 I'm from London!

Dinky donk:  It makes me angry that you had a first impression of London from a poem. A poem always has figurative language to convey its meaning, the author's personal opinion.

prayer dos amantes: Our air isn't that polluted. I mean, the city still has its beaufitul spots, but even in 15 minute trip out of the center, the outskirts have fresh air! By pollution, HK is by far the most polluted area that I've ever been to. You can actually see the smog.

Btw, I hope you visit our UK thread (http://jay-chou.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3628) instead of creating a new thread. There are so little members from London... let me count... 2? It's be cosier if we switched.

the fact i live nearer to central and rarely go to outskirts of london, i go to thamesmead alot though as my bro's hse is there and its real nice there, the air and 2secs away from the thames so nice for joggin and walkin.
u are ryt bout nice areas in london and not much pollution, but its the fact that we are so use to it that we dnt think its that polluted, someone from the countryside would think its polluted. i haven't been HK so dnt kno how polluted it is der, is it that polluted?

See! Even a short distance from the Thames, which is basically in central, is beautiful on a sunny day. But you could take any country person and stick them in any city and they'd find it polluted, not just London.

HK :hmm: As I said, I was going down one of the outside mall escalators, looked up. You could actually see some white/ grey musk up in the night sky. It was disgusting :retard: But I still love the place :bleh:

Btw, I'm Dana

near thames but outer london still, not known as central. its tru bout the country person thing, cos they always complainin how the city people is makin the world end earlier, but come on country people litter aswel, they still drive, worse is that the farmers drive them big trucks which let out the most pollution.

i want to visit hong kong, cos my sister jus moved there last yr and i stil havent got the chance to visit her, kinda sad actually havent seen my sister for more than a year already.
anyway my name is fhan

Ali & Fhan <--- bored out their wits! :bleh:

fhan: the farmers and their tractors, hardly reasonable to complain! They farm their crops to feed us. If they didnt use tractors, they'd be bringing in ... say 100 sweetcorns per day, compared to 1000 sweetcorns per day.

Do visit HK soon, or whenever you have time. I'm addicted to the HK buzz, and the fact that everybody (most) are so god damn rude.

I'm in North West.

true bout the farmers, but they shoulod just stop that complainin and plus im not just talkin bout the farmers, im talkin bout general people who just live in the countryside they just forever complainin, actually the funny thing is that people in london itself complains, but they cause the problem aswel and if they hate it so much y not jus leave, although the pay is better here but im sure that you would want more life then more pay.

im in South West

originally quote by Ali4Jay
does ne1 living in london go down central?? like trocadaro??

Me!Me! :bounce: I love trocadero. There is a shop in their called 'Octopus', it's me favourite. You know Accessorize in Trocodero? They are doing £1 jewerelly and other sales. It is the only Accessories that I know who is doing that kind of sale. So those who love lavish rings and stylish earrings, get yourself down to accessorize!

bakaraSHEE:  I don't know how long Jay was in London from but looking at the pictures, the place looked like Convent Garden to me. I don't know, maybe wrong. Some have said Tottenham Court Road. It looked like a posh place of London to me anyway.

i saw them pictures, i thought it was Covent Garden aswell.

don't really hang out round trocadero, been there a loads of times though, gets tooo crowded round central. prefer to go outer, shoppin malls. but u cant really stop urself from goin central. but u kno whenever i go out people jus stare at me like im a total alien, is it cos im chinese? do anyone else get the same feeling?
or is it jus that im thinkin it, but my sister thinks the same aswell.

It is Carnaby Street, damn i go there so often and i did not notice it was there. good researchin.....

bout the starin thing, its not jsu anyone, its more of chinese people staring, its scary sometimes.....
yeah i love London cos it is multicultural, i love living in SouthWest especially, the people jus seem so friendly over here, they TRY speak a bit of chinese wheneva i go shoppin in the market and they smile at u and all sorts.
some parts of London still very racists though, i dont remember the place but i remember its jus full of white people, no other race there and all they can do is stare like they have never seen any other coloured person before.

i forgot to ask, when was jay in london? my sister actually worked near carnaby street in jaeger, she went back to visit her manager last week and is very curious wat day he was there. if she found out she was only a few metres away from JAY she is gonna go nuts(i mean i would).

i actually go to a all girls school, they not racists, there are mostly black people there, but i enjoy it there more than anywere else co they kind to me and give everyone respect.

ahh really? I was wondering when Jay was in London to! if I had known I would def have gone and seen if I could get a photograph with him, but I had no idea untill I saw those photographs!

Sounds good that your school is ok, its good to be around people who don't care about your race but who you are

Hi everyone! I'm Jess :D

I was just as surprised to see pictures of Jay in London surface. I'd been waiting for that day to come since his London concert failed to come through. And I had no idea it happened haha

Its probably one of the reasons I choose to go to SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) because I knew their would be a big mix of people from all over the world. :excited: What are you studying?!

I'm going to university in September, and I've been offered a place at SOAS. The only thing holding me back is the thought of moving to London city centre. I've always been in Newcastle so it seems worlds apart. Not just geographically, but the people and the general way of life. The other offer I'm considering seriously is Durham. I've never had such a hard choice to make ever. ><

If you dont mind me asking, how do you find it? Have you been in London all your life? =)

... History? With Korean? Is it combined or is your Korean voluntary.. ie. are you going abroad to Seoul for a year?

I'm stunned ahhaha :glug:

I've been given a place for Korean and History =P And off the top of my head, I think it's a BCC offer. Which is hella more comfortable than the AAA Durham want for their History course. I need to reply to the offers over the next 2-3 weeks. I love Durham uni, but I prefer the SOAS course.

I didn't get to see Dinwiddy when I went down to have a look around SOAS earlier this year. But I do really like the way they have their rooms. Because everyone gets their own personal space, but are still living in little groups within the larger community?

I can't believe there's someone doing history at SOAS here

Nathalie: wow, so it was really in Carnaby Street? I know where that is! :bounce: Man, should've went shopping in centrel last week.

So you study History eh? I did History as a GSCE and enjoyed it very much. If I went to university, I'll probably would've picked it. But a lazy girl like me would never go somewhere that invovles a lot of hard work and effort.

prayer_dos_amantes:

bout the starin thing, its not jsu anyone, its more of chinese people staring, its scary sometimes.....

 I get that too sometimes!! Chinese people just stare at me as if I am an alien too!! Well I mean, they only look at you not because you are weird but because you are chinese. It's probably weird for them to see a chinese in a english city if you know what I mean? Not stereotyping or pointing at anything in particular, but imagine you was an english person with western appearance and you happen to be in Hong Kong full of Hong Kong/Chinese people, imagine you saw someone with western appearences, wouldn't you'll be looking at them?

And yes I agree, some parts of London are rascist but that's not to say all Londoners are racist. :-) There are some people with old fashion views about race and everything especially the older generation. I mean look at Mayor Ken Livngston, he compared a Jewish Reporter to a Nazi Concentration Camp guard, now that is something that should have not been said. :-x

it's got some pretty bad reviews so far though.... :( meh it's prolly only cuz it's subtitled in english and it's always better to watch a movie in the original language that it's meant to be in
