a lot of superstars in the music biz like wang li hong (lee hom) and li wen (coco lee) have their mothers accompanying them around places and on tours. 'asia's superstar' zhou jie lun's mother, will be retiring in february next year and bid farewell to 33 years of her teaching career. from then on she will accompany her son around the globe, looking after him!
zhou jie lun gets on stage at the hk coloseum for the second time, and jie lun's mother, who is currently still an art teacher at high school, flew to hong kong on the weekend to see his son's performance, and recording it with a dv as she watched.
son was singing on stage, mother sitting down watching and recording it, and would get a bit 'jealous', 'look, my son would look at the 10,000 or so fans but would never look at me. he knows where i'm sitting, but just wouldn't dare to look this way. he's always been like this since he was little. the people whom he's closer to, the more shy he is, hiding away his feelings!' during the concert, there was a segment which showed images of the young 4-year old jie lun playing the piano. this brought back a lot of memories to zhou ma ma. 'when he was a child he was very playful, always thought up stories at home and then acted it out for me to watch. at that time, when i took him to practise the piano, the teachers at shan ye thought he was gifted, but with the other subjects at school he was ok!'. ever thought before that jie lun would become such a popular chinese artist in the world, zhou ma ma smiled and said, 'i'm a teacher and i didn't even recognise he has such potential. i've always thought jie lun would probably just end up being a piano teacher!'
this 4-year old zhou jie lun 'documentary', was actually recorded unintentionally by zhou ma ma. asked if she has other films of jie lun when he was a kid or as a teenager, she said 'unfortunately, after I'd separated with his father, we'd lost some of it when we were dividing our things.' she thought again and then said 'there's one left that hasn't been shown publicly. it's a cassette tape that recorded him talking when he was little which was very funny. he talked in the taiwanese dialect, with which we had to slowly correct his pronunciations so that he sounded a bit better!'
there's only a few months left till retirement, zhou ma ma said, 'recently jie lun has become very sensible and mature, he worried that i don't know how to plan my life after retirement, so he'd moved back to lin kou jia to live with me. sometimes he would ask me to go watch movies (at mid-night) with him. but the movies that he watches are very trendy and contemporary, not quite my cup of tea!' when jie lun takes his mother out to dinner along with his young friends, he serves food for his mother, and would then tell his friends, 'you also have to serve food for my mother ahh, children have to be polite to teachers ohh!' when talking about her son, in the dignified and strict expressions showed the smiles of a caring mother.
asked if she opposes her son being involved in a relationship, she said, 'no, i only told him not to 'muddle' (play around) with love! in the past when he was at school every girl that he'd dated he had brought back home to show me!' jie lun then interfered and said 'a good man would always bring his girlfriends home to show his mum!' then did jie lun bring cai yi lin home to show his mum? 'no!' zhou ma ma said, about a magazine report earlier this year regarding jie lun and cai yi lin (with pictures of them in his car together), she had asked him about it. 'jie lun told me, that night he was with cai yi lin working on a song, and drove her home afterwards. after that i'd never asked him about it.' zhou ma ma then gave his son some advice, 'dating someone from the entertainment biz, the pressure seems to be bigger. so you have to be more careful with your own c
