after watching the shuang dao mini movie that comes with the cd. i have a few comments to make :laughing:

i thought the action was awesome, but there were too many pauses where no sound whatsoever occured. i also thought there wasn't enough dialogue. why would they hire a famous hollywood actor if he was only going to say 3 lines. :? and i feel jay should've talked more. the constant curse beeping was quite unecessary. i groaned everytime i heard one. it disrupted the already not so smooth plot

well, jay had really little lines in the mini movie. but i liked the part where the girl tried to kiss him, but he turned it into some awkward hug..bravo jay!

and he looks really diao in the fighting part, just dont really like all those baddies..

haha..this movie version of the "double knife" mv was totally gay...but it had some great lines!

it was too funny! the stunt double in the fight scene was too obivious and his two friends just stand there and look cool...wtf?!

Somebody mentioned this somewhere - about the final scene where Jay hugs the woman. It's so cute that he actually drops his head on her arms instead of putting it anywhere near her shoulder! :)

Think he was afraid to smell her hair ? LOL!!!

The 'effects' in the fighting scenes were good. And I loved it when the baddie said."What are you going to do with that toothpick?" LOLLLLLL!!!!

I actually kinda like the Shuang Dao MV. BUt I agree that Jay should've had more lines. And I don't see anything wrong with his english pronounciation. :? It's quite weird though when the baddie said, "Mind your own biz bitch!" and the girl, "Who r u calling me a bitch, bitch?" then Jay showed up, talking in Chinese, "Shortie zai na li?" I cracked up everytime I heard that. Really, it's so weird. He should have use simple english like, "where is he?" It's not that hard.

And about the ecene of the hugging, it's so funny b'coz Jay's gesture when he hug her is funny. He's like hiding from something. And you can see he's so embarassed. Even when he gave the girl the orange and says, "For you." he didn't look her in the eyes. Well, I know that Jay must be shy, but still.... this is an acting right. At least the director could have told him to not looking too embarassed around the girl.

The fighting is really cool, and Jay did some awesome stunts there. (The one where he strangled one of the baddies with his legs).

And did you all pay attention that during the blade fight. Both Jay's and the bad guy's blade kinda moving each time it hits each other.... showing that the blade too much like a toy blade. And they slow-motioned the scene, which makes the movements of the blade so obvious.

And I think Shortie's chinese kinda awkward when he first talk in Chinese (I think the one when he asked about Jay's flower bracelet he kissed). :?

But the rest, the movie is cool. Jay's acting is okay. And I actually think it's very professionally made. :happy: I wish it's longer, though. 13 minutes of Jay is not enough for me. :oops:

i like this mini movie. i was laughing at it esp the fighting scenes... dunno why but i find them hilarious!

ya sum^mer, i noticed that their blade was fake too. there were too many slow-mos and the action sequences were a little too exaggerated.

jay spoke much less english den i thought he would. he looked nervous during the times he needed to speak eng, and when he had one-on-one moments with the grocery store girl.

after seeing jam's screen shots, esp the one where he rushed headlong into the hug, it was really funny.

hope jay has more of such mini movies in future.

It seem to have every single martial arts cliche in it, even the seemly impoosible to beat large black guy...o.O;; It was a cool MV with the fight scenes and all, but script wise and plot wise it was just terribly lame.....I mean WU TANG? *who still listens to them o.O???* and that girl was wayy ooglay too...I cringed at how she carried herself in the MV, and I cringed even more when Jay hugged her and stuffed his face into her arm o.O;;;;

Other than Jay's sweetie cute English, the fight scenes and of course the actual song, I really didn't like this MV much..... :oops:

i think the MV is "ok". the moves were pretty cool, but the plot was a bit slow-moving. the bleeping was annoying juz cuz we all know what is being bleeped. =0 as some of you said, jay could've had more lines. his english isn't bad... maybe he just wasn't confident enuf? i read somewhere that he only wanted to say simple stuff like "i help you" and "thank you", but didn't wanna try "where is my brother?" i don't think it would've been too difficult for him. maybe he would be too self-conscious while speaking english and didn't wanna mess up during the shoot. the hugging scene was hilarious! he practically dove his head into her arm instead of shoulder. heehee... our shy shy jay... :) and the orange... no real hug, but here's a consolation. haha... :laughing:

umm i think the mini movie was pretty cool... i love the part where jay 'supposedly' spoke english.. i thought its cute! hehehe...u can rarely see n hear jay talking in english... too bad he only spoke short n simple ones... i mean the others were literally speakin in english...and he's answering in chinese... :glug: hihi.. btw where was that taken ?in taiwan or smthing? and the moves were :yeah: oh...jay's just so cool...too bad he has that back disease..i really wished he could do all the stunts by himself... :oops:

the mv/short movie was cool. never seen J act b4 so was interesting to see how he "coped". also, seeing J on screen is always good coz i don't get many opportunities to see him on screen whether it be mvs or tv show appearances.
his acting is pretty good, but yah, i agree he should have tried a few more english lines. i mean considering he tried so hard to learn italian for the YFZM mv, he could have done the same for shuang dao.
that shop where the girl works looks familar....it looks like the one in the jackie chan movie "rumble in the bronx". :?

yeah..jay on this MV is very cool but doesn't have a lot of lines only a couple of lines..looks like the director doesn't want him to talk to much but to fight..but he is really really cool with the blades

the movie is hillarious. i don't know y but jL just hv that expression which cracked me up. specially on the last part. i agree that the 'hug' is so funny. i mean, even me bro hug me better in public (and he's very shy too). n the orange thing is funnier ('an orange for u?' hihi) but very cute. jL must try 2 shed his shyness on screen or disguised it coz it spoil the 'feel' of the movie.

the fight scene where jL used his double sword is the my fave. super diao! only the costume is overboard, specially the girl. she looks like she came out straight out of a comic book. i'm glad that jL is able to live out his hero dreams even if its only for a moment. i'm looking forward 2 see him use his newly acquired double sword fighting skill in a full movie as a baddie or goodie. o in his concert :excited:

REPLY: I think those blade are these Chinese blades that 'twang" so they look kinda flimsy. Think they'r used a lot in Chinese movies so don't think they're toys...

plot = a mixture of rumble in the bronx + romeo must die
editing = scattered, confusing, like Black Mask....stuttered & without flow
camera-style = matrix wanna-be....
costume: overdone
setting: curb on a street in LA chinatown, little grocery shop with oranges, pub.
feel: strange ultra-modern anime-like-but-not-quite...
other factors: corniness, stupidity, white guys with tattoos spanning half their body cussing out at jay, jay's brother named 'shorty' <-- that was the last straw.... :oops:

only watchable part: the part where jay takes out his double knives (and the short fight-scene following that)....the stance looked really kew...i must say that for someone who probably trained in wushu for like a week...he looks really good.
i like the ending tho, where he hugs the girl. i think his shyness makes the scene really believable and more real, not like just acting.
still i think nunchucks and even ninja are better than this mv, tho they probably costed about 1/10 the money to film.
i hope the mv version would be better cut....

it was ok. not so interesting that i'm dying to see it again. i thought it was very cute when he spoke english, but yah, also kind of weird when the little kid was speaking english and jay replied in mandarin. also, what was UP with that kid??? he bugggggged me...they could have picked a kid who spoke better english AND mandarin. ugh. and he didn't look cute at alll, nor like jay. sadly, i thought the little love thing between him and grocery girl was cute! :)

lastly, it just didn't look that real overall because you (or was it just me?) know that everytime they didn't show jay's face, it was his stunt double (my coach!). so all in all, i was impressed with the fighting...but was unconvinced that it was jay. stilllll....pretty sexy :)

the girl that was in it...i thought she did a great job too!! she also used to be on the beijing wushu team :)

The story was quite weird..it didn't make a whole lot of sense because jay had those two big asian "bodyguards" standing next to him", and the story just had a lot of weird stuff happening. Jay looked really good at the end..seems so shy :happy: but it was sorta funny how he kept on talking in chinese throughout the short movie except "HI", "thanks", "thank you", and "this is for you"...lol..quite hilarious..and he kept on nodding his head!
I like the "The Last Battle" short movie better..although this one has more dialogue

1st time i saw it..my mom was wid me..she was like jay speaks english?!?! i was like no...listen to his lines...he only said thank you...hi...and stuff....and yea...lol....thats it....its good tho..i think..i really liked it..except for parts where they are saying bad stuff and cussing at our jay TTOTT..but he kicked their ass neways lol...shortie was kinda cute too...its a great movie mv!

that movie thingy was sooo good!! wen he first spoke english i was already expecting that he was hardly gonna say any english for the rest of the movie. it was good how there were asian ppl in the gang otherwise he couldn't have communicated with the enemy at all. but it was so random how he was in that costume that said 'shuang dao'. coz i dun think if anyone were to save their lil bro from gangsters, that they would arrive there wearing a black shiny kungfu suit

i thought the mini movie was pretty funny. it took away all attention from the song. the ending was hiliarious. especially the hug when he sufficates himself in her arm. what was that? and the orange..."for you"... :laughing: you know, if he doesn't pay for it, it'll probably come out of her pay check.

the plot with shorty reminded me so much of rumble in the bronx. i think he's cantonese cause his last name is ng... unless i'm confusing the wrong name with the wrong person. that would explain why his mandarin is awkward in some parts. and jay spoke english pretty well. it's not like he said anything difficult.. they were all one syllable words but hey it's a start.

the fight scene was ok. pretty typical asian fight scene. i don't understand those two asian guys were there. they didn't do anything. what's up with all the swearing??? watch all the little kids in taiwan start saying s*** and b**** in class...not good.

but doesn't the match box look familiar?? it says snake pit on it. i swear i've seen that somewhere before.

That last bit when Jay gave the girl an orange is so funny...the girl works in the shop and Jay just randomly picks up an orange and gives it to her....wtf???!!!

My fav. bit is when the baddies go, "he thinks he's bruce lee or somethin"...and then there you hear this typical bruce lee scream (whooaaaa) and jay does this pose with his "toothpick"

I liked the mini movie. Pretty funny :happy: Fight scenes were decent. The costume jay was wearing looking really cool.

And that last seen was so hilarious! I couldn’t stop laughing throughout that whole scene!!!!!! When he gave her that orange he was so shy about it hehehe. Then when he HUGGED her! OMG that was the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen! So awkward lol! The way he put his head on her shoulder. Shouldn’t it be the other way around hehehe

personally i cring when i saw the mv- unneccesarrily long - poorly edited and the song played - unable to distingushed it all . really money wasted . the yi fu zi ming mv is excellent - tight story , sexy shots , great facial expressions of jay and song matching mv segments. wonderful. makes jay seem like a good actor in it.

haha...i agree with what everyone said...it's actually supposed to be cool and all, but some parts turn out to be quite funny! let's see...Jay said too little! he sounded great with short lines...dunno how he'll do with longer ones? heh...but think he'll be great judging from his italian in YFZM..he sounds ok in any lang i guess!

but overall the music was perfect with all the action. love the part where he was fighting the 2 warriors...esp the part with the lady...the whole fighting scene looks so streetfighter-ish!! i always get goosepimples when i watch the actions. and oh yeah, love the sound effects when the baddie said "he thinks he's Bruce Lee or something" and the background comes a bruce lee voice! tt was really wow...let's give some credit for his hard work ya? think he practised quite hard to even pose those stances! let's not say it's bad, it's kinda entertaining even though you could spot all the bad points in the film..at least it made me laugh! a bad film would put me to sleep. and the last part...haha..it was like a hug for his mother, not for a gf...heh.

I just saw Shuang Dao again on my VCD. Really think this MV is great! I think some people are taking it too seriously. It's just for fun! And I like the way the director made things over the top. It's cool la, so just enjoy! :excited:

i just watched this and i was laughing the whole time. who does jay think he is? jet li, donnie yen? and true, this movie was stereotypical, of how the ppl who want drugs and kidnap kids are all of one ethnicity and not another. but it was hilarious. if it were in a real life situation, jay'd probably run like hell. who wouldn't.

i like the part where he flourishes his twin blades and poses with one in front and one behind, so cool! also the part where the ganster leader asked if he was the one who did all the damage and he curtly nodded his head. he looked like a liitle kid trying to be brave and defiant when his mom caught him breaking a vase. he really looks like a kid, especially when he buried his head into the girl's elbow like hugging his mom or something.
