc
10-01-2004, 10:48 PM
Yea, each chapter kinds of has a moral to it. For each chapter they have a sub title for it. For example, chapter # would be called "I Have a Dream", "Dad's Death Part 1", ah that last one doesn't seem to sound right. but you know each chapter has that kind of telling kids that is a bad thing to do.

I think so far i've only watched 5 or 6 chapters. I am so busy with homework that I can't finish watching it.

I like that actress in there. Um what's her name, Ms. Law is her name in the series. She's the teacher of those 2 young boys in the story. Their nicknames were, Pineapple Bun and 4th prince or something. (Si Xiao) In real life, her name also starts with Law. Law Man Jiang, I think. I'm not very good with pinyin.

Edit: I wonder why people think Virtues of Harmony, both series is so great. It gets so annoying sometimes. On television, Virtues of Harmony 1 finished in June and then Virtues of Harmony 2 came back on in like middle of July. Sometimes I'll watch it, but what is the plot, what's the meaning of that chapter. I find it so dumb sometimes. I mean what are they talking about??? Everytime I see K-100 on and I find the rating like in spot 2, I wonder how com that much people would actually watch it. The series are getting longer right, what chapter are they on as of making it? Are they trying to beat the record of Kindred Spirit? Only some chapters actually have meanings to watch.

sesamestreet
10-02-2004, 02:58 AM
Actually...sometimes i prefer to watch VOH 2 because each episode is so short + even if u have missed a couple of episodes u still can catch on to the storyline :-)

and sometimes it so silly that's its hillarious to watch... so its a good reliever of stress, esp. after exams... at times u get mesmorised into the series (well I do) and forget about the real world with all these deadlines + pressures around

htruc> I think there have been rumours that VOH will be stopped around march~may next yr....but it hasn't been confirmed

as to "Handful of Love" by Joe + Jess... i thought it was a pretty boring series....very predictable + doesn't make u want to watch the next episode unlike "War and Beauty".....
also.. I wonder how if the husband just teaches piano for a few hrs a day + the wife is a director at stingy TVB they could have ended up with a house that looks well over $10 mil. HKD??
maybe they should get more realistic! :-x ....for ppl who have been to HK or have relatives in HK... u guys would know what I would mean....like u can have 5-6 ppl in a 2-3 bedroom flat with 1 toilet to use

has anyone seen "Shine on You" with Bobby + Kenix + Yu + Roy Chow + a bunch of youthful actors... I seriously think that its turning into that "4-leaf clover series" (sorri: I forgot the english name of the series! )

From the series I have seen recently, I recommend everyone rent/watch "War and Beauty"... I think its very good ..even though other series have been of high calibre as well (eg. To Catch the Uncatchable, To Get Unstuck in Time)... I seriously think that everybody acted well in the series, partly 'cos all the actors/actresses are the older more experienced ones, and the storyline is very intertwining... not as predictable as some others which have aired earlier this yr

I realli hope that the 4 ladies - Maggie + Gigi + Shereen + Charmaine - do get the best acting couple/group award this yr at TVB anniversary... last yr, it was won by jessica + roger

-----------------------
jessica + jessca ....ahhhh.... u are making me confused  (if it wasn't for ur banners + avatars... I thought some dumb noob was double posting)...but its good that ppl are still coming to this thread

I watched K-100 the other day and I thought it totally spoiled WAB for me. They revealed so much and I hate it when they do that. I remember they did that with Thresold of an Era(?) and it totally ruined the show for me.

I started watching Shine On You yesterday and it's interesting although I would have to agree with sesamestreet about it being similar to Hearts of Fencing (Is that the name?). But I love Bobby so it makes it worth it to watch. But has anyopne realised that Kenix looks really really old in it?

Oh yeah they have a new series of the four leaf clover one and this time it has Joe Ma in it as the coach and they play Volleyball haha, can't wait to see the sexy bodies on the beach :D

waaaaahhhhh!!! :excited: i've just started on WAB and it is SO good!!!
yes! the calibre of the actors just blow me away! i'm so impressed with Sharon (the evil concubine). she is such a great actress!
Moses and Bowie are fantastic so far too! i like how there's an element of mystery behind all the characters...i've watched about 9 episodes and i'm still unsure whether Moses, Charmaine, Gigi and the queen are meant to be good or bad.... i'm really suspicious of Gigi's character tho....and she's so annoying!

I haven't started on Shine on You yet....what's the story about?

jessica
10-04-2004, 08:40 PM
i just finished "to catch the uncatchable" and the ending is kind of sad  ... but that makes it more memorable... it's boring to have happy endings all the time anyway

is WAB really that great?... i was worried that the dialogues will be too difficult to understand :worry: ... i might rent that later on.

ekyec
10-05-2004, 06:48 AM
I'm about half way through WAB, and for me, some of the dialogue is a bit too hard for me to understand properly, but i still get the whole gist of it. Anyway, I watch it with my mum, so she can help explain as well.

The women characters played in WAB are so evil..They plot, plan e.t.c just to get to go sleep with some king.. and then for the power they can get after it.
Sometimes some of the characters are so evil-like, I wanna squash em

anyway, its still so interesting watching the women fall and rise in they're status and power. I recommend you guys who haven't watched it to try it out too. It's pretty good entertainment.

jessica
10-06-2004, 08:42 PM
that's what i was worried about... but i'm sure that i can get my mom to explain when i don't understand too... this series does seem to have an interesting plot... i think it should be entertaining to see how these women scheme to get to the top and then fall out of power... thanks for exlpaining ekyec

WAB is such a huge drama in HK right now...I don't know if it's over or not though, I think the day before I left HK, it began showing and I watched the first episode...everyone's so evil! It's insane! I want to watch it though...the plot seems interesting how they all try to fight for the king's favor.

But my favorite favorite drama of all time HAS to be without a doubt "Point of No Return". The beginning was so funny, the part with Chi Lam and Charlene was so funny how they'd get back at each other. The middle is SO SAD. I remember I had to keep using my tissue or my shirt...hahaha...but even when I just think back about a scene or something I get really sad and feel like crying...ahhh it was the best drama ever, the acting was SO good. If you never watched it, you MUST.

WAB has finished airing in HK on the weekend with 41 pts rating...but during the last week (eps 25-30) it got quite low like 24-26 pts because of all those chinese holidays (1/10)...

I like Alex + Yoyo together, esp. in BF2 with her as the naive wife "Yan" who tried to do her best for the husband

the series has a very strong movie-like feel to it so I am told.... but the first episode is a bit boring apparently and the dubbing of the Thai actors/actresses is not all that good

this starts airing on TVBJ (in Australia) on Monday 8:30..replacing WAB

War and Beauty has been a step up from regular TVB series

and I loved Triumph in the Skies, some people though some parts were boring
but I actually found it kind of educational when they were learning about planes ahah

panda_shine
10-09-2004, 03:44 AM
Yeah I loved Triumph of the Skies too!! I didn't find it boring or anything..

About War and Beauty, I kind of want to watch it but kinda not. Well the reason why I want to is because it seems so popular in HK. It seems like everyone is so hyped about it! It also have a lot of good people in it. But I am not TOO interested because it's like an ancient series..and I am not too much of a fan of ancient series..

Is anyone watching Sunshine Heartbeat? I watched the first episode of it.. and so far I really like it!

mystic_heaven
10-09-2004, 06:32 PM
Yeah I like ancient series too
but the only thing that is absolutely annoying in War and Beauty is when Gigi Lai talks
and especially when she's crying or yelling
I swear she has a breathing problem

jessica
10-12-2004, 08:22 PM
mystic_heaven : she has a breathing problem talking too... you can hear her sucking in air each time she speaks!... my mom was telling me how annoying that was from previous series she starred in... there are some female actors like that too >.<

panda_shine : i was afraid to watch WAB because of the dialogues... i'm worried that i can't understand what they are saying and being lost throughout the series.

i really want to start "split second"

mystic_heaven
10-13-2004, 01:13 AM

and it's a real pain listening to Gigi talk especially when you notice it

I remember in that' Huc Ye Choi Hung'....forgot the English title
it had Ada Choi in it and stuff, with logistics etc...
anyways...that's when I really started noticing her breathing
her other series, I didn't really pay attention

10-13-2004, 01:58 AM
I started to watch "Split Second" this week ...... I found it realli boring!!

Firstly, it cuts into too many different places and characters within a short space of time...then it makes it very confusing indeed!

Secondly, I can see so much resemblance with Internal Affairs (Andy Lau, Tony Leung) and PTU .... I mean there was this scene where the "traids" were having hotpot/steamboat talking about their "business" ...such a copycat to IA...even the lighting and feel about the whole thing is so alike

I also don't like the storyline....what does it want to convey anyway ?

And to the dubbing of the Thai actors...it was realli bad....the tone of the dubbed voice was not even right for that scene  ....but sometimes they just leave the dialogue in Thai, then you have to watch the subtitles at the bottom

i think i'm only watching it for the Yoyo + Alex pairing again....Yoyo plays a simple-minded character again which I realli like to see her in, esp. after BF2

What did you guys think of the ending to WAB?

I absolutely loved it, it wasn't at all expected like most TVB series endings.

I haven't started watching Spilt Second yet. I'm still trying to finish the final episodes of TOB, it's so boring! I fast forward all the parts where they're fighting to make the episode finish faster LOL

What's the other show screening on TVBJ at 7pm? Is that Split Second?

jessica
10-13-2004, 08:38 PM
sesamestreet : ah, is it that bad? =(... now i'm doubting if i should rent it or not... i might just try a few episodes to see if i can tolerate it... i only want to see alex and yoyo pair up again too.

Jessica: I finally watched the end. I think I missed out on some parts because I left the room while they were fighting LOL but anyway I thought it was okay. Umm...should I label this as a spoiler?

Anyway, Raymond dies right? I think he sacrificed himself because they had all those preminitions(?) that him and Ron were going to be killed by Say Mun (haha I don't know the actors name). And it's been ten years and nothings happened between Ronn and that girl (damnit I'm really bad at remembering actors names). Actually I don't even get it either >_<

Would anyone like to explain whose seen the ending?

I'm kind of a addit of hk series... may all time favourite would be buring flames[烈火雄心] and return of the cuckoo [十越出五的月光/澳門街].
The current one i love is War and Beauty [金枝餘孽]. all the actors in it was very good... have anyone else seen it?

SPOILERS:

nupengyou : i know that part, but i don't understand what happens at the very end when raymond pops back out... they were having this long dialogue about their loves... from what i remember, what raymond said doesn't sound like he died at all... i thought he was suppose to be dead after giving his "life force" to ron? :?

hey
raymond and ron let say mun kill them because they thought he would be one only one that could rule the country properly and stop all the wars and become a good king. Ron came back to life because raymond sacrified the remainder of his strengh he got from cheung sun kut and wo si bik to ron so he can come back and see if say mun lives up to his promises and become a good king. the end is quite confusing but i think that raymond is really dead but ron can still communicate with him though their powers. Or he could of been just imaging it....

I agree i love the ending of WAB its a great way to end it, there woundnt be any better way. i hope they make a pre or sequal. On jadebiz they asked charmaine and gigi... i think...if they would like it to be a prequal and they said they do but they dont think they could act like their 12/13 years old cos in the current WAB their suppose to be 16/17...lol...

i find Split Second very slow... and i dont like the other thing that is on TVBJ atm as well i dont know what its call.. it has gong wah in it... he turns into a god or some thing...

Hey thanks for the explanation iamdai It makes so much more sense now. Haha I really shouldn't walk out of the room for half the episode >.<

Yeah I also hope there's a prequel to WAB but it would most likely be more about the queen and Shermaine(?)(Yu Fei) wouldn't it?

Oh I finally watched the other show on TVBJ, In the Realm of Fancy and I kinda like it but it seems to star mostly C-grade actors. I like Gong Wah so i'm going to continue to watch it =P

Split Second Is alright from what I've seen so far...and Moses is so hot in it  lol But I don't like how all the episodes end at 12am it seems a little unrealistic. And it's also slow. I thought every episode would be action packed like the US tv series 24 but it's not. Hopefully things will speed up. Has anyone realised Mandy Cho is a really bad actress? I know it's her first tv series but she seems really stiff and it appears as though she has trouble with saying her lines.

nupengyou> I think why they end on 12:00am is because each episode is supposed to represent what has happened in one day...

That's why Marco asked that "Long Wong" (in episode 1) what would happen in 30 days time (ie. after 30 episodes).....I personally do not like the idea either

but Split Second is getting better after more is revealed

As to the other series on @ 7:00 with Kong Wa and Shirley Yeung.... it's not as complicated to watch since the storyline is simple but I don't like the ppl in it... since there is hardly any good actors/actresses which I like in there!
