haha..so many teachers here. :bleh:

Learning Indonesia is not that easy, i think. SO many regulations, even though Indonesia Language doesn't have grammar like English, but if you don't practice by talking in Indonesia, it will be very difficult. Replacing grammar, Indonesia language has something called "prefix" and "sufix". It's difficult to explain..but i'll try..

For an active predicate, we use prefix "me", example :
menulis -> me- nulis -> nulis is originally from "tulis" which means "to write" (T is usually replaced by N)
sentence : Saya menulis surat -> I write a letter

For a passive predicate, we use prefix "di", example :
dibuang -> di - buang -> "buang" means "throw"
sentence : Kertas itu dibuang oleh Yukiko -> That(itu) paper(kertas) is thrown by Yukiko

got it??

WOW!!Aina!!! U teached everyone the grammar!!! HAHAHA!!! Nicely done!!!

But then, just an additional infos, maybe many of u will still confused with what indo ppl are talking when u reallly hear us talk! Because all of us doesnt use those indo's languange like what aina's explained above. Cos all of the youngsters use indo's slang languange!!And the slang sometimes sounds totally different with the actual languange!!Hahahhaa!!!!

yukiko
05-23-2005, 05:12 PM
about the slang language... i'll try to give some example.
from aina's sentences :
i write a letter. which in formal mean *saya menulis surat* but we usually just say : "Gue nulis surat"
I : you can use SAYA, AkU, GUE, GUA, etc
YOU : ELU, Lu, kamu, etc
we : kita kita, kami, gue orang, etc...

aina : why should i throw the paper? Lolz.. :p

yingyi
05-24-2005, 03:28 PM

feiYnk
05-31-2005, 06:33 AM
Yea...yea...I think Jakarta people use lots of slang words, and other states' Indonesian sounds more like malays....
Like my cousins, they born in Kalimantan, Borneo. They went to Jakarta for high school, and most of the friens in highschool laugh at my cousins cos they think my cousins Indonesian sounds weird!! Huahaha..

yukiko
05-31-2005, 08:48 AM
yeah... some of states like sumatra and kalimantan's languages like malay. bahasa. :p
the lesson for now is the most famoust word for jakarta. "DONK"
and "SO WHAT GITHU LOH" is in trend rite now. :p
anyone can explain it?? i have no idea how to explain.. so need yours help.
yingyi : really? mmm don't know. i think some of medanese also use that. i think so. but not so sure

yingyi
05-31-2005, 06:53 PM
oh my god yukiko do u really have to bold and caps 'so what gitu loh'??? that phrase is so annoying, but im getting used to it.. have u heard a rap song called 'so what gitu loh?' its pretty much heard on radio...
oh really? hmm maybe chinese ppl use that phrase 'kita orang' more often

P.e.A.n.u.T
06-01-2005, 12:55 PM
hahha...the actual words for "so what gitu loh" is "emang kenapa" is it???

yingyi
06-02-2005, 08:18 AM
maybe... 'emang kenapa' is sometimes annoying too... it sounds very 'nyolot'... ehehe
what's 'nyolot' in english?

yukiko
06-06-2005, 10:55 AM
i already heard it. it's saykoji's song. and i have listen some of their songs from their album. not really bad. =p or it's maybe me like hip hop. but worth to listen lah. =p sorry kinda out of topic. =p

venetta
06-29-2005, 06:28 AM
o ya anyone knows what 'dong, geh, lah, sih, deh, etc' is really for? lots of my frens ask me what they are and how to use it...but i just cant explain it.

feiYnk
06-30-2005, 07:42 AM
Good questions which i cannot answer!!Ahhahahaa!! Let me think :hmm:
sih: Is for asking question, rite?? We use it to end our questions. Like: Apa sih? Kenapa sih? But, if we use 'sih' ,it sounds like we're kepo, rite??

And the others...i really dunno how to explain....

venetta
07-01-2005, 07:26 AM
eh...quite true...when u say 'sih' sounds very kepo hahahaha..neva realize that.

anyway issit true datwe indons speak very fast? almost all my malays fren cannot catch the language and they also said we have some kinda tune when we talk...

yukiko
07-01-2005, 11:43 AM
maybe not all indonesian speak that fast. but yes i do speak fast. =P
dong seh lah.... maybe it's just our style to end a sentence,

yingyi
07-01-2005, 02:31 PM
depends, if im with my good friends and talking bout something really fun, i sometimes lose control and talk very fast!!!
dong seh lah loh are kinda hard to explain... they have no specific meanings but they're pretty important in everyday conversations...
your malay friends dont understand maybe becos some vocabs are different.. i also cant understand few malay words

feiYnk
07-05-2005, 08:05 AM
Hmm...i do think we spaeak fast. I mean if we talk to other indonesian, we dun realize that! But, if we hear other ppl, like malaysians, they speak slower than us rite???

Btw, i've been in beijing wid my friends, and we were in shopping mall, talking, while the others are shopping/buying things, and the shopkeeper thought that we are japanese, cos she said we talked so fast like japanese!!!Haha!

yukiko
07-06-2005, 03:10 PM
Really mah? or it just me dont realise it. But yeah.. japanese do speak so fast. i even can't get any of their convos.

11. Chinese & other foreign characters not allowed without translation
DO NOT post in Chinese without an accompanying translation,
NEVER EVER post topic titles in Chinese!!! Again this is an English forum.
Most people here cannot read Chinese. Besides if they could, why would they be here?
All the big Jay forums are in Chinese.YES ! and we mean the other languages too, not only chinese. Because this is an international English forum, not everyone may understand your language.

@neverever : i love you in indonesia is "aku cinta kamu" we dont use akan. most of the word in indonesian and malaysia is similar. but there's so many difference for a sentence. ^^

My dear Pammie, yup. it's Indonesian.

rahasia donk. enak aja lo mo tau. emang lu sapa, pemimpin negara? sok lu. gw g

rahasia donk = It's a secret.
Enak aja loe mo tau (it's kinda a slank sentence) = why do you want to know? (not in friendly way) sorry i dont know how to translate it into good english
emang lu sapa? = who the hell do you think you are?
pemimpin negara? = are you a president?

Actually, The Indonesian language is based from MELAYU.
And the Malaysian people speaks that MELAYU language
Most of the words are just the same.
