I found this free storage guide website upon searching online. I hope it can provide you guys who wants to use other alternatives than Yahoo! Briefcase.
http://www.freewebspace.net/guide/diskstorage.shtml
And I also found that there's a website offering unlimited amount of storage, which you have to register in order to upload, but no need to register to download. Also the content to be uploaded has to be illegal... http://www.filefront.com
And last one, which is mentioned in the first URL is http://www.savefile.com
no need for registration to upload, up to 60 MB each time, unlimited upload times.
NB:I havn't tried these out myself..yet but if anyone did, please give some feedback and comments. thanks!

Freewebspace isn't bad, but the idea of having to make accounts is a bit annoying.
Filefront is gaming stuff only.
Not sure about savefile.

Savefile seems pretty user-friendly to me.
60MB with unlimited downloads seems pretty fine, only catch:
All files with no downloads for 14 days will be deleted.
So not a permanent link unlike Yahoo Briefcase.

I have another suggestion for file storage here: The File Bucket (http://www.thefilebucket.com/).
It provides 100MB of file spaces...and images, documents, music, video, zip, rar, flash files etc. can be uploaded. =)
It's a much better choice than My File Stash (http://myfilestash.com/), which only allows 25MB of file storage and don't take in .RAR, .WMV, WMA, MP3 and .MOV files.

I’m confused by the difference between a free file hosting and a free web site hosting. Are they the same or not? Can I use a free file hosting to host my website?

When you are hosting a website, you are essentially hosting .html files, so technically yes, they are the same. However, file hosting usually involves hosting larger files like music and video, so bandwidth consumption will be much higher than just a website host.

savefile.com seems to be working better for me nowadays. i've been having problems with YSI lately so using savefile.com is my backup and the uploads are actually faster than YSI in my opinion. pretty user-friendly, i like it

http://www.web.dragon.ag2.us/cgi-bin/easyhost.cgi has 5 gig storage space and unlimited amount of bandwidth. In short, it's a free unlimited webhosting site.

i suggest www.filelodge.com
File Lodge is a free file hosting provider especially designed to look after you and your files.
We offer a huge 500MB of file storage and support almost all file extensions, such as jpg, gif, mpg, avi, wmv, doc, pdf, mp3 etc
Bandwidth is unlimited.
What is a file host? A file host is a website that allows you to upload files to it's servers, you are then provided with links for you to post on your favourite forums / webpages / blogs / auctions / in emails, anywhere you wish!
Perfect for sharing photos/images, music, and video with friends and family.
We generate various linking codes for you files, from [IMG] tags to music and video codes. This allows you to quickly and easily get your files live wherever you are using them.
u may upload 50 MB at a time (files greater than 50 MB can be splitted into few parts)
u need to register first. dont worry. its free and easy
u'll get direct link
speed... hmm okay! tho still slower than ysi
hope this helps :)
