Indonesian's band "TOFU" sings jay's song

:crazy: Do you guys know (esp.indonesian fans) that band from ind sings jay's "Ai Zai Xi Yuan Qian" in INdonesian languange. I wonder if they have had a legal permition on that ?!
about the song itself they just make that lovely song turn bad!!

lol...there are quite a few of jay songs which have been sung by different artists....we have a few in the jay music forum....

they can sing it...as long as they don't make money from it i guess....otherwise they need to get copyright permission...i think

Uhmmm... guys... this topic has been discussed before. :? It's the song sang by TOFU "Cinta Abadi" derived from Jay's "Love in BC". Since they both were under BMG, so TOFU officially made a request to borrow Jay's Love in BC melody, while Jay's management leave them to do the lyric.

mm tofu already made the MV but i haven't see it, but OF COURSE no jay...the song is quite good, but the lyric isn't too good..well, tofu admitted that they are jay's fans since the fantasy album... :D

Yes I think Indonesian bands or signers often imitated their songs from other countries' singers...some of them got permission from the original singers, some didn't :-x
But the songs turned out to be bad...cos they're taken from different language and when the lyrics are translated from one language to another language...sometimes they don't fit well and sound odd.

Yes , I've heard they sang the song(really trully a copycat!) , they copied jay's song! well , they sang it bad...

I don't think TOfu sang it badly. Actually, it's pretty good. And the music is nicely done too, b'coz it has the sound of strings in the background. And they didn't translate the lyric, they create their own lyrics.

And I think it's not only Indonesian singers and band that likes to use the tune from other bands and artists,... but mainly.... a lot of artists from different countries too. Now look at Comic Boyz with their version of asedeje, look at Weird Al Yankovich, Listen to Coco Lee's Baby Dui Bu Qi.. it's all borrowed from other songs. And for TOFU, they did got the permission b'coz they and Jay used to be under BMG.

i dont know .. bout the opinion that tofu being bad, not bad or good
but one thing that i know their capability of singing not so good ... its so so ... my friends once heard their perfomance on stage and ... kind of ... frustated ... hahaha
btw .. for jay's song that they sing ... its been a decade ago that become news here ... and they said ... the first time they wanna colaborate with jay but since jay so busy .. so they do it by tjeir self ... whats so annoying with the way they talked .. i saw it in interview on some channel tv here :((
anyway .. they said they already got the permission .... so the other hand can be said .. its legal ..

and ... still ... agree with some of u all here .. why they dont find their own music ....

I'm not a fan of TOFU, so I never really hear them sings, except their version of Love in BC. :oops:

What pissing me off... when they sing the their version of Love in BC in live performance on TV (Pesta Indosiar).... they only give the credit for the lyricist. So they write it on the bottom of TV = Composer : the lyriscist name (I don't know who, might be the girl), they didn't even write Jay's name on there. I was like.... HELLO!!!! Don't you supposed to put Jay's name first then the lyricist name after??? :-x

the sing but not that bad and abt the music It is quite diff from Jay's one but not that much different
