Clubbox Explained
Clubbox is a free service which allow users to upload and download files off their server. The Server however is in Korean which makes it difficult for non-korean speaking users to understand which is one of the reasons why we no longer are using it. It is still however a great resource for downloading files.

Clubbox has a bit of a complicated system. Users can sign up for free and you start as a Silver status clubbox. As a silver status clubbox the owner is given 100gb of free space, with no limit on filesizes. However the file will be deleted in 10 days if it is not downloaded 10 times or more, after which point the counter is reset and the file must be downloaded 10 times again in order to stay on the clubbox.

Clubbox then has a point system, which is determined basically by the amount of activity on the clubbox by both the uploader/uploaders and those who download from it. There is a monthly check for the clubbox's activity. If activity is too low, the clubbox will be downgraded to a Bronze clubbox. Average activity will leave the clubbox at Silver status. However if there is an extremely large amount of activity it will be upgraded to a gold status. Here is a breakdown of the status and what they get

Status :: GB of space :: File Expiration :: Uploading Capability
[Gold] :: 200GB :: Unlimited :: Yes
[Silver] :: 100GB :: 10 Days unless downloaded 10 times :: Yes
:: 100GB :: 10 Days unless downloaded 10 times :: No

As for finding clubbox files to download, you just need to surf around (your best bet is other forums like Solid07 which are mostly Korean Music oriented) and find the links there. You do not need an account to download and the speeds are relatively decent, depending on what time of day you are downloading. The fastest I have ever seen it download is 65KB/sec.

How to Download with Clubbox

Downloading from Clubbox works ONLY in INTERNET EXPLORER. I have confirmed that FireFox and Opera do NOT work and assume other internet browsers will not work either.

Download the Clubbox downloading program here (http://www.clubbox.co.kr/neo.fld/ClubboxSetup.exe) and install it.

Go to the clubbox page you wish to download from. It should take you to a page that looks similar to this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep01.jpg

(1) Check off the boxes which correspond to the item you want to download.
(2) Click the light blue "download" button (black text was inserted by me to help you find it)
<Note: the "quick download" button is for people with accounts that have bought quick download priveledges>
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep02.jpg

A new window will open up. If it looks like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep03a.jpg
Then you have a problem (Please refer to the FAQ below)

If it looks like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep05.jpg
Then you are good to go. Just click the button in red to confirm.

Now if you installed the program from step 1 correctly, this window should dissappear on its own very quickly, (at most 5 seconds) if it stays there, you need to activate Active-X. Just click on that "Active-X Control" bar that appears and then just click on "install" and then you will get that "Yes and No" pop-up, just click on "YES". Then download what exe file from the next pop up window. (Please check the FAQ below if this does not help)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep06a.jpg

At this point the Clubbox Downloading Program will pop up. It should look like this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep06.jpg
The first time a window will pop up asking you where you want your downloads to be stored. You can change this in the future by click on the "Option" tab and changing the "Down folder."

The Downloads will always start as "waiting." Just simply click start download on the first one and it will begin. I would recommend downloading only one at a time. The following Downloads will begin as soon as the last one is finished.

Most of the interface is in english now, so hopefully it will be easier to figure out.

[B]FAQ

Q: I am getting this screen even after I downloaded the program and I dont know what to do.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep03a.jpg
A: Ok apparently in the past clubbox had lots of problems of incomplete or corrupted installations. So even if you think you installed the program correctly, it may not have done so. I believe recently the problem has been addressed and it isn't happening as much as before, but it still might occur. This is what you need to do. Find your clubbox folder and Delete "clubbox.exe" If you are not sure where it is, you can always go Start>Search and look for it that way. Then click that button with the down arrow and the computer to try re-installing. If that doesnt work you can try re-intalling it from the link here (http://www.clubbox.co.kr/neo.fld/ClubboxSetup.exe).

If this does not change anything or you are sure that it is installed properly, try pressing F5 a few times to refresh the window. It should work after a few tries. Ctrl+N also works (the shortkey for "Open in a new window" this works usually as well. Once the DL starts you can just close all windows.

Q: When a new window is suppose to pop-up, nothing happens?
A: It is very possible that you have a pop-up blocker which is preventing Clubbox from opening a new window. If it is the Pop-up blocker that is integrated into Internet Explore, you can click the little bar that appears under the URL Address bar on top of ur window to change ur settings or go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy and uncheck Pop-up blcoker. If your pop-up blocker is from a different program, go into that program's setting and either disable it or change their settings.

Q: I keep getting this window when I try to download, but I already enabled Active-X
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/clubboxstep06a.jpg
A: This is one of the most infamous problems with Clubbox. Truthfully, I have not found a solid solution for it, as it is technically a random glitch I guess that comes up from time to time. Refresh the window by pressing the F5 button (the hotkey for Refesh) a few times. It should work after that. Ctrl+N also works (the shortkey for "Open in a new window" this works usually as well. Once the DL starts you can just close all windows.

Another trick you can do is right clicking on the white space (or anywhere there is nothing) and going to encoding > Korean. THis may solve your problem as well. <Thanks to Jessica for this tip ^^>

Q: I started a download, but its still at 0KB/sec. Why is it not starting?
A: Usually, especially during the busy times, it takes 1-2 minutes (literally) to get the download to begin. If it doesnt start after a few minutes, close clubbox and try again.

Q: What is the Mileage thing?
A: Clubbox basically counts how long u have been using the program. For every hour u have the program running, you get 10 mileage points. After you acculumlate enough points, you can get coupons to get the "quick downloads." I think 1000 mileage points will get you a 2gb quick download which means you can download up to 2gigs at high speeds and you have 5 days I believe to use it up in. You can only accumulate points if you are a registered user and are logged in.

Q: Do we have to sign up for an account or do we need a pin number?
A: No you don't. Before you needed a Pin number in order to download, however that has been apparently phases out. We however would like you to sign in when you with once of the set up accounts so that we can get traffic from signed in members. It takes 2 seconds literally, so please help us out so we can keep bringing you great albums and videos ^^

Q: My download just randomly stopped half way. What should I do?
A: Try pausing and then restarting the download. This is very rare. Just be patient, sometime clubbox can be a bit slow.

Q: Can we resume our downloads?
A: Yes you can, just make sure you use the same link as before and that the folder you are downloading it to has not changed. The file should resume from the last point where you left off.

Q: How do I collect the mileage points that I have accumulated in my clubbox account?
A: See wackycashew's post with detailed explanations here (http://www.jay-chou.net/forums/showpost.php?p=553901&postcount=102).

Hmm, im not sure, did u try starting it again? If that doesnt work, u can also try right clicking the file and select "Download File" Make sure ur not doing "Quick Download" as well, that requires membership and that costs money =/

Also remember its best only to download one at a time. Its most effiecent that way.

I think you're only allowed to download one file at time, right? Even if you click more, they'll all be just pending on the downloads list. And yes, don't forget to right-click on the file to select "Download File" to get it started. Be patient if it doesn't start right away since loading time can vary.

Thanks for adding the mileage explanation, Alby. =)

Thanx Alby for all this explanation! :-)

when i first downloaded clubbox, i followed all of the instructions, but after i chose the file and clicked the download button, nothing would happen, the clubbox download window wouldn't pop up no matter what i did.
then i found out that for XP users sometimes you have to click CTRL+N on the download window and then it starts working.

well, that's in case anyone runs across the same problem.

For Yahoo, speeds for downloading were relatively slow. What kinda speed are you guys seeing (avg, best) and I assume everything is free. Does signing up for one require a KSSN (like many Korean sites do)? Thanks for testing out new ways of filesharing

It wouldnt be logical to use a site that requires people to sign up with a kssn now is it? Besides, if u look at the instructions, u dont need to sign up for anything.

And Ive been seen it go as fast as 50kb/sec, although I would say average is around 20-25ish. Just like any other server it depends on how busy it is.

It is possible to get Active-X working on FF. Though I don't know if it will apply for this. This site (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_Media_Player) tells you about getting it to work. I've gotten it to play WMP stuff. But I don't know how much of it will apply for this. I will try to test it out with FF if anyone is interested.

Ok, I see now. Thanks!

EDIT: Is it ok if I upload stuff?

Thanks for this guide to Clubbox JianDan[Ai]!!
I've been using Clubbox for downloading before, but your guide is so much more detailed! Some things I notice about Clubbox is that everything you enqueue for download, you should hope that you want it to finish by the end of your session. What I mean is that if you restart your computer while a file is halfway through downloading, Clubbox will wipe the files from the list and you will have to enqueue the downloads again.
Another thing, when you click the pink triangle button on the Clubbox interface it starts your download, right? Well if you want to enqueue another file for download, you need to do that before you click the pink triangle button or put your downloads on pause.
These are just a few things I've noticed I'm not sure if they're really the case because I've tried avoiding these issues from happening to me again.

Im sorry.. but Im kind of confused here. Im at Step 6, I believe. And you state that there should be an Active X control that pops up, if that window doesn't disappear. I don't see that Active X control.

EDIT: Nevermind I solved my problem.

JianDan[Ai]
04-23-2005, 04:06 AM
Alright, I apologize I cant get a screenshot of that, since I already have it all set up on my computer, however it is a yellowish/whitish bar will appear on top of the window. (the same bar that blocks pop ups or downloads sometimes)

If you don't see this, that probably means that Clubbox is being funky like it likes to be sometimes and u should try 2 things. Firsh press F5 (the hotkey for Refresh) a couple times and if it works, that window will eventually dissappear, and you will being the download (this has worked for many people)

If that doesnt work, I would try uninstalling the program, and try installing again.

I hope that helps ^^ post back in here if the problem continues ^^;;

i need help... i can't seem to install it the program ><

Care to explain the problem? Just download the .exe file from the link and either save it onto ur computer and run it from there or just open it on the spot.

Then when u install, I know its in korean, click the only button on the first screen, and then just check the checkbox to confirm u agree with the terms and then click the button on the left of the 2 buttons. Then it will install. Click that same button again to finish and close the window. Its very simple, the exact same as any other program -_-

And yes, don't forget to right-click on the file to select "Download File" to get it started.

Haha, it 'only' took me five minutes to figure this out :shifty:

Oh, little question, those IDs and passwords are different for the days of the week, but in some countries, it's still Friday (here, it's now Saturday)...do we have to use the day we live in at that moment, or do we have to use like USA time?

That doesnt really matter. Truth is you can use any ID at any time. The only reason for making so many is this way we can "increase the traffic" to the clubbox. If we can get enough traffic, we will eventuall be able to be upgraded to a gold status which means we get infinite space and the files are permanent. I would probably have gotten enough mileage points to start giving out Quick Download coupons. But for the time being, it is too much of a hassle to ask everyone to make their own accounts to download since the site is in korean, so I made a few for you guys to use. ^^

Hmm, thats confusing then. Did u wait like maybe 10 seconds to see if it dissappeared? Sometimes it does take a while.

You can also try the F5 trick. (F5 is the shortcut for refresh) Refresh it a few times and it will probably work ^^

Step 3
Ok, before you download, please log in so that our clubbox can accumlate points towards getting gold membership.

Please sign in with the account corresponding to the day of the week
On Monday, please sign in as jcnet01
On Tuesday, please sign in as jcnet02
On Wednesday, please sign in as jcnet03
On Thrusday, please sign in as jcnet04
On Friday, please sign in as jcnet05
On Saturday, please sign in as jcnet06
On Sunday, please sign in as jcnet07

PW for all accounts: jaychou

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v89/jiandanai/signinclubbox.jpg

<I will change these accounts from time to time, so check back here>

The reason for multiple accounts is so that we can have logged traffic from many users. If you have your own account, go ahead and use it by all means. Once we get upgraded to Gold membership, you won't have to do this anymore.

you have to take into account the global time differences.it might not be that accurate to have 7 accounts. Why not standardize to become one? :wink2:

JianDan[Ai]
04-24-2005, 01:20 PM
As i mentioned before, it really doesnt matter. The only point is to make it seem like we have lots of ppl downloading from us. What account use really doesnt matter, but it doesnt help as much if everyone downloads of jcnet01 if u know what I mean. =/

As I have told everyone else, Try refreshing. Press F5 (the hotkey for refresh) a few times on that page and it should eventually work.

-edit-
Ok i have updated the FAQ on this issue, and it should be quite clear now what to do as I have mentioned to do the refresh trick several times now. If anyone asks me about this without obviously having tried refreshing a few times after this point will not be on my good side (which means ur probably losing rep and not having ur question answered..which shouldnt matter since the answers are ALL here)
So Don't be lazy and look around.

well but ill just try again and several times meanwhile..thanks
just another question, it seems not to be possible to download files from different pages simultaneously..is that right? (ie theresa file on page one..i check it, then i go to page 2 and check another file..then i press the download button, and on the list it will only appear the last one i checked).

Yea, its possible that u already have it enabled. I really have no clue then. If you tried refreshing or opening in a new window a few times and it still doesnt work, then i really have no idea what the problem could be =/

-edit-

Told u, just gotta keep trying. And to your second question, yes you can. Just repeat the steps on the new page. Your files will all be quered up to download.

no problem guys... glad i can lend a hand

i have a question about posting these clubbox links in other forums. does the rule "signing in before dling" still apply (i saw someone posted the links at soompi already, but didn't include the rules)? and how do you want me to credit?

wackycashew
04-27-2005, 05:43 AM
yes, the "signing in before dlling" rule would still apply. if people have their own clubbox accounts, they'd likely sign in anyway because they can earn mileage. but i think for now, only signed in users who download can help us earn points.

as for crediting, i guess that'd depend on what files you're sharing. credit Jay-Chou.net and the uploader as well as other sites that we got files from. these "other sites" vary though. so, maybe you can PM me or alby to ask the credits for certain files you'll be posting. thanks so much for helping out, jess. we really appreciate it. :hugz: and thanks for the tip. so far CTRL+N has been working for me. glad to know other tricks. ^0^

hmmmm You clicked the "start download" button right? Cuz it starts paused (don't ask me why, IU think its dumb, but that's how it is =/ ) Anyways, besides that, Im not sure what it could be -_-;;;

If you are on a college server (ie you live in dorms, I know you are not, but in case others are) I know some dorms block some ports, and while there is no way to change what port Clubbox uses, it is possible ur school server is blocking you.

Users with 56K may experience extremely slow speeds, sometimes 2KB/sec or less. I know that with my cable connection I get on average 20 with highs of 60 and my brother with DSL always gets about 50. So I don't know if its possible that they are getting less than 1KB per second so clubbox maybe rounding it down but you really are downloading and its just...really really slow? >< This is a even greater possibility if you are uploading or downloading from other sites/programs. I dunno but its possible.

As far as what to try, I would just say try closing and opening clubbox. This may require you to rs your computer. I would say that or just try at another time when the server is not as busy (which from my own experience is usually early morning Pacific time, from about maybe 7,8am till noonish, it is fastest)

Hope that helps >< If not you can always PM me a link and ill dl it and up it to ysi for you.

Many of my friends suffer from ClubBox problems (thankfully I'm not one of them). The below is what one of them said:

Hmm, I'm having problems too. I have firefox installed as a browser. I recently made Internet explorer my default web navigator. I install everything as instructed. I also log in as daifan1. I pick something to download. Then I arrive at that install clubbox.exe pop up window as well. However, it remains there for a split second then closes. It then goes to the clubbox download manager, but a second later it closes by itself and the whole clubbox program [as seen from the disappearing status tray icon] crashes and closes. I tried everything suggested by nevets, like restarting, refreshing and what not. Can someone please help me? Also I turned off stuff like pop up blocker and enabled active x. I also didn't see that agreement window at all, even after erasing my cookies, and internet temp files. Someone please help Thank you.

I've suggessted many things to them : make sure ActiveX is enabled/allowed, clear temp internet folder, restart, refresh, allow popups, and the likes. well since clubbox is not officially supported anymore, i just have one little request

can somebody make a list of available clubbox sites to download? I know wackycashew and JianDan[Ai] had clubbox, but who else?

even though we're not supporting it anymore it would be a shame if all those uploaded files went to waste...

this is actually a question about uploading onto clubbox, and i was reluctant to start a new topic on it. Lately when I try to upload I haven't been able to because it keeps asking me to dl an Active X control or plug in called MultiUpload.cab from Newcom, Inc, which hasn't happened before, so I wanted to know what it is and what it's for and whether it's ok to dl it, since i'm paranoid about things like that ^_^"

ftlouiea
05-29-2005, 12:26 AM
Spork,

it's fine to download that. It takes a few seconds, and is the facility that allows Uploading. And even if you have installed Active X control before, like me, it's okay to install again. Hope that helps!

wackycashew
05-29-2005, 05:51 AM
yup, it's a new way of uploading that clubbox has implemented. you just have to install the ActiveX and you can see that the window for uploading has changed a bit. but just select the folder you want to upload to from the dropdown menu and click on the + button on the right to select the file for upload. the far button on the right is to remove the file from the upload list. and you can now upload more than 10 files at a time. :D the downside with this new method is that i can't seem to upload files directly from my CDs, which is a major pain considering my large files are all stored on CDs.

Does Clubbox have some download limits on the files or something? I'm not sure, but I read on this one site about something like that...I'm afraid I might not be able to finish my downloads....

Also, how do you resume? i think clubbox is supposed to automatically do it, but my files always start downloading a new file instead of resuming...Thank you!

JianDan[Ai]
06-02-2005, 09:38 AM
Clubbox cant resume files, so if you dont finish the download, u hafta start over =/ and im not sure what you mean by "download limits" as in speeds or amount u can download, but there isnt a limit on either (although I have not seen it go any faster than 55-60kb/s )

kottonkandee
06-05-2005, 02:30 AM
Thanks for the reply. My friend said it resumes automatically, but i guess it doesn't. I'll kept that in mind. Thanks. =)

I asked about the limits because this site said this:
"The files in my box will be there for only 10 days with unlimited download.
If there's 10 download for each file then it'll reset itself,
meaning it'll be on there for another 10 days."

I'm confused about the resetting files and how they're only on the site for 10 days?

JianDan[Ai]
06-05-2005, 02:35 AM
Oh ok, basically for clubboxes of silver status, the files only stay on the server (think of it like YSI keeps ur files only for 7 days) However, they will "reset" your file if it has been downloaded 10 times. This means that if your file has been downloaded 10 times, the file wont be deleted, however instead the counter is set back to 0 and has 10 more days in which time it must be downloaded 10 times again or else it is deleted.

With gold status clubboxes however files stay forever and this is not a problem.

actually clubbox CAN resume files. you just have to make sure that you download from the same place you got the link from and save it to the EXACT same folder that you had started the download with. i've had to do it before when i couldn't finish up a download and had to turn my comp. off. i resumed it the next day. so, it's "automatic" in that sense because it picks up the download where you left over since the downloaded data is still stored in the folder you had chosen when you first started the download. :-)

resumes work for uploads as well. ^0^

you're welcome, alby. maybe it was something fairly recent then. i recall someone at another forum asking about this before and someone said it was doable. but i never tried until several days ago when i was forced off my comp. so yeah, i think it resumes for uploads and downloads now. still sucky that i can't upload directly from my CDs anymore. =0

for those who are curious about this... if you get downgraded from silver to bronze after the monthly inspection because you don't have 100 points, it's still ok. you can get back up to silver by clicking on the large button just right underneath your avatar and storage stats area, and above the folders of files. it's pretty obvious. you'll see it in a bright colour with text over it and somewhere you can click on (arrow with a button, i think). if you mouse over it, you can see something like "request upgrade" at the bottom of your internet browser as the description. click and you'll be bumped back up to silver. i'm not sure if this works all the time. it's worked for me. i don't know if they factor in the amount of traffic at your clubbox to consider to let you upgrade or not, or whether there's a limit on how many times you'll get upgraded.

question! i think there's a new downloading policty at clubbox now. for example, when i clicked the link to lisa's clubbox in her sig, i got a a blue page with lots of korean writing. it said something about upgrade? it looks like there are only certain hours of operation now where clubbox will work without paying or something. what's going on?

i have been using clubbox to download lots of files and it has worked everytime.
yesterday i pressed start but it still didn't start so i closed it. today i tried again and left it there while i went out, thinking that it would be done when i come back. but after about 4 hours, it still hasn't started! so i closed it again and restarted it twice but it still doesn't work. usually if this happens i just need to restart it once and it would work. what should i do now?

Sometimes the server is busy, so you have to wait a while for the download to start. It could take anywhere from minutes to 2 hours (Yes, personal experience), so if you just leave the computer on, it'll eventually start.

I haven't personally had to wait 24 hours, but have it opened in the background. Make sure you're signed in, and leave it. Then, if re-installing the Clubbox Manager doesn't work... But that should work. CB is usually non-problematic.

Truthfully, I don't know >< All i can recommend are the few tricks that there are, Ctrl+n, F5, and encoding>korean. If those 3 don't work, and your doing everything else right, then im really confused and have no idea what is wrong. >< All i can offer is that you send me the link of the clubbox and let me know which file, and if its not too big i can upload it to ysi for you.

Gracecherry, have you installed and used CB to download before? Well, the other day, I was having same problems as you, where it tells me to install Active X when the toolbar pops up, which it didn't. Tried loads of times reinstalling CB but bleh. I tried restarting the computer, and starting the download for another file instead. It worked. Maybe try that?

Smonkkey
08-08-2005, 05:17 AM
I kinda found out this trick a long time ago.. XD so i thought i'd share it. For me, clubbox has worked 100% of the time.

So you check off all the files that you want to download, and instead of clicking the download button, you click the url button. So it brings up a pop-up and it has a url for the files you want to download. You copy that url and then paste it in the address bar of a regular browser window. So you paste it in and push enter. It looks like the normal pop up that usually comes up when you download but now its in the main browser. You click the download button and wait for the "active x" screen to show up. If nothing happens instead of pushing refresh you click in the address bar and click enter. After that it should work.

At first i thought it wouldn't work at all since i thought it would be the same as refreshing, but one day i just decided to do it, and it worked... hopefully it works for you too T___T

i mean do that, when you're at this window and the download doesn't start.

My DLs are taking a long time to start, however its been working great for the past few days. I was wondering though if anyone knew if there's a place that can step me through registering because I'm wondering if you register that it'll save what you have set to download and keeps track of how much you've downloaded. i know that clubbox underwent maintenance recently. now i have to turn off my firewall to upload/download files. the speed is slower than usual and downloads take a long time to start, but they do start eventually. other than that, things seem to be back to normal.

for those having problems, i haven't encountered those before. if you see the screen that dana capped above, then wait till it finishes loading before pressing CTRL+N or F5. or if it doesn't work the first time, then close all the windows and try again. the only thing that you'd be installing is if ActiveXControl pops up or if you're just setting up clubbox for the first time, there will be a window that pops up to install the files when you set up.

if you get an account, then you can sign in and earn mileage points, which can allow you to have faster downloads for a certain amount of gigs, depending on how many points you have. you can resume downloads or uploads. it doesn't keep track of how much you've downloaded in terms of megs or gigs. it just keeps track of the mileage points you have accumulated through leaving your clubbox window open. i don't know what it's like to not have an account and download since i've always had an account.

Search as in looking a clubbox or looking within a clubbox?

Either way, for the first you cant search for a clubbox through any particular function within clubbox. You must find the link to a clubbox either from a forum or link somewhere. When searching within a clubbox, it kinda depends on how clearly the person has set up their clubbox. There is a search bar to search within a single clubbox, but being as i havent used it in a long time I dont remember how to use it, and i remember it being pretty complicated since there are 2 drop down menu's that you hafta select before you can search. I think if the clubbox is well organized, you wont hafta search anyways and it will be pretty easy to look for anyways.

I haven't tried but Netscape might work. I just know that the advanced security features in firefox cause problems with clubbox. Netscape should work, so give it a try and let us know how it turns out ^^

The hotkeys for things I've mentioned in this FAQ will problaby be different for netscape. So F5 won't work, etc. So you need to find the equivalent in Netscape. Here is what to look for:

F5 = Refresh
Ctrl+N = Open in a New Window

If Netscape is anyway I remember it, if you right click you should get these options in there somewhere too. Good luck

if the file starts downloading and then pauses somewhere along the way, i'd suggest skipping that file and move on to the next one in queue if you're downloading more than one file. after the other file or files are done, then hopefully your first one will resume. other times, you might have to start all over again if it remains stuck. =(

if it says COMPLETE but you still see the two files, then delete the _CRCDATA_ file and rename the _NEO_ file by deleting the _NEO_ part so that your file ends in the file extension.

If that shows up while you are trying to download a file, the file has been deleted either by the person who uploaded it or it has expired because not enough people have downloaded it within 10 days. In any case, it means the file is no longer available. =)

That most means exactly what it says, your disk is full, you have no more room to download more files. So you need to either delete some things before you can download anymore.

A grey box (that it has given you an image of) should pop after you get that message. Then download it again (even though you've downloaded the program before). Sometimes, you find it may be a 'newer' version of CB that it wants you to have... or CB just being wacky.

I have a question, I have over 1,000 mileage points to my account, and so I'm wondering about the coupons? Something about Quick Download coupons (I could be wrong :? )

JDA stated something about these privileges expiring after a couple of days. I was wondering how to use them...I'd hate for them to run out. Can anyone help me out please?

ftlouiea
12-29-2005, 04:33 PM
^ 1000 points is not quite enough yet. Try adding another zero to that number, and then we're talking business.

About the coupon expiration, I think I read somewhere about that. So it's better to use it when, say, you have a whole series to download and lots and lots of HQ clips. (See the image, 5000 points allows for 5GB!)

http://img284.imageshack.us/img284/9420/mileagepoints4kf.jpg

You should be looking at the middle right of each coupon for how many CB points you need. The numbers next to the 'W' indicates buying with Korean won.

wackycashew
12-29-2005, 04:48 PM
actually, you can get 2GB of quick downloads with just 1000 points for a limit of 5 days. next one is 5GB using 2000 points for 10 days. then it's 10GB for 3000 points for 15 days. and the list goes on. :D

see below:

note that what is in the "bubbles" are the points you need to be eligible for the coupon. the # of gigs are indicated. the points on the coupon on the lower right-hand corner are equivalent to the # of gigs you can d/l. so, as your download progresses, those # of points will be deducted (e.g. 2GB = 2000P). the # underneath those points is the time period it would expire in in terms of # of days. (just like i said at the the beginning of my post.) ^0^

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/156/clubboxpoints2ir.jpg

if you have a clubbox account, the points will keep on accumulating till it reaches 20,000 points. then it won't increase anymore.

to use it, click on the link beside where your points is shown in your clubbox.
(right-most link below) it's located at the top of your clubbox in the light blue bar.

http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/2462/cbpoints1lt.jpg <--- right-most link beside your points

it'll take you to the screen like my first cap above where you can choose the coupon. right now, since you only have 1000 points, you can only pick the first one. (click on the button below the coupon to select it.) you'll have 5 days to use up the 2GB. after 5 days, the coupon will expire. so, unless you have a lot of stuff to d/l within a short period of time, i don't recommend using up your points right away. :-) anyway, after you choose the coupon, there's a pop-up, just click OK. then, when you go to d/l a file, you can choose the left-most blue button for "quick download". as the file loads, another window will pop up (which indicates how many points you've used up), just click on the orange "o" to mean OK. then download the file as you would normally d/l from clubbox. :D (side note: in the little blue bar above, there's a 1 to show that you are using a coupon, which is what i'm currently doing.)

if anything's unclear, lemme know. =)

it's because of the recent clubbox upgrade. it happens when downloading or uploading. for downloading, there's a time limit. i don't recall how long at the moment. but after it times out, the download will pause and move along to the next file in the queue. if you only have one file, you can try to "force" it by continuously clicking the download button and i think it will go eventually. if you have multiple files in line, then just let the next file download and it'll come back to the first file eventually and things should work then. alternatively, you can shift your list of files up or down so that when it pauses and skips to the next file, you can adjust it so that the skipped file you want will come after instead of before the current download. but other times, the download just gets stuck if not paused. it just looks like it's not moving. in which case, you might wanna pause it yourself and download the next file and return to that one later. you can also try to delete the file and start up the download again. =)

for uploading, you might just wanna delete the file and start it up again if it seems stuck for a long time or keeps on pausing. i've also heard that some people have experienced multiple-file downloading, which is a fluke/glitch in the new upgrade. i haven't been one of the lucky ones though.

Hi I have a problem with my clubbox, I already installed it and did all the things in the FAQ but whenever I download something clubbox automatically shut offs and gives me this screen.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c222/murasakisora/prob.jpg

I have no problem using clubbox on my laptop but whenever I download something on my desktop using clubbox, clubbox opens and then closes automatically and gives me that screen. I've tried restarting and redownloading it but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have this prob and does anyone have any idea on how to fix it?

^ if you want to, ade. or you can just keep your username and account for downloading purposes. :D

anyway, just a heads-up... since Feb 1st, there's been a crackdown on CB's that have "illegal files". supposedly, the TV stations and other corporations are paying "spies" to scout out CB's that contain movies (korean/american/european) and possibly dramas/shows. "illegal" meaning any broadcasts by SBS/MBC/KBS (which is pretty much everything. ) anywho... if you notice CB's that worked for you before but don't work now, that could be why. the owners are stepping up the requirements and being extra cautious these days, so you probably need a username and be a member of their CB's. even then, it might not be enough though. just thought i'd let you guys know.

And Ive been seen it go as fast as 50kb/sec, although I would say average is around 20-25ish. Just like any other server it depends on how busy it is.

ade: as pam said, even if you don't download or upload anything, as long as the CB window is open, the mileage points will accumulate. once you've earned a certain amount of points, you can redeem them for quick download, which goes faster than the 50kb/s with the regular download.

i've got another question. does the mileage points increase just by leaving the box open or also by downloading more stuff? does it mean that the more stuff i download the more points i get?
nope. it's strictly 10 points per hour, doesn't matter if you leave the window open or download a bunch of files.

normal speed should be 50kb/s. quick download can fluctuate. but anything above 50kb/s will count as quick download and your points that were cashed in with the coupon will be deducted. i've gone as high up as 300+kb/s, but that's rare. usually 100+ to 200+kb/s is good for me. but yes, it also depends on location. in korea, it's much faster. take uploading for instance. it can go to 5mb/s and takes them like 3 min. to upload a 700mb file whilst it'd take me 45 min. to an hour at a "good" speed.

pam, only 25kb/s. that's pretty slow. :glug: i guess the country you're at plays a part in the connection.

retrobaby

but sometimes it says "50kb/s" while it's not moving. does that happen? and i'm not sure but it seems to me that different times of the day affects the download speed too...:?

I think it depends on what the file is. I find that a lot of the older files, while the DLing speed does show, the clip isn't actually DLing at all. I can leave it open for hours but it still won't move. So what I usually do is just try again another time...not that I have a choice.

I'm reading in jealousy here because my speed is really really SLOW compared to you guys. You say 25kb/s is slow, try mine: Sweet 18 Ep 4 - 8kb/s!!!

Yeah so I was wondering what the speed depended on. This may be asked before I'm not sure. What affects the download speed? So the country we live in matters. Thailand = haha real far from Korea. What else?

I read somewhere that Clubbox works like BitTorrent where we upload while we're downloading. So if we keep the names of the downloaded files from Clubbox the way they are, we wil be uploading to others downloading the file as well. Is this true? So does the speed depend on how many have that particular file in their system/or downloading it at the moment??
e.g. On days with more ppl exchanging the file = faster speed

One more thing I'd like to ask: how about the fact that I have a wireless router. I now d/l my files on my laptop and I use a wireless router so I can move my laptop around the house. Does the fact of an existing router and firewall matter?

Clearly I'm not a computer whiz but I really want to find ways to increase my downloading speed.

Trish >> I'm sure the downloading speed depends on your connection and the traffic on your connection server. And I don't think it's dued to how many who download at the same time. CB has no peer system. By the way, I am not sure about how it works like BT or not, I didn't use BT that long.

ftlouiea
03-04-2006, 07:46 PM
CB automatically does that now. It's so that, if you had another file to download next in line, you're not having to come back to a file that hasn't budged and the other files not being able to download because of it.

Active X control. All I'm sure is - either you get it, and you're able to use CB; or you dont get it, and just don't use CB. Plain as porridge.

kathy: maybe you need to restart the clubbox window again. unless you've already reached the maximum 20,000 points, in which case your points tally will only remain at 10 and not increase, your points should increase by 10 per hour. i've only seen the 0 points thing happening after an upgrade, but it usually resumes after an hour of running cuz things return to normal. :D

happifruit: that means you have to become a member of that box to gain access. to become a member, log in with your clubbox id and password. then click on the white button at the top right-hand corner of the top bar, right above the person's clubbox points. only click once and you will see a pop-up saying you've joined that person's box and become a member. don't click more than once on that button. if you click twice, then you would be removing yourself from being a member of that box. if you're having problems, maybe you need to disable a pop-up blocker. (if you don't know what button i'm talking about, go to my clubbox and you'll see it in the first graphic of instructions.) :wink2:

wackycashew
04-20-2006, 07:21 PM
^ files stay at 0% for all sorts of reasons. you can try different tricks. delete it from your list of downloads and queue up the file again. pause it, go download something else on your list first and come back to the file later. if you're using quick download, pause it, wait a bit, then start it again. or if you're using quick download, stop it, delete it from your list, load up the file for download again and use regular download to kickstart and then switch to quick download. or you can restart your computer and load up the clubbox window again. but ultimately, you just have to be patient. :wink2:

on a side note, you can now organize a favourites list for clubboxes that you're a member of. that's the latest feature with the recent CB upgrade. :D

^ for those having the above problems, try uninstalling and reinstalling clubbox. they went through a recent upgrade. maybe some of you were affected by it. i didn't have any trouble myself. in any case, usually when there is a pop-up that asks you to click OK along with that "downloading" screen as capped above, they've upgraded the system. you can also see the layout has changed if you own a clubbox.

if you have a series of files queued up and it's doing the start/pause/skip to next file thing, one way to stop that is to go to a CB and queue up another file. that'll break the skipping and you can then pause the "spazzing" that's going on. then you can press START again to download the desired file. CB does this from time to time. :-) i'm not sure why though...

i have a question. is it true that as it downloads, clubbox also also uploads a lot of stuff at the same time? and, what is fscagent? is it harmful? can i not upload anything when i'm downloading?

this is what i found
fscagent, is an autorun sofware (like spyware, etc.) wich will automatically upload everything you have downloaded from clubbox. So, each time others ppl want to download something you have (in your folders that you store your downloaded files), fscagent will use your internet connection to upload them, that why sometime your download speed is really slow, cuz in the same time even you don't upload anything by yourself to any clubbox, fscagent is uploading for other ppl. How do I know that ? I have try to move all my files to an other folder after I have finish downloading for the last 2 months and when I check my internet usage, it's become normal for the last 2 months.

Briefly, Clubbox works like P2P shareware & BT. If you want to inscrease your donwload speed just move your downloaded files to an other folders.

I also have a quick question: is there a way to save your username and password so you don't have to log in everytime? I checked all the combinations of the checkboxes but it doesn't seem like anything works. Thanks! There is no function like log in forever but you can set clubbox program to run automatically when the windows start and set to log in whenever the program run.

May >> I never experience that problem, but I think it's not the problem of resuming. May be the owner of the clubbox where you got the link, reupload the file or change the link

^ Pam, thanksss for the explanation  Umm, I guess the owner didn't change the link coz I can still access to the same url.. The weird thing is, the download runs but after a while it freezes. Therefore, I paused the download and then start it again but instead of resuming from the xx % that I have already had, it started from 0!

I have the same problem with several files. This one was at approximately 90% done, but I had to go to sleep and didn't want the computer running overnight, so I switched it off meaning to resume. The next day, it started at 0 even though both the NEO and the other file were still in the directory. It's even happened twice on the same file where I would hit 64% and it would freeze, and when I restarted it would go from 0 to 64% than freeze again, and starting again at 0. What's wrong?

yo! Jeannie, did you click 'ok' for that pop-up message ? And it happens after you click to download from the small browser right. It asked to find path to the clubbox program and such. After click 'ok', it will automatically find path to where you save the clubbox (normally is in drive c), it will take a few minute before it starts download.

I don't know exactly what it says in the pop-up message, but that what I did when I got it. I don't know the reason why, but it may be fine once I allowed it to find the path

^ That box, I assume it's to update CB. A status bar always pops up after that for me, so it's nothing to worry about. Click OK.

really? that's odd, because when i pressed ok, the page turned black, and then my browser froze.. ~_~ and it only happens on that computer. i downloaded clubbox on the laptop, and it works fine..

One problem here too.

Usually when I visit one's clubbox, the folders of the uploads are always seen at left hand side. Where they seperate the files following the genre. But now, I couldn't see the folders anymore. It's empty.

This is how it looks like now..

So is there anything I could do to see the folders back? Maybe I've simply clicked the wrong buttons last time when I was exploring

Ginuwine: I believe there is only one version. but I dunno korean, so I really can't confirm for sure >_>
cookie: I get that problem sometimes :/ Usually it goes away when I log out and log back in. Sometimes it takes a few tries before the page loads 'normally'
I have a question myself too. I was trying to download HYD ep 9 off http://clubbox.co.kr/gknee and this popped up:

Does anyone know what it's telling me ?

Hello,

I was just clicking into a Clubbox that I usually go to, and I see this:

http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/5265/25257960fe4.png

I thought that it was because I needed to add myself to the Clubbox, but when I hit the button, that wasn't it. What is the message about?

Thank you!
