View Full Version : Don't you just hate the "yousendit" website?

Gosh,I seriously dislike this website so much! Is this the only site to use? I wanted to download the MVs at Jay's Multimedia. All the people there uses "yousendit" website. And all are expired. After 7 days or 25 download the whole thing will be expired and no recover? Gosh! Why can't people use briefcase?

yeah....yousendit is frustrating...i dont even know why they'expire' everything..so stupid ><

they cant simply host everything thats being hosted in them right?besides, its foc.

and ysi is great. Just that too many people keep asking for reuplaods, simply ignoring the briefcase that is available. Now that is more irritating than ysi expiring.

you can use megaupload and a lot of in the internet. its just that ysi is more commonly used in here.

one thing is YSI is damn easy to use and its damn useful for people like me who dont know how the heck the yahoo briefcase works.

if you wanna download something and it appears to be an expired YSI link, just request for a mirror. its either you do this or you learn to use the yahoo ones or just simply go somewhere else to get the downloads.

yeah.. yousendit service is kinda irritating sometimes.. coz all the files always end up expried.. >.<

charmian.. do you have jay's videos?? like the one he got called up for a birthday party.. or somethin lidat..? or his live concerts?? if so, please reupload so we can download pls.. pls??

i love yousendit to bits. downloads of ginormous files are lightning speed fast. it is convenient for us who upload and for those who download. if you happen to be too late, then that is too bad. yahoo briefcase is a pain in the ass. it perpetually pmses and can take forever for downloading as well. i don't see why yousendit has no right to let their files expire. look, they give you a leeway of up to 1GB. any idea how huge that is? if hundred millions of people were to upload stuff each day, how do you expect them to contain those permanently? the website will just explode. considering that its so amazingly convenient, fast, user-friendly and best of all free, i give two thumps up to yousendit.

cheryl_jay it looks like you are requesting in the wrong place, if charmian never looks in here again, you're not gonna get your file. :D

yes! i think it's really useful. but REALLY inconvienient. however, it really helps control the downloads soo. i guess it has good points and bad.
haha but for people who want to download mvs and stuff. and who don't go online that often. yeah. i understand how you feel. hehe

YSI has it's own pros and cons. Pro - easy to use, convenient. free. Cons - well, you know them already. But yahoo has it's own problems too! It's server is down MOST OF THE TIME. It's just as irritating when you click on the file, but can't download it. We do use megaupload here as mentioned by someone else earlier. However, YSI is still preferred over megaupload cuz for megaupload, you have to wait about 45 seconds before you can download the file!!

People use yousendit because is fast. Megaupload is slow but last longer.
Briefcase suck...I think you can upload only up to 5MB per time... And sometime the link don't work.
I still wondering why no one use come2stores here... I think is permanent link too. And you can upload up to 10MB... :D

Hehehe, I'm a fan of YSI. It's very easy to use for people like me who know absolutely nothing about the whole d/l genre. With YSI, I just click and d/l. Done :)

I could ask my brother to read about the briefcase thing...but why when I can use YSI, so easy!

YSI is not such a bad site ... yahh its faster then megaupload .. but lasts shorter ... takes pretti long to upload -_- .. but so does megaupload

have anyone thought of using FTP instead? .. or is that too much

YSI has its pros and cons like any other server thats lets you upload stuff.. but i've been getting really frustrated with it lately not cuz of the non-permanent links or anything but cuz whenever i try to upload stuff for people, the links never work. boo )=

savefile.com! yay! it saves the day :wink2:

currently, i prefer SF over YSI.. just cuz YSI is being a butt [even though VERY convienent.. except when its working obviously, lol] but SF has been pretty user-friendly to me.

briefcase.. great for when i download stuff from other people cuz its a permanent link.. but not great when i can never get it to work =/

*sigh* junnleenfaah = so computer illiterate

Why are you asking for files in a thread about YSI? The better thing to do would have been to PM charmain.

back to the topic.
Yes, YSIs does have its disadvantages, but don't forget, that it's up to the person who's sharing the file, whether they want to use YSI, briefcase, megaupload or whatever else, to upload their file. It might be frustrating for you when links expire, but you can request for them to be reuploaded, within reason, as stated here. (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/announcement.php?f=87&announcementid=54)

As for briefcase, it has its disadvantages too. It plays up too much (can't access the DL page for whatever reason), big files need to be split first before uploading, and it's slow.

personally I don't hate YSI. It works for me whenever I need to upload something and it's freakin faster and less moody than briefcase.

YSI ain't really THAT bad. Look at megaupload, urghh, it takes FOREVER to upload. though their 'life' is much much longer. Oh wells, I still prefer YSI and yahoo. They're the best. Yahoo, doesn't really give much problem to me. it's getting better and better.

YSI rocks!! ^^ Simple, fast, easy! That's what I have to say. Browse, click and upload your files right away!! And the download is really fast!! I can say that YSI is my favourite cos it is really convenient!!

Just bear in mind that nothing is perfect. You can't expect a good website with unlimited uploads and downloads. Like YSI, if the files were to be stored permenantly, there will be less efficiency. I think this is why uploading and downloading from megaupload is much slower, cos they store the files until nobody downloads them for 30 days.

cool!! briefcase might be a lil troublesome, but hey, it's always the best cos it's permanent right?? hehe.. i just read about the WinRar programme in the help/feedback site.. it really helps!! eheh.. thanx a bunch..

YSI links are useful for me as i am not familiar with yahoo briefcase.

yousendit links really work fast (: although sometimes it expires REAL fast also.

oh well, but asking for a mirror wont harm eyy ? hehh.

megaupload takes SUPER long to download thats why i dont use that.

i think yousendit is still the best for me (:

i think Yousendit is working perfectly..it expires after 7 days..bacause it takes money to host things on the web..and yousendit to us is free to use..in addition..the download is fast and is better than yahoo which is often down.. sign..

however..one thing i don't like is that i have to click a few times, a few pages before the final download takes place..so i think it will be better if it bring me to a page where i can start downloading immediately.. lazy me :D

YSI is really very convenient. But why must it be expired? There's 20 over thousands of members here surfing around, how is 25 downloads enough to share?
Does anyone has any of Jay's MVs? I'm searching for it everywhere and because of this YSI I wasn't able to download it. Do please send me a link or something to where I can ger Jay's MVs or concerts. Thanks people.

wrong place to post a request. :) Anyway, i guess the best way to solve the ysi's limited download problem is to buy his cds. They have all the mvs and concert clips.

no ysi, no briefcases and tada! unlimited DL! hah.

Again the server thing, think of MILLIONS and GAZILLIONS GIGS of stuff stored on that site... that just doesn't work.

And sometimes, we might not want to share the file to all the "20 over thousands of members", if you get my drift.

suddenly people are requesting in this thread? :glug: tsk tsk

I like ysi. It's easy to use except when the site blocks the link before anyone gets a chance to dl... but for big files (100+MB), it's heaven-sent.

Gosh! Why can't people use briefcase?
Because leechers can get to it too easily

If Jay mvs are what people are itching to get, become a JCnet-regular member :wink2:

08-14-2005, 05:52 AM
haha i think yousendit is useful, although the 25 downloads is a little too little, but there's always the chance that there're multiple uploads and one of them will be working hopefully ;) haha

but i think its really one of the really more convenient downloading ways. my friend even use it to upload projects like powerpoint with big file size for th whole class to download at once cos the class size is around 20. so its useful yea. we jus have to send an email with the ysi link without chalking up the mailbox. haha

but when it expires, DANG. haha

08-14-2005, 07:59 AM
Yousendit is really useful since can upload until 1GB & faster~~!!! Only problem is the file will expires :shy:
Compare with megaupload which take forever either upload or download & new rules 250mb above need to download through premier

cookielmy: :? total 1 briefcase size = 30MB with 5MB per file. Upload all MVs with briefcase :glug:

YSI is really very convenient. But why must it be expired?....
:hmm: You should ask the YSI website why the file will expired....
may be download through internet is illegal, therefore the file cant keep longer... that's my guessing only

The files will expire for the simple fact that it is a temporary file sharing program so that everyone AROUND THE WORLD can share files. And they are providing a FREE service with a limited amount of band width so why are you even complaining about a FREE SERVICE that works wonderfully ?

Good grief.

Maybe someone should change the title of this thread to : How much we love YSI.

i sure do hate YSI! it's a good thing better sites are coming along and making YSI obsolete. use megaupload instead

a lot of people seem to think that YSI is for sharing among hundreds of members of a forum. but really, it's only supposed to be used for email. since email attachments can't exceed 10MB, YSI links are supposed to solve that problem.

I agree. The fact is that everyone is looking for something thats fast, can upload large files, last forever, and most importantly be free. Its like looking for gold in a pile of bronze, and when you find silve you complain. Common now, its still by far better than most anything else. As great as Megaupload is, its still incredibly slow, and still does have a chance of the files dying, which most of which problaby will at some point.

It's extremely irritating when the files get expired... That's a major inconvenience. But I'm grateful whenever it works plus many of my downloaded files come from them!! I don't like it when they tell me the file is too old... too bad there's not much other better ways to download yet, I think.

Even YSI gets expired,at least give more time limits and more downloads. Not just 7 days with 25 downloads?!

jay_gf
08-17-2005, 04:20 AM
yes YSI can be annoying like at the beginning when I first tried uploading on YSI it took me hours to upload this file which wasn't even 5 megs, and even then it hadn't finished uploading! I was thinking it was such a gay program, but then I tried again and its all good now. I have to admit the download speed is great! Its way more faster than briefcase or megaupload, even though if you have many people trying to download the file, it will quicky wither away~~

Yousendit isn't that bad. Sure, the files expire after like a week, but if they let you keep the files forever, they would be LOSING money, and that would mean no more yousendit for you guys. Come on, yousendit is a free service, don't expect to be catered with a silver platter.

Besides, yousendit files download in lightning speed. I usually get 300-400 kb/sec with the YSI links, while with anything else I'll get 50-175 kb/sec.

I find it pretty resourceful.

An elegant site with no pop-ups, fast servers and has a huge capacity. Just look at the statistic on the bottom of their page and how much data is being transferred.

Of course, the only downside is the time limit but, 7 days is generally enough time to grab things. Besides, people can always re-upload - it doesn't take that much effort to do that!

cheryl_jay
09-03-2005, 10:23 AM
i'm starting to change my points of view abuot You Send It..
instead now, i think it's pretty good.. except for the fact that it expires in 7 days..
other than that, it's good coz u dun have to register or anything like that.. saves alot of time..
and it's simply easy to understand how to function it.. ^^
it's not that bad.. :D

I'm a yousendit lover.

Uploads up to 1GB, convenient, easy to use, no annoying pop-ups and fast upload/download time. And it's FREE.
I used to upload to briefcase in the past and it annoys me to no end. Besides, briefcases are not permanent all the time. The server can just go down anytime.

So hallelujiah to yousendit, for me.

Though it is a fact that everyone know that yousendit only allows 25downloads per download or within 7 days, it is the best website providing fast download at high downloading speed regardless of the file size... not like megaupload which takes really long to download and sometimes unable to load the page.

I have no reason to hate YouSendIt. It bugs me when people post downloads using YouSendIt. YSI is meant for emailing files to individual people, not for forums of thousands of members.

I personally hate Yahoo Briefcase because folders tend to disappear after awhile for no reason. I think people should use Megaupload or Sendspace or another alternative.

I actually like YouSendIt. The expiring period is there for a reason (the file is for one person).. It's fast too. SendSpace is okay, it just doesnt work at all on my IE so I have to copy the link to Netscape and then use it. Eh well it's worth it. I love Megaupload usually though! :-)

I don't get why people love Yousendit too. It's my least favourite hosting site because it expires damn fast. I don't care about the download speed though because I always leave my computer on 24/7.

And I don't know why people hate Megaupload so much. It's my favourite site. All the files last for very long. Very long as in one year plus. With regular downloads of course. If you can access to the Downloads & Links section, you can see that all the remaining threads after the massive clean up done these few weeks mostly contain Megaupload links (and other permanent links of course but we're talking about free hosting sites here).

YSI's okay I guess. It's TONS better than Megaupload. Megaupload hates me for some reason. Everytime I try to download something from there, it tells me there's no space..... Stupid thing. Anyway, back to YSI, I guess they expire things in order to keep their bandwidth up as all those downloads will be taking up a lot of space. It's really convenient though. Just click!

Nowadays everywhere I go I hardly ever see yousendit being used anymore. I see loads of megauploads though, and it has replaced yousendit as the MOST irritating website ever in my list because everytime I try to download from there, it tells me that all 100 slots for my country [Malaysia] are currently in use and please try again later. Everytime. I hate it.

I've heard about this new service called www.box.net where they offer you 1GB of space and unlimited bandwidth to store files. You can store files over there and make them public so your friends can go grab them. I've been using it for a while to share project and assignment files but they're nowhere near the size of MVs. It might be worth to try though, if it works then it will be good to replace the now seemingly non-functional Yahoo Briefcase.

Maybe we can make several Box.net accounts and open the user ID and password in the Multimedia section so that JCNet users can access it and download the files within, that's what I do with my friends. If I have the time I'll try making an account and uploading the Still Fantasy MVs.

You can also upload the files and get a "public link" for the files, the same way that MegaUpload, Rapidshare and YSI works. This is for if you don't want to give out your user ID and password.

It will look something like this:
http://www.box.net/public/6ocgpmjdcf (this is my case reading for my class BTW, just read it for fun)

yousendit is the most useless thing. lol yes, you can upload till 1GB but what's the use when it expires in 7 days or after 14 downloads? total waste of time. i believe there are better and longer lasting uploads services such as sendspace and savefile.

The nice thing about Yousendit is how quickly the files are downloaded.

But the seven day rule isn't that great. D:
I try uploading videos and music to megaupload because of that.
It's a more permanent site.
