I looked around and I don't think anyone had started this thread. This is the first time I'm starting a thread too, hope I didn't make any mistakes or whatever. :shy:

Well, I'm just interested to find out how Jay fans in Singapore wear when they are out on the street or going shopping. Well, there are many style out there such as the Hip-hop, and the Japanese-styled. So what's is your style?

Well, I'm perfer simple clothing such as jeans. T-shirt, polo-tee or long sleeves shirts. Quite simple through. And perhaps with a necklace to go with it. :-)

Well, what about you guys? Perhaps you can share some fashion tips and how you like to be dressed when going out here. Hehes. :glug:

Hi. Hehes. Wow, you're the first to reply. Hahas.
Mmm, I don't usually wear sexily, haha. Probably because i'm too conservative? Hahas. Oh, i like wearing sort of hip-hop too sometimes. I like to hide myself under a cap and shades when I got out. Probably due to influence of Jay that I like wearing caps so much. Hahas. Is the avatar you? Curious to know. Hehes.

I'm more of a tomboy so I wear whatever I feel like wearing, or sometimes I'll just grab whichever piece is on top. I have a wide range of clothes, the usual jeans and shirt, Harajuku style, hip hop and bling blings, rocker style, I even have guys clothes. When I do think, I'll mix and match the clothes so they're usually different each time. Guess this doesn't really answer your question huh. ><"

05-25-2005, 12:43 PM
You did answer my question. Haha. Anyway, this is a thread for people to talk about their fashion sense, so you did answer. hahas. Btw, may i know what's "bling blings" style like? Hehe, don't really know. You sort of like me, I don't wear skirt too. DOn't know why. Hahas. I wanna try but I dont dare to, don't know why. You seems really good with your clothes. I'm think of digusing as a guy and out of the street one day. Wait till I got every clothings ready. Hahas.

Lol, glad I answered. Blings blings are like those metal chain necklaces and diamond earrings/rings which those badass rappers in America always wear. It's part of the hip hop culture, but now I seldom wear those already, I'm more into Harajuku styles now. I've been mistaken as a guy before when I wear guys' clothes, coz I'm quite tall, heh. And yeah, I don't wear skirts either! My mom's always giving me hell for not wearing skirts, ha, maybe in the future.

I'm a Malaysian but I'm just here to drop few words. I used to wear what my sisters wear, you know, those more ladylike attire.
But my dad kept teling me that I should make my own style but not followin ppl's footsteps. So I kinda change a lot recently. I begin to wear mini skirts, wear caps, sports shoes. Basically, I'm more like a 'TEENAGER' now..hahhaha... :D

Do you guys know what's 'lala'? it's a term created by Malaysian for those people who have no sense of dressing. They would wear some attire that they THOUGHT it's COOL when it's super lame to us...
Just to tell those who doesn't understand this word.

Anyway, if I may ask, what's Harajuku Style?

I dress sort of casually when i go out. Tank tops, jeans and sometimes dangly earrings to match. But recently, i started to like wearing those v neck tops plus a tube inside. :D It seems like a trend now in singapore. My jeans are always those low cut hipster kind.

-zhoujielunrocks

i dress casually when i go out. shirt and jeans. any shirt to match the jeans. just plain white shirt! im into white shirt nowadays. but sometimes just shirt and a mini-denim skirt. matched with a necklace. hmmm. my jeans are like jiali's. hipster sorta jeans. i think those are rather in the trend now? but i NEVER wear dresses out. really NEVER. i dislike wearing dresses. i rather skirts. but most of the times jeans. yeaaa.

jiali
05-25-2005, 02:14 PM
-zhoujielunrocks, yep i don't wear dresses too. I'll feel awkward! Moreover, wearing dresses out seem kinda outdated now.

Yea! Finally JCnet is back to normal! Or is it mi? :? Okay, whatever. Hahas. :D

indigo - Oh yah! My mum always asked me to wear skirts too! Hahas. But i still get jeans. I wanna become more lady-like, and cool,:realcool: but not wearing skirts. Hahas.

reina_carmen - Your dad is quite right! :-) But it great to have a sister, coz you can share clothes with her. I only got brothers, maybe that explains why I'm so "Man". :ninjasta:Whahahhaa.

jiali and-zhoujielunrocks- Yea, kinda agree that dresses are quite outdated lately. Hahas. Yea, jeans seems to be a trend these days, look more cool :realcool: Hahas

I'm a very colour conscience person. I cant have too many colours on myself. Haha, so i usually wear black and white stuffs. :D

i dont normally wear jeans. I wear dresses, skirts and shirts that suits my day. Then get the look with my necklace, earrings and a bag. Then wear my heels or my comfy sneakers.

and you guys dont wear skirts? i probably only have 2 jeans!

Hm, I dress casually too - T-shirt (usually from Hang Ten or Giordano) and pants. I'm more comfortable with casual wear. I don't dress sexily...it makes me feel so......insecure? LOLx. :P

Wow! I'm not alone! Haha...I don't wear skirts too, and I dislike wearing them. It's so wierd...hm, maybe I'm more boyish? :P I only wear them when my mum forced me to... LOLx! :D

Like most of you, I usually wear jeans with a stretched top. What ever is comfort and look good is my motto. But I heard people saying that Singaporean sometimes are too casual. We wear 3 quarter pants to watch a play and sometime even to a wedding. For me going to a wedding dinner is sort of a nightmare, not knowing what to wear. . I guess that sometime we don’t really know what to wear in the more formal events.

There's a teacher in my school who still wears bell-bottoms  His fashion style never changed i guess. It's constant throughout the many years!! :D :D

gnipuhs, yep.. jeans are more comfortable to me. I love levis jeans!! Especially the 593 one.

woah my favorite topic! :D

for me..yea jeans is the best. i used to be like...damn crazy bout skirts but then i only have 3...and the worse is i always wear one particular one..

but lately my cousin say i no taste and a bit...too 'restricted' in fashion. i only wear black and nothing else more...its totally not how a 15 year old should wear at all

so right now...i'm trying to fit into other colors like green and purple. loving jeans more and more too! :excited:

jiali haha i'm a great Levi's lover too! the new squarecut rocks! :excited:

jiali
05-30-2005, 05:47 PM
kasic_fantasy, really? I haven't had time to try on the squarecut jeans yet  but will when i do have time. The "in" colours recently seems to be pink and turquoise. Perhaps you should try those colours too. :wink2:

My closet dun really have much clothing, mostly shirt, and jeans. Like u guys, I prefer to wear jeans too. But my guy keep asking mi to wear skirt. Feel like asking him to wear it for himself one day! :D :D
Wow, u all like levis jean izzit? I can't afford levis jean. Its a bit expensive for mi! but now at bugis I see that they have a sale over there, I forget how many percent, maybe u guys can take a look?

Mostly my clothes are in dark colour too! Even my mum nag mi to get more colourful one! Got to go shop shop some of this days!

05-31-2005, 05:07 AM
jialiserious? but i'm not the type that will choose pink. lately got very interested in those Japanese designed clothings....anyone here have any good shops to recommend? :?

haha i know bugis is one good place to shop. in the junction we have many good shops and in the vaillage we can get good clothes at good price :D

moku haha sorry for not saying earlier..i dont have any levi's pants  i agree with you that its damn ex and not very teen friendly. but the designs are damn good and they have the 100 year warranty. within a 100 year if anything happens to your jeans you can repair them for free...

but argh...who the hell in sinagpore here can live till that age? :D

princhess-cherr
05-31-2005, 05:46 AM
kasic_fantasyi went to plaza singapura yesterday and there is this shop beside samuel and kelvin's ... they sell nice Japanese designed clothings but have very limited choice. Maybe you will like them .
Anyway, i always wear black and dark clothing when going out . Makes me feel more superior for no reason. By the way can anybody recommend good places that sells nice jeans and denim skirts at very affordable prices?

gnipuhs
05-31-2005, 06:27 AM
Wow, there's like so many people around don't wear skirts as I did. Hahas!!! Talking about clothing, the great singapore sale is here again! :excited: Hahas, hope everything will be cheaper. hahas. :D

By the way, just curious to know. Does anyone have pants color like Purple, Red, Green like what Jay did? Hahas, just curious to know.

charmian - Yea, me usually wear black and white too, but usually black. hahas, seems more cool. Lolx.

YuCheng - Mmm, maybe you can try wearing a skirt out. Hehe. Since girls can wear jeans, why can't guys wear skirts? Haha, kidding kidding. :-) I'm sure many girls will drool over you when you wear those shirts. :brows:

no_pride Yea, i think wearing sexily make me insercure too. hahas. My mum asked me to wear skirt too, but i don't want, coz make me feel weird.

kasic_fantasy - Hey, me had taken a liking to green clothings nowadays! Hahas. Some people will live to a 100yr age. Hahas. But levis are outing new designs jean everynow and then, so it will be outdated. Lolx.

princhess-cherr - Hellos! Maybe you can try bugis street. There's lots of skirts there. You can bargain too, maybe can save more money. Hahas.

gnipuhs
05-31-2005, 08:52 AM
Japanese style seems to be a trend for long. I knew off Japanese style quite a few years ago and it's now still popular. Talking about trends, i recall a line which is in Jay's book- "The start of a new trend is the end of another trend." Hahas. Quite accurate. :wink2:

I heard from my friends that wearing black will make a person looks slimmer while wearing white will make a person looks fatter? You guys agree? Lolx. :?

charmian - You mean your school uniform or something? What type of green? this green or this green? my sch uniform is aroundthis color for the skirt. Lolx.

charmian
05-31-2005, 09:03 AM
No No No

This Green. and yes, my school uniform. =)

and yes, colours does the trick in making you look the way you want. Dark colour hides your fats. :D

she says it looks.. dull and **Dead** can u believe it??!! :bleh:
that is why my wardrobe got so many colors tops.. :shy:

Yah, agree with you, liwen_jay, my mum often said that too. Hahas, probably due to the chinese traditions.

Mmm, besides tops, many are trying out daring colors for their pants and skirt as well i think. Those Green and Red. Hahas. But i still perfer black, coz it looks cool. Lolx.

06-01-2005, 04:48 AM
hey girls.. i need some help here..

who do you girls think of guys that wear bell-bottom pants?

it because i have 2 pairs of them and i don't know what occasion to wear them to.. wearing them and shopping at orchard road seems weird to me

liwei_jay
06-01-2005, 06:42 AM
erm... gnipuh... it's actually liwei not liwen..
anyway...
tops i dun really mind.. as long as it looks good.. :wink2:
i'm more "strict" on my pants/skirts...
usually either black or jeans or khakis..
they're de bez..
dun hav to worry about clashing of colours.. :bleh:
especially skirts... i find that jeans r de bez.. and also khaki colour.. :-)

YuCheng...
how does your bell bottom looks like..
those really veryyyy old fashion type??
actually it can look quite cool u knw.. if you match it with certain top..
can try the retro look.. it's kinda cool.. :wink2:

gnipuhs
06-01-2005, 06:42 AM
well YuCheng, as long as it's fine with you, it definitely won't look weird wearing it in orchard road, have some confident, show-off your cool pants to everyone on the street. :-) I suggest you can wear it to parties or gatherings? I hope that helps. :wink2:

opps :glug: , sorry, liwei_jay haha, i didn't see properly. Lolx. Coz i read a Jay fanfic featuring a girl by the name of liwen, so you see... Hehes :shy:

liwei_jay
06-02-2005, 02:58 AM
nah.. :realcool:
it's ok...
no problem... as long as it still sounds like my name..
and i knw u r talkin bout me then it's ok liao.. :wink2:

fallenheartz
06-04-2005, 01:46 PM
o_O It's liwei! I always thought it was liwen too.. stupid me :bang: I so blur.

Anyways, I also wear according to my mood de, but usually I'm more the conservative type. I used to always feel weird if ome parts of me is not fully covered , but now I more open le, quite a lot of new style I also try. But sometimes, when I'm not in the mood, I'll just wear whatever I see, even though I know it's totally mismatched and ugly. :prop: People usually end up staring at me whereever I go. :shy:

gCjs84
06-05-2005, 01:40 PM
fallenheartz : Most 15 year old girls I see on the streets are quite well dressed... Or maybe I have not seen you when you are not in the mood yet. I find most girls nowadays do dress quite well and their dressing really compliments how they look.

I read in the papers recently when they interviewed some fashion stylist and she commented that white sneakers are in fashion now because more celebrities are wearing them like Jay and others. However, she also added that white sneakers are too similar to school shoes and one need self confidence to carry it. What do you guys think?

fallenheartz
06-05-2005, 03:03 PM
gCjs84 ~ Hehe, maybe. Nowadays, those days are less,a nd I go out less often. =/

And, ar, white shoes.. Yes, they're quite popular. I don't fancy them much, but some do look quite good. They're too similar to school shoes, and white is not exactly my favourite color. I don't usually wear sneakers anyway. Hee. But it'll be quite obvious that it's white sneakers and not school shoes to tell at a glance. So it shouldn't be a problem with confident or not. That's what I think anyway. On the other hand, it's really very ugly to wear school shoes without school uniform, I tried it once and my sister told me I look like a freak and that she hope no one thinks she knows me. :shy: Well, but that was after school, only I was wearing home clothes for a sorta performance..

gnipuhs
06-06-2005, 05:07 AM
mmm... yah, i think sneakers are quite "In" now. many people are wearing it. i seen some on the street too, but some have personally draw something to design it, so as not to look so plan. but i don't think i have the confident of wearing sneakers out `cos it's kind of weird to me. But when others wearing it, i think it's pretty nice, but when i'm wearing it, i have a bad feeling. hahas.

liwei_jay
06-06-2005, 05:14 AM
gnipuh...
that's how i feel too.. :hi-5: *piakk*
but i learn to go on with life...
and dun care bout what ppl think...
juz wear whateva i like..
who cares if it look weird as long as i'm comfy...

gnipuhs
06-07-2005, 05:53 AM
yea, as long as you feel comfy, that's it. Why cares about others. Hahas.

Jay is coming, i wonder how's everyone going to wear? With a cap or just cacual? I don't think anyone won't wear a jacket there? LOlx. Its going to be so hot.

But its like quite a trend to wear jacket with a tube or short-sleeve shirt under it. By the way, are you guys brand-consious(spelling mistake)? Lolx. I'm very brand-consious in the past, but now not. Still abit about brands. Of course, I won't get myself a jeans from Topshop or Levis everytime, maybe after I started to earn money then i will get those branded stuff.

I usually get my clothes from Puremilk, Oxygen, Converse, Gionardo. For bottom I'm quite okay with the brand but quite expensive for those without brand too. as for shoes, it's just converse or nike or no brand ones. but i only owned one nike shoes in my life. Lolx.

jiali
06-07-2005, 03:21 PM
Oh yeah yeah, jacket with tube inside.. i've seen this on the manequins in clothes department stores. I think this is pretty cool! But i don't own any jacket currently. Always see nice jackets around, especially those from Roxy. But i don't really need one, so that explains why i don't own one.

Talking about fashion trend reminded me that recently the waistbands are very popular in Singapore.
Personally, I don’t think that it is very cool or something and I do not own any myself.
What about you guys? What do you think of it?

Jacket with a tube only look nice if you got no tummy and are not too short. Then you must have some make up on to look compatible with the clothing. Anyway that is what I think.

speaking of that wraistband...actually its meaning is more than just fashion...

Nike was the first to start it. it is for the world AIDS foundation though. they were selling in to remind people of the danger of having AIDS and also for donations to the world AIDS fund....

but then it seems like the fashion has went over its meaning :worry:

hmmmm...
yah recently saw alot of youngsters putting on wristbands too..
and multicolours some more..
and some even glow in de dark..
i really dun understand what's de obsession about...
i mean if it's like what kasic_fantasy said..
it's for charity or good cause.. then it's fine..
but now it juz became another fashion fever...

Jie_Lun_Rox

mmm, talking about those wristbands, many people are wearing them. But I find kind of weird wearing them, don't know why. And yah, Energy's new album also got those wristbands as well. Although it's for aids, but many people in my school who played basketball took it as an identity of which team they belongs to.

Jie_Lun_Rox - Jay wore it? I didn't see it before. You got the picture?Hehes.

gCjs84
06-10-2005, 07:31 AM
Ya. Wristbands are in the rage nowadays and almost everyone is wearing them. Wristbands started out as a charity thing or a symbol that you support certain actions but I think now most people just wear it for the sake of wearing. I know there is the yellow wristband in support of cancer I believe and the black and white bands is by Nike in support of anti racism. However, there are way too many imitations out there and the true purpose is lost. I think this fashion trend will die off sooner or later.

charmian
06-12-2005, 05:31 AM
the wrist band started out in america for a good purpose, for charity.

it didnt start out as a fashion icon. so i dont know why people are going gaga over it.

and every other shop sells it and not for charity purpose.

indigo
06-12-2005, 11:25 AM
I don't really follow the trends in Singapore, most of them are outdated copies from Japan anyway, and it irks me to see people following them blindly. Like the wristband thing, if you're gonna buy it, order the ORIGINAL one and contribute to charity, but using as an acessory just because it's in is stupid, it defeats the purpose of charity. I still think people should wear out their individuality.

No offense to anyone though.

liwei_jay
06-13-2005, 06:54 AM
hmmmph..
i agree...
i really dun like ppl who abuse the purpose of charity...
especially when for those small tiny little things such as wristband..
they're selling in PIG price..!!
whoa... really dunno what r de ppl thinking... *shaking head*
i knw i definately wouldn't waste such money...

kasic_fantasy
06-13-2005, 07:40 AM
if you guys were to buy the wraist bands, buy it from Nike. certain amount of the price of the wraistband will go to the National World AIDS fund.

fashion is not a wrong until people abuse the meaning of it...thats all i can say

I think the wrist band fad is freaking STUPID! Zara's giving out free red ones though with 'Madrid' on it as well as the letter 'M'. Just go in and buy something and they'll ask you if you want the band or the shirt. The shirt is ugly so I opted for the wrist band.

I mean, the wrist band started out as something meaningful, but it's been worn by so many people that it's completely lost its meaning. Before this was the plastic bracelets fad that had something to do with your sexual experiences or whatever right? That was silly too.

In short, fashion fads are silly. :-)

liwei_jay
06-13-2005, 08:54 AM

ya.silly is the word.
but for fashion i think ppl r the mastermind.
i mean if a big grp of ppl decides to dress lyk beggers n say its the new fashion.
then it will soon be de.
tt is human.
they just follow wad the crowd says.
quite saddenin.
n media too.

Yah, trends fades off easily. Today maybe many people are wearing the bands, but the next, they might be wearing something else. So I don't really enjoy following trends, instead I will just wear whatever I'm comfortable with. Why cares about others? Whahahhas.

"The start of a new trend in the end of another."- By Jay. Whahahas.

My advise is only go after the fashion trend if it suits/complement you. Else stay away from it.
I seen so many people on the street following the trend and some of them don’t even suit it. They look terrible. Never be a slave to fashion.

Snowflake : I agree with you too. I think it is good to wear what you feel comfortable and think is suitable for you. Some images are just not meant for certain people and it is pointless to imitate blindly. I also think that having your own style of dressing is also good.

Hehe. I heard someone say green is in the fashion now? Is it? Don't really see green everywhere. But personally, I always though it's quite nice. Still, I won't go with what everyone is wearing. More likely, I'll wear what everyone is NOT wearing. Lol. I'm weird.

i have one suggestion...why not we make our own clothes?

haha well we can always go to those shirt printing shops and design our own clothes. or we can also buy a plain shirt and just do some stuffs on it. haha yea its a bit time and money eating but then to have your own style...haha the sacriface is kindda worth

one thing i like to is just wear a jacket and a jeans. inside the jacket dont wear anything else except your bra and stuffs (if your a girl). roll the sleeve up to the elbow. its not that hot at all even though the jacket's material is thick...afterall i didnt wear anything else inside.

it kindda give out the sporty yet cool look if the jacket/cloak is well chosen and matches the jeans. for me i love to match a green adidas jacket with my dark blue jeans or the giodarno zip lock with a normal jeans...

liwei_jay
06-27-2005, 05:19 AM
hmmm...
Kat... if you like to spot this kinda look is cool too..
erm.. depends on what kinda jacket you wear lo..
if it's those business like one.. it would be better if you wear those tube.. short tube and then juz the jacket outside... it look so so sporty..
a real head turner.. :wink2:

if it's for those sports jacket... hmmm... sports bra looks cool too inside..

I like samual and kevin's style. :-) Well, most stores sell their stuffs same price islandwide/nationwide. And, since there's only a few stores all over singapore, everywhere all about the same lar. Unless you mean like those 'downstairs' stores kind. :winkz:

fairiedd-angel
06-27-2005, 02:35 PM
yeahs, i agree that S&K is a hip store.their way of matching clothes is funkyy. (: there are some chain stores like s&k too, like baleno , hang ten etc. but their clothes din't seem any more interesting than of sK's. but if given a choice, i would choose giordano & s&k as best chain stores in SG (:

Fox designs are good but their materials are not very good. Not really worth the $$. I bought 2 pieces of clothes after one washing, it becomes bigger. This is just my experience.

For working attires, I like Mango and GG>5. Expensive yea but they carry small sizes which I desperately need.
I like going to departmental store to just shop and look at some never heard of brands. Some of it is pretty good.

gnipuhs
06-28-2005, 09:36 AM
Fox design are quite nice too, I once saw a long-sleeve over there but didn't bought it. Kind of expensive and thick. Hahas, will be feeling too hot after wearing it, somemore it's black in color. Mickey mouse?! I think far east got that shop, that's what my friend told me, but I didn't had a chance to pop over to far east and have a look yet.

I think some clothings from topshop are nice too, and not very expensive. But the bottoms are so...So...Unaffordable for me. Whahahhas.

Haven't been to this thread for a while. Anyway, I agreed with Liwei. Excuse me, it is like so hot in Spore some of the clothes is just not suitable to wear in the street. BUT if your office/school have very cold air con then it is ok I think. Just that office have to depend on your attire culture there. But I do see some people in my office wearing some winter clothes but nothing too fanciful..

haha.. I think she meant those polo tees... hmm... that is more of casual wear... but I rarely wear polo tees... I've got this very common polo tee with white prints on the back, and the material is very flimsy and soft, and quite translucent(that's why I picked the black 1, there is white, but you can practically see through it... -_-)

well, that shop tender in heeren told me nowadays this clothing is going to be the next in thing. I don't know whether he said that to make me buy it, but I've bought it coz I like that material, it's comfortable, I'll say... ^^

and alot of times, I've heard news articles in life or something, saying S'porean women has boring fashion sense. I half agree to it, and disagree too... coz it's the Gen X people, who ALWAYs pair everything else with jeans... lol... but Gen Y people are way cooler... ^^

In Singapore, there are people from different countries who represented different styles. Due to the climate here, the most popular fashion pieces are T-shirts and shorts.

Singaporean fashion sense has been quite good. They can accept different things. That also means its not so boring here.
