Dir en Grey

Waii... I'm amazed there hasn't been a thread about Dir en Grey yet o_0 Anyhow, I love their music. At some points, they can have a more mellow type of sound, like in Taiyou no Ao, but at other times their music is more like rock, as in Hades.
What's your perspective on them? Love them? Hate them?

Dir En Grey is a bit too hardcore for the I-Love-Pop fangirls of this forum ^_~

My fave DEG song is Fukai, by FAR. I love that song... very catchy, very strong vocals.

scarletwillow's right, you'll be hard pressed to find fans of Dir en Grey in this forum. I am a DEG fan though. Have liked them ever since hearing their album, Macabre. I fall somewhere in the pop-oriented fangirl category, so I'm not a huge fan of their heavier music, but I really like songs like Cage, RED ...[em], embryo and wake/riyuu. In the j-rock thread, one of the members mentioned how DEG draws a lot of their music style from older bands such as Luna Sea. Somehow, Dir en Grey stands out to me from all the other VK bands. Maybe because they're commercialized now, I don't know.

MY FAVORITE MEMBER IS DIE OMG. He's great. And I quite like Kaoru because he's such a paradox. Leader of a very VK-oriented band who is capable of scaring even Kyo and yet an avid Morning Musume fan. Does it get any WEIRDER than that? XDDD~

And what happened to Toshiya? All their recent photoshoots, he looks so ... dead. O.o;;

even though DEG is a bit hard core their music is still good!!!!.....
but i like Toyisha the best...so pretty boy hehehe....and he plays the bass really goood tooo!!!^-^ i mean omg.....the bass is really hard to play......>.< i dont intend to try tho..trying to play the guitar was hard enough for my poor fingers.

i love dir en grey! in the beginning, i didn't really like their sound but then i heard [erode] and i got really interested. so i learned to love them. i really like the songs composed by Toshiya ..like [erode] and [raison d'etre]. my favorite song is [akuro no oka] though. I like all the band members cuz they're all extremely talented and they all have a unique personality. Toshiya is so hot though. haha.

dir en grey are pretty kool...i'ma into a lot of jrock now.....my first DeG song was [cage]....and i fell in love wif it......probably because of the kool bas solo in da middle....i can't even hold down da stupid bass string.....to thik!!!....and i like [garden]...nice song!...haven't seen any of their MV's yet....but i've heard from lots of people that they're pretty weird and scary oO.....lol....my fave member is die......i love da mask that he wears and his red hair!!...ahhh!!!......and kyo's make up is DA BOMB!!!!.....hahahahaha

Hardcore Loving Deg fan here. From the hot looks of toshiya and his Phat bass lines to the double team work of duelling guitars of kaoru and die. To shinya loving puppy drum machine that he is and the moving and sometimes disturbing lyrics of kyo. The live performances would take anyones breath away they put every ounce of effort into their performance. With every member looking like a male model there isnt another jrock band comes close for every member looking amazingly HOT well to me and my gf anyway lol.

I admire them for their talents... but I don't like the fact that Kyo cuts himself on stage... he says that he mind as well do it in front of everyone since he already cuts himself... but I think that's a bad influence because his fans might think it's cool and cut themselves too. Overall, they're great.. I love kyo's voice and the other band members talent to create music. I guess I like Die the best... he has a really cool sense of humor and he has nice eyes and a awesome cute smile. Shinya creeps me out and kaoru and toshiya are pretty hot too. I guess I like Shinya sometimes... he's so mysterious. LOL but he looks so much like a GIRL.

I'm not surprised there aren't that many DEG fans here, they are really heavy. Plus they're kinda crazy. But I still think they're good and have so many albums that are really good. I think that cutting stuff might be a bit out of control which is probably why they also don't have a big fangirl following.

LS weren't as crazy on stage, with the exception of Sugizo, who makes porn with his guitar on stage -- hence the name the "Walking Porn" that his fans so lovingly call him. (He is so...SO graphic with that guitar... _O_ It's.............like, NC-17.)

DEG wouldn't even exist without LUNA SEA. XD; That's a fact. LS were so amazing, man.

although its a pretty odd combonation, i really like dir en grey and other bands like them. i went through a pretty radical VK stage but i'm mellowing out again ^^

okay for those Dir en Grey fans in the US, i got good news!

"J-rock group Dir en grey have been around for a decade but are now enjoying what could be their greatest test yet as they tour the U.S. with American groups Korn and Deftones. They weren't sure how the U.S. fans would react to their songs, especially as they remained in Japanese. They left their usual visual rock gear at home though.

They have played there already playing sold out gigs earlier this year. Thats when they came to the attention of the Korn frontman Jonathan Davis who invited them to support Korn on their tour this year. Dir en grey have also played in Germany this summer." source japan times online

Ya so I would have seen Dir En Grey live in USA but..at my concert the theatre was out doors and well there was a hurricane...but I did get to meet two of the members, I got to shake Die's hand...*dies* lol no pun intended

*Raise hand* I'm a Diru fan!! :D Yeah...they were in the U.S. but they only performed in states too far away from mine! :dry: my favorite song is: Ain't Afraid to Die. I love that song because I like the guitar solos by Kaoru and Die! It sound awesome!! I still play that song even if its an older Dir en Grey song. I understand why some ppl might not like they're image but I don't really care how they look...Kyo is an awesome performer...and the band come up with some awesome songs!! I like them for that...I think they have they're own style as well.
