Rather than post a flood of different bands, I just thought I would post this one post, and list a few rather unknown bands. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of them except for me and a few japanese people....
Some are fairly popular, but I haven't seen them on this thread, or on the "search" results...
X-Japan
A hard-rock band ~ mostly ~ which has a few well-known songs such as Dahlia, etc. Their Ballad Cd comes more in line with something a Jay fan would like. "Crucify My Love" is a must have.
Charcoal Filter
An upcoming rock band that focuses on the 16-19 year olds. Their "Brand New Myself" is especially good.
Concerto Moon
Hard rock, basically a japanese metallica. The lyrics are surprisingly good ~ for more than a few songs, althought the beat is hard to find for raving.
Go!Go!7188
Two girls and a guy, rock-style. Hilarious sense of humor in lyrics ~ movie videos are a must see. Movies are actually better than most of their songs. Best movie is "Paper Keiba" ~ you will laugh, I swear XD.
Day After Tomorrow
The cutest girl I've ever seen ~ especially in the music video "Faraway", and the two guys with style I love. Makes me want to change from Chinese to Japanese.
Pierrot
Great overall songs, strong lyrics. Just a great band in general ~ one of my tops for japanese music.
Porno Graffitti
Don't let the name throw you ~ its not "dirty", but rather like Pierrot in that its a great band, and one of my favs.
Supercar
Possibly the best indie band of all time, they mix a variety of styles and beats. Their "BE" music video is the best I've seen ~ definitely. Extremely deep lyrics like for "sunday people" make them truely great. My favorite Japanese indie band ~ almost on par with my opinion of Laraku.
The Back Horn
Hard rock based on the flaws in society. Biting social commentary in a flowing style, but its similarity will get you bored of the yelling fairly quickly.
