I assume you're using Windows Media Player to watch these shows?
Go To - Tools > Options > Performance > See 'Video Performance' and move the pointer to 'None'. This should solve the problem and Print Screen will hold no difficulties.

just to clarify, dana means change "video acceleration" to none under performance, although you could probably figure that out since there's nothing else to change to none :D

Hey cute_narutokun You can also do this too if you have Windows Movie Maker!
Check if you do by going to Start then All Programs then Accessories and then Entertainment!.
I've attached some visual directions too!
First go to "File" and Import Into Collections.
[So there you just choose your video file basically! Hehe]
(The Pictures Are Large So Just Click Below To View  )

After once it has loaded (should just take a couple of seconds) you select the clip you want as your screen shot. So you click the "Take Picture" button! Like this.....

Now you done and then you can open it in Paint or a Photoshop etc to edit or do whatever you want to that screen shot!! :wink2:
Hope that helped!!!!

i could've sworn there was an old topic on making screencaps in which both JianDan[Ai] and i posted the instructions. i guess it got cleaned up... anyway...

for files that you need Real Player to watch, you can do screencaps by going to:
Tools > Preferences... > Hardware > in the Videocard Compatibility section - slide the tab from Best performance to Most reliable and click OK. Then use Print Screen to make caps as usual.
same idea as Windows Media Player really.

If you're thinking about taking a lot of screencaps, go for the long term solution.
Use a player like BSplayer (bsplayer.org) to capture screens, which you can do with the press of a key (P for BSplayer).
Obviously, when you decrease hardware acceleration, your video quality suffers greatly, so it's very annoying to have to tweak your settings everytime you want to capture an image.

^ no, BS Player does not support files you can play with RealPlayer. i don't really know of any programs that play RealPlayer media other than RealPlayer itself. so, if you must screencap from RealPlayer files, then just follow the instructions i provided above. for other files though, BS Player should be fine.

I am using the Windows Media Player 9. And when I wanted to do a screen shot, the "help" said that it needed to be a DVD feature? and where is the "print screen" option? In the tool bar? cause I can't find it....
any kind of help would be much appreciated!

"print screen" is on your computer keyboard. it's located on the right hand side right beside the F12 key and above the Insert key. it's not on the media player. did you change the settings under Tools > Options > Performance?

it's ok. you probably just didn't realize. you're welcome.
another good player like BS Player where you can do screencaps without changing the performance is GOM Player, which is a korean media player. :-) it works great and even helps you "fix" problematic or draggy clips. it's what i use now.

:thanks: to wackycashew and scarletwillow!
I'm actually using Hover Screenshot now but I found it rather troublesome to change the settings everytime I wanted to make some caps.. Thanks for recommending some other alternatives..

i'm using the windows media player, but when i was using wackeycashew's example, i couldn't find the "take picture" icon on my clip. i separated a goong episode, and they made over like..400 clips. ~_~ on one of the clips, i wanted a certain part of it, but i was looking all over for the "take picture" icon. it didn't have that. the last two icons were "full screen" and "split clip." i wanted to take a picture of one parts of that clip. i tried to just press print but that didn't work. help anyone?
does anyone know how to generally just take a screen shot, that includes the desktop and the background? like, i tried it once but i forgot how. i thought it was to press the print screen button but that didn't work. =/
even if i do press "print screen" i'm not sure if they even took a screenshot..where do i check for the screenshots just to make sure?
also, like lovingjay, i tried to take a screen shot using windows media player and it said it could only be used while i was using a dvd. so i can't take an image using windows media player either >.<

And if you are finding the 'take picture' button in win media player, you won't find it. There is no such function.

yep you need to set something in the windows media player before pressing 'print screen'
Go To - Tools > Options > Performance > See 'Video Performance' and change "video acceleration" move the pointer to 'None'.windows movie maker is used when you want to combine, cut, make a new clip. And you don't know how to use media player :?

I just use a program called Snapz, it's quite simple. Just open App choose Screenscreenshot option and wham! A screenie is saved to where ever. You could also do capture your screen to.
Too bad it's only for mac, but here's a couple of programs you should try.

It's trial though!

On a laptop, how do I take a screenshot during a game that takes up a whole screen? Because unlike desktop, there's not button that says "screen shot."
